USB OTG cables - Nexus 7 Accessories

I just saw these two USB OTG cables on ebay, thought I'd share it and see if anyone have tried it.
On EBay Search the following
PAIR left + right 90D Angled Micro USB B male to USB female Host OTG adapter
&
Micro USB OTG Host Cable with USB to Charge Galaxy S3 Siii i9300 S2 Note 2 II
Sorry I want to post an image for each of the items but still don't have the right for that yet. If anyone want to reply with the image it would be much appropriated.

Would this adapter work with the NC?

Migrating from the N800 to the NC...
It doesn't need to be an 'otg' adapter, but that is likely what you will get. The kernel that supports usb host mode does not sense the id pin (the only thing that makes an otg cable what it is).

Ok Thanks.
Anyone seen a non-OTG adapter like this one?
Amazon lists a micro usb (male) to usb (female) adapter that works well. The only issue I have with it is that it is a 1 piece item about 1.3" long so I have to use the nook in landscape mode in order for the cables to clear my griffin stand. I would prefer a flexible cable with the same ends attached (found one through amazon but it is 20.00 US). The adapter I got was $3.50 with free shipping from amazon. See pics below

Well I think I have found what I have been looking for...
Has anyone had any experience with something like this:
Micro B to A 360degree adapter
Thanks
I ordered a mini to female usb accidently and am about to open the right one but does anyone know if i just buy a female usb to usb will it allow a micro usb cord to work?

The USB OTG that Do and DO NOT work with Nexus 7 Thread

I realize there is another thread about an OTG cable that does work with the Nexus 7, but after 3 or 4 posts, it has digressed into discussing what to plug into the OTG and what to use instead of OTG.
As I struggled to find any confirmation of a device I could buy in the UK that DID work with the Nexus 7, I thought I'd make this thread. At the same time, I also bought a USB OTG adapter that does NOT work with the Nexus 7, so thought I'd let you know of that one too. I would like to request that people use this thread to show USB OTG's that they have confirmed as working with the Nexus 7 and also those that do not work.
For those OTGs that are working, please indicate what tests you have done as well as where you purchased it (links please). Please try to refrain from discussing / recommending devices to plug into the USB OTG unless it's to say you have confirmed it as working with the USG OTG and Nexus 7.
DOES work with Nexus 7 -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005FUNQXS/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I can confirm that the following work on the Nexus 7 with this Adapter -
- USB Keyboard plugged into Adapter
- USB mouse plugged into Adapter
- USB mouse and USB keyboard plugged into (self powered) USB HUB, and HUB plugged into adapter
- USB Memory Stick (pendrive as some call them) as long as the Nexus 7 and Google Nexus are ROOTED and have a utility called StickMount installed (from Google Play Store)
- USB Dongle for Wireless Keyboard (with built in trackball), plugged into Adapter. Nexus 7 picks up both mouse and keyboard
I have confirmed that my wireless keyboard (with trackball) works great with this USB OTG Adapter
Does NOT work With Nexus 7 -

Works with USB storage, keyboard and mouse.
Ordered two different USB-OTG cables from Amazon. Only the second one, SANOXY USB 2.0 Female to Micro USB Male OTG, has come in. Took 12 days from shipping confirmation email to end user delivery.

SANOXY USB 2.0 Female to Micro USB Male OTG(On-The-Go) Cable Adapter for Samsung Galaxy s2 i9100
The SANOXY USB 2.0 Female to Micro USB Male OTG cable works fine. I've detailed my experiences in the External Storage Device Compatibility Review thread in this forum.
As I've mentioned in several other USB-OTG threads. The SANOXY USB 2.0 Female to Micro USB Male OTG cable I received is shorter than the one pictured at Amazon. See attached.

Yes there is. There are several threads in this forum as well as the Q/A and General forums related to USB-OTG cables, and what works and what doesn't with them. Just as there are multiple threads about the same case (Blurex for example) running in this forum. Just as there are several threads ongoing about POGO pins and the Dock accessory.
Give it a few days and someone else will start a new thread or two asking the same questions...

I have that one and the fit is a little looser than I would like with the nexus 7 and slight nudge may make it lose the connection with the nexus 7, it doesn't completely fall off but just out enough to lose the connection . Maybe its because in essence you put the thing in backwards? It fits snugly in my galaxy s2.
Is yours the same?

Best OTG?

Can anyone recommend a decent USB OTG that hangs down the side of the nexus 10 rather than sticks out?
Preferably one they've proven to work with an N10.
I appear to have lost my Samsung one I was hoping to use.
Thank you.
Swype'd at pace from my Galaxy S2
I have this one
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GI2VMG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
Works perfectly with my thumb drives and external hdd. Not only does it work, but the price was unbeatable.
Don't buy one of those $10+ cables as it does the same exact thing as this one.
I might add, you could possibly look into getting one that can charge the device at the same time it's using an external storage device. Unless you're okay with it.
Stickmount works with root on my devices
Nexus Media Importer works without root on my devices
GNex and N10.
Hope this helps!
Confirmed that my OTG cable works.

Can you still get to the headphone jack with that cable?
Is there any long (length wise) USB OTG Cable?
So I can just keep the flash drive or external drive in my messenger bag and use my phone or tablet LOL.
Also will USB 3.0 work with the devices?

I bought both of these. Both connect with the larger portion of the USB connector towards the screen so they hang down the side of the tablet:
SANOXY Micro USB Host Mode OTG Cable - The connector for this one was flipped from the picture and hangs down the side of my N10.
eForCity Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter - This one came just like it was pictured.
Both came from Hong Kong which took about 2 weeks in the mail however they cost just around $1.00 each and with free shipping not much to lose.
I use mine with a elago Mobile Nano II USB 2.0 microSDHC Flash Memory Card Reader and a 32GB card (my 64GB is in my S3). With the adapter in the OTG cable it barely hangs out the bottom and makes it very compact.
I have 2 kinds of OTG cables here, both working perfectly fine with my Galaxy Nexus. However on Nexus 10 when I connect a USB device to the OTG (or connect the OTG cable with a USB device already plugged in) the tablet turns off completly and I have to remove the OTG to be able to start it again.
OK -- Sorry to resurrect a glue'd horse, but does anyone have a link for one that ALWAYS ships the correctly sized (read not too long) OTG adapter? I've already ordered two of the OTG adapters through Amazon but they BOTH have too long of a connector and it basically sits loose in any device. Very lame.

Just an FYI I e-mailed Juiced Systems to see if this would work with the Nexus 10. Their response is below:
The adapter should work with 4 out of the 5 functions for the Nexus 10(MHL maybe not). I have yet to test it out personally. This is something we will test soon and will post online. The nexus 10 does have an HDMI mini port built into it already. If MHL doesn't work that is because google did not think it was necessary to make it MHL capable when it has an HDMI mini port. The Nexus 7 is not MHL capable either, not sure why they chose to do that. I will keep you posted once the nexus 10 testing comes back.
Thank you

Can you still access the headphone jack with this OTG cable?
Can anyone tell me how an OTG cable can be better than another except of the price/length/design ??
Isn't that micro USB to USB cable just a normal cable connecting 5 pins which are either in a bigger or a smaller plug?
Why should such a cable not work (except of the situation that the cable is damaged)?

I watched a video on how to make your own, if it was correct, they stated that one pin was unused and when it is connected to chassis ground tells the device to go into OTG mode.
So this OTG cable is not just connecting each pin? It's not just an adapter?
Okay then, good to know, thank you

If you took a razor knife to the strain relief part it would work, as it is you can stress it out of the way enough to fit a headphone jack but it puts a bit too much pressure on the USB port for my liking try it they're cheap!
i see most are using ones with a cable, is there an issue with ones like these?
http://www.overstock.com/Electronic...l?recSet=4e4a53cb-bea5-4a2e-aec6-88ea05c24288

I got 2 of this, works pretty well and sits close to the side of the tablet.
Only 2 issues, the connector itself is long so it's a little loose and it will block the earphone jack.

Where to buy this OTG adapter for SNote2 N7105?

Hello Members
Where can I buy this adapter (photo attached) other than ebay, in the UK.
Will it work correctly with my Note 2, as I'm going to use it to run an external USB DAC convertor, and need the extra USB power plug to power the phone and the DAC.
Failing that can, I get one made? Or make it myself from best quality audio grade USB cable and connectors?
If it's possible to make it, is there a specific wiring diagram for this OTG adapter + USB power plug that works for current Samsung smartphones?
Any help, or links to traders, and directions would be great.

Thanks for the links, but it's a OTG adapter with an extra USB male plug just for supplying 5 v power, reading a lot about making something up, but in short these modded adapter cables don't work with any certainty (something about not finding the nominal resistor value across pin (ID) 4 & (Ground) 5, which means either the phone goes to charge mode, but doesn't see the USB item that's been connected, or the reverse).
I thought the new Samsung Note 2 Smartdock might work, but it's been found to not see USB audio DAC's when there plugged in, unless someone knows different but I'm guessing the dock already takes the audio signal from the phones USB and feeds it to a 3.5 mm headphone socket in the unit.

Ebay have tons of them....

Thanks knight900, but I wanted to buy the item from anywhere other than ebay, the reason, well in the past whenever I made a purchase from this type of location/trader there was always fraud instigated on my PayPal account.
I might still consider buying from Ebay if other forum members have purchased the same item from a particular Ebay seller with no issues.

{Review} Great USB C to Micro USB adapters!

Wanted to do a shoutout to TechMatte Inc for giving me a free sample unit of these micro usb to usb C adapters. I got them in exchange for my unbiased review. So:
First: This is a two pack for a pretty reasonable price. Right now, it's $5 a piece. Not bad.
Second: Quality: These are plastic, but very functional. I have a multitude of micro USB cables from previous phones, and it's nice to be able to have backups laying around, instead of having to buy a bunch of USB C cables now. I leave the adapter plugged into the micro usb cable, and plug the adapter into the phone. Pretty handy at making the old cables still work.
Caveats: Size. This is a plus and a minus-- they would be very easy to lose. Also, the plastic feel. These work very well, but I can also see them starting to fall apart with heavy daily use. Not sure, but it looks like they wouldn't survive abuse.
Thanks, Techmatte, for the sample, and I would recommend these adapters!
Can you tell us what chargers you've used this with? Any of the Anker IQ chargers at all? I was looking at these (or similar items) to reuse the Micro USB chargers I have everywhere. Does the phone report that it's plugged into AC (in the Battery info screen), and does it report "Charging" or "Charging Slowly" if you look at the lock screen?
I'd be concerned about using an adapter like this since it could be potentially placing more stress on the phone's USB-C female connector than it was designed to handle. I'd much rather see a short (say 3" or so) Micro USB F to USB-C M adapter cable, so the stress gets relieved a bit by the cable.

Any thoughts on what the software engineer from Google has to say about the adapter and what potential impact it may have on our devices?
I'm a Software Engineer on the Chrome OS team at Google on the Chromebook Pixel and Pixel C teams.
I bought these two USB-C to Micro USB adapters from TechMatte and found they do not work properly with the Chromebook Pixel.
Upon closer inspection by our engineering team here, we have determined that this adapter is not correctly following the USB Type C specification.
The specification can be found here :
http://www.usb.org/developers/docs/usb_31_102015.zip
Specifically, these adapters do not charge the Chromebook Pixel 2015 because the adapters leave the C-C lines floating, where the specification requires a Rp pullup to Vbus to identify the cable as a legacy adapter or cable.
Please see the document named "USB Type-C Specification Release 1.1.pdf"
section 4.5.3.2.4 for a description of why the Rp pullup is necessary.
Please also see Section 4.11 and the following note :
1. For Rp when implemented in the USB Type-C plug on a USB Type-C to USB 3.1 Standard-A Cable
Assembly, a USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Standard-A Cable Assembly, a USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Micro-B
Receptacle Adapter Assembly or a USB Type-C captive cable connected to a USB host, a value of 56 k'
± 5% shall be used, in order to provide tolerance to IR drop on V BUS and GND in the cable assembly.
In other words, since you are creating a USB Type-C plug to a USB 2.0 Micro-B receptacle assembly, you must use a resistor of value 56k' as a pullup to Vbus. This cable does not do this.
Please let me know if there is any more information I can provide about why these adapters are problematic.
If you are a consumer looking for a cable that is compatible with Pixel, do not use this one.
