Recovery mode won't load - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, for some reason my recovery mode won't work on my Samsung Galaxy S Advance. Whenever I try (volume up, home, power button) it just boots normally (power button). It doesn't even boot into download mode (volume down, home, power button)
I changed my build.prop file to a Galaxy S 2 GT-19100 and I'm planning to use Clockwork Mod to replace my missing recovery mode.
In selecting which device I have, do I click Samsung Galaxy S Advance or Galaxy S2 ?
I just wanna be careful with what I'm doing. Thanks.

First wrong forum, this is forum for developers to present their work. You should post in General I9070 forum!
About that with recovery, try to reinstall kernel. You are rooted, as you change build.prop. Use this.
Code:
1. Extract the attached file twice. You will end up with a kernel.bin.md5 file
2. Put the kernel.bin.md5 file to /sdcard
3. Start adb shell
4. Do the following commands:
Code:
$ su
# dd if=/sdcard/kernel.bin.md5 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p15
# reboot
5. Wait for the device to reboot.
Or, if you do not have adb shell on your PC, you can do steps from 4 to 5 on mobile. With Terminal emulator from Play store.
And I have to dissapoint you, and your plan. There is no working CWM for our phone yet. But there is TWRP. (with method I menton in this post).

Oh, I'm sorry, shut_down, still pretty fresh here. I'll know where to post next time thanks to you.
How I wish we had more developers for our phone. I hate how our phones are forgotten a little bit. Anyway thank you I'll try this and let you know !

Yes. But you need to unpack kernel till you get: kernel.bin.md5.

Where can I find the kernel ?

But if you are inexpirienced, maybe better ask someone to do it for you... If you have.

Using CWM as my recovery console as well.

GalaxyS rebooting in loop and no download mode!

Hi,
I have flashed my GalaxyS with the hardcore kernel. (I rebooted in download mode with "adb reboot download" bacause the 3 key combination didn't work for me).
Now the device is rebooting endlessly with the boot screen "GalaxyS".
I can't access download mode now.
How can I fix this issue?

Hm okay - lets think... you didn't get in Download-Mode before... Now you have a bootloop (what FW do you were on? What Speedmod Version did you flash? etc...) - why should you get in Download-Mode now...
Can you go in Recovery?
If so then you can use "adb reboot download" another time

Hi , if you cannot access download mode through adb or the three button combo you will have to make or buy a USB jig to force download mode (search xda or Google or eBay) then next step is install stock firmware .

1.The combination button must follow corect order [Vol up (or down) + Home + Power]
2.Try to remove battery and put it back, then go to Download mode.
That is my experience..good luck, my friend
First thing you do before anything else is making sure you have 3buttoncombination. Which you didnt or else you wouldnt have been in this mess.

Bootloader is different than Download mode. It is of no use in our phone. Some phones have some bootloader menu while the Ace does not have one. So when you choose bootloader, the phone will just do a reboot!

Sorry to be such a nuisance, but I am a complete beginner. I have Odin, I have downloaded the two files, where do I put what to flash it?!

Okay I got this from the post, so I'm gonna elaborate this to you so you do it correctly, okay? Note this, I'm using the XDA app to reply this.
1. Turn on USB debugging.
2. Open Odin on your computer. Select OPS - AriesVE.ops(Odin) and Select BOOT - Boot_loader.tar.
3. Turn off your phone and go into Download Mode(Volume Down + Home + Power Button)
4. Connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable.
5. Check Odin. If Odin detects your phone, it will appear yellow and state Com: 0 or something like that.
6. Then, flash your phone. Wait for it to complete the process and let Odin reboot your phone.
If problem still persist, please do tell me.
Another note, this is base on my experience and I'm not on or near my computer. So I'm sorry if anything happens.
Good luck!

Your welcome! I hope my assist helped you whether big or small!
Just make sure, you do the regular protocols, backup everything and wipe data etc.
If you want a fresh phone(meaning to delete your current/older rom for a newer one), you could always format system(formatting the system will delete your ROM, meaning your phone will not boot until you flash another ROM).

[Q] Ace Wont Go into CWM Recovery mode

Hi Guys,
**Alert : Noob Here **
So, I decided to install some custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 and went through loads of information on how to do so. So this is what i did - ( from the start) :
a. Rooted the phone ( from a file called upd_1.zip ( 925KB) by going into recovery mode)..
It worked fine and my phone got a 'superuser' on the application drawer.
b. Installed 'recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix' using the recover mode. ( had to rename the file to update.zip coz the recovery mode was not reading the file ).. Worked properly as i got another application 'CWM' on my application drawer.
c. Now, just to check if my CWM was doing good in recovery mode, I switched off my cell, pressed 'vol-up + home + power-up' button to go into recovery mode.. I got some text on the top left corner of the screen with a SAMSUNG logo on the screen...and then it got stuck there...i waited for some time but nothing happened.
I removed the battery and tried switching on the phone normally ( just power-up the phone ) (just to ensure that it still works) and now, the phone is stuck with the SAMSUNG logo on the screen and doesn't work at all !!!
I am confused as after installing CWM, i did switch on the phone normally and it seemed to work fine..but now after I pressed 'vol-up + home + power-up' buttons, its stuck at the black screen with LOGO on it...
Any clue what's wrong with my phone??

You have used the wrong combo & have got yourself in the ram dump mode. The combination for recovery is, power + home button simultaneously & when something appears on phone, leave the power button while still holding the home key. Btw, no need to announce a high alert that you're a noob or such unless you're a badass

**BUT**
I still want to instal custom ROM to my device...and since I ve committed a mistake in he past doing so, will any1 would be kind enough to show me the path ( link ) to enlightenment ( installing custom ROM from the start ) ?
So,
I thought its better to search for things ranther than troubling you guys to spoon feed me everything...
For rooting, I am gonna try doing everything from the start and be a little more attentive.
1. So, from hubix's guide, I downloaded the below mentioned bold file:
"SuperOneClick 2.3.3 (for 2.2> firmwares) or Universal Gingerbread Root/Unroot (for 2.3< firmwares)"
2. To install CWM , i downloaded the following file :
"ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6 (Fixed!)""
3. Since my phone Android version is 2.3.6, I would go with 'Db' method of rooting :
"Db. Rooting for 2.3.x (NEW METHOD!):
Download file called universal_gb_root_v25.zip and copy it to your sdcard
Turn off your phone
Press POWER+HOME BUTTON
Select update from sdcard, select the file universal_gb_root_v25.zip
After the update completed - reboot
Now you have rooted S5830"
4. Then, follow up the the Flash Custom Recovery steps from the same page, which is as follows :
Put recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.zip into SD Card
Turn off your phone
Press POWER+HOME BUTTON
Select Update Zip From SD-Card option. [If you are on previous version of CWM recovery then you might need to select Install Zip From SD Card and then Choose Zip From SD Card Option simultaneously. ]
Select recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.zip and flash it
Reboot your device
Please let me know if I am correct or will following these steps would screw up my phone again ???

What is this supposed to mean ?? Are there any other parameters which decide on the factors on what ROMs can be costumed installed??

I probably can't. But you can try as followed:
- Install Samsung drivers + start ODIN (You probably already have)
- Pull out battery
- Put in USB cable (I'm sure you have tried another cable yet)
- Press key combo for download mode (Vol down + power + home)
- Put the battery back in while still holding down the keys.

Mate, calm down, you can get into download mode- everything is okay
All you need to do is reflash a stock 2.3.6 rom and see if that solves your problems.
