Fresh out of the box - Nexus 7 General

Just got it today after returning my TF700. Have to say, pretty nice, besides the undetection unless using MTP protocol.
Cheers, and discuss?

@nikotank Cool, didn't realize this was twitter

If connecting to the pc is your problem, it is almost certainly an issue of drivers on the windows side.

Sorry to express my joy of a new android toy...
@Groid yeah I didn't know the issue. Tried multiple driver sources to no avail until reading someone's luck with MTP and voila! Like a charm. Strange, indeed.

At least he didn't post in the development thread..
OT: About time. xD Kinda confused on why you traded your TF700 in for a Nexus 7.. I would do the opposite...

And you think that required you to make a new thread about it? I'm glad you are happy, but that doesn't mean anyone else gives a crap.

While we appreciate your enthusiasm, this site would be flooded in an hour if every happy owner posted that they were happy...

New SciFi book, akin to Ender's Game

Hey guys/gals,
Just thought I'd throw this out for anyone who's interested. I found an awesome book by an indie-author that I really enjoy.
It's not related to Ender at all, but I can't help but think the story was inspired by the book we love so much.
He just dropped the price on it to $.99 for Kindle/Nook. Hah, I purchased the hardback for $14 back in December. =]
Hit up the link for more details:
KINDLE/NOOK BOOK: Psion Beta (price drop to $.99) - Slickdeals.net
And let me know if you have any questions, I'm on my second read =]
Hmm I love ender i may have to try that

You really should. The reviews on Amazon are impeccable. I think the only non-5 stars came from when the book was entered in an Amazon contest, and they only got to read part of the first chapter.
It really is a book that is hard to put down.
Ill get it then thanks

Just bought it because of this thread. I love SciFi and even if I don't like it was only a dollar.

It's great isn't it?
Kind of frustrating that books like that have to be self-published, it's a really great story.
If you hop on over to the slickdeals.net thread I posted, the author actually came and found us. He mentions a couple things about releasing the next book.
I might buy a real copy just to support him haha.
Sent from my bathroom, with toilet paper.
Excellent book!
Wish he'd hurry up with the sequal on kindle
It's like with Paul D. Harrington's Lightspeed series, although the second one came out in 2009 Amazon are only showing it as a second hand paperback for $32!

Well that's just rude, not everyone has issues with theirs and this is the first generation. Of course there's going to be issues.
The tab 2 I had previous to the nexus 7 was sluggish as hell in comparison and would creak/flex if I held it in certain ways. Go for the plus if you want something better.

You may not be aware of what a recall is. If it were recalled there would be a mass solicitation of free repairs for anyone with officially recognized defects. It would come with a public acknowledgement of what is going wrong for a lot of people.
You know every device has a thread of people who are unhappy with it right? But for sure never buy a $199 device that does not work and have every feature of a $700 device and be sure you only buy the ones that have zero defects across all products shipped.
People who post "I will never buy from X manufacture again, should just stop buying electronics given most of the parts are built and assembled in only a couple places. Things like "stuck pixels" and such have little to do with Asus or Google.

If Canonical would release a closed source build, a lot more people than only a few flash addicts at XDA would be pissed.

Not really a Ubuntu or convergence fan. I would personally just purchase a powerful notebook for the price of an Edge, or buy a cheap notebook & turn that into Ubuntu, but to each their own.

the point is not to have to carry two devices with you at all times, in order to have a full mobile OS and desktop OS. This enables you to have a mobile OS when traveling, and a desktop OS when you get home, to work, what-have-you
