[Q] messaging apk - Motorola Droid Bionic

How would I add stock messaging apk to a rom and delete the aosp one? My problem is I love the clean eclpise rom but it does not have the option of thread messaging. so i can send a text to my 5 buddys and it wont send out 5 seperate texts and i get 5 seperate replies.

I am certain there is a flashable zip or stock messaging apk you could use, but try just looking in the google play store. sometimes people repackage stock apps and put them on the google play store (for example I use the app "ICS Gallery").
Other than that, you could try SMS replacement apps such as GO SMS Pro, Handcent, or chompSMS. They offer the choices in how to implement group messaging. attached screenshot is from GO SMS Pro.

Can you not freeze the messaging application and just install the apk you want?

[Q] Messaging has stopped unexpectedly...please try again.

So i have the new cognition 3.04 on my samsung captivate, along with the theme generation X v1.14. Everything works fine, runs well, except mms. Every time i want to text it prompts me "Sorry! The application messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.) and force closes it. I dont understand why thats happening. Can someone tell me why, and how to fix it? Please and thanks, help is much appreciated...
Did this start happening as soon as you flashed the rom, our after the theme
the theme i believe...
Go into settings under messaging if you can make sure your message center reads the same if you are on at&t

If you still heave the cognition rom zip on your sd. Go into the zip using astro file manager. Go info system, find the mms apk, copy the apk to your sd. Use root explorer or android mate to copy and paste in your system/app folder on your phone and over write existing file. Then reboot.

[MOD][APP]Mms.apk - Emoji support; unlimited number of SMS recipients; MMS conversion

Hello Xoomers.
This is a modded stock Mms.apk with:
No AutoConverting messages to MMS after 4 SMS. Conversion will happen after 200 SMS
SMS recipients is 200 instead of 20.
Emoji Support; can be enabled in settings.
Option in settings to display Sent Time instead of Received time. Sent time is in the sense that if you turn off your phone, messages you get whilst it's off will have the right time.
Where can this mod be applied?
Well, if you have 3G/Euro XOOM, with installed MOD for SMS-USSD, then this is when you need to make use of this modded app. It works on ANY JB MZ601/MZ600 rooted ROM as long as you have installed the SMS-USSD MOD to be able to send/receive SMS and make USSD calls.
Flashable ZIP is attached.
How to install:
1) download the mod zip.
2) place it in your SD Card [internal/external]
3) reboot into recovery.
4) choose the zip; flash it. reboot
5) enjoy....
GIFT: same mod but with themed app icon

How do I get it back?
Thanks
Could try the stock Google calendar from Play Store.
Attached are files from system/app that you may be looking for.
Stock google calendar is already installed by default including the google calendar widget. This is onboard since the JB update. Bevore with ICS there was motorola calendar widget like in the first post.
Am I the only one where this is like that? Are you still having motorola calendar widget with JB?
@ batwingnz: How do I install the apkĀ“s in the zip?
Thanks
Enable unknown sources in security settings and open with a file manager, or if rooted try copy to system/app and change permissions to 644. (sounds like it's what you already have installed though)
The calendar has changed since ics, didn't realise the old one was moto, someone else might be able to upload that one for you.

Question about SMS app on SM-T817A (AT&T)

It seems that AT&T removed the android SMS messaging app? If I text the tablet it gets the text as a notification in the AT&T AllAccess app, but I can not reply to it. Is there a way to get over this issue?
Thanks.
Just install another.
I did installed a few
but it tells me that the app has to be set as the default messaging app in order to work. I went through everything looking how to set it up as the default messaging app, but no dice.

When you get a message come through hit that message and you should be asked how you want to open it, select the app you wish to use and make it default.
It just doesn't happen
I click OK every time but the pop up stays there.
Which app is that, I'd try handcent or hangouts.
I tried Hangouts, GO SMS PRO, Messages+, SMSdroid, and ZERO SMS.
Handcent does not even install. It says that it is not compatible.
Maybe att modified the framework to prevent an app from simply being installed.
AT&T definitely did something. Messaging is locked on the AT&T AllAccess app as default and that does not allow to send texts.
I found the apk and tried handcent too. I keep clicking setup now, and the window reappears.

Question Bypass "replace the system launcher"

I'm trying to replace a launcher but this option prevents me. Any way around it?

You need to sign in to the Vivo account in order to be able to change the launcher.

Whoa, that's big! They can just do that? 0_o
I'd just create a dud account with a garbage collecting email address (we all have one, right?). Do other default apps (messaging, phone, etc.) also have this limitation posed on them?
No, just the launcher. I've replaced the default phone app with Google Dialer, the email app with BlueMail, and the messaging app with NextSMS. They work fine as do their notifications. Some third party apps (like Google Messages) won't show a notification in the system tray if the phone is in system wide dark mode (they work in light mode) but that is a different issue from requiring Vivo's permission to replace the launcher, which requires them 'confirming' your account by email or text message by registering and signing into a Vivo account.
