Flash Fail - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good Morning
First please forgive my english if i make some mistakes...
Here is my problem :
i have a RAZR I, I flashed it into a new brazilian rom, , that worked perfectly.http://sbf.droid-developers.org/smi....0R_SCPNMINIIRETBRLA_P024_A031_CFC_fb.xml.zip
... but i cant root with motofailgo.... I tried severy times... then...
I want to back to older version and i give this error in fastboot during the flashing:
i had this failure message :
update gpt_main version failed
preflash validation failed for GPT
When i try to turn it off or on... it doesn't move...
Again I can flash only new version and work perfect...
any ideas to help me fix this !!!
Thanks for taking time to read me and help.!!! :crying:

Hello, if you read this forum, and search a little, you will found that:
-The latest rom are not rootable without unlock the bootloader (i imagine that you have not do it...)
-You could not downgrade a rom.
I imagine that your rom is one of the latest rom?
So if you wan t to root a latest rom, you have to unlock the bootloader and read the post. And you could not roll back to an oldest version.

Yep is the lastest. I cant back anymore?
I did it when I installing this rom during the flash:
" Unknown fastboot command. (getvar)" I give an error than I removed this line: <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />.
and work perfect but i cant back for old rom. I need root by motofail. :crying: There any problem in future upgrades by OTA?
Thx...

Normally you could not downgrade. but you could flash any rom that are in the same version. So there is no reason that it would be a problem for a future ota update.
As i know and read on xda, there is no other possibility to root on the latest rom, to unlock the bootloader.

[SOLVED]Bootloader bricked, recovered, but fail when running firmware

Hello,
It had the original rom 4.4 on my XT1058 with root and unlocked bootloader, but was not getting running with 4.4.2 update for the original recovery. So I was going to be able to update and run fasthall.bat back to 4.2.2, but I opened the file and rebooted the machine to backup and forgot that it was open. Result: ****ed me.
I believe I have lost my bootloader, but following the tutorial of Gundabolu SC, unable to enter fastboot again, however, I can not run the sbf or RSD by flashall.bat.
I noticed that my phone with this LOCKED status, though I unlocked it.
To start the fastboot I run the code the tutorial I mentioned above, then it displays the following screen
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]Failed to hab check for gpt_main: 0x4e
CID Read Failure
Invalid CID Status 0x69
CustomerID error. Contact Dealer: 0xdead
No SP Partition found[/COLOR]
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]Fastboot Reason: Invalid CID[/COLOR]
For both methods to recovery, it becomes part of gpt.bin and when arrives at motoboot, of the following error message:
Code:

downloading 32768 bytes
done
getvar max-download-size
downloading 1643008 bytes[/COLOR]

Can anyone help me?

I tried to recover via RSD several times, both with 4.4, as 4.2.2, but both have the same error.
In the RSD panel the following error message:
Code:
Failed flash process. 2/13 flash mootboot "motoboot.img" -> Phone returned FAIL.
quite a different error.NEVER heard of it>Wait let me ask my friends about it..

the issue is the bootloader you are trying to install dose not match the one installed so it will fail everytime we have to find the right one to get everything installed correct
so we need to grab the 100% correct firmware package for your phone.
the model you gave me is for the AT&T version
here is the 4.4 AT&T firmware try installing this one

Sorry for double post there.
I remember that my device is the XT1058, but Brazil.
I downloaded the sbf, removed the max-download-size and run the RSD, but he brought me the same errors.
Sounds like you need to wait for the full 4.4.2 Brazil image to be posted for download to recover the phone.

Excuse me, but why do you think?
I did not get to install 4.4.2, I started to run the script flashall.bat 4.2.2 and thinking it would give time, it ended up damaging the bootloader.
Tried the firm indicated that dray_jr and 2 BR's, but it did not work.
I am very worried.
Did you try this, sounds like your trying to flash 4.2.2 firmware over 4.4.2 which won't work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2628940
Sent on my Gummy running Lenoto X
Do you get the "downgraded security version" error when trying to flash 4.2.2 and 4.4 ?

I was going to try and probably would work (I've done this several times and has no secret), but it was not to start. I opened flashall.bat script but forgot to close it, because it was going back up yet, but the script detected the fastboot and started the process.
With seconds I removed the cable, barely gave it to start the first stage (before I left without turning back) and corrupted my bootloader.
I had the Original ROM 4.4 installed with root and unlocked bootloader, but even trying the 4.4 firmware I get the errors I described above.
Would have something to do with the tutorial I follow to start the fastboot?
I am Brazilian and even translating and reading what little I understand, I can not identify a problem as well. I'm scouring all here and trying something, but like I said, I am a layman and do not understand how the bootloader and related work.

With 2 firmwares I get the same error.
everytime i post here i reread the first thread and i am still not sure what you did.
so im going to ask some questions and see if we can't get some more info on this issue
1. Your device was 4.4 unlocked bootloader and rooted
2. did you try and install the 4.4.2 firmware
3. your device is the AT&T model but from Brazil
because if you are getting the gpt error on both 4.2.2 and 4.4 and it would lead me to think that the 4.4.2 bootloader is installed on your device.

Yes, I can start the fastboot via script "qflash.exe with (PORT NUMBER)-ramload MPRG8960.hex-mbn 33 MSM8960_bootloader_singleimage.bin-v-o" with a blank bootloader.

ok if i remember well first flash recovery from 4.4 firmware
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after then u ll be able to flash entire image of 4.4.2
could it be that even thou the 4.4.2 update failed that it still installed the new bootloader and that is why nothing else will install.
but either way he could flash the 4.4 firmware without the gpt file and then take the OTA and everything should be fine.

Before having this problem I tried all that.
I installed the original recovery and tried to upgrade to 4.4.2 but it gave error in the middle of the update and restarted the phone saying that the software update was not completed.

I will remove the line from gpt and try again.
Earlier I was testing at work and now I'm home. The 4.4 firmware download this lingering: (
you really can't cause anymore problems so this is what i would try because from what i have read if you try to install 4.2.2 or 4.4 you the a gpt.bin verification error. which means that neither 4.2.2 or 4.4 are the right bootloader.
That leaves us with some how the 4.4.2 bootloader got installed because it is the only bootloader that can't go to 4.4 so with that being said.
I would download the correct 4.4 firmware for your phone.
extract it
and use the below adb commands to install it but leave out the gpt.bin flash command
Code:
*leave this one out*fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
i think everything should install fine and your phone should boot up and from what i have read you should still be able to take the 4.4.2 OTA without bricking your phone

XT1064 on Lollipop. How do I relock bootloader?

My bootloader is currently unlocked and I want to relock it. I have an XT1064. I've tried downgrading to 21.11.17 and following the instructions for KitKat but it never works. What can I do?
Unfortunately I have yet been successful doing this. I think it's because some parts of the firmware can't be downgraded. I keep getting pre flash failure
i did just for kicks... and was successful on XT1069.
from what I understand when this problem happens, is related to the ROM you used to do the process that is described in this thread follow these step with a ROM that is perfect and will succeed.
I did with the good xml ROM for my device and it was perfect.
try other ROM xml file... all i now here
One thing, to receive an OTA is not need to be with bootloader locked...
But you must have a untouched original ROM and Recovery installed on the device...
So no root original ROM and recovery just that.
I say this because many worry that is need to have a locked bootloader to receive OTA, and is not.
Have you tried locking after being on 5.0 firmware
I don't remember (i think was 4.4.4 to 4.4.4)... but i will try (5.0.2 to 4.4.4 and lock it) and report. OK, maybe today if not tomorrow...
In theory is the same friend of my did form 5.0.0 to 4.4.4 no problem...

Pretty sure you can only relock 4.4.4 bootloaders (motoboot.img) with the oem lock
If you have updated to a lollipop 5.0.x bootloader you cant downgrade from a 5.0 boot loader and hence cant relock it (yet?)

You can downgrade if use a ROM or a backup to update. the bootloader will remaining the same.
I dont know if you update via OTA to L if the OTA is updating the boot loader...
But yes you can downgrade from 5.0.x to 4.4.4 regards the bootloader if did not update don't see way will not re-lock, if update the OS and bootloader maybe because will not recognize the OS and ROM even if it is all original, but i think it should...
I will tested and report... downgrade and re-lock the bootloader... But my bootloader is the same version it did not update because i use a ROM or a TWRP backup do upgrade to L.
I will update the ROM i using do a clean flash, before i will try the downgrade and re-lock process. :good:

yeah i'm talking bootloader I know you can go up or down between 4.4.4 roms and 5.0 roms , i've tried mfastboot, fastboot (different versions) as people say 'only this version works' and so far not found anything that works
Ever since I upgraded to 5.0 then downgraded 4.4.4 I can not lock the boot loader. I don't think anyone will be able to until there is 5.0 firmware

[Q] Am I screwed? [SOLVED]

Hi all. I'm an idiot. I updated to the 5.0 rom, and tried to downgrade to 4.4.3. It went well, until my device tried to update to 4.4.4. Now I'm stuck with a bootloader (xt1053 30.B7) that says it's locked, says it can't be unlocked, and says
Code:
downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
Failed to hab check for gpt_backup:0x35
CID read failure
Invalid CID status 0x69
CustomerID error. Contact dealer: 0xdead
no SP partition found
Please, is there any way to bring my device back to life? I've tried flashing pretty much anything I can get my hands on, but it always fails because the bootloader is locked. I tried unlocking it with the code I got from motorola a while back, but that's not working either. Again, please help if possible.
I'm a jackass. I'm trying the RSD with the newest SBF now.
Hopefully the 4.4.4 will fix you up.

I am not very familiar with how Moto's phone's do their stuff. But, have you tried flashing the stock image for your device? One thing though, if you used the leaked soak test to upgrade your device, your screwed until the official lollipop image for your device comes up.

IF you updated to one of the 5.02 leaks (or soaks as they were called), and got this message when trying to downgrade by flashing an OLDER Moto SBF (like 4.4.4), then you will likely be stuck until a 5.02 SBF leaks.
GPT.BIN doesn't like being downgraded, or attempted to be downgraded.
However, if your bootloader still says 30.B7, I would try flashing the stock Moto Xt1053 4.4.4 SBF using mfastboot by following option 5 at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html
So the bootloader does say it's 30.b7, but it also says it's locked. And when I try to unlock it, it says fastboot oem unlock disabled. I have tried flashing back to 4.4.4, but I think the updated gpt from 5.0.2 is messing it up.
As a few of us have tried to warn people, and just like the mad rush to flash kit Kat when it came out.... You will likely need to wait for the SBF of 5.0.2 for your device. Not much else you can do at this point.
Sorry for your unfortunate situation.
I managed to get it running again by flashing the gpt of the lollipop files. I'm doing my best to go to the 1053 lollipop build to avert another brick. Thanks all for the help!
And I'm successfully on the XT1053 lollipop build. Let it be known that I'm only on lollipop to avoid incompatibilities due to the new GPT I had to flash. Sorry Motorola. Trust me, I wish I had waited.

XT1068 downgrade to 4.4.4 fail

Dear all,
I'm new to xda and to ROM tweaking and changing, but I am a developer and I know Linux very well.
I'm trying to restore the factory 4.4.4 ROM on my XT1068 because I can't live with Lollipop even if I tried for weeks.
The factory images are posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...riginal-motorola-firmware-collection-t3153533 and I followed the instructions there and other instructions as well with no success so far.
What I tried, after rooting the phone and unlocking the bootloader has been:
- flashing according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/restore-to-stock-t2873657 using fastboot commandline from my laptop
- trying to install with TWRP
Attempts with fastboot commands were a total failure and only lead me to bricking the system multiple times. Apparently the signature is not accepted so some of the fastboot flash steps miserably fail and brick the system.
Attempts with TWRP to install or wipe and install (also disabling the signature check otherwise it gets stopped by that) bring nowhere, with TWRP just telling that there was an error flashing right after checking the md5sum. By the way: there was no md5sum on the files in the original thread, so I created my own one (with the risk of having wrong md5 if the download was corrupted).
After hours spent on this the only thing I think I figured out is that lollipop bootloader is a nightmare and prevents me from installing 4.4.4. I can't figure out how you guys managed to install without complaints the 4.4.4 images. BTW: the 5.0 image I had on the smartphone was the RETGB one and it was bought over amazon, originally shipped with 4.4.4
P.S: the error I get with fastboot is: preflash verification failed
must have unlocked bootloader via motorla page and try my 4.4.4 easy installer http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/windows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1068-dual-t2983295- read the README for instructions -firmware d in list for GB from amazon UK

My friend, if you wanna upgrade your Android OS, please do it NOT(!!!), then flash a Factory Image from XDA on your phone.
It results in a hard brick if you upgrade via OTA.
