Help Please! Phone in a power loop after ICS 3D LG Korean ROM Flash! - LG Thrill 4G

Anyone else having this issue? Procedure I followed was at "[ROM][ICS][P920] First ICS 4.0.4 Full 3D ROM Ported From SU760". Honestly, I'd really like to post this in the appropriate thread, but can't yet. I am experiencing the phone powering to the LG screen and off repeatedly upon plugging in a charger as well as hitting the power button. I had hoped it might just need juice but no dice. Does this really have anything to do with CWM? There is something about a modified USB cable in the original post that refers to a "screen issue" but there is no clarification to what issue. Here is my original post with a follow up:
Thanks!
OK maybe I should clarify

I do get the "S/W" screen with Korean text when I boot into download mode (if my terminology is correct i.e. up vol + power + connect usb cable to pc, then insert battery. How can I recover? Start over? How if I can't set connection settings on the device? ACK I have been at this far too long and must rest, hopefully with shiny new replies in the morning.
So to clarify, I had the ROM running fine. I was about to flash a zip, but was tired and had not loaded it onto the external SD. I am using the CWM referred to in the original post here:
"[ROM][ICS][P920] First ICS 4.0.4 Full 3D ROM Ported From SU760".
The app went through the motion but did not install anything, I assume. Then I hit "Boot to recovery." Could that have caused this? Now I get the LG screen and then no power, up to 3 times if I hold power. I am hesitant to follow any bootlooping procedure since I don't know if they apply to this phone and if that is the problem (it appears to be, but I am new to this. I WAS feeling nice that I was able to get ICS up and running). I cannot seemingly boot to recovery to reflash or downgrade. Also, when I connect to pc in download mode I get the Korean "S/W" screen with circular arrows and Korean text, but LG Flashtool does not connect. I recall hitting "Recover" in English during the original ROM flash. Please help!

I think it could be a bad ROM.
I assume that you can't boot to CWM/recovery mode and reflash a different ROM.
If I'm correct, I'd try to reinstall CWM via USB if possible...

Thanks for responding!
Someone IS out there...
I can't seem to boot the phone itself into CWM recovery no matter what. The phone was not left in debug mode, unfortunately. I am looking into using ADB to perform some kind of boot loop recover, but at this point am not confident in doing so. Any ideas here would be nice.
I see a boot loop recover guide on the forums, but it seems to assume I am able to boot the phone into CWM recover.
FYI I am not fluent in 'Android speak' but am getting there.
So if I am able to get a COM connection to the phone in download mode (which seems to be the case, as I mention with the S/W screen with circular arrows and Korean text- I do see a connection in Device Manager) is it possible then, to reinstall CWM as you mention? How? Would that, then, hopefully, revert it to a state where it is not, seemingly, attempting to implement some non-present process on booting?

OK Finally!
OK so NO one seemed to be able to help with my direct issue but I was able to at least reflash to the 'stock' Korean ICS port and get the phone up again. Ho Hum. Maybe I'll start an Android reflashing business. I will be trying AcidHazard mod to flash out all the bloatware. And DEFINITELY will be more careful with ClockworkMod.
This is what I did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803

Alright forget what I said about further flash for now
I was gonna try to flash in the Acid Hazard music rom which looks awesome, but the Prada CWM I installed (mentioned in the original xbsall ICS ROM installation procedure) once again caused a boot loop and I had to reflash the xbsall rom again. Until I see a CWM that I know will not cause this, I won't be booting into recovery. As I'd like to make a Nandroid backup, what is up with this CWM being a problem with my phone (ATT LG Thrill P925)? Anyone?

[Guide]How to flash a ROM on a 2.2 Captivate

Introduction
I've put together a video on how to flash a rom. It includes Rooting, Backing up data, Flashing a kernel, Flashing a rom, and troublehooting bad flashes.
Warning
Before you go and flash a ROM for the ultra-fast speeds, kick-butt graphics and awesome sound upgrades... Realize that the risks are real, it is possible for you to black-screen-brick (hard brick) your phone. Here is a real-world example:phone won't turn on. At this point, only JTAG recovery will be effective. I will be posting a video on JTAG soon enough.
You may feel more comfortable stopping after rooting and titanium backup, and not installing a ROM at all, that's OK.
How-To
If you are installing a ROM, then select the ClockWork Mod flashable zip you want and copy it to your phone's internal memory before you watch the video. I did not cover this in the video as there are many options. Team Komin recommends Andromeda3, but you may select any Captivate ROM.
Here is the video which I have prepared on flashing a custom ROM.

Tips, Tricks, Good to know
If you have a standard computer setup and you see your phone connected to a port higher then COM6, reboot your phone and your computer before flashing anything.
Phone--!--PC is just a download mode. If the computer does not recognize the phone, reinstall drivers, reboot and pull the battery out, then try again.
Odin is only used for initial and/or recovery modification. After using odin to flash a new kernel sucessfully, you will only need ClockWorkMod (CWM) to flash most kernels and ROMs. CWM is accessed by pressing and holding the 3 button combo.
If your phone displays Phone--!--PC and does not register a COM port on your computer follow the directions below
1. remove the usb cable, battery, sdcard, SIM.
2. wait 10 seconds, then insert the USB cable.
3. press and hold the 3 button combo while you insert the battery
4. continue to hold until phone's screen goes black twice and release power button.
5. timing is critical, it may not work the first time. Keep going until you see the COM port is connected properly.

Thanks for the guide adam, I'll be using this tonight. Could you possibly update this with a section on how to go back to a stock kb1 build? That would be great.

That's the link at the bottom. Odin3 1-click is a KB1 build. It will bring you back to stock KB1.

In a boot loop - Moved from Andromeda thread
Hi Adam, Just to get up everyone where we are. I had a flashing issue with Andromeda which resulted in the phone continuously rebooting; i.e. white screen Ursa Minor screen disembodied voice which I now think says missing operation, it definitely doesn't say backup operation, I've listened to it soooooooo many times. . .anyway I put the phone in download mode as you said - BTW this phone with phone off vol+vol then plug in USB and download appears. Holding the power button takes you -when the phone isn't loopiing of course- into recovery mode. I had already restarted the computer, - not a VM - restarted Odin 3 and tried to reflash. Pass! Reset and unfortunately I'm still in that loop can't get to recovery mode.
I removed the battery and USB. Held down all three buttons and with the USB cable connected put the battery back. I held through 2 screen goes black circuits. Second time up the screen shows a gray battery then goes black then I get the ATT screen followed by Ursa Minor and my now less than favorite voice. Doing the same without the USB cable I don;t get the battery but I do get the ATT splash screen between the two black screen and then that darling voice again. So that's where I am. Ideas please
Personally I would One-Click back to Stock. ROOT. Install CWM using Rom Manager. And then install Andromeda via CWM. (I usually skip re-rooting and just install from CWM via the update.zip from ROM Manager) See if that doesn't work... If it does, finish up by installing Ursa Minor #2 (or is it just Ursa Minor now?)
Great Work Adam! This is surely gonna help alot of new users!
On a other note, I'm concidaring to try A3 and was wondering if it's not exactly what I'm looking, can I flash over it (as it is really stock based) or am I better using Odin 1.7 again and flash another ROM?
Thanks!
Okay so I was writing this reply saying "I tried that first thing and have tried it several times in various ways since. It hangs, never got a progress bar" I had just tried it again (20 minutes of nothing) and was going to post the log out of Odin but I had closed it out so I thought what the heck I'll run it again. Danged if it didn't work this time.
I know this sounds odd but I think the difference was that I had Odin One Click running when I put the device into download mode instead of starting it after. As I said the only way into download mode I've found with this phone is powered off hold vol+vol then plug in USB. This time Odin was waiting, found the port and when I clicked start it worked. Heaven only knows if that is a quirk or coincidence.
Now off to see if I can flash this rom.
Thanks
^^ It can be tricky to get it into download mode, but there are several ways to do it on all phone. The important thing is that you get a sane COM port like COM8 or less on Odin3 1.7, and that you have download mode activated on the phone. Good to see that everything is working properly.

Get ursa minor on there and you can do anything!
The ursa minor kernel with ClockWork Mod flashed through Odin3 1.7 will support all ROMs designed for our phone. Some ROMs are not designed for our phone (Cyanogen Mod, MIUI) and have work-arounds supported by the developers. I skipped the portion of downloading a ROM because you can pick a ROM yourself, this video just gives you the tools to do so. You are more then welcome to use the "UrsaMinor.tar" file as a ClockWork Mod springboard to other ROMs or kernels, I just picked my own team's ROM for the video.

OK well I've confirmed that Odin One Click won't restore on this phone unless it is open on the Windows machine when I connect the USB port tot throw the phone into download.
I restored then went through the flashing process again. This time when when it rebooted it didn't loop but it wouldn't go into recovery. I used droid explorer to flip it to recovery mode. Inoted then that there was no adndromeda.zip package on the sd card. I assumed Ursa was supposed to pull that over because in the video it says to find it and install. In any case I drug it from the computer to Droid Explorer and then was able to find it and install the Rom. The unpack looked normal enough the system rebooted. I unplugged USB,gave it the three button fix roputine, and was back in the loop. No matter what I did it looped. The loop was slower this time and the voice clearly said Restore Operation. Not knowing enough to wander farther and unable to get into recovery now because Droid Explorer couldn't see the phone anymore I let Odin restore it. That's where I am now.
Suggestions?

Thanks! I'll try that out once I get home from work. The only thing I can say is that I wish that would've been up when I got my 1st cappy - would've saved me the trouble of having to Odin3 1 click
Once again, Great work!!
EDIT: This should be Stickied!
fireboss: redownload all links above, it is possible that something went wrong with the download process and a bit is missing somewhere.
-copy the rom of your choice to your SDCard (Team Komin recommends Andromeda3, but any will work)
-put the phone into download mode and flash ursa minor tar file using Odin3 1.7
-let it run though it's operation until it boots normally.
-remove the usb cord, press and hold 3 buttons to reboot into recovery
-select zip from SDCard- Andromeda3.zip
i dont see a link, or file attachment or any mention of 3e recovery in OP

You should always start odin BEFORE plugging the USB cable into your phone. I have never had an issue with odin on any of the phones I've flashed if I had it running before going into download mode. I also always restart odin between the initial flash and master clear if I'm going that far.

Right Bwolf
No need to mess with 3e recovery. UrsaMinor.tar overwrites 3e recovery and gives you CWM so you can begin flashing immediately.

That works. The biggest thing is that you are in download mode and you have a sane COM port like COM5 or 6, not COM14. As shown in the video, COM14 lead to Phone--!--PC..
I may do this video again with heimdall. it worked well.
mxracer101, any chance you can generate a pit file? I'd like to make Andromeda3 into a full heimdall flash where you simply put the phone into download mode, select the files, hit start, and let the stock phone boot into Andromeda3.

Staying optimistic....

Hi all, first off im not gonna say my tab is bricked im to much of a noob to do that, but I've gotta say I'm really worried that my tab might be toast. To cut a long story short my son gotta hold of my tab without my knowledge and flashed a rom onto it.From what i can ascertain he's not followed the instructions on installation, instead of using the computer he's downloaded a zip file with the rom on it,then he's gone into recovery mode via clockworkmod(i have rom manager app on my tab)he's then wiped the cache and the dalvik and then proceeded to install the rom from the SDcard that he'd downloaded earlier.Anyway he said it seemed to have worked because he got a message on screen saying thank you for installing overcom rom v2.0.1 hermes installation complete enjoy using it.The message was roughly like that anyway. It also said that the 1st boot could take a long time as it had to rebuild the cache and the dalvik. So wait he did,4 hours later and all that was on screen was.....GALAXY TAB
SAMSUNG......plus all the hardware keys were constantly lit.By this time id come in and discovered what he done.So i tried to put it into recovery mode so i could hopefully put another rom onto it.But when i press power and the up volume key it just goes straight to the screen i described above,I've not had a problem getting into recovery before but now zilch....Plus another thing when i plug in the charger in instead of getting the green battery symbol gradually filling up i instead get a grey battery symbol that just sits there and does nothing.
I'll be eternally grateful if anyone can get my tab going again,i bought it in the uk open to any network,so i guess its a european tab(ON BOX IT SAYS GT-P1000).Can anyone help me,I'm trying my best to stay positive lol.
Cheers dave.

Make sure your tab has enough charge (charge it if necessary by plugging it in wall socket even if there is no indication) After that try to boot it into download mode (power & volume down) or any detectable download mode by your pc. Get a stock rom from here or from anywhere (what rom was tab originally on froyo? Gingerbread?). Follow the instructions to flash that stock rom. Overcome guide has great instructions on how to restock your tab.
Kindly ask your questions in appropriate forums.
Thanks darkpal,i was on froyo, although i couldn't get into recovery mode i tried what you said, power button and volume down and was able to get into download mode.
So when i can get access to a suitable computer I'll try what you recommended.
Sorry if this post was in the wrong place my heads been all over the place since my tab has been down.
Thanks again for the tip and fingers crossed it will work. Dave

I was about 99% sure thats what your son did. He tried loading the gingerbread overcome rom over froyo. And that resulted on a non bootable state (or as some call it soft brick). GB has different bootloaders than froyo thats why a stock gingerbread should be installed first before overcome 2.X.
Hope to see you up and running soon
Good luck man... just try everything, never give up!
It's because of the wiped dalvic cache!
ps: you should check out some bootloop problem threads. use search!

[Q] Captivate Soft Brick - Need a rooted Odin solution.

Hi
My brother (a no-geek) has a captivate, and lives in a different city (I donot have physical access to the phone). He visited me few weeks ago and I installed CM-7 on his phone, i know my bad. Some of his videos were not working, so i asked him to update to the latest CM-7 build. He download the build, saved it on int sd_card and used ClockWork Recovery to install the selected ROM. Upon reboot it entered in never-ending splash screen. I found couple of odin ROMs, and posted him link, we tried to flash them, but no good.
Status --
The COM ports are detected, but the process at times halts at <SET PARTITION> at times at <SET UP>... at times all thread completed successful would show up as soon as hitting START.
I dont have a captivate, can someone please suggest a sure shot solution and post me a link for ODIN, with a root rom. I am using Team Whiskey on my Vibrant, and I prefer stable modified ROM because of its features and power.
I can explain him the process on skype using desktop sharing, but the ROM should be good. Thankyou very much in advance.
if he can access recovery, try wiping everything thru recovery then start again
Phone is in Soft Brick state.
Phone is in Soft Brick state. So i cannot boot into the phone and go to CW recovery.
What he needs is just a stable usb connection that's how he got to this point, bad communication between the phone and computer. On cm7 I beleive you need the nexus s drivers installed. Also make sure it's plugged into a usb port that's attached directly to the motherboard (back of pc, port 1 on laptop)
@studacris
I think the drivers are already installed good. The connection is also good, as i can the COM port detection in the ODIN, with one of the boxes changing its colour from NO-COLOUR to YELLOW-COLOUR.
I think the ROM builds are not good. They go action-less during flashing, actually nothing (progress bar) comes on phone, it keeps showing the Downloading screen, endlessly. Odin usually is stuck at at <SET PARTITION> at times at <SET UP>...
Can someone post a link for a test one click odin. Well i would prefer one click.
You did try DG's JF6 one click, thats the only one I use, how are you establishing dowload mode on the phone or are you even doing this.

if you could do all that, why would you need to send back for a new phone ? If you could do any of that, the OP wouldn't be in a non-functioning predicament

+1 If you read the OP the problem is he can't flash back to stock he is having problems flashing anything period, @ the OP correct me if I'm wrong but I have a strong hunch that you are leaving out some pretty crucial steps, I have a feeling that you are not putting the phone into download mode, I also believe that you are gonna need to make a jig and pay a visit to your brother to help him out especially if its bricked the same way mine just was flashing with cm7 roms. But if you are getting a com port to show without having to put in download mode then you are farther along in the boot process. If this is the case you may be able to adb into recovery do a full wipe excluding /boot and reflash. Will the PC recognize the phone with it in its current boot locked state? If so then recovering should be somewhat of a breeze.

- I am getting to downloading mode by
--- pressing the "vol +" and "vol -" buttons and then connecting the usb cable to the computer.
--- then removing the cable, after the phone enters the download mode. Then, start the odin and connect the phone through usb cable again. The odin detects the phone on one of the COM port.
- I havent tired wiping the phone through recovery. But i need to get to recovery first. I dont know in a soft brick state if i can get into recovery.
- regarding getting back to 2.1... i would like to flash to the latest version. Kies update is not an option for me, as i not in US.
This phone was purchased from craiglist, i used one click root method to root it and the same script an option to get the unlock codes. After that i experimented a lot on the phone with various scripts. Last i was using congnition on it. Then saw CM7, i liked it on my vibrant, so i flashed it on my captivate (which i got for my brother). Now i have to get back to some stable modified ROM... I am thinking about trying Srendipity or cog ROM... but before than i have to install a rooted stock ROM.
That is the story and issue... but thanks a lot for help. Any more suggestions.

Try putting the phone into download mode after you open Odin. Which version of Odin is this? Also, installing the nightly build of CM7 again often fixes the boot loop on the newer builds. I would try that if you can get to recovery.

[Q] Trying to install cwm on Captivate

Hi,
I have done a lot of reading and searching, and I think I understand most of the basic pieces of what I am trying to do and how to do it. Let me explain.
Ultimately, I want to be able to install custom roms to my captivate.
Firmware: 2.2
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: FROYO.UCKB1
I installed rom manager, but I see that with my hardware, I cannot install cwm recovery. It seems I need to downgrade my kernel using odin. Problem is, although I found the thread listing all of the kernels for download in zip format, I have no clue which one to use.
I found the instructions on how to reboot into cwm recovery, but without the new kernel, I cannot do it, at least that's what I gather.
Can you guys help me here? I know I am on the right track, but don't know what to do to go any farther. Also, I cannot get into recovery mode buy clicking the buttons. It seems I must now use adb. All I want to do at this point is reboot into cwm mode. Can that be so difficult.
Well, this is my first post. Thanks to all who reply.
Viper
3e recovery. Look in the stickies to fix that. OR flash another kernel (like Cog 4.x.x kernel) and flash a rom.
+1 to the above. Personally when flashing a custom ROM I just always start with JF6, the flash the green CWM update.zip file followed by the ROM, or if it's got an initial-kernel like many ROM's call for now days.
Quick stupid question...
Does the sim card need to be out to do this, or any of the other things I have been trying?

It does not matter. The whole (remove SDCARD and SIM steps) in my opinion have always been false info. The only reason I'd remove anything would be the SDCARD if using a recovery that's untested to ensure it's not formatted or something like that.
error?
No matter what I try flashing with odin, I get this message:
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
This indicates that the process failed. What gives?
Re-install your drivers. Then ensure the ODIN is open BEFORE connecting your phone in download mode. You can get the latest drivers in a package I made with ODIN here:
www.mediafire.com/?eyr42m5ilf03566
Edit: Also only use a genuine OEM cable when flashing. There are two many issues with non-oem cables and the usb data transfer they provide.
Need big time help now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Possible Brick!!!
Now i have been playing with flashing roms. Now I have a real problem.
I flashed darky 10.2 i believe and now I am in a boot loop. It cycles between the white att screen and a colored pixelated screen.
I have been reading and researching for hours now. Present time 3:15 am. Research tells me that the cappy is pretty much un-brickable.
I KNOW I have to get into either download mode or recovery mode. I cannot do either.
I have researched this subject exhaustively, but my brain is fried now, and I work at 6:00 and need my phone.
What to do????
I emplore anybody up at this time to help.

TIA

What ROM were you coming from? Did you try all the 3 button combos? or battery pull/Vol+/- then plug in usb? Next best thing is a Homemade/bought Jig.

Did you flash gingerbread bootloaders before flashing the ROM?
I am not amused by your phones performance
Did not flash gingerbread...
I apologize, my intent was not to amuse.
How now can I flash gingerbread if the phone wont stay powered on?
I ran home during my work break to check my replies.
Because I didn't flash gingerbread, I presume I was hasty in flashing darky becuause it seemed so great, is it possible to resurrect this phone?
I am feeling pretty discouraged.
Thanks and please continue to help.
As long as the phone shows any type of life its not Hardbricked and can be recovered with key combos or a Jig. Your fine. Get in to download mode and flash a clean stock and start over.
Entering recovery mode in my situation.
I am currently trying to hold the 2 button volume control and the power key.
The phone comes on to the att white screen, then goes black, then comes back on, etc...
I am very worried.
When I plug into the usb, it will connect to pc, then disconnect, then keep repeating this. I read that kies has an emergency recovery feature. But,, I can't connect to kies. Odin recognizes a port, but kies just says to connect your phone.
Any advice?

You don't need gingerbread BL for Darky 10.2. I've flashed Darky 10.2 before, his directions were pretty clear. I moved onto Fasty since his updates stopped. I suggest reading the stickies for making jigs or buying them as well. You can do it! & Good luck.
^what he said. You can try and taking out ur batter open odin, connect your phone hold Vol up and down insert battery. If that doesn't work you need a jig. Not hard to make, takes a little time though (if you peel a cheap cable for the plug that is)

Many Problems with installing Cyanogenmod on LG Optimus 4X HD...

Hello everybody,
so I'm as new to this forum as I am to the android world. Just this Wednesday i bought a new LG Optimus 4X HD on amazon.de
Thought it would be nice to start of with Cyanogenmod.
So I started my search for some good "How-To's"...it were many I went through and I already invested many hours in getting this running. Sadly it still doesn't work. I actually wanted to stay with one How-To but at one point there's always a download not working so that other sources are needed.
So what did I do...
-I rooted it yes (at this point I needed to download "Rooting Toolkit for Optimus 4X HD" which wasn't downloadable so i switched to another How-To, btw. first How-To: http://androidlegend.com/android-4-2-1-via-cyanogenmod-10-1-for-lg-optimus-4x-hd-p880-cm10-1/
-Installed "LG 4X Recovery 1.2" and installed this way CWM.
-At another point here I installed ROM Manager, installed it and went into Recovery and here happend the first problem, kernel panic.
Said something like "couldn't load kernel/wrong kernel", kernel panics...Me panics too
Anyway, force kill -> auto reboot -> still kernel panic -> again -> batterie out and a few times with usb cable connected to PC -> Batterie again, works :good:
Ok so Clockworkmods Rom Manager seemed to be not that good... did recovery boot with LG 4X Recovery, tada works, I go into the folder with the Cyanogenmod-zip and want to start the ROM installation and it says Status 7 (of course I googled Status 7 and searched here in the xda-boards for it, nothing helpful found yet)
Installed older version of LG 4X Recovery (1.1), still same fault.
I uninstall the ROM manager, redownload and reinstall, try to backup -> Kernel panic.
I search for a different How-To, yet nothing good happened. Others go something similar and say "at booting press On-Button and Volume down-button at the same time", I do that -> Kernel panic
I have no idea whats wrong with the kernel...but normal booting works fine.
Next I read something about needing to unlock bootloader, have a workthrough aka this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
After I enter "adb reboot oem-unlock" in DOS command window it should say something concerning "open bootloader", but not in my case, just a normal reboot happened (this is what it looks like at least). Checking the hidden menu also doesn't show anything as I don't have the option with the boot-loader status there.
Next trick, I go to LG Recovery again and first wipe the whole stuff and try then the Cyanogen istall, still doesn't work and as I wasn't able to backups before (tried Titanium but it froze at 12% and the stuff about ROM Manager is told^^) I now had a clean factory install, all my work before lost, nothing rooted and still a kernel which panics when I do the "safe-boot"(this volume- and on-button-thing).
I also tried 3-All-in-one solutions, neither of them worked. (2 german ones, and one english one)
So I think thats it, ah wrong, still not finished. I also tried to install a new kernel to erase that f****ng problem with the kernel panic. I choose to use WerwewolfJB_v005 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256899
the easy and fast way made the same as the try before with the "open bootloader"-try, just normal restart. When I enter the second line in the command line, it just says "waiting for device".
So yeah, thats it. I don't know what else to do. Does anyone know what I could also do, or is this case unsolvable? Is the Smartphone broken or did I make a mistake at any point? What should I do?
I'd be super glad if anyone could help me here. I hope I described my case well enough. I hope I didn't forget anything.
Thanks in advance!
Greetz chrisus
I am also new to this stuff but maybe i could help you anyway
What is the Firmware Version of your phone?
(Sorry for bad english )
The old "adb reboot oem-unlock" didn't work for me on UK, v234-000 either. I followed this thread instead and it worked perfectly first time.
As long as your phone has been turned on and connected to the network for long enough on v20x you should be fine - once you get the notification from LG about your phone being registered or similar then you'll be fine, normally a couple of hours.
Just reflash your phone to stock, wait for the notification and try the two-step method from the above post and you should be fine.
root , recorery and unlock boot loader
you must have your bootloader unlocked in order to flash kernels
( this worked for me but I can't guarantee it will work for others you can only try !! be aware when messing with firmware and bootloader you warranty could be voided )
make sure your phone is rooted you know if it is rooted because you will have superuser installed in your apps ( grey square icon with green android head on it ). if not I used this method to root my phone so try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688
if your phone is rooted next you will need a recovery this will help to backup your phone and create a restore point so in case any thing goes wrong. to install a recovery go to play store and download rom manager ( clockworkmod ) once installed open rom manger and select recovery setup. then select install or update recovery then select your phone ( lg optimus 4x hd). then select flash clockworkmod recovery. and then wait while it downloads and setup . hopefully when finished it will say succesfull. ( make sure phone is rooted or it wont work ) to check clockwork mod is working you can reboot into recovery through rom manager or power off phone then hold volume down key press power button to power up but keep holding volume down key until recovery boot up. ( be a wise option to backup phone now in recovery)
next to unlock bootloader ( so you can flash roms with kernels) go to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
and download the BL_unlock_new .rar file when its download copy it to your desktop on pc and then extract it to desktop on pc . now make sure your phone is not connected to your computer go to phone settings, then go to development options, and then select usb debugging on. once debugging is on now connect your phone to pc wait for it to connect you can keep your phone on charging mode. now open the BL_unlocking_new extracted folder on desktop on pc and double click on the BL_unlock file a box should open up on your desktop asking you to tap a key to continue so press a key now your phone should reboot and some white writing will appear on screen .on your desktop the bottom line should say please... now tap a key on computer it should say press any key to continue < waiting for device> now disconnect phone from computer look on phone screen it should say now ready! now hold power button for 10 secs and let phone reboot. to test if bootloader is unlocked on phone go to dail pad and dail this 3845#*880# you should get the hidden menu on your screen scroll down to bootloader unlock check and select then select bootloader unlock check and hopefully it should say unlock...
now you have root , recovery and bootloader unlock, now you can download a rom for this phone copy rom ( should be a zip file ) to your phone then open rom manager on phone and reboot in to recovery or power off phone, hold volume down button then press power button should now boot into recovery then you want to use volume keys to scroll down and select wipe data/factory reset with power button then scroll down and select advanced then scroll down and select wipe dalvik cache then you want to select go back then select install zip from sd card then select where you saved your rom sd card or external sd card then select rom then select install...
hopefully if that's helped you or anybody else ...

If the OP can possibly get his bootloader unlocked following the official method then he should, rather than using that file. Nobody really knows what all the 'fuses' that are blown by using that file do and that would certainly result in his warranty being voided in any country, whereas in a lot of countries his warranty won't actually be voided by using the official unlock method.

Ok, thanks for the answers so far. But still, wasn't able to get any further.
@Dexxon: Firmware version is 4.0.3
Besides: Kernel Version is 2.6.39.4 and there's also something written like "[email protected] #1" in the hidden menu...is this normal? AP Bootloader Verison unknown and AP OS Version is 2.6.39.4 also this jinwoo...
@SimonTS: I tried to unlock the bootloader with your link and advices (which is the same as i tried before).
Got a message saying "Thanks for buying this LG Phone..blabla" and I guess thats what you mentantioned about that informing.
Battery was loaded to 100% so i connected it to PC, said "LG Software Mode Connection" on the phone (before I always took that "data exchange connection"), went to the adb folder and made a command window there, entered "adb reboot-bootloader", smartphone reboots, should stay in LG window screen, but it doesn't. It just boots totally normal into the home screen.
@Hursty uk: As I said in the first post. Everything regarding the ROM Manager from CWM sends my Phone into kernel panic. As this is quite hard to get a normal reboot again (even battery out for some time and back-in doesn't solve this) I really prefere to not use this option. As it is just frustrating and doesn't help.
And yes it is already rooted (I have SuperSU and I checked it with the "Root Checker"-App) Everything says it is rooted. I rooted it with that method: androidlegend.com/how-to-root-lg-optimus-4x-hd-o4x-p880
Ah I really don't know what else to do. Is something just wrong with my device?
btw I also can't do a software update with the LG Software from there website, so I could at least go 4.1 instead of 4.0.3 atm...
When I try it that way, and install the USB-Drvier for LG P880 the SW-Update button stays grey and is unclickable even though the phone is connected.

To unlock the bootloader following either of the official methods requires you to be running v20x (The LG Stock v4.1 code) first, so that is why the commands are doing nothing for you.
For the moment, forget about CWM, Root, Bootloaders etc - the key thing is to get your phone working again. Can you reinstall stock v10x software following the guide on this page?

that would of been my next answer @SimonTS . A while back a flashed something on my phone and it got stuck at the lg bootup picture what I had to do was re-install original firmware ( through KDZ files) to get my phone working. I would try the link @SimonTS suggested .

Indeed - sorry, having a slightly dense day and was more thinking about getting him back to the stage at which his phone was working correctly before.

Thanks for that link, I tried it but that also didn't work (at least I guess so...)
I did everything like said at the link but at the last point the program (kdz_fw_upd.exe) crashes. Tried it 3 times, every time as administrator like mentioned in that forum post. I'm using Win 8 64bit btw...
Screenshot is in the attached .jpg. My system is japanese, but I think you can figure out what this kind of window means. It just says that the program isn't responding and needs to be shutdown.
I tried it like mentioned with putting the battery back in when the log starts and without putting it back in, in both cases the program crashes after a few seconds (~10 secs) when started.
Where do I actually see which V**x version is installed? If v10x or v20a? Surprisingly the LG Support Tool said I have v10H when the phone was still connected after the crash. And it offered me a SW-Update. But I haven't done that one yet, not sure if that would work correct...

+1 this. Also, there have been many problems with running these apps using Windows 8, and you need to make sure you're not using a USB 3 port as they being other problems in to the equation.

Ok so I've flashed JB with the LG Updater (without batterie and volume down button pressed connecting to PC, than start the update -> meanwhile putting batterie back in)
JB worked just fine and I also don't had the problem with the kernel panic when booting with volume down and power button.
So I thought, everything fresh and also different, I might give the ROM Manager App again a try (after I rooted it that way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688 )...well, wasn't that smart. After I installed the Recovery for P880 in the ROM Manager, i made a normal boot (just for sure), back in the app, i wanted to go into Recovery mode and again kernel panic, bit different this time cause it does a shutdown after 5 seconds^^
Anyway, this way it didn't work, from now on I also couldn't go into safe mode anymore, same kernel panic.
As this kind of recovery doesn't seem to work, I tried the "old" way with the "LG 4X Recovery" I mentioned before. After recovery installation i just wanted to boot normal aaaand nothing happened. It stayed in the LG screen. Restart and anything didn't help here so I backed back to v10H with previous methods. Now I just got a security error saying "morning call is empty", no idea what that means but I just did the same method for JB again.
Worked afterwards, so I wanted to try it without ROM Manager Recovery installed and just LG 4X Recovery, (after rooted again of course) and it didn't boot again. Same game again.
So now I have JB installed, I'm going to root it now again, but I don't know what way I should go for doing the Recovery Part. I'm stuck on point 3 here
Any advices? btw thanks a lot until here, at least I made it half-way-through to JB now. Worst case I'd stay with that one at least.
I'm not entirely sure which threads you've been reading. Once you have the stock v20x ROM on your phone, just leave it alone for a few hours and make sure it is fully charged
After that, try to unlock the bootloader before doing anything else. If that works then you can worry about CWM and custom ROMs.

ok.
now i suppose you have a functional rooted JB 4.1.2 device.
from that you have to going on to rest of the steps to have CM installed on your device.so if it is not that (functional rooted JB device) is need to flash again JB and rooted again.
if you have the proper kdz file the tutorial for flasing is there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
and the tutorial for rooting device is there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688&highlight=root+jb+4+1+2+
after that make some reboot of device to verify that:
1. the device boot to system normaly a few times (just let the device boot itself)
2. the device enter in S/W Upgrade Mode (with the device off, put the USB cable in device and PC or in device and AC adapter and press VOL DOWN + POWER) a few times
3. the device boot in Stock Recovery (with the device off, press VOL DOWN + POWER) a few time.
if you can manage to do this tree steps a few times normaly then you have a fully functional device and we go to next step that is Custom Recovery
the chance to make this steps without errors is more big if you start from scratch meaning fully wipe the device and flashing stock LG software on the device.
so, let as know here when you are ready...

he should unlock bootloader before flashing custom recovery.
so, dont use rom manager before you unlock bootloader, that's why you get kernel panics.
