Battery Replacement - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My note is already 14 months old. Currently I am getting very very less battery back up. Screen on time 2 hours maximum. And after 5% it starting screen flickering and suddenly went off. So my question is do I need to replace with new Samsung 2500 mh battery? If I need to replace then what will be the recommended steps to follow after replacing old with new one. Do I need to caliber at the time of first usage. Or need to full charge like 10- 15 hrs at the time of first usage. Pleas advice.

[Q] Nexus One Battery Life Problem

Hi, I've been reading through xda-developers forums for a long time now and i'm happy to say you all have helped me through all the problems i've ever face with my N1. This is my first thread here. Sadly, with a weird problem.
I've had the N1 since google first gave it to its employees till this January, then i got the Gnex. So, I gave my N1 to my mom cuz' she seemed to like it. Anyway, until the day i handed it over to her I used to get a solid 24 ~ 40 hours of battery life on normal day-to-day usage. I factory reset the phone and handed it over to her. Since she got it, she's been complaining that the battery doesn't last more than 3 or 4 hours and it gets ridiculously hot when charging (stock battery). So, I told her to get a new battery from amazon and she did. But, the problem still persists with this new battery too.
It's running on Stock rom.
So, any suggestions please?
You can benchmark you battery life time with this application :
Battery Drain
I was used to have 5% per hour with my stock rom. But When using it much a day, I could reach more than 25%/hour. Wich correspond to 4 hour of battery life

Flickering Problem Below 50% (ICS,JB)

I have contatced some Developers too but just wanted more opinions..
Here`s the problem.
Once my phone hits 50% and if i try using it after that,The screen starts to flicker..
Strange waves start appearing on the screen {Top to Bottom}
If i continue using... the waves increases and after few seconds the phone Switches Off
After around 10Minutes If i try to switch it back on...It switches on with 1% Battery...
If i put to charge it satrts from 1% if i restart once while charging it starts from 50%
So what is happening here and what is wrong with my phone..
I went back to Rooted KL3 Ginger Bread (I did not have this problem in Ginger Bread)
I flashed a safe ICS (Alliance)
It started again...
Flashed Alliance JB and it still remains,I have tried Rocket,Chrack,Crash and all Roms out there..
I did some research and got to know that sammy`s ics update had this problem,
I am open for all kinds of suggestions here :fingers-crossed::crying::angel:

I have this problem too, I think it's the battery dying, cos I've noticed that it got swollen up a bit too, so I already ordered a replacement battery.

Battery Fault
This is a battery fault.
I had this and it went away when I changed my battery.
The only solution is to change the battery.
i had exactly the same problem!
your battery is dead. you should replace it immediately
i bought two of those:
http://www.amazon.com/2700mAh-Batte...F8&qid=1352243234&sr=8-3&keywords=n7000+anker
since i replaced the the battery everything works fine.
and those anker batterys are awesome
Thanks guys and YES, I checked the battery and the shape seems to be odd...
I guess it's time to change the battery...
Thanks a lot for the responses guys..
Had the same issue 2 weeks ago. Took the battery out and tried to spin it on a flat surface. It spinned with ease and had bulged. Bought a new one from Samsung and now have no issues and battery life is great

this is an ongoing issue. seems like the battery is dead after a year with signs of bloating. this never happened to my HD2 or Xperia X10. whats going on?
Its not uncommon for batteries to drastically lose their effectiveness after a year or so -- which is why I hate phones that don't have user-replaceble batteries.

This is the most common thing now. I have seen that the stock batteries are not lasting more than a year.
Just go ahead and buy a new battery. It surely is not the ROM
Is it gona blast or something? Lol coz I really need to use that phone untill new battery comes

Buy A new battery & everything will become normal
The same has happened with me. My Note is 13 Months old.
I was playing game AVP Evolution till late night. And in the morning battery died, I charged it to full 100% but as soon as i boot up with in 4 second the phone again switched off , No battery low warning nothing. It is really strange but the fact is that the Samsung battery are just die completely all of a sudden, unlike other phones battery which dies gradually as it looses power and all that ........
I ordered a new battery & everything is fine now.
My old battery is unable to boot my phone even for 5 sec.
I am running my note on the swollen battery for about 8 hours now xP.Sometimes it switch off as soon as I turn it on but rest of the time it runs just fine.Anyways I ordered a new battery.

likeliness of it "blasting"... not very likely.. possibility of it "blasting".. it is possible..
batteries just go bad... a battery is only solid for around 500 charges then they just start losing their charge faster. i mean we are using small computers so this is just going to happen more and more. different reasons could cause this.... use of phone (it is what its designed to do..lol), a "cell" could just go bad causing the swelling, the circuitry in the battery fails causing the swelling, your charger goes bad and takes the battery with it (i had a cat bite thru a cable and it ground out..next day the battery showed signs of swelling and within a week you couldnt snap the battery cover on)... etc....
use is up to the user and their needs... there is a danger of the battery shorting the phone out totally and it never working again too. its not something that happens often but it is a solid possibility, so basically use good judgement...
it's usually caused by over charged (u don't unplug the charger when it reach 100%).
I've been using my Note more than a year and my battery still flat as it is new.

i beg to differ... the batteries have smart circuitry to protect against this. overcharging has not been a problem for years... i personally have left one of my notes on charge for days... it always stays on charge for 5-6 hrs past it being 100% and it still is a strong battery.. also just because a battery is flat doesnt mean its good... the swelling just makes the fact it is going bad more obvious...
I agree with kawgirl

[Q] About battery indicator

Hi all. I have bought a used Galaxy Ace about 1 month ago. When I first bought it, there is an issue for the battery, it's swollen and the battery life is terrible. Then I get a replacement recently which is Sunglobal 1800MAH battery (costs me about MYR80 or USD25). The battery life seems to improve alot, but the battery indicator are troublesome. It does not indicates the accurate reading of the battery level. Thus I getting ladder pattern battery usage history stats. I have tried wipe battery stats etc. method and still does not solve the problem. What should I do?

There's nothing wrong with the graph. It is normal. Just forget it, your battery is doing great. Btw, take your battery to the service centre. You have a 6 months warranty on it if you have the bill & you might get a replacement for it.

For me it's suppose to be smooth drop isn't it? It stays at a particular level for a very long time, and once you use it drops stiffly. (and it will stays at a particular level a long time again)
Oh, the phone is already out of warranty already. So can't get the replacement battery.
Sorry. I didn't notice that it was actually a used galaxy ace. Btw, why worry about the graph when battery life is awesome ?!

Sounds like your battery might be failing.

Absolutely positive it's your battery. Had the same issue. Changed battery, issue fixed.
It's a good idea to get a new battery after a year.

I have put in a new battery from other note 4 and checking to see what's going on with it.

As others have said, get a new battery. I was having this problem a few months ago. As soon as i replaced my battery it hasn't happened ONCE since.
Here's a link to a cheap GREAT quality battery :
Galaxy Note 4 Battery, Anker 3220mAh Li-ion Battery for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PTVUWRQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_gDaowb0FXZW19

This happened to me too. It is 99.9% a battery problem.
Unfortunately, I was in the 0.1% where even a new battery made my phone restart randomly.
Maybe it just my bad luck that the second battery was bad on arrival. But I didn't want to take any chances.
I have requested a warranty replacement from T-Mobile.
I've had this same problem for the last few months and tried three replacement batteries, two cheap oems off eBay and one pricey mofo off the Samsung site. No avail, from what I've read this might also be a bug in lollipop that you'll just have to wait out even though it's infuriating.
I was having the same problem i have insurance with t-mobile they sent me a replacement battery haven't had the problem since. definitely get it replaced.
same here. original battery that came with the phone most of the time dies at around 30%, i got a replacement battery (battery & charge kit from samsung, used that 50% off coupon you get after registering device) a few months after getting the phone and that 1 drains down normally. i may get a replacement battery through tmo insurance.
I had the same problem to called T-Mobile to get a replacement. They told me they don't replace batteries, had to go through Samsung to get a replacement battery.
Was wondering if your phones were hot when they died? Have a N910T3 which went dark at least 3 times recently. Had to pull battery before I could turn on again. Troubleshooting now.
Also seeing an intermittent SD card unmount issue which I fixed by wedging a piece of paper to increase pressure on the contact pins. Haven't had a reboot so far.
