[TUTORIAL] How to change 3G frequency band from 900/2100 to 850/1900 - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hello, this is my first post, sorry for bad English
after searching all over the web, trying to find the solution to change frequency band Samsung Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830L) from 900/2100MHz to 850/1900MHz
accidentally discovered it myself, I also discovered that is not limited by hardware, since the phone supports 4 bands (not all at once)
HOW TO CHANGE THE FREQUENCY BAND
1) You must flash phone with original ROM eg. 2.3.6
2) Insert the SIM card, which is supposed to have 3G or H
3) When you have the phone with the original ROM, type *#197328640# then menu appears service mode. MAIN MENU
4) Select [6] COMMON, then select option [3] RF SCANNING.
5) For optimum scanning, should be on the outside (must come to the surface) to obtain the best possible signal,
6) When you are outside your home, select [2] RF START SCANNING, then wait about 15 seconds ... then go back and select option [4] RESULT TO SCREEN.
7) Then go back, pressing the menu key and then select back, several times, to get to MAIN MENU, then press the phone menu and select END.
8) You must dial *#2263# enter into preferred band selection, choose the option [2] WCDMA Band Preference, then select, [1] WCDMA 850 [*], should be marked as follows: [*],
(if choosing an option fails 850 [*] and thus leave, restart the phone, try again, or select AUTOMATIC)

descubri que no esta limitado por hardware, ya que el teléfono soporta las 4 bandas (no todas a la vez) solo hay que escanear las bandas con el teléfono, para que las cambie.
COMO CAMBIAR LAS FRECUENCIAS DE LAS BANDAS
1) Debe flashear el telefono con una ROM original ej. 2.3.6
2) Inserte la tarjeta SIM, con la que supuestamente deberia tener 3G o H
3) Cuando ya tenga el telefono con la ROM original, teclee *#197328640# , entonces aparecera el menu de service mode. MAIN MENU
4) Seleccione la opcion [6] COMMON, luego seleccione la opcion [3] RF SCANNING.
5) Para realizar un optimo escaneo, deberá estar en el exterior para obtener la mejor señal posible,
6) Cuando este afuera de su casa, seleccione la opcion [2] START RF SCANNING, luego espere unos 15 segundos... luego regrese, y seleccione la opción [4] RESULT TO SCREEN y seleccione con el menú select y poniendo el numero que corresponda a nuestra frecuencia.
7) Luego regrese presionando la tecla menu y luego elija back, varias veces, hasta llegar a MAIN MENU, luego presione la tecla menu del teléfono y elija END.
8) De nuevo debe marcar *#2263# para entrara en selección de banda preferida, elija la opcion [2] WCDMA Band Preference, luego seleccione, [1] WCDMA 850[*], debería quedar marcado asi: [*], o seleccione 900, según a que país corresponda.
(si no logra elegir la opción 850 [*] y dejarlo de esta manera, reinicie el teléfono, intente de nuevo o elija AUTOMATIC) si logra dejar elegida la opción, debe reiniciar el teléfono, por las dudas

if you do not get 3G signal, you could try this technique, but it is very rare to have to change the frequencies they use only the technical
basically in all phones is in the section RFSCANNING, (Radio Frequencies - SCANNING) in the hidden menu
It doesnt worked for me.. i put the number..shows service mode but it doesnt let me choose any option

Buenas tardes amigo excelente aporte, estoy segura de que ha ayudado a muchas personas. pero tengo un problema no se si podras ayudarme. tengo el samsung galaxy ace gt5830i. y sigo los pasos de tu post en el Main menu entro en Common pero no me aparece RF SCANNING, referente a bandas en common me aparece es Band Selection. entro y escojo WCDMA 1900 que es la frecuencia de movistar y el telefono pierde la señal total y despues de un momento automaticamente vuelve a edge. por favor ayuda, estoy pagando plan de datos y casi no lo uso porque es super lento. muchas gracias de antemano

hola, primero debería averiguar en que frecuencia trabaja la red de su operadora, y luego escoger la frecuencia correcta, saludos

I purchased a Chinese phone version of galaxy S4 , but the 3G is WCDMA 850/2100 Mhz . I want to change it to WCDMA 850/1900 . Will your method work for this phone ?

Twice i've been able to put the phone in service mode, but in both cases i couldn't select the band, in fact the option of *#2263# did not enter to select anything.
So i rooted my phone again with S7582XXUAMK3.
Any ideas??

I guess if you can not get in the menu *#2263# should be running by jelly bean and does not work
So should be Gingerbread, Kit KAt or Ice Cream Sandwich? (If one of these works, I'll find a compatible version for my phone and try again.)
Please comment on the version that works.

I think I tested gingerbread and it worked, I guess in ice cream sandwich you can try, but not sure. you can try also in jelly bean 4.1.2

Samsung gt-7582 baseband change
My device is a GT-S7582, which has a Broadcom BCM21664, which in turn uses a BCM2093 2G / 3G RF transceiver.
I would like to modify the band 3G phone 900Mhz to 850Mhz, (since the 7582L has it), I tried with ODIN but I could not change the modem.
Any help or suggestions would be very helpful, and better if a solution.

genial , alfinal alguien de chile. ahora con el radio nuevo te funciona el 3g de entel... yo sabia que no porque entel usa la 1800 y el diamond solo tiene 850 y 900. bueno espero tu respuesta.. mandame un PM y conversamos mas tranquilamente

hola sergio, antes que nada disculpame la ignorancia. mi diamond tiene rom 1.34.831.1 (lo que creo corresponde a la version hong kong en worldwide english) y spl 1.34.00.00. quisiera actualizar con la rom oficial 1.93.831.1 (tambien creo que corresponde a hk y en wwe), tengo que instalar el hardspl o con el que trae de origen mi diamond es suficiente. otra pregunta: porque tu no recomiendas una rom oficial? te agradezco desde ya. saludos

Click to collapse Si quieres velocidad y un Diamond que responde perfectamente te aconsejo un ROM cocinado. Ademas de velocidad tienes mas espacio para programas y los ROMS cocinados ya vienen con los tweaks de velocidad y otros que son nescesarios. Yo te recomiendo tambien actualizar tu RADIO a 05. ya que consume menos bateria y tiene mejor cobertura. Y las llamdas son mas nitidas. Recomendaciones: Usa HARDSPL. Usa PAnoshas como ROM, es el mejor segun mi opinion. Vas a notar un drastico cambio despues de instalar un ROM cocindado. Suerte!

Hola. Yo seguí los consejos de Sergio (gracias Sergio), y tengo mi Diamond con Panosha y la radio a 0.5. Tengo ahora que comprar el plan de Internet móvil a Entel y veré como anda. Hasta ahora puedo decir que anda más rápido, y la calidad de la llamada es buena.

Yo estoy usando el Serendipity 7 con Telcel sin ningun problema con el modem que viene cargado en el ROM Una pregunta antes de que cambiaras el rom o el modem (o sea con el rom original de Samsung), tenias senal? Si no entonces puede ser un problema con el telefono, si si, entonces tienes algun problema con el rom o modem y lo que podrias hacer es regresar al rom original y empezar a checar a partir de ahi
De hecho yo compré 3 Captivates en USA desbloqueados y uno de los tres me falló porque digamos que está en la lista negra de Telcel y por lo tanto, no permite tomar señal móvil (sea 3G ó 2G). Los otros dos funcionaron perfectamente y el que falló he tenido chance de probarlo en Perú y funciona. Fui a la oficina de Telcel pero obviamente no quisieron investigar más cuando se dieron cuenta que era un teléfono de AT&T. Sería interesante encontrar la forma de tener un contacto en Telcel para poder limpiar de la lista teléfonos cuando se pueda demostrar su procedencia. Es el primero que me sucede como en 9 teléfonos que he traído de USA de distintas marcas. Ahora el asunto es que se me ocurrió ponerles el ROM de Gingerbread 2.3.3 de AT&T y resulta que ellos bloquean la función de hotspot, por lo tanto, no puedo usarla. Seguramente necesitaré Rootear el teléfono y buscar editar algún parámetro para desbloquear el chequeo del dataplan de AT&T o de plano buscar otro ROM gingerbread.

[Q] ICS upgrade on a SIM unlocked Vivid
Hi All, I just bought a SIM unlocked Vivid, still on his way to me tough, and I pretend to upgrade to ICS as soon as I receive it. So I went ahead on my investigation, and after spending several hours trying to understand how the ICS upgrade works, and how to do it without bricking or boot-looping it. I read thoroughly the SUPERGUIDE thread, saw some videos, and read HTC Vivid's support page (sorry I'm not allowed to post any link yet), but still I'm quite confused or unsure on the best process to follow. Sincerely after reading and reading, and searching many threads I got more confused. Although I've got a technology background, I'm completely new to this flashing-ROM-upgrading world. My question is simple, I pretend to use the HTC Vivid page's instructions to perform the upgrade manually using the RUU ICS (444 MB) provided there (since I don't have any access to the AT&T network), and use "HTC SYNC 3.0.5617 FOR HTC VIVID™ (AT&T)" installed on my PC to flash the phone. Assuming that the phone comes with the stock Gingerbread ROM and with the bootloader locked, since it's only SIM unlocked. If I understood correctly SIM unlocking has no relation with bootloader unlocking. Can someone validate if I'm right? Or if not point me to the right direction?
Once you unlock your bootloader and achieve S-Off you should be able to upgrade regardless of what carrier your are or aren't using. What carrier are you using ?

Click to collapse I'm currently outside the States, in Costa Rica, the carriers we have down here are a state owned, Movistar (Spaniard company) and Claro (Mexican company). None have the ICS upgrade available, not even HTC phones. Does your answer mean that if the phone is SIM unlocked them the bootloader is unlocked too? Thanks. Franz
No, you will also need to unlock you bootloader using the HTCdev site and then achieve S-Off before you upgrade to ICS. Check out the superuser guide for help with these two steps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836 If this helped you please hit the Thanks button.
Just update your phone with RUU and then unlock the bootloader with the All in one Tool or the instructions in HTC Dev. Before that you may decide install a custom rom with the recommended kernel, perm root, s-off etc. Remember you have to use RUU with a locked or relocked bootloader.
This are the steps I followed for upgrading to ICS Thanks to Archector and Esloan, both advices were very useful. Just for the record, this is what I did for my succesful ICS upgrade: I read, read, and read to clearly understand what Bootloader, S-Off / S-On, Recovery, Stock ROM, etc. is all about. This forum will be a great place to do this. The following steps shouldn't taken as final word, you should be able to understand if you can continue when some steps differ a bit. 2 Once clear on all these concepts, and clear on what I wanted to do, I downloaded the ICS stock ROM named as 'htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe' and downloaded the HTC Sync Software into my computer (both from HTC's support page). Installed the HTC Sync Software. This software installs all proper drives needed to communicte the PC with the phone. BTW I'm using Win 7. On the phone disabled the 'Fastboot' option. Went to Settings > Power > Un-tick the 'Fastboot' checkbox. Enabled USB Debugging at Settings > Applications > USB Debugging. Then switched off the phone and waited 5 seconds (aprox.) after screen went off. Be sure you have enough battery charge and the phone is NOT connected to the PC. Now turned on the phone into the 'Bootloader' mode (hold the Volume_DOWN button and while holding it press the Power button until the Bootloader screen shows). If you don't know what I'm talking about then you'll need to read much more and widen your understanding on these concepts. Checked that the first line of the Bootloader screen reads 'Locked'. If not I advice to stop here and better follow the very comprehensive guides for upgrading that can be found in this forum. To go out of Bootloader mode navigate to 'Fastboot' menu item (with the volume keys), select it (Power button), and select 'Reboot'. If Bootloader is locked connect the phone to the PC using the USB cable provided with the phone. The PC will recognize the device since the HTC Sync is already installed and running in the background. Win 7 shows a globe indicating that the device is recognized. On the PC I browsed to where the RUU executable was downloaded and ran this installation utility. Then followed the onscreen instructions. After several minutes in the process, status bars on the PC and the phone completing. Then disconnected the phone from the PC and rebooted the phone. After reboot the phone was on ICS! Refer to the 'Upgrade the AT&T HTC Vivid to Ice Cream Sandwich via leaked RUU' article on the Android Authority site since this is where I took them. And remember that my phone was a stock Vivid, never changed the Bootloader, never installed any type of ROM, the current ROM was a stock GB, model HTC PH39100 and the phone is SIM unlocked. I'm posting this with the hope to help someone else in the same situation and has concerns about upgrading to ICS and bricking the phone in the process.

Lo primero es leer, leer, leer y seguir leyendo hasta entender claramente la diferencia entre 'bootloader', s-off/s-on, recovery, stock ROM, etc. Hay que advertir que hacer una actualización de ROM es un proceso delicado y te puedes 'cag...', es decir, pasear en el celular. Y efectivamente... luego de este proceso de actualización se borra todo absolutamente del cel, queda como nuevito nuevito, por eso se debe respaldar todo lo que no esté en la nube, es decir, datos de aplicaciones, mensajes, calendarios, contactos, etc. De hecho en 'Google Play' hay muchas aplicaciones para esto. Una vez actualizado se debe configurar de nuevo, incluyendo cuentas de correo, gmail, etc. Una vez claros con estos conceptos, y claro con lo que quieres hacer, es decir, actualizar el ROM solamente, o rootear el teléfono, o ambas cosas, o actualizar a un ROM de fábrica (stock ROM) o a un ROM especializado (custom ROM), yo establecí los pasos a seguir con claridad. Incluso para no cometer errores en el proceso hice una lista sencilla con los pasos que iba a realizar. En mi caso yo solo quería actualizar el ROM de mi Vivid para todo tipo de tarjetas SIM (SIM Unlocked) a ICS, ambos ROMs de fábrica. Es decir, del ROM que traía el cel (era un 'stock GB') a un 'stock ICS'. Yo estaba seguro que el ROM que tenía era de fábrica porque hice la actualización a ICS cuando apenas tenía 24 horas de haber recibido el cel, recién comprado en EE.UU. en su estado original. Incluso venía en su caja y bolsa sellada. Este proceso solo funciona si el cel tiene el 'Bootloader' cerrado o bloqueado (que es distinto a SIM unlocked), y cuando el ROM de GB es el de fábrica. Si no es tu caso debes usar otro proceso para no 'briquear' el cel. Por tanto bajé el 'stock ICS' a mi compu localmente desde una página de soporte ubicada en el sitio oficial de HTC, Si entras a su homepage y seleccionas 'Support' desde el menú superior y seleccionas tu celular (Vivid) la encuentras fácilmente. El archivo con el ROM que utilicé se llama 'htc_vivid_att_ruu_3.26.502.56_us.exe', no se si ahora hay una versión actualizada y el nombre habrá cambiado un poco. Luego bajé desde esa misma página el software para sincronizar el teléfono que se llama 'HTC Sync (3.2.20)'. Probablemente ya estará instalado en tu computador si sincronizas o conectar el cel a tu compu. Pero si no lo tienes debes bajarlo e instalarlo pues se requiere que se instalen los 'drivers' de comunicación de compu a cel. Por cierto mi plataforma es Windows 7 de 64 bits. Una vez cumplidos los requisitos y teniendo buena carga en la batería de al menos 75% (idealmente debería estar al 100%), vas en el celular a 'Configuración'>'Energía'>deshabilitar 'Inicio Rápido' (quitar el check mark de la opción). Luego nuevamente en 'Configuración'>'Opción de desarrollo'> Habilitar 'Depuración USB'. Hecho esto debes apagar el celular y esperar al menos 5 segundos para asegurarse que todos los procesos fueron cerrados y el celular está bien apagado (suena raro pero así es). ¡Ahora empieza lo emocionante! Pero no hay que ponerse nervioso, el proceso es sencillo. Hay que encender/prender/iniciar el celular en modo de 'bootloader' (no se como se traduce ese término). Esto se logra apretando la tecla de bajar volumen y de encendido al mismo tiempo. Mantener ambas teclas apretadas hasta que se despliegue la pantalla del 'Bootloader'. Tarda varios segundos en eso. Verificar que diga 'Locked' o 'Relocked' en la línea de texto de arriba. Algo así como '**** Locked ****'. Si dice 'Unlocked' no sigas con esta guía, usa el procedimiento explicado en la '[Superguide]'. En caso de tener un 'Bootloader' bloqueado o re-bloqueado y un GB de fábrica conectar, aun con la pantalla del 'Bootloader' abierta, el celular a la computadora mediante el cable USB. La compu debe reconocer el dispositivo recién conectado indicando que es un HTC Vivid. En Win / es sencillo por el mensaje que se despliega en un globito desde la barra de tareas. Entonces te vas a la carpeta donde bajaste el nuevo ROM del cel, o sea el archivo 'htc_vivid_att_ruu_3.26.502.56_us.exe', y lo ejecutas. Seguir las instrucciones en pantalla, atento a ambas pantallas, tanto de la compu como del cel. Se deben aceptar la ejecución y condiciones en varios puntos, y confirmar que se quiere hacer la actualización. Luego de varios minutos de proceso y varias barras de progreso que llegan al 100% (paciencia, paciencia, paciencia), y cuando el proceso finaliza, desconectar el celular del cable y reiniciarlo. Cuando inicie ya el ICS va estar instalado. ¡Felicidades! Estos pasos de guía se basan en la guía en inglés del sitio web 'Android Authority' titulada 'Upgrade the at&t htc vivid to ice cream sandwich via leaked ruu'. No está de más echarle una ojeadita. Recordar que el cel en donde practiqué este proceso es un PH39100, AT&T HTC Vivid que estaba abierto a cualquier SIM (unlocked phone), traía GB de fábrica, nunca se le instaló ROM alguno, el 'Bootloader' era el de fábrica y estaba bloqueado; y luego de la actualización el celular sigue aceptando cualquier chip SIM y el 'Bootloader' sigue bloqueado como de fábrica. Una vez cumplidos los requisitos y teniendo buena carga en la batería de al menos 75% (idealmente debería estar al 100%), vas en el celular a 'Configuración'>'Energía'>deshabilitar 'Inicio Rápido' (quitar el check mark de la opción). Luego nuevamente en 'Configuración'>'Opción de desarrollo'> Habilitar 'Depuración USB'. Hecho esto debes apagar el celular y esperar al menos 5 segundos para asegur**** que todos los procesos fueron cerrados y el celular está bien apagado (suena raro pero así es). ¡Ahora empieza lo emocionante! Pero no hay que ponerse nervioso, el proceso es sencillo. Hay que encender/prender/iniciar el celular en modo de 'bootloader' (no se como se traduce ese término). Esto se logra apretando la tecla de bajar volumen y de encendido al mismo tiempo. Mantener ambas teclas apretadas hasta que se despliegue la pantalla del 'Bootloader'. Tarda varios segundos en eso. Verificar que diga 'Locked' o 'Relocked' en la línea de texto de arriba. Algo así como '**** Locked ****'. Si dice 'Unlocked' no sigas con esta guía, usa el procedimiento explicado en la '[Superguide]'. En caso de tener un 'Bootloader' bloqueado o re-bloqueado y un GB de fábrica conectar, aun con la pantalla del 'Bootloader' abierta, el celular a la computadora mediante el cable USB. La compu debe reconocer el dispositivo recién conectado indicando que es un HTC Vivid. En Win / es sencillo por el mensaje que se despliega en un globito desde la barra de tareas. Entonces te vas a la carpeta donde bajaste el nuevo ROM del cel, o sea el archivo 'htc_vivid_att_ruu_3.26.502.56_us.exe', y lo ejecutas. Seguir las instrucciones en pantalla, atento a ambas pantallas, tanto de la compu como del cel. Se deben aceptar la ejecución y condiciones en varios puntos, y confirmar que se quiere hacer la actualización. Luego de varios minutos de proceso y varias barras de progreso que llegan al 100% (paciencia, paciencia, paciencia), y cuando el proceso finaliza, desconectar el celular del cable y reiniciarlo. Cuando inicie ya el ICS va estar instalado. ¡Felicidades! To get the ICS update on a AT&T HTC VIVID with unlocked SIM ( not root ) just dial *#*#682#*#* and thats it !!!! (make sure u have full batery or be connected (charging) a download will apear on the bar up the screen i think was like 344mb , its going to take like 15-20 min, then the screen goes black an appear a symbol in the middle and a status bar, just wait for it to finish, When its done your phone will restart like 4 times by itself, and vuala!!! on the next restart the phone just got back on like a normal turn on , after the at&t logos it will appear the Beats Audio logo and next youll see your home screen but with the new under bar and the phone will start asking you to do some app updates. When you finish the updates the phone willnsynchronize all contacts, mails, sms, etc. and thats it !! ENJOY ICS AND SENSE 3.6 ON YOUR HTC VIVID. I hope this post will help other people like me outside the us with sim unlocked vivid using a different carrier to enjoy the update!! Hola , les comento el problema que tengo a ver si me pueden ayudar . Tengo un moto G xt1063 ,soy de argentina y mi provedor es Claro , no se porque motivo mi dispositivo no funciona en 3G , he hablado con Motorola y no me han podido dar una solucion , he hablador con mi provedor y tampoco me han podido dar una solucion asi que trate de solucionarlo yo. El movil me funciona en 2g pero no en 3g , he flashado los modem y , es como si he logrado que me funcione una hora maximo en 3g , despues se corta la senial y vuelve a 2G hubiera un error en el movil , antes me aparecia un cartel que decia " Se ha modificado el acceso a Restringido ", ahora ya no me aparece , pero sigo teniendo el mismo error. ~He flashado a Lollipop y no se ha solucionado ( ahora me encuentro en kitkat ) ~He probado la sim en otro celular y funciona [FONT="<font><font>Franklin Gothic Medium</font></font>"]~ He flashado varios modem (modem NON-HLOS.bin modemst1 modemst2 flash fsg fsg.mbn) y me sucede lo mismo dura un tiempo el 3G y se corta , y vuelve a funcionar en 2G.[/FONT] ~He flashado varios Firmware de stock ~He desbloqueado el bootloader ~He liberado el movil gracias a motorola ~Lo he rooteado He probado de todo y sigo con el mismo error , por favor a ver si alguien que sepa programacion o cual es el error que me pueda ayudar Muchas Gracias

. 3g effort when I cut completely across the network , so the problem is something else , flash the modem and lasts me 30 minutes or so that's what I find strange
