if we can do its very beatifull

It's not fully finished os. We cannot port it or build from source unless its finished. They have test builds for galaxy nexus and they say it lags a little but on ace it will lag as hell so wait until its finished.

In ubuntu website, they emphasize on dual core phones. It would be one heck of a task. I think they will release sources soon enough. A stable android rom themed and modded like ubuntu would be nice though.

I'd say it will be similar as CM10.1
Bugs and not very good performance.

It will probably be like ICS it will be a pain to port. And I don't think that our system storage will fot all those amazing features.

yeah, thats right let just wait and see. .

And even if it is finished, I doubt if it will work properly
After all, ours is armv6 which is really obsolete

in my opinion
If i were you i'll save money for buying a better smartphone. It's true that nexus S has the support of a bigger community than the OP(very bigger) but the official support by google is finished. Nexus S is dying
It'is also true that 512 RAM is becoming too little for a smartphone ( i think that since android 5.0 the least will by 1 GB RAM)
For hardware: ht*p://versusio.com/en/lg-optimus-black-p970-vs-samsung-nexus-s[/url] (can't link, because i'm new to xda)

Here is a benchmark 1GHz Cortex A8 vs A9 vs Atom:

Cortex A9 is...better of course, but I think our Black will be "just" capable to run Ubuntu Phone OS.
well Canonical said that if our device run Android , it will run Ubuntu without a problem :good:

Come on... How anyone could possible know that? And then, it will be the same with CM. It is needed to make a ROM compatible with our P970.
I just came here to post a thread about Ubuntu Phone in our OB and there's one already :silly:
Crazy to see that in my phone :victory:
edit
btw, do we have any badass developers from OB family interested on porting Ubuntu Phone for us? Cuz I'm pretty sure won't be any official release of it
the image for Nexus Phones will be avaible here tomorrow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch?action=show&redirect=UbuntuPhone

Ubuntu Phone image availability

Hey!
We're preparing an image for Ubuntu for Phones and it should be available towards the end of February. You can keep up to date by joining our irc channel #ubuntu-phone on Freenode IRC or by madly pressing F5 on the Ubuntu Wiki page (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuPhone) which is called UbuntuPhone over the next two months
Thanks for the interest!
Edit: Image will be for the Galaxy Nexus, but no doubt you guys will be able to fettle it to work on some other device I'd imagine
Thank you for posting! I'm looking forward to it. I would like to feature this on XDATV ASAP!
Thanks for the encouraging words about the petition! And thanks for keeping us informed!

Nexus and HTC aren't mutually exclusive brands, but yes Canonical said the initial images will be for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I'm sure there will be unofficial ports as well.
Bring it on... lol i am supppper excited...

Looks like my purchase of the Galaxy Nexus last Fall was prophetic to say the least. I'm pretty excited to get the image.
[Q] Can we expect an image for Galaxy SII (GT-I9100) too?
I think the HW spec is not very different
I wish you good luck with your project :good:
(subscribed thread)
Officialy we can expect Galaxy Nexus image next month.
Ubuntu Phone
Oh, man. Can't wait for the port to my Desire HD/Inspire. Dual-booting with that would be simply AMAZING!
Just saw the vid of this, seems very interesting. I cant wait to give it a try

ubuntu rom for samsung galaxy ace please!!!
An unlockable bootloader Intel Atom based phone (Motorola RAZR i) would also be a great project. I noticed in the information it says that Intel Atoms can run the higher-end Ubuntu Phone OS. I am imagining the possibilities here of x86 Ubuntu Phone

IFK if the idea of an x86 phone would be good. It is just an inefficient design compared to Arm IMO.

To be honest i have no idea.
I know there are some tuts about how to port a rom but the SII and S are two completly diffrent phones so it will be a hard an long job to do so.

That would have taken extensive coding, reworking of the whole framework and the system as well as a hell of a lot of rearranging. Even then, essential features such as video recording, the microphone and the vibrator still don't work.
However, no reason why it should be a dead end. The devs on that project showed that a semi-functional SII ICS port was possible. Just that its incredibly hard to do.

4.2.2 S3 port

Hi!
I am just wondering if anyone is working on a port of the S3 4.2.2 leak?
Me too.
+1
The rom for our phones should be released by the end of June...
Why would you want a port of an unfinished test beta firmware ??

The same reason the people who are using the leak!
I don't see why it would be that hard since most of the stuff we get comes from the i9300.
I have even seen a port from the i7105 for ours.
I would do it if I knew what I was doing.

Somebody with some spare time should try to port it with the guide that audism has written!
Im just wondering if s3 will not get air gesture features because of lack in RAM, will our i9305 get it? Because it has twice ram as i9300. Just asking.
I9300/I9305 are actually lacking some hardware compared to the S4 like the 2 infra-red sensors around the top speaker.
I don't know about Sammy releases, but AOSP ROMs are available in a number of flavours. Just head over to the Android Dev forum...

You can always port a kernel!
Well that's what I heard in the problem. I mean I see the devs making ports of all sorts but not this leak which would be so awesome if they could!

Plus don't you all think that with all the great devs around here there would have been a port done like the next day?
I finally seen a port of the Omega ROM but not sure how well it is.

Porting a kernel is hard! That is probably why it haven't happend!
