[Q] proces.android.acore constantly uses more cpu - until reboot - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello community
I know there are hunderets of threads about the acore proces out there. but none of them seems to be related with my problem.
My acore proces uses a lot of my cpu and therefore my battery drains very fast.
(you can see what happens in the screenshot attached. every time the graph begins from zero i rebooted my phone)
My config:
I9070 - Stock 2.3.6, rooted, supercharged
Go Launcher & Go Locker
so what I hve done until now:
- cleared all my contacts (someone stated that contact sync could cause this)
- unsupercharged
- used another launcher & locker
- even reflashed stock rom
the acore proces is used from different apps like digi clock, go locker and go launcher.
maybe someone has another idea how I could get the cause of my problem...
until now I used battery mix and ASI to get the info.
Thank you in advance!

This is android main proces from framework. It doesnt make difference to battery and working in background. You can see it as android os in battery info.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app

but its behaviour is not normal, is it?
you can see the android os proces as well in battery mix. and when I open ASI I can see which proces is "hiding" in the acore one. the battery consumption was not that high as I bought the phone. at first my battery lasted for at least two days, now its not even 10 hours. also the battery consumption in sleep mode is beyond normal - if I unplug my phone in the morning and dont wake it up the battery is drained by 25% after 3 hours...
i am searching a way how I can get more info about that drainage...

I just installed Battery mix app, and I will let you know of cpu usage on my phone for that.
P.S. For now I do not even have acore there...

Thank you for your support! Make sure you have "Hide system processes" unticked in Battery Mix.
I found something else that may could help me: "adb logcat"
There are strange things going on when my phone is in "sleep" mode...
This is what happens while my battery drains 1%: Pastebin
Somehow my softkeys are turned on and off the whole time the phone is in my pocket. I have a slight clue that NoLED is causing the drainage.
I now disabled the background light of my softkeys and uninstalled NoLED. (although I already had NoLED Disabled for a whole day and the problem persisted)
Will post results!

Lucky you. I tried JetMod, but had the same problem.
Until now it does not seem to solve the problem when i uninstall NoLED and deactivate Softkey-light. Just the Log entries disappear...

Some strange things happen... I used to have some 2-4 MB download on every reboot. Untill I change gmail account on phone. Now this...

I was successful.
Uninstalled Go Launcher, Go Locker and all themes that are related with them.
Installed SmartLauncher (Free without Widgets) and MagicLocker.
The acore proces is gone i just dont know exactly what the cause was.
Now I'm just waiting for JB...

[Q] Battery Drainage cannot be stopped!

I need help with my battery drainage, I cannot seem to track down what is the cause of my problems here. While at work I get a drain of anywere from 30-40 percent in about 5-6 hours! now that seems like ALOT.
I've tried stock, CM 6 R2, and Enom - I am on a custom kernel (2.6.35-925mV-CFS-SVS-720p-Monks-081010).. I am currently on that kernel and Enoms latest rom.
I've tried many things I've found on this forum. I installed "ShutUpBatterySaver", I removed my task manager, removed TiKL (heard it wasted battery while not in use), uninstalled ALOT of apps that I dont use/need just in case, Installed OSMonitor and watched to make sure nothing is using the CPU while its trying to sleep (I get less than 10 percent in use at any given time while the phone should be idle from android system mostly), I've stopped using live wallpapers and made sure my auto dim setting is on..
I'm not sure what else to do here Please Help!!
Thanks

Your system is using 10% cpu while the phone is IDLE??? Yeah, that's not right. Mine is in the noise (<1%) when idle.

me too the battery life on n1 sucks for me... i would unplug it then when i get to work on idle i turn it on it drops like 10 -15 percent in about an hour or so...??
Here is what I did.
1. Try to use black themes. I installed black desire bar and use black wallpaper.
2. Install SetCPU and set it to "on demand"
3. Change Wifi sleep policy to never.
4. Turn off autosync and use Shutupbatterysaver (This app automatically closes even after adding to task manager ignore list)
5. Remove widgets that auto refresh.
6. I'm using the same kernel as yours.
I also have **** battery life. Is it almost a must to calibrate the battery if you want to achieve good battery life?
Some people comment about how they have 36 hours of battery life OVERCLOCKED. If only my battery could come remotely close to that!
Unplugged my phone 1.25 hours ago and I'm already at 92%!
Edit: hmm, it tells me that my phone has been awake for 28 of the 75 minutes which is essentially impossible. Is there an issue where the phone takes too long to sleep?
I just recently got some very good usage out of my battery. Over night it only dropped something like 4%.
I'm not sure exactly what to attribute to as I've tried so many ROMS etc recently but the main things are probably
Installed SetCPU and set to 245min 500max
When in wifi location connect to it for data sync instead of 2g/3g as it uses less power when idle.

Something you're running is keeping it awake.. Most likely you have online/syncing/notifications on IM, Facebook, Twitter, something like that... Not the apps themselves, but them set to sync etc..
Spare Parts should be able to tell you what's keeping it awake.
What's UID 10018?

Some details I forgot origionally:
1. I have a black theme and my wallpaper is dark not black though
2. SetCPU is not installed but via spare parts I have my max at 107520 and govenor is on demand
3. My Wifi policy is never
4. i tried shutupbatterysaver and switched to juice defender but will probably switch back
5. I removed all widgets that auto refresh except the facebook widget (set to never refresh but it does anyway for some reason), and beutiful home widget set to update weather every 6 hours.

Here is a bit of my partial wake usage: Android system (Most), UID 10020, Dialer, Facebook, TiKL (anyone know what that is?), then News and Weather (I never use this not sure why its there), JuiceDefender, Handcent SMS.
OTher Usage shows: Running 54.9%, Screen on 27.1%, Phone on 15.9%, Wifi On 90.1%, Wifi Running 49.6% - All since last boot

In the process of calibrating my battery by draining it COMPLETELY (as in I can't even access the bootloader) and then charging it fully. I'll let you know if that helps!
Seems as if it's helped quite a bit. I managed to boot up, deal with the phone for a few minutes and download a 65MB file over WiFi and when I unlocked I was still at 99%. Try re-calibrating.
Try removing handcent. I used on my g1 and out was a serious battery hog.

[Q] Read battery log after restart

I have an issue I'd like to debug, but I need some information to help myself:
I charge my SGS (JM1) in the evening, when it's 100% full I disconnect the charger and go to bed (23:30), phone switches to airplane mode at 24:00. When I get up 8h after, my phone is off and has absolutely no battery left.
This happens every now and then, IMHO there's no app causing this (haven't installed anything lately). I can't reproduce the issue.
How would I best debug this and try to find out what's causing the battery drain?
Can I still read the battery log after a restart?

Thank you so far.
I looked at the battery usage stats and saw that bluetooth was enabled for more than 7 hours (although it was disconnected). That IMHO shouldn't have completely drained the battery though...
I am seeing the same problem recently; the battery drains out really quickly in no time even when there are no major apps running. Even the battery usage menu shows nothing major. During this time I have noticed that the phone gets really hot and the battery indicator app shows that the battery temperature as b/w 40-50 C (its around 25-35 C when there is no issue). During this time I can't even make calls or send/receive SMS!!! Seems that it just cannot get a network signal.
There were no such issues for the last couple of months. I can't imagine an app directly or indirectly causing this.
If an app keep the phone awake all.the time and use wifi/Bluetooth/gps it will drain the phone fast.
The only solution is to find out where the flaw is.
Personal i would backup the phone and do a complete wipe/ reset of the phone so it will be clean and like new. Then i would test to se if it drain the battery.
If it does then it is broken and need a.repair. Else i would start to intake the apps i need, but looking close what they do.

Ex-act-ly the same for me!
I will disable all self-installed apps via pm disable and see what happens.
I'll then report back...
Have you installed any lagfixes recently? When I had voodoo lagfix on jg4 I would get at best 8 hours of stand by time. As soon as I flashed jpm I get 1% drain per hour
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I have not installed any lagfixes, my phone is on stock JG4 firmware. The battery life is otherwise very good, only at times (very random) the battery starts draining from 100% to 0% in a matter of few hours.I use System panel to check if there is any app that is causing this, but it does not indicate anything like that.
The only thing that I can think of is that the phone for some reason looses network (I can't make a call and send/receive sms during this time) and keeps trying to reconnect without success and hence drains out the battery. Once I reboot the phone everything becomes fine and the battery usage becomes normal. Is there any way to find out that the phone is trying to connect to the mobile network and this is causing the battery to drain out?
Neither do I, never used any lagfix so far, I'm on stock JM1.

Gnarf, it just happend again. Before going to work it was all normal, now it's frozen.

maybe u should consider upgrading to JM7 or JM9. and before installing apps do a full reset and cache wipe.

I'm waiting for CM 6.1 to sort it all out, given that "FroYo by Samsung" still isn't what I expected it to be - at least judging from the betas.

battery life

I have a samsung captivate running P5. I noticed though that the phone loves to consume the energy quickly. Are there ways we can do so that battery stays longer? I noticed that even if I didn't use it for an hour, there is a drop of 3%.
I've already brought down the brightness to 0. I am not using live wallpaper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to reset your battery stats. There should be a bunch of posts on this topic outlining the steps required if you do a search.
Goodluck.

Yup, I did that after I installed P5. Then I charged it to 100% while it was ON. When it was FULL, I turned it OFF and charged it again to 100%. It didn't help.
Should I consume the battery first and retry it?
Yup try to do the calibration by draining then re-charging to 100%.
BUT... you might want to do a few other things to improve on Batt life.
Turn off Wireless/GPS when not in use.
If you have a ton of widgets running.. try and trim them down. Make sure your updates on your widgets isn't "real time" and try and set them for an 1hr or more for pulling updates.
Also goes if you have a ton of applications installed - odds are one or more is attempting to always run in the background and pulling/pushing information and that would cause battery drain.
should I delete battery stats again?
Update:
I made sure it was 10% battery remaining before I deleted the battery stats in recovery mode. I rebooted it and booted it to normal and charged it. I wait until it notified me of 100% full. When it did, I removed the charger and turned it off. I charged it again. The battery icon was full green. I think after 5 mins, it sounded again saying it was completely charged. The battery icon was also gone so it was just black screen.
Today, I removed all the widgets. I turned off GPS and Wireless. I'm using a plain wallpaper. I don't have any scheduled backup. I monitored it for 6 hours and the drop in percentage is 2.75% every hour. That's without my usage. So looks like after 36 hours(1.5 days) without usage, the phone will be dead.
So what process is eating up the battery so fast? Is there an app that can create a report which will show battery consumption?
How long does Captivate last? Is it the same?

I was playing around with creating shortcuts on my home screen and found there is an activity under Settings that shows battery history.
Long press home screen>Shortcuts>Activities>Settings>Scroll down a way to find Battery History (com.android.settings.battery_history.BatteryHistory)
See if that helps you find a drain.
That is so cool!!!
so I noticed wifi was the top 1 consumer. So does wifi sucks up battery power really big?
I suggest that you change the gallery app to the one from the market called gallery 3d. Then find on the forum the samsung galaxy tab email apk. Just delete the old ones and install these. The old ones got bugs that suck the juice of the phone wayy to much. Aftee that if you're still experiencing high drain then try to turn of wifi

Thanks. However, what should I do with this apk file? I'm sorry, I'm new it.
I figured out what I need to install apk files. I installed AppInstaller. I executed AppInstaller and chose the Gallery3D.apk that I put on the root of the sdcard. I clicked Install button and it's giving me an error.
"Application not installed"
What should I do?
can you please post the MD5 checksum of this file so I can compare it to mine?
That will help a lot in troubleshooting.
Thanks.
I am so pleased with my new settings and results. In an hour, the usage in percentage was only 1% compared to my previous 3%.
The only thing I changed is "Disable all animations". The WiFi is still on.
Update:
After 6 hours: 10% was consumed compared to previous 16%. It's better but hopefully we can still make it better.
Mine is also using 4-5%/hour when idle. I'll go to sleep..7 hours later its about 35% down. I look in battery usage and it seems odd that the display is still the "top user" even though the phone has been off all night. I uninstalled a couple of recent apps: Pageonce Travel and Lookout, but that hasn't seemed to make a difference. Haven't changed any settings in the last couple weeks..pretty frustrating

Galaxy note over heating (System UI hogging CPU)

Hi,
I've a G-Note running ICS-4.0.3 , i recently noticed my phone is getting really hot and resetting automatically at times, on closer investigation i see 'CPU spy' data showing my phone running constantly at 1400Mhz mode!!! wanting to find which process is doing this, i downloaded watchdog lite and noticed that 'System UI' process is running at 49% approx CONSTANTLY, killing it re-spwans the process!! any idea whats causing this?? Please Help!!
Not rooted, never flashed, on original upgrade, have nova launcher, use it rarely. no other launchers installed.
Restart fixes this sometimes, sometimes not.
Thanks in advance,
Ramgo.

Not that i can think of as a problem, been happening for a while now, could be any of the app! i have like 200 installed!!
Now its not system UI, its android syste, badass battery monitor shows kenel to have taken most of the battery (which seems mostly loop task, is this bad) and then android core process.

I infact got deep sleep the whole day, 15 hrs just 10 percent drained! this problem has been occuring intermittently, deep sleep is still happenning, but when the phone is screen ON, its in the highest mode.
Hmm things got complicated.Like I said if everything used to be normal then all of a sudden this problem began then it should be an app I suppose?!Just like my case.
Install OS Monitor and see what's hogging your cpu maybe you can pinpoint the application if that's the case.
did anybody have a problem with Gsam battery monitor after it was upgraded from Badass battery monitor??? i was looking at it and was showing 100% battery drain due to application ( 0% for screen and phone radio)!! i have uninstalled it and seems fine i guess! atleast for now! charging now and its in the expected 200Mhz state.

Yes will do that!! Thanks! read my comment below, i think GSam Battery monitor submits some task or makes some query to the kernel which makes it to go in a loop, hence the android system seems to be using more CPU and not battery monitor itself

I checked OS monitor, nothing seem to be hogging, occasionally android system, overhearting near the camera and resetting automatically, please HELP!!!

Hello,
I'm having a similar problem. When my Note is in standby sometimes it overheats without any apparent reason and battery drains very fast.
I haven't been able to trace the origin of this problem. I'm running on ICS 4.0.3 stock and no ROOT.

Have you installed any kind of launcher on your phone? If you have, do try to uninstall it for now. Install BetterBatteryStats, turn off any data connection.. 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth.. Remove any Live wallpapers(just use a static one), Uninstall any apps that connect or syncs online.
The last thing I could advice you is turn off Airplane Mode (at night), charge up your phone to 100% and just leave it for a day. Check back on BetterBatteryStats after on what apps/wakelocks is triggering the overheating.

Lot's of work... I'll have to find some time to try all of that.
Thanks.
Early last week my Note started to reboot whitout any apparent reason. It happened 2 to 3 times a day. Specially in the morning when battery was still above 60%.
The overheating also happened from time to time but not everyday.
Saturday I figured I had to do something extreme to end this.
First I downgraded to a pre-rooted GB rom. Afterwards wiped the GB rom. Then upgraded to stock ICS. Everything worked out fine and was very easy to perform, thanks to all the guides available on XDA.
Last of all I rooted the ICS.
Until now the Note hasn't overheated or rebooted again.
I really thought it would be harder to do all this. But now I think it would take me about 20 min to do all these procedures.
Thanks to all the people that posted the guides on XDA.
Keep it in the deep freeze for 10 minutes it shall solve your problem

I'll take that as a joke.
Three days in and still no unwanted reboots or overheating.
Gents if you have nothing constructive to provide in assisting the users with real help, please refrain from off topic mindless humor. Thank you.
A week after I've re-flashed ICS on my Note, the unwanted reboots have come back.
It must be some app I've installed again or maybe something much worse. I've read lots of threads and was wondering if a custom kernel and a different ROM might solve this problem.
One thing I've noted, the reboots never happen at night only during the day (mid-morning and mid-afternoon).
Any new ideas to help me find the source of this problem?
EDIT:
I'm running on LPY Kernel, so wipe is not an option...

[Q] Mobile Network Signal (Cell Standby) DRAIN

Hello guys I'm a newbie here so please do explain to me some of the stuff if you need to
so recently (about 2 weeks ago) I used this guide to root my Incredible S and did everything except the Blackrose part
and since then
I've noticed that my phone has drained its battery a lot quicker than usual
I lost 11% of battery when I woke up, fully charging it the night before
I usually do not use it much, only a call every 2 days or so, and I do not have internet connection
so I cannot understand how I have to charge it every day now, when it used to last 4 days (on Sense)
here's a pic from betterybatterystats
thanks everyone
------- 4/10 edit
ok
back to stock rom
it has the SAME problem
"No data connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" on Betterbatterystats
with steep drops in battery whenever there is "Mobile network signal"
and next to no drop whatsoever when there isn't
PLEASE HELP ><
new attachments down there with stock rom
tell me if you need a translation
THANKS

Battery drain has already been discussed much in the CM10.1 thread. Its been discussed in practically every AOSP thread really.

I know and I've tried to look around for answers for quite a few days
but for most people
it's either the same as Sense or something else (too many apps, not charging fully...)
and for those with similar conditions
I can't find solutions for
and the problem got worse today
in the 7 hours I slept yesterday
the battery drained from more than 50% to nothing
so the alarm didn't ring because it shut itself off

The standard charging time isnt what it says on the box or anything. It should be roughly 6 hours from 0% to 100% and thats providing you plug it into an AC outlet. I would suggest trying an app called Greenify. It hibernates certain apps/ services that may not be in use thus saving battery. I would also regularly check the Running Apps in settings and clear out anything unecessary.

nonono
I don't have a charging problem
it's a drainage problem
and about Greenify
I already installed that when I looked over the battery saving guide (which didn't help)
I literally have 5 apps in the Running Apps section
the part I don't get is
why does Cyanogenmod 10.1 use battery so much quicker than Sense
when I have 1/4 the apps I originally did?
it's the "No Data Connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" part really bothers me.
oh and thanks for the time btw

Hmm then this battery drainage is strange. Try making a full backup in recovery. Then clean flash the ROM again. If the problem still persists, then I have absolutely no idea whats wrong lol

Actually
I tried that...
on Sunday afternoon I reflashed it
my exact steps:
1. ClockworkMod backup
2. Install from zip
3. Advanced restore - data (I restored the whole thing too once before that, but thought that just restoring the data might actually change something)
and that's when it went from 50% to 0 overnight
not looking too good -.-

Well then sit tight. Szezso is gonna release a CM10.1 for us as soon as he gets his new USB port.
oh well then
thanks for the help anyways
I'll just keep waiting
might want to go back to Sense though...
and more pics from BetterBatteryStats
just in case anyone knows what they mean
Drained 56% of my battery while I was asleep yesterday (for about 7 hours)
only 6% in the time I was at school, because of Airplane mode (I even listened to music and played a little Doodle Jump)
but I obviously want a phone to CALL PEOPLE
so I'm reverting to stock Rom
OK
so that didn't work out
I edited the main article
hope someone can help!!
meanwhile I'll look for more articles online since I know it's not (really) CM's problem anymore
thanks
Ensure to charge your mobile fully and after a NORMAL usage (calls, WiFi, Mobile Data on).
Just share the dump file from betterbatterystats. It would help to analyse better.
Edit:
Could notice you are using some widgets in the home screen. Usually widgets with high refresh rate drains your battery.
2. Facebook app is causing the partial wakelock. Even when the screen is off, the app is using your CPU. Try to disable autosync if it's enabled
3. Audio_out3 wakelock is due to phone vibrator is enabled. May be during call or keyboard haptic feature.
Power manager service wakelock is common and its in good level.
Try to check your CPU freq n governor.
And adjust accordingly. One more, Li-on battery should not be charged fully. Just charge till 85-90%. The battery will drain little lower compared to fully charged device. And you need to charge your device only when battery is low. Frequent charging n discharging will affect the battery life. Consistent Charge and discharge cycle is encouraged.
Try to share your fresh dump here or in batter battery status thread. There are many folks to help you with.

Thanks for the detailed reply sir
My widgets (aka weather & tasks) only refresh manually, and nothing is on Autosync (in the auto sync menu, anyways)
originally had only vibration for calls, turned that off too now
and what is "CPU freq n governor"?
didn't know that about the batteries
I'll do that next time
and I just reinstalled betterbatterystats, so I'll post the Dump File after a few hours
Thanks again!!

I mean CPU frequency steps and CPU governor. It's a kernel thing. Just search xda, you will lot of info regarding that.
Sure, post your dump with normal usage.
It's easy to click thanks rather than expressing in words

I installed No-frills CPU Control instead
since it's free
