When you downloaded the ROM, the download got screwed up, and therefore the zip wasn't signed correctly. Also if you unzip and rezip, it breaks signing. If it isn't signed correctly it wont flash. Its kind of like a safety so bad files do not get flashed and brick the phone. If you need help in fixing it i can help with that too, just ask.

[Q] Flashing 2.24 firmware over 3.17, didn't work

So I tried flashing 2.24 firmware over 3.17 that I current have, but my build number stayed 3.17. The main reason I wanted to go back is because I noticed a reduction in battery life. Is there anyway to downgrade firmwares? Thanks!

I was before I flashed 3.17. I'm pretty sure it didn't remove my S-off.
So what's the error?
And, are you using the firmware package form this thread?
And are you using the Sneaky guide?

There isn't any error. Thats the thing. It flashed successfully, but when i go back into Android, under build number it's still 3.17.

Bootloader or a getvar all from fastboot will tell you your firmware version, booting into Android and looking at your build number tells you your Rom base,

I have tried as well the Odin version, and nothing.
I have root already, but I want to install the CWM or TWRP recovery to change the ROM.

I used 3.5 patch which I think is the last one. And safestrap 3.65
There is a new safestrap version (you can find the thread in the development section), try to install the script after upgrading safestrap (you can find the instructions there). If that's not working, let Mentor know in the patch's thread.

One more thing: have you edited the build.prop manually before installing the script? Because the script won't work in that case AFAIK.
Also have you tried on other ROM?

the patch will edit the build.prop. You followed? From the Install menu select the .zip file and install without signature verification on your Rom

Found it couple minutes ago. but still is aborded. so I guess I have to try to update safestrap? But the 3.7 is not stable yet right?
3.72 is the latest one and it contains mainly recovery related updates. I think it should work fine.
I only encountered your problem once. I wanted to install eclipse rom from Safestrap 3.65, but the rom's install script was not compatible. I had to revert to Safestrap 3.11.

[Kernel] 4.4.2 d959 warning (super beta or not even a beta at all)

first of all this zimage hasn't been test!!!
i made this kernel with little knowledge following couple of tutorials and thanks to OhHeyItsLou !!
remember if you gonna try this kernel remember it has not been tested and til i figure it out it probably wont be tested for knob ppl.
If you are going to try it and or you are a DEV "which i think you might know how to work this out" "flashing" please be free to do.
once again i wont leave instructions on how to flash it because i havent figure out yet how to do it!!
THATS WHY I RATHER SEE A DEV USING THIS OR HELP ME WITH FLASHING THIS ON MY OWN DEVICE
Be free to contact me on any questions
flash it at you own risk ! Which we all know while flashing anything can go wrong!
unzip file and you would get the zImage.
V1 ! toolchain 4.6 from google
nothing special just a kk kernel hoping to help with cm11 ~!
Just tried flashing with TWRP on a rooted, stock 4.4.2 D959...flashing the zip failed, if that's any help :/
To make it usable we need to join with randisk and make a boot.iso

It won't flash in custom recovery because it's missing the "meta-inf" folder with the update-binary, etc. I'll try and write one tonight when I get home from work. Which will be around midnight central time.
I've got a meta-inf folder made and I've 're zipped it. Is this based on aosp or stock. Do I need to flash with my stock Rom or try with cm11
This die? Far as i can tell we need a kernel dev?
I downloaded zlmage_bumped.zip listed in first post and flashed it using flashify apk downloaded from Google play. Seems to have successfully flashed! My device is T-Mobile D959 running kit Kat 4.4.2 D95920h.
Did it really work?
Sorry i was out of the country and i worked on my desktop so obviously i couldnt take it with me .. Ill try and update the kernel as soonest i get sometime... I see we havent had luck with cm11 yet huh

I flashed it on d95920h, d95920m, and on CM11 and it failed / errored out each time. Never got it to take myself.... When I rebooted it came up with the security error on the lg screen... Had to boot recovery and restore my backup..... I should have pulled a logcat for ya but I was in a hurry and didn't have time.
