[Q] what micro sd for a xperia T and can it use that memory for apps etc - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Just order a xperia T from o2 ( really got a good deal) and I was wondering whats the bests card for it, also I've read that it can only use 2 gig on handset memory for app etc. Is that true and if so I assume it can use the sd charge memory when it runs out?

There are threads in this forum discussing the exactly same matter, please use search function first.
I have 32GB C10 micro SD and it works great. Many people said they got 64GB micro SD to work as well. If you didn't root, you can't save the entire app to SD card, but some apps allow to move app data to SD card.

32 gb memory card?

I'm having issues with my tab not recognizing files from the sd card, Ill put media or videos on the card and they will be deleted whenever I transfer the card to my tab or disengage usb mode. It occurs when using oldmacnuts better than life rom or cm7. I thought 32gb cards were compatible with the tab, am I wrong?

Might be an issue with the card there are a LOT of 'hacked' memory cards out there. A 2gb card is firmware hacked to read as a 32gb card by PC/Laptop/Tablet, then a three is printed on the card before the 2gb to look like a 32gb card. Try formatting the card and only put a few files on it (less than 2gb) and try it to find out if the same problems occur. If the card works fine then its probably a hacked 2gb card, with the hacked card it does appear as if more than 2gb files are on it but on trying to play the files (once you go over the 2gb) the card throws up different errors and will not play the file or files.
I have a 32gb Adata class 10 card that works perfectly in my Tab. Stock, Better than Life, and now CM7, all read it just fine. Sounds like you might have a bad card like ericbt32 mentioned.. depending on where you bought it you might have been scammed.

For those who wonder if their card is fake or not, try the card in HDTUNE. Look at the attached pic , it's fake microSD 32GB, the curve shows the true capacity (here 2GB) ,then jump and display a perfectly straight line.

Storage issues: Sd Cards

Hey,
Can someone explain/clarify our phones storage to me.
It looks like we have 2 partitions on our phone...sortof ...
~8+GB of what it calls Phone storage, but is actually part of the phone storage.
And ~4GB of what it calls, Internal Storage...
BUT both are actually the phones storage?
This excludes any MicroSD card you may have put in the phone.
I have a SanDisk 64GB MicroSD Card... which so fare has been pretty useless on this phone...other than saving digital recordings...and photos (strangely the same photos are saved on the "Phone Storage" to although I have it marked for save to "Storage CArd")...
Can we move apps to our Micro Sd cards, like with the old WM phones?
Thanks for the clarification and help
BTW: I'm running the stock GB Rom
get the app apps2sd or link2sd
i dont think the vivid supports 64 gig micro sd card..i think the highest u can go is 32 gigs

Nope. Mine has had 64GB card for months (almost a year now, bought not long after purchasing the phone)...working fine, like a number of other people on here.
Saves pictures, attachments, music, etc.
Here's an old post on it, I know I started one way back when too so there are a few about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563079
Got a ScanDisk MicroSDHC...or HX something 64GB class 6 for ~30 at BestBuy...
I'll try the app given...can anyone answer the partition questions?
I know the operating system takes some 5GBs, but I don't have +6GB of apps so I can't figure out where my Rom is going.

[Q] Upgrading to a newer SD card?

Hi,
In a week or two, I would like to upgrade my SD card. 2GB card that came with the phone is way too small to hold a larger amount of media, namely MP3s, videos, pictures, backups, and the like.
What I was thinking was to buy a card with at least 8GB of storage, and the highest class possible for the X8 to handle. Several questions arise from this.
Are there any compatibility issues regarding the class, size and type of SD card with our phone? Can I just buy a 32GB class 10 card and be happy with it, or is it better to buy a card with more conservative characteristics?
There is this Kingston card here on the market that's quite cheap, yet it claims to be class 10. What are your experiences with Kingston cards and are they any good?
Lastly, can someone point me to the best and safest way to move all data to a new card from the current one, while preserving all references and data in the process? Keep in mind I have a number of apps on my SD card.
First nackup all your apps via titanium backup.
Now copy the old sd cards content into the newer one.
Now restore the apps via titanium backup...

1.THERE'S NO LIMITS FOR SDCARD CLASS.
HIGHER SD CLASS MEANS HIGHER WRITE/READ SPEED. NO OTHER DIFFERENCE!
2. A 32GB MEMORY CARD ON OUR PHONE IS POSSIBLE ****BUT****
U CAN'T RUN MEMORY CARD IF U PUT MORE THAN 16 GIGABYTES DATA(MUSIC,APP,...) PHONE SAYS DAMAGED SDCARD, FORMAT !
BUY 32 GB AT UR OWN RISK!
*KINGSTON IS NOT PERFECT ,IT'S JUST GOOD, ALL SDCARDS MANUFACTURED IN CHINA HAVE THE SAME PERFORMANCE.(in my opinion Kingston is the best in Chinese market)
3.move via pc with data cable (or a card reader ,not recommended. )
Format new card with phone.
#my sd: PNY ©10 -16GB
read speed :max 36mbs
Write speed: max 8mbs
Owned about 3 months+using 200mb swap partition -no problems at all
Sorry for my terrible English!

Thanks for the tip. I ran the batch for "Backup all user apps". Suppose "Restore all apps with data" is the last step?
EDIT: Also, there's really a lot of junk on the card, now that I think of it. Is it just possible to move the Titanium backup onto the newer card, along with some other things (pictures, ROM backups, etc.), perform the restore, and forget about the rest? Will there be any side-effects?
No there wont be any side effect.

64GB SD for Razr i

Hi I know that officially the phone supports up to 32GB SDs but I was wondering if anyone has bought a 64SD to test in the phone? Many phones that don't officially support 64GB SDs still use them just fine...
I was just reading this review and they seemed pretty against 64GB in the phone: http://www.t3.com/reviews/motorola-razr-i-review
64GB SD cards
I ve been using a 64GB SD card in my RAZRi since ive got it......and it works fine. It will only show part of your storage (upto 32GB im guessing)
when you hook it up to the computer....however, everything can be accessed if you use something like Astro File browser or EStrong (both free on the Google Market) on your phone. I just use a micro SD adapter when i want to access the whole card on my pc...job done!!!
AW: 64GB SD for Razr i
I use a SanDisk 64GB card with no issues whatsoever. Both my computer and the phone show me the correct storage space.

Cheers, thanks guys. I don't really want to spend 50 Euro if doesn't work! I need to upgrade very soon, I put my music on the SD and sync from my laptop. I'll get it then :victory:
I have a Sandisk uhs1 64gb which also works fine!
It didn't work in a normal razr (xt910) that kept corrupting the files.
The razr I however is fine.
You may find if you plug it into windows that it wants to format it to exfat. Don't do this as the phone won't read it.
You need to format it to fat32 BUT windows by default won't let you make a 64gb fat32 partition, it keeps wanting to do exfat.
I used a separate free partitioning app to correctly make the 64gb fat32 partition and its fine!
Format it in the phone...

When I inserted my 64GB microSD (Sandisk) that was in my S3 4G into my XZ it didn't see it as being formatted. The XZ prompted me to format it, so I did.
Total space is 59.45GB
Available space is 54.75GB

They are quite cheap, you can get them for like 50$ or something, though I wouldn't advice on buying from ebay.
64GB SD cards will work on any Android phone as long as it is in the FAT32 format.
there is a way to convert them to exFat

Am using SanDisk 64 ums 1 class 10
XperiaZ and SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC 64GB
I have a SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC 64GB installed to my new smartphone Sony XperiaZ. The problem is while I want to see the files (videos and photos) of my Xperia Z via my PC (USB connection) some files are not appear. On the contrary, the files are visible when the micro SD in on the phone and also visible to the PC when I insert the card to my PC with an adapter. Do you have any idea why I have partial access to the files of the micro SD when is on the phone?

I also bought a sandisk micro SDXC 64 GB. a notification of memory card "SD card unexpectedly removed" several time. and the device just freeze when accessing files on sd. card. I'm using now 8 GB till I find how to solve the problem. I already format the sd card to fat 32. and doing it several times. if you find any thing regarding this subject please let me know.
Why dont u try and change it to exFAT instead of FAT 32? Check the method posted in GENEREAL section.

I spoke with Sandisk explaining the issue and they told me to send it back and they will send me a new mini sd because this issue should not happen...I will let you know what will happen with the new but is highly unlikely that I will solve my problem...

It is already formatted to exFAT...
Hi Guys,
Do you guys able to write to exFat formatted 64GB MicroSD card from Windows7/8? I mounted the card from XZ as a storage and I can see the content of the card but not able to perform any write operations.
Any advise?
Thanks.
I have a rather funny problem tho is that when I copy videos on the card, it wont play on my XZ the first time I insert the card, so I put it back in the card reader in the laptop, played every videos from start, and skip to the last minute, still plays, so no problem with sdcard, that 8gb videos, put back in to phone, and the videos now all plays perfect, wonder why that is.... this is with the 64gb sdxc
also when it doesnt play the video the phone loses the card then mount it back on again, gonna try exFat and see how that goes
result: no problem so far... copied all the backed up from old sdcard on t it, have album on screen while copying and everything pops up very quickly, all videos play perfect, all images perfect, 8gb on it so far, would take a while to fill the card
i bought a samsung 64gb with 70mbps read speed. The newest apparently... not sure if i feel for some marketing trick but whenever i read from sdcard i have never had any lag...
i recommend if you can afford the $70 - $90 price tag
