[Q] Updating Source - XDA-University

First of all, let me say thank you for starting XDA-University. I have been trying to learn this stuff for over two years. I have been hesitant to post in forums because I see so many people getting bashed for asking questions that some people feel are dumb questions or questions not getting answered period. I hope neither is the case with this thread. So my question is this, with the JB "leak" that was discovered for the Droid Razr, how do you go about updating say the CM10 source with the new files? How do know what files need to be updated so the build will work with the new "system?"

Where are we upto with the DRIVERS!!!!

Hello everyone.
I know i have very few posts. This is mainly due to the fact that i have never owned a PDA yet!!!! but.....
I am so interested in buying a KAISER
I appreciate that there are loads of threads regarding the driver issue, but could we start a new thread. I have been browsing the threads on the numerous new Qualcomm devices and i can not find a 'where the hell are we at the moment' type thread.
What i propose is that we start a thread, where only the people trying to the figure the problem out and come up with a work around can post therefore keeping everybody upto date regarding were they intend to go or were they are with there current developments.
What do you guys think about it.
I'm sorry if this seems odd but i really want to buy a KAISER when i can upgrade in FEB, and I am losing my marbles constantly checking every thread under the sun that mentions about the drivers. Maybe we can delete some threads or merge some together. I dont know what will work best, i just think it would be a good idea to have all the information in one thread rather than several with loads of other posts in them.
Once again sorry if this is **** idea!!!!!!!!
I just made a new topic concerning them but posted it in the wrong forum

Poll/Opinions for organization of KFHD forum

Hey all, just wanted to ask people for their opinions because I've been thinking about something the last couple weeks. I noticed that in trying to go through the Q & A forum and answer questions for any problems people might be having, that there's no real line between what threads are for those with rooted kindles and for those on stock. It just all seems to be blending together. In one thread about wallpapers I think I saw 6 different topics (at least 4 or 5). Some were about root issus and some weren't. I saw one user post his question in 3 completely different threads in 2 different forums because he didn't know the proper place to ask. I believe it makes it really hard for anybody with problems to find anything and it also makes it harder for others to answer questions. So my question is, what do you guys think about it: how many people are confused about where to ask questions and how many are confused about the threads themselves in Q & A. I guess I'm looking for what your opinion is either way and what you think should be done about it if you do think it's confusing. Thanks guys.

I think it easy to find the right thread and when to make a new one. I do think there should be a Q and A thread for ROOTED KFHDs and one for STOCK KFHD it would make it easier for me and probably alot of other people to solve problems that way. Lastly, I think some people are new and don't know where to ask some questions. So search your topic before you post a new thread or post in a forum that has a different topic. Hope this was helpful for some people that are new or are confused.

Yeah that was kind of my general feeling about it. Just seems a bit scattered. Was trying to help one individual and I didn't know his kindle wasn't rooted with custom rom until a day and a half into our conversation. It wasn't his fault that didn't come up,I think we just both assumed the other knew what was going on. Just think like you said it would be easier to help people with questions. Just my thoughts.

Yeah makes sense to have two different threads for root users and none root users
I agree they should be seperate. Rooted and non rooted.

LG G2 Lollipop Update/port

So since no one seems to be ranting or asking the question about this, then I guess I will. And here's why. I read earlier this past week that LG would be pushing the update for their G3. I figure with that news out there and the idea of tweaking it to work on the G2, that there would be at least a beta out there? I've looked everywhere and I haven't found anything. I'm not sure how hard an LG is to port versus an HTC but I know that there are ports from the One m7, One m8, and One Max that work on the DNA. Anyways, I'm not trying to *****. I'm just curious as to why there isn't anything out yet? I'm ready to test drive the new 5.0 and I don't really like the nexus devices, nor do I have the money to go buy one out right. I'm just really wondering if anyone is even working on this or waiting for it to hit and then will start working on it??
1. I don't think you're allowed to post questions in development forum, ROMs only.
2. The G3 update is not as easy to port as you think as we're missing a kernel. The problem is even more complicated with the Verizon model because we don't have a CDMA Nexus model to base it on. Porting to GSM model can use some help from the existing Nexus 5 kernel. That's what I think.
Well.. I believe that someone(s) is working on a port for the G2. I'm sure that since they're doing it for free and in their spare time, they will release one when they have a "Good, Safe to Flash" version. Since I'm not a developer of any sort and just a very grateful user of their work.. I will continue to wait patiently until they see fit to release it. If I get tired of waiting then I will probably learn how to make one myself. That way I can have it when I want it.

First and foremost, this is in the wrong section, as stated before. This is not a Q&A forums (see sticky) and at 100 posts, you should know this.
Tim from ose and reven from liquid smooth along with eight other people, two being members working on cm are building cm12 for us.
Twice now it has been leaked, resulting in two broken builds, and doing nothing more then pissing off the guys working on it. It will come when they have it stable.
What? There is no lollipop port for the dna.
Please note the sticky at the top of the Dev forum going forward...
Sticky: ★ ☆ ✰ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting do not go in the Development Section. ✰ ☆ ★
You know I get that everyone isn't trying to be rude about my posting in the wrong section but I'm sorry it came across rude. Yes I have 100 posts or more. However I didn't read the sticky at all because in my opinion of I or someone else should have a root question there isn't a real section for it that is easily noticed called Root: ask your questions here. So I'm personally going to go to the section labeled development and for my carrier and ask those questions. Maybe my brain is wired wrong in the way but to me it seems like common sense. Anyways, I'm done with my polite rant. I appreciate the responses for the information they gave me. I'll just sit back and wait I suppose. I could always play with stuff on my DNA.
@CoyotesFan4Evr
Yeah, I dunno. There's a general Q&A and a Verizon specific Q&A and you're asking a question, so I don't know why it doesn't click.
The reason why you don't ask questions here, is because it would bog the entire forum down with questions versus Roms, and this place is for roms.
I get why I shouldn't have asked my question here. That part clicks just fine mostly anyways. Where it run up on the issue is that it says general questions. I'm a member on another forum and you don't ask general questions about a rooted phone in a section like that. There is a section called all things root for that type of question asking. So I hope the logic of why I asked on this part of the forum makes sense. But for the future I won't post in the wrong section anymore.
Honestly dude just be patient. Some of the Nexus devices are only just now getting the update, and it's going to be a little while longer before we see anything. CM12 is being worked on and we'll get a G3 port a little while after Lollipop hits the G3. I'm foaming at the mouth for L just as much as anyone else, but these things take time.
If you really want to try it out, there's an early CM12 build in the regular Android development forum. It runs but has some bugs on all versions. It's really nice outside of that.
How do I enable WiFi?
Haha, just ****tin' you.

[Q] baseband question

I recently installed a 12b baseband for the blisspop rom. I need to reintall the 24a baseband. How do I do this, or where do I find this? Thanks
Obviously you haven't been asking questions like this since 2008... If you search for what you are looking for you'll find that there exists at least 2 posts that contain links to the baseband you're looking for. Not being rude or disrespectful, but you've been on here for 6-7 years and ask how to flash a baseband AFTER you flashed the 12b...? How did you flash the 12b...?

I searched for about an hour, but the directions were not clear, imho. I did not want to brick the phone. Always better to ask first than face a brick later, I always thought.
I have done this once a year ago after rooting phone, but I am not a developer, don't do it on a daily basis, and this is a question/answer forum. You state, "not being rude or disrespectful", as in a self evaluation, but usually it is the recipient that makes said determination. I thought question and answer was for newbies and such, so I asked a newbie question. My guess is your expression of frustration with my lack of talent may make others hesitant to ask questions as well, assuming I am not totally wrong in my struggling to find clarity in the 2 and then some posts I read prior to posting the question.
After not getting help here, I did several hours more research, and then took a chance with a 24a baseband file in one of the "2 posts", and it worked just fine.
There are many more than 2 posts with the 24a baseband, but it was unclear to me, as I stated, I am not a developer, and while doing this since 2008, still consider myself a newbie, and I don't like bricked phones if I can avoid it, though I've managed to unbrick the bricks I have created, with ample help from patient senior posters with perhaps greater patience than I deserve.
Perhaps if you lack the patience to be truly helpful, you might want to stay away from newbie forums though, as your efforts may discourage some good questions, imo. Hopefully, I am not being rude or disrespectful, but I leave that to you to decide, or the keepers of the forum who may ban me, if they think I'm going over the line. Apologies in advance!

Question

Hello, considering it is now almost mid-2017 anyone that's rooted what do you consider to be the most stable feature filled ROMs available for this device (SM-N910T3)and is a different kernel needed? thank you!
OK well I will take the utter silence I'm getting for my a response to my question to mean :
A) Everyone in the Q&A section is UNrooted and on Stock TW.......(eww)
OR
B)Most people who own this older device don't really check the development forums for it much anymore....
OR
C)Most people who have just bought this device (like myself) or have owned it forever are jumping back and forth betwixt and between a bunch of ROMS with each one offering its own set of errors/problems/unhappiness and are also seeking the answer that I seek.
I KNOW its not because you're just too lazy to type the name of your current ROM/Kernel, I just know its not...
