Remote from note 2 - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just been to look at the galaxy camera before I part with my hard earned dosh
I want to remote to the camera from my note 2 as I do wedding photography and want to set the camera up at the back of the church when im at the front with my slr
The Samsung staff said sammys remote software should work but we couldn't get it to connect ... had anyone found a way ?
I can view pic on wifi direct but that's after the pic has taken
Cheers

You can use Teamviewer QS, install this in Galaxy Camera
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.quicksupport.market.samsung
Install TeamViewer for Remote Control in Note 2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.teamviewer.market.mobile
Then Launch in Camera, Type the number in Note 2, you may control ur camera right now. Of course you need data connection (wifi/3g) . I tried it works. but the camera in note 2 screen will be a bit large, u cant view the whole preview (need scroll) , better make sure the position of camera is right. hope this help.

Thanks, this kind of works but the sessions time out too quickly and the cursor idea is fiddly. I use a free app called 'Camera Remote' on the Play Store. Again there are a few instability problems but until the official Samsung Remote app becomes compatible then it's the best we can do.

Camera modification

Is it possible to take focus off, cus I'm out basicly all the time and wanting to rake photos which don't have the focus delay.
Unless there's a way to make the continuous mode shoot more than 9 slides.
Thanks.

Focus makes a REALLY BIG difference. I use Camerazoom instead of the stock camera. Takes REALLY GOOD photos compared to other cameras. I love it and highly recommend it.
I don't use any of the effects it brings but I've played with them and they're pretty awesome too.

Yeah but really annoying , I will give it a try , cheers
Or you could try fast burst camera lite. Its free and it has zero lag when taking photos!(Yeah! Zero lag! )
And it can also take 35 pics per second maximum...try it and see!

[VIDEO] Google Nexus 7 - Camera Test & Review

Thanks for the review, it looks like a decent camera under the more extreme tests you performed. I say this as most would use the cam for hangouts or Skype only.

Having used it for some video chat, this camera is barely even suitable for that. Unusable indoors under low light conditions.

I can understand the image quality suffering in doors with low lighting, but why would the frame rate drop so much? That seems like a glitch/software issue.

I agree. It was not what I had anticipated. I'm pretty fluent in cameras and photography, and there isn't really any reason for the camera hardware to do this, it's obviously software related. I plan on trying other apps to get a better handle on things.

I'd agree that the camera is good for what it is. It's definitely only viable for things along the lines of skype and google hangouts. It seems to have an issue with autofocusing as well but that could be software.

Could it be using some sort of frame-averaging algorithm in an attempt to reduce noise? Like take (30/7=4.29) four frames and average the noise out giving one good frame per four samples?
Thanks reverendkjr
Quality looks quite good.
I have Tango video call app installed on the Nexus 7 and on my Galaxy Note - comparing them side by side, looking at my face, there is more sharpness and detail from the Nexus 7 video (whether I'm using WiFi or 3G on Note), and I had always thought the Galaxy Note did quite well with its front-facing camera (certainly is better than the iPad 3!).
So I think Google has done a good job with this front camera - 1.3 MP vs. the Galaxy Note 1.9 MP.

I plan on taking a look at Tango, Skype, etc on this device in a later video. I had no idea that the Galaxy Note camera was 1.9MP. What an odd size.

Thanks, found the modaco camera launcher !
BTW on Skype the video quality is quite bad with a quality setting of high. On the same wifi connection, my galaxy nexus n laptop work fine.
Thanks great video!

exactly my point - not sure if this is a skype issue or a nexus 7 issue! i thought i could use this to skype when i am at airports, etc as i travel a lot. Unfortunately no, i am back to using my huge laptop or the tiny screen of galaxy nexus!

I'm getting similar results when using skype on different wifi networks. I think it may be a camera driver issue. Not sure. I haven't tried it with Tango or any other app just yet.
^^ has anyone tried with google hangouts or gtalk video or something? I am sure google tested this on atleast their own video services before launching the product. Skype does not officially support nexus 7 yet so it could be just a skype issue

Can't use lenses???

So being I skateboard and film with my phones for IG, I always used fisheye lenses on my phone, but on this one it will not focus for my life!! Tried manual focus, manual settings, all diff WB options, all diff video quality options and nothing will work. Wtf is up with that?!?! Kind of a note 5 killer for me, being I did purchase it for the video quality and live broadcasting... Anyone know how to fix this or is this just something that will not happen?

If you read my post, you'd see I stated I use it for IG. Didn't buy it specifically to use as a video camera, but people buy phones based on features they use most. The camera is a main feature I look for on my phones, and yes I have a normal camera I shoot and produce my vids with also, but I need quality for IG. If your answer is not pertaining to be helpful to my post, please don't answer. Thanks

No camera functions

I bought the note 8 one week ago and today i started exploring the camera app and... Nothing
No function, no 240fps for video, no camera function like panoramic photos, only live focus
I had the galaxy s7 before and it had way more functions, where are them?
I probably can't find them but i searched everywhere
You can download them, I guess it is for not overloading the phones with modes that the user does not want

Sorry to break it to you, but the S7 had more modes. Even after I downloaded extra ones from Samsung's website.
Even the effects are less, example one could increase an effect between the scales of 1-100% , that option doesn't even exist on the Note 8.
Edit. With effects I'm referring to vignet, starlight etc ...

Anyone manage to get Asus Remote Camera app working on Zenwatch 3?

I have the Asus Remote Camera app installed on my phone, but it doesn't appear on my Zenwatch 3 (which is running the latest stock firmware). Does anyone know if there's a way of getting this app to work on the Zenwatch, as I really miss the remote shutter feature.

The camera app that comes with the watch is no longer compatible it's too old.
If you want a excellent Remote Camera app for the watch here is the
playstore link for "Wear Camera":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ua.makeev.wearcamera&hl=en
This is the best one, it not only lets you see thru it's "virtual" viewfinder but it
also let's you take videos as well as snapshots and has many other features.
Good luck, have a great day!

Thanks for that. The app seems the work well on the Zenwatch. The only feature that it lacks compared to the Asus Remote Camera app, and it's quite a big one, is the ability to take a photo by turning your wrist. This is unbelievably useful if you're holding the phone with your arm outstretched (e.g. a selfie or an overhead shot), as in that situation you don't have a spare hand available to press the shutter on the watch! I've submitted it as a feature suggestion to the developer.
