[Q] Question about this phone - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I am considering to buy this phone.
But i have one question about it.
On the intel site it says this CPU has HyperThreading technology, does android uses this technology?
Because i saw a few reviews and they killed the RAZR i about performance...
Could somebody awnser my question.
Greets,
Youri

Well, the phne have the best performabce i have see!
2 months on my own, im a app adict and no lag!!!
Im in love whit it,
Enviado desde mi XT890 usando Tapatalk 2

THe razr i is quite performant. On surfing the atom is just great.
In fact, the HT is a "logical dual core". That is to say, that the cpu is available to do twice action in the same time, if all the unit of the cpu are full.
But it's not a real dual core.
It's enouth to have a fluid experience. And the intel cpu has a great battery life.
If you compare the atom to a S4 pro with 4 cpu, in some task or bench, it would be far...
In fact, intel has improve the vm too, so all the test depend on when it is done.
The gpu of the razr i, is not the biggest. it is correct. So that depend of why you shoose the razr i. For playing, you could find better.
For surf, and battery life, it's a great phone that we could find for 300€ (with the ODR). And for this price, there is not a lot of opposition.

Oke thanks for youre awnser.
I see a topic about Apps and Games.
Are there many Apps and Games incompatibel? Apps like 'Whatsapp, facebook, twitter, meme generator, XDA app Skype etc.?

AW: [Q] Question about this phone
Its not for games. If you want to play get another phone.
Most apps run perfectly fine, I don't think that there is a really important app that doesn't
The performance on browsing and app starting is as good as iPhone and n4, all games I tried from capable Devs run fine with no lag, e.g. mw4.
You get less details on some games though.

[Q] Is xperia T good for heavy 3d gaming?

Hi im thinking of buying a nice phone for playing games is xperia t right thing. How are games like modern combat 4 , nfs most wanted, spiderman, dark knight rises running on this device . Plz give a quick response
Out of the box, it works OK until it gets hot. There have been numerous threads about thermal throttling kicking in after a while and killing performance - do a search rather than creating an 'urgent' new thread next time.
Having said that, if you are prepared to root then this thread may keep your performance up:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937329
This phone gets HOT when playing games? i thought its 28nm cpu will stay cool. Should i buy xperia T or should i buy htc one XL for gaming
by the way i researched alot and could not find a similar threat.
Most new phones have some sort of heat issue and thermal throttling. I would recommend trying the games on the handsets to see exactly what you feel about it.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
I am running now at 192 - 1458MHz, both cores always on, when the heat is going over about 65°C, CPU is throttled to 1188MHz (and less), still with both cores on. When I am gaming a little longer, CPU temperature is going up to 75°C and battery temperature does not exceed 50°C while connected to wall charger.
All games I know are running smoothly this way.
These temperatures should be fine. If anything goes wrong with these temperatures, then it's a bad device.
Thing that is low on T, is RAM. I would recommend something with 2GB. I believe there will be games with 2GB requirement soon. And T has only 640MB available RAM for applications. And system is using about 300 - 400MB. The rest of RAM is low even for browser and low for future gaming, at least now in ICS.
And internal memory chip has not very good performance. For example SenseMe Slideshow (plastic frames) never makes smooth slideshow. Opening phone or SMS app takes almost 2 seconds. Opening NFS Most Wanted takes about 15 seconds (and this procedure kills all opened apps, very nice. Etc.
I am not telling it's a bad device, I like it (except wifi, that one drives me mad. But I recommend something else for heavy gaming.

Out of curiosity, ¿what rom/kernel combo are you using?. I'm interested in undervolting and underclocking my device.
I used Siyah kernel while I was on Timin8r's stock rom, but now I'm running AOKP and I don't know any current kernel compatible with that.
Siah kernel, but works on stock kernel too (except 192MHz). Values are changed manually.
i have already ordered the Xperia T But hope that it will not dissapoint me Devices with 2GB are out of my reach and in my country i found xperia T the fastest in my current budget
You won't be disappointed. It is good device. But has some disadvantages. Just like other devices.

Its got f*** all to do with ram. 1gig is enough. We get full effects like the galaxy s3, and as mentioned in earlier comments adjusting the throttling works wonders. This game never lags for me.

Gameloft have started adding graphics setting to their games which is a good move, so I imagine MC5 will have them. Dunno about dead trigger 2 but they normally optimize their games well. I have a lot of games, they all work fine after reducing the thermal throttling. Only problems you might face is games being unavailable such as a few flu titles, but device spoofing takes care of that. My phone sometimes shuts down from online gaming because the battery can't take the stress, but as long as the throttle allows 12420000 or lower it rarely happens unless battery is low. Plus a friend is trying to make a fix for it, by putting out a voltage based on averages, rather than having a voltage that is too high then it dropping too low under pressure . Also its the same chip as USA version of GS3

Dead Trigger 1 plays smooth on my Cortex A5 800Mhz and Adreno 200. :\ Few lags here and there but nothing noticeable... I think this will handle Dead Trigger 2... Subway Surfers lags like hell though.
How about N.O.V.A 3 and MC4? I just worry about constant non-playable frame rates. I can't judge by YouTube. Do you get smooth experience with Adreno 225?

[Q] 4X HD with 4.1.2 vs Nexus 4 advice

So recently, a pretty good deal approached me where I have a chance to sell my 4X HD and buy a nexus 4 for a reasonable amonth of money. I was pretty disappointed from the performance in games, camera quality and sound so this deal came in handy, but now when the leaked jelly bean update has been showing pretty good improvements in all ways I dont want to regret selling this phone. As I didnt even hold the nexus 4, just saw a ton of reviews, I'm asking for some advice if I should stick with the phone or change it, from some experienced users.
Do you guys think that the new update will bring much better performance and overall make it on par with the nexus 4?? What advantages would I get getting the nexus 4 in this case ( battery, screen, etc)
Thanks..
Battery is somewhat improved but still not amazing, games also improved a little, shadowgun thd for example now doesnt lag at all. Im curious to see how development goes with the unlocked bootloader, but if someone gave me a nexus 4 to swap i would. The question is how much money will you lose, and is it worth it? Personally ive always wanted a nexus phone for googles support but wouldnt pay the prices

Take the nexus, at least then it's 100% unlockable from the get-go.
objectively: Nexus4 has just better specs than P880, right?
but i think that highly modded P880 (for example with future CM10.1 and 3.4 kernel by kholk) will catch up stocky Nexus4 a little
Nexus 4. Better specs, overwhelming support. The 4X will never catch up to the better specs of the N4. Software can only help up to a point, then hardware wins out.

But some say that it can last for 2 days with no problem.. Is it really possible to get 3.4 kernel unless nvidia releases sources? I doubt it since Nexus 7 running tegra 3 has only 3.1.10, I would too love to see 3.4 kernel on o4x.

You are delusional, it lags a lot on any cpu governor, even more we dont have custom kernel (read custom cpu - gpu scaling).
At this time LG 4X is not even close to LG NEXUS 4, maybe it will never be...so 4X is a LG - NVIDIA collaboration failure.

I think its devs fault, some games are perfectly smooth! Shadowgun thd that lagged on ics works great on jb. The problem is devs arent making their games use multiple cores yet they are putting them on high graphics, causing lags. Whats strange is if you look at tegra phones on nvidia site the optimus 4x isnt listed. Something about LG power management must make it hard to allow multithreading in games compared to.the one x

when comparing the nexus 4 to the p880, nobody mentioned that the p880 has 16gig and must be compared to the more expensive nexus 4, and furthermore has a micro sd card slot.
do you think its fun to have 3 games like gta vc, nfs mw and horn on the device and BAM! the memory is completely full?
not having an sd card is a complete no-go for me, and after i got rid of my iphone i really didnt want to go into such a closed world again.

The "my phone can last 2 days with no problem" shouldn't be taken as a thuth, my p880 can last 2 days without a problem but only if i use it lightly.
You should investigate how many hours will it last when gaming, watching movies or internet and then you will know if it really worth the hassle of getting a new phone.
And by the way, if the nexus has no expandable memory then you better be sure you won't need it, i'm not the kind of guy that stores 5 full movies or even 1000 songs but with only 5 or 6 games, a few apps and like 300 songs i already got 8 GB full out of the 12 GB available on my p880.
What i would do is wait until the official release of the JB for my P880, i'm pretty sure they will fix a LOT of things in that version including gaming, internet, apps and they will unlock the BL (just be realistic and don't expect your phone to become ultra mega fast and that the battery will run for 30 days straight without charge)
This Leaked release version of Jelly bean is obviosly incomplete and with several bugs and honestly i think LG leaked this version just to get rid of the people who were trying to hack their site.
Be patient and you'll be fine.
P.S. excuse my broken english, it's not my native language.

Would you buy one today?

I love the look and build quality of this phone but it's getting on a bit...
Would you buy one? Has it got 12 months of use left?
I'm also bothered by the chip and root problem .
Can it be over clocked?
Thx
PS has 3 updated to jb in the UK?

Hi
I bought mine a month ago and i would buy it a second time without any doubts.
It has a descend CPU, enough RAM, very good build quality, a good screen, good battery life, it's not to big and not to small
one custom Rom that has no bugs and just works.
The only reason not to buy it is the lack of custom Roms like CM oder MIUI.

There's no foundation for a "but" here. The RAZR has not just 2GHz but also a fast memory interface. Clock speed is not everything. The "i", with a launcher like Nova, ist fast, snappy and responsive. Overclocking is an oudated concept here. Mine makes more than 14K points with AnTuTu benchmark.
Guys, took delivery this morning and all I can say so far is WOW. No wonder you all seem to like your RAZR I's!!!
Ordered one this afternoon. I coveted this when it first came out but was intent in getting a Nexus 4. Six months later and my longing is surprisingly quite strong and the £149.99 price tag is a lot more amenable. Can't wait for delivery, hopefully tomorrow...

I wouldn't buy a Razr i again. It's a fast phone. A very fast phone. It blows the doors off everything thanks to the x86 Intel processor which is much more efficient than ARM.
My only gripe is that it isn't compatible with Adblock plus or LBE Privacy master. If I would of known those apps didn't work, I would of never bought this phone in the first place.

Razr i (XT890) vs Razr M (XT905)

Hi, I'm considering to switch my Atrix on something better.
But now I'm confused which one should I choose.
Razr I looks better in benchmarks, better battery usage and better availability but I'm afraid of compatibility with apps, mostly Gameloft games (Asphalt 7, 8 and Order and Chaos Online) and few other which making sense to use smartphone for me.
Other way Razr M have no problems with compatibility but it looks weaker in benchs comparing to Razr I and ARM processor draining more power.
LTE is not my priority so I skipped this for compare.
I read somewhere that Intel have 90% compatibility with Android apps but it was official info from Intel so I wouldn't trust them. Can You confirm this 90% compatibility??

If you want plenty of custom roms, the Razr i is not a good choice.
I love that phone, but definately lacks some dev for it.
Rooting is ok, CWM as well, but there are only 3 roms for now.
On the other hand, battery is awesome and the device is enough performant to play and use it daily with no lag.

Differences between both Razr i and Razr M
I actually have both, and must decide which one I should keep and which I should sell.
Razr i has better battery life, camera button. But I have an issue with bluetooth audio, no matter which bluetooth headset I use and which audio app I use: with Razr i, there is no sound at all, the players continue playing music. There is not this problem with Razr M.
I´m on stock rom 4.1.2 on both.
If that would be solved, I would keep the Razr i, but if not, I would have to keep Razr M (which is great too) because I use bluetooth headsets every day.
Thank You all for replys. I think I choose XT890.
Thread can be closed. Last week I ordered used XT890. Really nice phone, at this moment I notices only 2 incompatible apps from my 140 regular installed apps but this 2 are not so important. Except this everything works like a charm.

Any other emulator gamers here? Loving it!

So I just got mine yesterday here in NZ (queue waiting game for firmware update), very pleased with how this thing is running more demanding emulation. Been a while since I tried Dolphin for Android, so no doubt software improvements on the emulator side are helping, but nevertheless performance really surprised me. Fire Emblem for GC @2xIR and even Fire Emblem for Wii are running flawlessly. Mario Kart Double Dash and Metroid Prime also @2xIR running extremely well - full speed or close to it pretty much the whole time. Having a blast with a SNES30Pro controller here.
PSP emulation seems decent too, best I've seen God Of War run on Android, even if still a ways to go.
Played for about an hour yesterday and another hour today, over both sessions ~10% battery use per hour, which seems very reasonable.

I think he means the hacky version someone posted on the Dolphin Android forums. May be performance enhancements in some games.
Hey man,
Could you test Espgaluda 2 in Retroarch with Mame 2014 core? I wonder if it's finally a constant full speed 60 fps at all times. Run the demonstration for a couple of minutes with the frame rate display on, and see if it stutters at any time. S9 plus has trouble running it

Maybe you can find some emulator games here https://killerroms.com/. I have not tested them with Android so if you try, let me know if it is okay.

I wanted to feel nostalgia and play Super Bomberman 4 on PC.
I remember playing it all my childhood on Super Nintendo.
I tried to find a game on this site and could not.
Friends advised https://romshub.com/roms/super-nintendo A great opportunity to play Retro games.
