Nexus 7 Video Tutorials - Nexus 7 General

Hey everyone, I'm newly registered to the forums, but a long time lurker
I just wanted to make a thread to let you guys know that on my YouTube channel, YouTube.com/JStrauD, I do a bunch of Nexus 7 / Android tutorials and reviews. For example, I've done a video tutorial on how to unlock and root the N7 and I've also started a new mini-series of my favorite Custom ROMs that come straight from the XDA forums! I also do iPhone & gaming videos but I'm only making this post to let you know about the Nexus 7 videos
Feel free to check them out and if you want your Nexus 7 ROM reviewed or have any ideas for video tutorials, either leave a comment here or PM me on YouTube! I'm really hoping these videos come to help some people out!
Thanks guys,
JStrauD

An Idea for XDA TV

Hello there...
Love XDA TV, and i think it needs more videos.
aaaaaaaaaanyway.. You guys should make a series where you test stuff, and/or make tutorials.
Why am i saying this?, well, In all these threads, where Developers and people that make stuff then explain how to install whatever they made, .. , the explanation is sometimes not clear, and causes confusion. And well, some people have only 1 phone, and are too scared to test stuff on their phone, so watching some1 that has already done what they want to do will make the steps of installing whatever they want to install; very clear.
It will also, in theory, increase exposure to XDA TV, because alot of people search youtube for videos on how to Root, Degrade, intall Custom ROMs, Flash things, etc...
To sum it all up; A series focused on Tutorials, and Testing...the TNT show! -just made that up!
i know i would really appreciate it!
I would have to agree with you there. I know it might be time consuming but if there was a video tutorial to go along with the instructions it might cut down on the amount of people coming back looking for help when thing's go wrong. A bonus to this would be the deb's would have more time to develop great custom roms
Yea, true..true
also videos showing how to fix the phone if anything went wrong -i.e. CID incorrect, Triangle icon and phone won't boot....stuff like that
A lot of this stuff is already being talked about in the thread for show ideas. In particular, might want to check out the suggestion I made...

i tried searching for your idea that u suggested, but search isnt working at the moment, and allow going through all these threads! long stuff.
aaaaaaaaaanyway, are these ideas actually being considered? Do the XDA Masters discuss this in their Great Meetings? or is this just a waste of time?
I doubt they'd make a forum if they weren't listening. No harm in trying, anyway.

This is a test
So basically you're asking for what I'm doing with my youtube channel?
XDA TV is great...I have been watching a few episodes and like the content....however, the editing seems a bit strange.
Maybe its just me, but the videos appear purposely stitched together without any pausing or gaps between stories which makes for an incredibly hard to watch/listen experience that seems like a 5 min run-on sentence (much like this one).
just my thoughts.
Great! By video, things like how to operate, or install will be more easy to learn from.
Saving long texts and time!

New: Girl into Droid!

Before I ask my last question, yes, I am a girl, that loves technology, games, and Android. I was in iOS before, always creating mods, and always tweaking and stuff. I gave my good bye to iOS, since Android lets you do MUCH more. iOS is too specific, popular, secured etc for me.
Back on Topic y'all!
So, yesterday I successfully rooted my Nexus 7, 4.2.1 using WugFresh's Toolkit. It is now rooted, but still new.
What do I have to do, to be able to fully theme my Nexus 7? Example, to change navigation bar color, and police color, the maximum customisation I could get for my Nexus 7. I looked on Google, but, nothing. Thanks!
PS: Think I can even modify/edit/mod ANY games I have on my Nexus?
Thanks y'all take care okey! xoxx
Try going to http://mycolorscreen.com and checking out some of the home screens there. Each one can be viewed, and include some information regarding what apps were used to make the screen look the way it does.
You probably should have posted this in the last thread you started.
Starting multiple threads is a no-no here.
To answer your question, I advise you to look in the themes section of the nexus forum or do a Google search for 'xda theme tutorial' there are a few of them around and I've come across a few of them as I browsed through various forums.

Flamewar? That's nothing, wait til you see a real xda flamewar!
Ya its just so the forum doesn't get cluttered up, but I see your point about the last one, went a bit OT
Do you have any interest in building Android or anything like that?
It's quite simple and there are plenty guides there for that too on the net.

Hello there,
Thanks for giving us the ability to request videos. This is more of a suggestion than a request as I know what to do if this should happen to me. Would you make videos for users who softbricked their phones/ ran into a bootloop to allow them to fix their devices? I've seen a fair amount of softbirck/ bootloop questions posted here and maybe this could help the others out.
Thanks again

I was definitely going to make a video about that, the only problem is that I still didn't get into the developing scene with the nexus because im wondering about Google I/O and new android, but anyways I will definitely do it when I run into it. Thanks for your suggestion .

Hello from OldSchoolLLJ

I found out about this forum yesterday. I downloaded and installed the Fire Toolbox. I managed to work through the functions to get it more like an Android device. Now I hope to learn a lot more from the experts who are here. My most important reason for joining is to get my Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet to show movies on my TV when we go camping. So far I am hoping there are answers to this problem that will make a lot of people happy.
