How to wear a rom on a new device - XDA-University

Hello,
I started in android development and I know java well as on c and c #. And I would wear a rom like CyanogenMod on other devices?

Different OS's

Hey guys
I just want to know....what are all the OS's that can be ported on the nexus one (every different android maker os is a different os.)
I just want to know and if you could.....please put the link if available.
Thanks

Check out the Development section, count the sub-versions of each ROM found there, and you'll get to several hundreds of them.
Or just consider it one big OS called Android, in its variations. That will also be closer to the truth.
Personally, I run Windows 7 on my Nexus one.
Oh, you were serious?
Bro, every "flavor" of Android is still Android. One Operating system, different versions or "builds" or whatever they're called.

Then what are the different builds that can be ported and actually work.
The only ones I see are sense, CyanogenMod or MIUI....that's it?
What are others...

those are the mains ones right now, and of course dont forget to include stock but rooted ROM, like modaco ROM. then there are many variations of cyanogen broken off and customized to make their own ROM.
last year there were many more ROMs, so it has died down a little. but generally its still very strong ROM community for the n1.
no other OS's work except android OS and all its flavors.

Why you are searching another SO
NexusOne is not a PC desktop (you can installa windows or linux) it's a smartphone.
Android is the best one SO that you can have.

Hi all,
What is the name for the Android 5.0, and is ot for phones or tablet?
JellybeAn? No idea, ics is still new

Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin claims that Google will be including a dockable desktop mode in the next version of Android
And it's for tablets.

It's gotta start with a J to follow the naming convention they've been doing.
i heard from somewhere its jellybean
Any guesses as to what the next one will be?
Karamel? Kit-kat?
A google insider told me the next name is 'Jaszek'
I heard its jelly bean and it will be for both phone and tablets because they just spent a lot of effort trying to fix that fragmentation with ics so i don't think they're gonna make another device specific version

Depends entirely on what your experience is. There's a big difference between learning to cook having never cooked a thing in your life, and learning to cook French cuisine if you're already a master sushi chef.
I'll play it safe and say I've never cooked a thing in my life, but my dad is also a system engineer and could help if I needed it. I'd rather learn without his help.

Start with an RUU. Run the RUU on your PC. Stop at the first screen after it's done loading, don't proceed, but don't close the window. Start/Run and type %TEMP% and hit enter (this will take you to your user temp folder). Sort the folders by date and open the newest. Here you should find Rom.zip. Use this as your base ROM in the kitchen. Root it, deodex it (or not), zipalign it, etc - and you end up with a flashable ROM from an RUU

Device(s) closest in similarity?

Hey guys I would like for someone, expecially a developer preferably of our device to give me the name of the device or devices closest in similarity to ours for developmental reasons. I think but I'm not positive that the desire HD is pretty close. I know or I think lol that we've had a couple ports from that device. Does anyone know any device closer?

I think Galaxy S is not most similar device .....
HTC desire HD was selected for porting because it has same System on Chip i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8255 .....
So, all devices which are built on MSM 8255, they are much closer to our device ....
Check this :

I wonder if the HTC Desire C's specs will support such a thing. It would definitely be cool if it runs smoothly.

I don't think that it is gonna lag if you remove some unnecessary animations and effects. It doesn't have to be exactly the same, does it?

Nah, they where in beta stage when testing now they are paid i could crack them but then my ROM would probably be removed
Edit checked JOYOS but it is cm7 wich is android 2.3... so it will take some time and again wi-fi will not work then
BUT its worth giving it a go!
