This would be the perfect "thin case". - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I have a Samsung flip case which I love but the lack of drop protection is disconcerting. What would be awesome would be if someone made little clear gel "corner bumpers" that you could just fit over each corner and not all the way around the phone. They could be small and thin with a little stickiness on the inside to hold them on. It would be the ultimate "thin" case as it only protected the corners (the trouble spots).
Does such a thing exist?

or make your own and don't put any coloring in it. I think it will be as clear as silicone gel.

Thanks but I am looking for something premade and clear. That would look pretty ghetto.

mine doesn't look perfect, but it's only as ghetto as your art skills. get someone else to do it for you. It's not just silicone so not sticky after it sets.
It's the best drop protection you'll get on anything thin. plastic just transfers energy to the screen, rubber on the sides just adds bulk and there doesn't need to be anything on the back in most cases.
In reality though, most cases look ghetto compared to the gorgeous phones we get new and then cover up. My brother's iPhone bumpers are 5th or 6th generation Sugru, so he's getting pretty good at shaping them and they are only raised about 1/16" on the ends but a bit more for the face.

Wouldn't those just fall off if you dropped it on one of those corners? What holds that stuff in place, can it be removed without damage to the device? Residue, adhesive?

PDair horizontal case

I posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8464878&postcount=12 about the Tuff Luv case, Today my PDair case arrived and so here's a little bit about it.
First off, it came well packaged in a cardboard box with protective material around it. The build quality 'seems' mostly good, stitching is fine and the magnetic closure works well, there are card slots for those that want them.
But, my reason for buying a case for my Streak was for protection against bangs and knocks, you can see from the middle image below that this case has some serious failings in that department. The device fits firmly enough into the case once you have pushed it all the way in, however as you can see one end just doesn't go together well, the top cover is not anchored down and curls upward, as does the lid to an extent on both ends when closed

The wide open end is not readily visible in the product images on eBay
The speaker grill is just 5 holes punched in the back and seem like an afterthought as they are not finished the same as the other apertures are.
The PDair case was £32, the Tuff Love case in the previous post £25, even if the TL case had been the more expensive it would still have been better value, as it is, it being 25% cheaper than the PDair the Tuff Luv wins hands down. I'm really quite disappointed with this one.
Thanks for the write up nice job mate
I have been looking at these but i think you have changed my mind not to get one thanks
I agree, thanks for taking the trouble to do this.
These leather cases just look so ugly and crude to my eye. All the more so when contrasted with the precision made technology that they are encasing.
It is a jarring juxtaposition and I don't understand why people find them desirable and attractive.
But then PDair would be out of business if there were more like me so I accept that my opinion is a minority.
Well I can't agree about leather cases in general, I really do like my TL one. I'd be interested to see what the Otter Defender case looks like, I think it might offer pretty good protection if they ever make it.
Thanks for the writeup and images of the pdair as well as the tuff luv case.
I really am not a fan of such bulky cases, but if I had to chose I would pick the pdair one.
I am really looking forward to the simply 'slide in (with no flap) pdair case.

More pictures and a comparison of Seidio Innocase Surface Case

I bought the purple case for my wife. Here are a few pics for those interested in a few more pictures of the case. I also have a few comparison shots with an EVO Shift that doesn't have a case as well so you can see how much thickness it adds. I like the case. It feels the same as the back of the Shift for the most part. Both the Shifts in the pictures also had the Seidio screen protectors installed which fit and feel great and have no adhesive. At $30 the case is a little spendy but it fits perfectly and doesn't feel like the top will pop off or anything. Was a good thing to spend some left over Christmas money on Sorry about the high ISO of the shots LOL, it is dark outside and I didn't want to use a flash and apparently the lighting wasn't the best.

5mm doesn't sound like much on paper. But side by side, wow it sure does look quite a bit thicker.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Though I have fat hands and the case I got made it a little easier to hold on too.
Nice case looks better then my shield combo from sprint
I just got my case today, and the front plate seems to want to fall off when I use the slide. Maybe I need to break in the case a bit...but it seems like it just barely fits.
has any one found a good leather or hip case that will fit the phone in the shell

In my first update I detailed the same issue: Seidio Innocase Surface Review (quick/dirty)
Basically you're going to have to carefully pry on your case to make a gap to fit the plastic in.

I have the HTC leather hip case from Best Buy from a previous phone. The Shift+Innocase fits nicely inside.

[MOD] DIY TPU Bumper case for the G2x/O2x with Extended Battery

I just posted this in the G2x forums, but I figured you guys might find it useful as well...
I just got a 2800MAH Anker Extended battery from ebay, and unfortunately, my TPU case didn't fit over the extended case back. FatalityBoyZahy suggested that I cut the back of the TPU case off to make it fit, and this is what I did.
What you need:
Generic TPU Case
Xacto Knife/Some sort of Cutting Implement
Patience
Optional:
File
Match/Lighter/Some sort of small controlled flame
What I did was cut the back of the case, a little at a time, until it fit over my phone with the extended battery in. I ended up taking most of the back off before it fit.
I'm not that great with an Xacto, so the cut was bumpy and jaggedy. I used a file to even it out as best I could. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I wanted a clean edge. So, I used matches to melt the cut edge, and when it dried it was a clean, almost factory finish.

Final thoughts...
I think that It came out pretty well. One thing that I do notice is that the sides dont hug the phone like they used to... I think that this is because the profile is slightly different now and I left a decent amount of material. You could probably fix this if you cut a bit more. Its no big deal and you can still press all the buttons. From a distance, this seems like a manufactured case. You can only tell that it's diy'ed when you look at it from close up. Also, I think that using the file wasn't necessary because if you hold the flame there long enough you should be able to melt it down to be even. But don't hold the flame at one place too long... I had my case catch fire once
Cases are cheap, give it a shot
how secure is the case imean it lowers the damage of a fall or it's just like look nice case ?

It fits pretty snugly on the phone, so it should be just as secure as using a tpu case (other than the exposed back of course). I haven't dropped it yet thankfully, but it fits on pretty tightly and wouldn't fall off or anything... I'm pretty pleased with how it came out!

I purchased this case for £6.95 form AMazon yesterday and it came today. I wanted a thin case that offers as much protection as it could, and I believe this is that case. THis case is listed as $35 on thier website, I just wanted to say I dont think that it is worth that much.
The case has a hard, plastic structure with a layer of Brushed Aluminum on the back. This gives it a cool touch and a very nice texture. All cutouts are very well aligned and I have had no issues with audio or pressing the volume or power buttons. The pogo pins are also exposed which is nice as this is the only case I know where they have allowed them to be open. Overall the case is very good very slim and offers quite a lot of protection.
THe negatives come in the way of the design though. The huge poetic logo on the back of the case (see images) may put some people off as well as the bottom and top silver plastic being exposed on the device. Also the case is not that grippy to hold. Meaning it is very slippy to hold and may fall out of your hand.
Great case at a great price.

Here's my video:
Great review man... does it provide any protection to the front? What I mean is if you put the nexus face down does the glass touch the surface at all?
Thanks for putting up the review. That has got to be one ugly case though. I want my branding to be mostly invisible. That one screams LOOK AT ME!!!!! :silly:
Just recently got my nexus and I've been looking for a new case. I just recently dropped my nexus on concrete and the top right corner the I guess bezel or the silver gray material came off. Am wonder ok by if this case would provide decent protection against such a fall

Few cheap, thin cases from Amazon

Hello all, I just wanted to post up some opinions of cases I purchased from Amazon. I was looking for a thin light case that didn't take away from the design and added hardly any bulk.
First up is the Myriann 2 tone case
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0752H4YBN/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This case looked great on the website and I love the two tone colour look. I actually wish this is how the note 8 looked with silver border with the black front and back glass.
The case feels durable and a little on the thick side which is a shame. If it was a few mm thinner they would have had a winner in my opinion. I also really liked the carbon fire look back.

Second is this clear/bumper style case from KKTick.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07591K36V/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This case also looks really nice and is a little thinner than the one above, however it's still a bit thicker then I liked and the clear back was a bit of a figure print magnet. Worse than the glass back of the naked phone.
Third we have this rubber thin case from Nillkin.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B074WPDMG6/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I really liked this case and as soon as I put it on my Note 8 I thought we had a winner. The case is thin, sleek and doesn't feel cheap because it's a solid rubber coating. The only issue with this case is it's not very grippy on the side. So much so that if you hold it by the side alone the case slides down your hand. Such a same because I love the look of it.
Finally we have this stealthy matte black silicone case from vitutech.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07529VKHZ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This case is what I'm rocking right now. The case is super thin, has a decent amount of grip and looks as if it's not even on the phone. I can't really fault it except it could have been a little blacker in colour. But I'm just nit picking. This case was also the cheapest.
Hopefully you guys have enjoyed the photos and this gives you a better look at some of these cases. I have a few more on the way so I'll update this post when I continue to receive cases.
The 2nd one looks nice
they are good!
I want to get a thin case like that, but one drop and it's goodbye
