[Q] Google Play - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently I acquired a new G1 Dev phone and I just got done applying CM 6.1. So far I'm very pleased with the overall result. One thing that doesn't seem to work (or I just don't do something right) is "Market" (now Google Play). If I click on the "Market" icon the web browser opens and I see the Google Play Terms of Service. One would think that there would be a "agree" button but I can't seem to find it. I would be thankful for any tips, hints, ideas.

Please don't post questions in the general section.

1 - Try to install apk of Google Play 3.10.10 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001595) or
2 - Rotate Screen

Hi guys - I'm having a similar problem with my G1. Recently I've reflashed from Donut by Laszlo to CM5.0.8 and everything was fine. Yesterday I reflashed again, this time going for the 2708+ port - basically CM5.0.8 with ramhack. I flashed with Gapps that didn't include google maps as it was said it would be a bit more stable. Plus I don't really need them so I was glad to have saved some space. What I didn't know was, it didn't contain the Market app either. Now I'm trying to get the market installed but can't seem to succeed. I found an apk that I installed and it worked for a bit, but when started downloading it forceclosed. So I tried an edited google play app, that was supposed to work on the Eclair versions of android and it failed, so I tried to install the previous one again, but that one forcecloses now instantly.
So does anyone know of a Market app for CM5 that is stable, or do I need to reflash Gapps? I would prefer simply a market app, if there is a stable one anywhere...

Never mind actually. Got it to work. I used the wrong Gapps before - that's why the Market didn't work and forceclosed. Just downloaded different Gapps, removed unwanted apks, flashed and that's it. All is fine...

Google Maps 3.3.0 On the market

Welp I just installed 3.3.0 on my G1 and now I'm getting Force Closures.
Compass arrow
Scale bar
Terrain Layer
More…
When I opened up the new Google Maps for the first time it asked “What’s new in Maps?” and it answered:
Report a problem with the map or a business listing
See businesses at an address or near a point on the map
Try out experimental features with labs
Uninstalled and reinstalled and it works fine.
Thanks for the uninstall/reinstall tip. that solved my problem. running CM-4.2.7.1
No force closes here...
The new features are cool, but nothing nearly as awesome an addition as Navigation was. Either way though, love to see that they're improving it all the time. Android's Google Maps is WAYY better than iPhone's if you ask me.
I like the fact that you can report problems right from the phone too.
I am personally getting a "package not signed" error on Enmther's TheOfficial. I uninstalled it but I still cant get it to install/
love it!! no force close after reinstall
does it have street view

Yeah it still has street view. You just long press anywhere on the screen and it brings up the next menu. As long as street view is in your area you will get the use of it. Like my area shown up above in the screen shots I do not have street view in my area so I can't really use it much.
can any one upload an apk of the new google maps, having a hard time installing it via market.

thanks, but it says that the file is unavailable.
Running Cyanogen 4.2.5 and had the hacked version of 3.2.1 Maps (via XDA, before it was available on the market). Upgraded to 3.3 via market and it works fine, no FCs.

getting the same. running cyanogen 4.2.7.1 installed 3.2.1 from market fine last time. no option to uninstall from manage apps - how are you guys uninstalling?

a full uninstall (e.g. i did it with Super User File Management System (SUFMS) and then reinstall via market fixes the Maps 3.30 force close issue
Having the same problem here with the unsigned package error message - tried uninstalling, manually deleting the Maps.apk file but no luck...
Does anyone have a working APK that we can just push to our app folder and get it over with?
I'm running a modified CM 4.2.7.1 (on which people are complaining about he same issue). I don't get Google with their crap they have to do to block certain features and render the whole thing useless for all users with custom roms until someone has to spend the time and figure it all out for the rest of us...

When you are on the market there should be an option to upgrade. I simply upgraded and then when I had an error I went back to the market and searched for "Google Maps" and when it came up I used the uninstall button, followed up with searching and installing.

I just tried to download it again. Its there you just have to wait for their annoying time out thing. I'd host it on my site, but honestly I'd rather not hammer the piss out of it when megaupload works just fine.
Anybody that wants to use it just rename it to Maps.apk
Its renamed funky because of an app I have installed that renames files when I tell it to back up.
Signing issues here is another thread that addresses it.

the link is working now
I updated my site with version 3.3.0 if anyone wants the apk...

Nexus one android 2.2 market issue's with market.

I post this thread because out seems no has yet to acknowledge this problem with the market.it seem in the market display paid app icon doesn't display neither dose the paid apps.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
1) You have posted in the wrong forum.
2) Market works fine in 2.2 unless you flashed one of the pre-release builds.
The sticky at the top of the N1 gen forum tells you in bold NOT TO ASK QUESTIONS.
Ask them in the Q/A section. Gen section is for news, tips only...

I'm having the same, or very similar problems. Basically, I'm seeing paid apps, and my purchases, but I'm not seeing the "Top Paid" tab, nor is the Market acting in any sane or rational way. For example, I install an app, and the notification bar will say downloading, then installing, then the notification that it installed. In the Market download window, though, I see it download, then switch to installing, but never get beyond that.
What started all this with me was this. Using Linda File Manager, I uninstalled a couple of apps (was trying out the feature since I was in there). In this case, it was Google Earth (don't really use it), and a Pirate game that I never grocked. Anyway, in the Market they wouldn't leave my list in the Downloads, so I wiped the cache and data in the Market app in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
After that, all my apps appeared as uninstalled in the downloads window, and the issue with installation started. First thing I did was try and reinstall all the apps, and ended up with a huge list of apps that were installed, but were marked as still installing by the market. Killing the market app cleared out the hung install progress bars. The other thing that started happening was that not all of my installed apps appeared in my download list. KO Boxing, for example was on the featured list as upgradable, but it wasn't in my download list to upgrade.
Ultimately, what I decided to do was wipe the phone and see what happened. After wipe, I logged in and FRF91 didn't restore my apps like it had in the past. In fact, the market was exactly the same as it was before the wipe, with all my apps showing as free or purchased. Installing issue was also the same. Now, I know that Google backs up the settings, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. I wiped again, but in the configuration process post-wipe, I selected for Google to not restore from backup (hit menu in the setup when you are entering your username/password). This brought me through the process much quicker, but with no change in the market function.
So, I'm still without a "Top Paid" tab, nor with a all together sane Download window. It's frustrating the heck out of me, and I'm about to go back to whatever the 2.1-r1 release was (ERE27?) and see if that makes any different.
The ROM I'm running is the FRF91 full release from lox_dev:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715799
If T-Mobile is doing the OTA's to FroYo from 2.1-r1, then maybe I'll let it do it's own thing today and then see if that fixes it. Ugh.

The above snipped sections are my story too.
Updated last week manually from ERE27 to FRF85b to FRF91 using the official stock clients each time. Non rooted N1. I spent 6 hours on Friday night trying to sort this..
I've got posts up on the Google Nexus One forums also and am holding where I am for a definitive fix. It's very frustrating though..
Go to menu>applications> magage applications> all apps> market then force quit and clear data and whatever else is in there.

I tried that on Friday night. Once I'd done that, none of my installed apps showed in the Downloads section.
That's why I did a full wipe and set the phone back up. Luckily I was still able to find all my apps, including the purchased ones. However the missing 'Top Paid' button and slow market performance persisted.
So, for fun, I pushed back to ERE27 (2.1-r1) and same issue. No "Top Paid" in the Market, and issues with installation. This is complete wipe, nothing installed on the phone after imaging.
I let it upgrade to FRF91, which didn't change anything. I'm now pretty convinced that whatever this is is completely account related on the Google server side of things, and it needs to be sorted out by them
Guess I'll have to figure out who to contact for support from Google :/

I'm working the Google angle also plus have posts on several forums and watches on more.
Please can you keep this thread updated with your progress and I'll do the same.

I've made contact with Google via email and this is now being investigated.
I'm sending them a summary of the problems I've been having and pointing them at various threads both here and in the Market so that they can see how widespread this problem is.
I've also tried a full hard reset and cache wipe without luck. My belief is that this is something that Google need to sort server-side, so I'm done with my wiping and reinstalling for now...

Looks like this has now been fixed server-side.
I got my 'Top Paid' tab back this morning - Yay!

[Q] Problems with Market..

Hi everyone!
I have searched,,, and not found an answer..
I am trying to update Titanium Back and Beautiful Widgets but the downloading status bar on my Nexus One does not change.
My Nexus One is rooted and runs a Modaco Rom which I only updated last week..
I deleted Titanium Backup and thought I would re-boot and then download again, but when I access the Market, the two apps are still trying to download.
I try force close but nothing resolves the problem.
Any advice much appreciated!

I think the market (on Google's end) was having problems earlier. I decided to do a clean wipe of my phone last night and couldn't get the market to work at all, download unsuccessful, download paused, stuck at starting download. Found lots of threads on Google Support Forums, and a long one in the Galaxy S forum here on XDA. People were suggesting everything from clearing cache to removing and reinserting sim cards.
Bottom line, it seems to be working perfectly now, haven't had a failed download in the last couple hours. Don't know if Google is having market issues or not but it doesn't seem to be phone/rom dependent.
Thanks!
I still have the same problem.
I downloaded Titanium Back via a website and not the Market. It is the latest version, and I also paid, via the Market for the Pro licence.
But I still get the same problem with the Market continually trying to download both Titanium Backup and Beautiful Widgets.
edit - tried deleting data for the Market App, and on the third try, with re-boot, problem has resolved.
Unfortunately, icons in some of my GDE screens have disappeared.

App gone with reboot

So I'm trying to be a hero to my nephew and install some games that do not show on the market. Smurfs Village is my example. He has a Nook running CM7.2 Mirage.
I installed the games on my phone, did a backup, then pushed the apk to the nook. They install and run fine.
Problem is, when I do a reboot they are gone. It must have something to do with a market check then they get removed as an incompatible app.
My searching has found nothing but I KNOW I saw this issue somewhere.
Any help?
Steve
Interesting!
Can you do install, play a bit then reboot one more time and see if it is really the case?
Plus since Google just changing Market to Play, get into the settings and see if anything weird there.
