What phone will you be getting after vivid? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Which one(s) do you think are the best out there right now?

Samsung S3 but I'm waiting for the S4

I know most of you coming from the Vivid will hate me for saying this but i will go to the HTC M7 as my next phone. I got to love sense, if you dont, no need to be staying with HTC, but i need my fix of sense

Well... I'm really happy with my Vivid. GLAD I DIDN'T GO TO THE ONE X! And as much as I'd love to stay with HTC (still have a G1) their newest phones are a disappointment. The One series was a huge disappointment. So many hardware defects it really made me lose faith in them. I think my next is going to be a an S4 or I might buy a used SII, switch back and forth and ride it out until I'm eligible for an upgrade and see what's out then.

Gonna see what's available after mwc in February...if nothing interests me ill probably wait for the sgs4...but I've heard rumors that it might not have android but Samsung's own firmware instead...if that's the case...idk lol
Only time will tell...as of now nothing is really catching my eye :/ one x+ looks nice...bit you can't even get diff yet...AMD nexus 4 just doesn't have enough storage for me...I need at least 32gb so I can have music and a couple roms handy (about a 1-2gb worth of Roms)

I love the new sony devices. I had an xperia x10 before this...i will be looking towards something in the xperia line when the vivid dies

Nexus 4... Oh wait already have one!
This phone rocks, if you don't need the extra storage I'd recommend it to everyone... Of course there is the issue that it's really not for sale right now... Ugh. Supposedly February they are coming back in stock, we'll see I guess.
Anyway the device is epic. Pure android, no bloatware, screen is gorgeous, speed is ridiculously fast, put it this way you may not think you have lag on your vivid, until you play with this thing. It's literally iphone smooth. No lte? No problem! Make sure to copy your apn from your vivid and you'll get fast stable hspa+ that you'll never notice a difference from lte on stock. Camera is almost on the same level, maybe a tad bit weaker, but no shutter lag and the 4.2 camera app is very very nice. Build quality is solid, right on par with the vivid, feels sturdy and looks great.
The only issue is 4.2 needs patching. Battery life out of the box is actually worse than the vivid. This is due to the location service being borked on 4.2. Go into maps, Uncheck "report from this device" under location settings and battery life is much better than the vivid, however you don't get the most out of google now with it shut off. It won't show places of interest near you with the option shut off but until google patches it its the best only option.
So to summarize, once google patches 4.2 it'll be perfect. If you can deal with the wait and don't need the storage, I fully recommend it's awesome!

The new sony phones look nice
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

I guess I should mention this about the nexus 4. The screen size is a tad too large. The vivids screen size is perfect honestly, large enough to watch videos, small enough to use one handed. The nexus 4 is a tad too large for a good one handed experience. And the worst part? It's 4.7 inch screen will be considered small by the end of the year.
HTCs new droid dna design is basically going to be the reference design for HTCs next flagships and at 5 inches it's too big, I've played with one too so I can attest to that. The galaxy s4 is also rumored to be 5 inches, and the note 3 is rumored to be a whopping 6.3 inches!
When does it stop? Ergonomics are just going to hell here! I remember when htc released the Evo, my Samsung eternity fit in its entirety inside it's screen and I thought there's no way I'd want a phone that big. I was wrong there, 4.3 to 4.5 is actually the best sizes available hands down. But now screen sizes have just gone haywire! Before you know it people are going to be carrying 22 inch monitors with cell radios!
What's really frustrating is they still make smaller screen sizes but they all blow. Typically feature low resolution screens, dated hardware, and extremely outdated versions of android such as froyo or gingerbread with no plans whatsoever for android updates. Samsung releases about 50 of these Galaxy Rubbish phones a year!

I've been using IncS for just over a year now. I still think my phone is pretty good and fast for me. Now with ICS, it's even better. I believe it can at least last for another year.

Duo/Quad core with slightly better GPU and I'll use it for another 3 years.
My phone is currently with HTC service for changing USB port /mainboard. Depending on the condition it comes back,I'm sticking with my current phone.

I just got my phone back from HTC, I sent it in because my power button was a bit dodgy, and my warranty is running out
Anyway I got it back, more than a month later, and it had a new motherboard, s-on with HBOOT 2.00.000
I had planned to sell it, and buy an Evo 3D, but after I took pictures for ebay, I decided to keep it, and I downgraded and rooted it
As soon as ICS arrives, I will be happy

Nexus Family is one of the best candidates.
My friend moved from InS to Galaxy Nexus for a month, And he told me that he wouldn't buy any other brand but Nexus.
The only current phone I would upgrade to would be the One S, and right now I have no plans to retire my Incredible S for the foreseeable future.

Well my IncS sure had a better battery life.
I would like my onex's battery to last longer, but I can live with it.
And the speed and smoothness is so much greater on this one. And I am running completely stock and not even rooted.
Also I am one of the lucky ones having almost none of the reported issues with the OneX.
So its clearly an upgrade I would recommend

Well, if you had to buy now, I would say you get the Galaxy SIII. You might hate Touchwiz, but if Sense is your thing, there's a port of Sense 4 coming from the Sense4all guys. Performance is good, and you should expect a Jelly Bean rollout soon.
The One X is a good device, but if you plan on rooting it, the 2.20 update (which is on all shipped S4 One X/XL devices) essentially puts you out of luck. The international version is fine, though, and you can also get an official bootloader unlock on it.

i say Siii or wait until the new Samsung note comes out
I say hold off a little longer til you can compare the s3, and note 2 to the One X+. Remember, a variant of the X+ just passed through the FCC, bound for AT&T, just 2 weeks ago. We should hopefully get a definite release date at their events scheduled for tomorrow. My opinion, wait for the Note 2 and X+ to release and compare those 2.

same here looking at the X+ but will it give issues like current HOX users are having now, no root and bootloader locked
Thanks for the recommendations, I'll wait to compare the S3, note 2 and One X+. Maybe the One X+ will be easier to unlock and root versus the current One X.
One X+ looks great, just the thing I've been looking to upgrade to. I really hope its easier to root and unlock bootloader than the current One X.
On a design note, am I the only one who really hates the red soft buttons?
EDIT: Actually it seems as of the AT&T version of the One X+ is going to keep the white capacitive buttons

Yeah I was just looking at the One X+ and comparing it to the note 2, at phone area and both are great looking phones.
If the One X+ is easier to root i might go with it rather then the note 2 sense i really don't like the touchwiz ui.

It does seem like the device to get, but the glass back and lack of lte is a bit of a downer. A reviewer for some company dropped it off a desk and wound up with a major crack on the back. Seems like they could have used a bit more common sense in the design. A case should protect it well enough, but it's still ridiculous that a device of that quality has such a weak exterior.

I would go for the HTC One
There are several reasons why I would get the One over the Nexus 4. The main reason is, that I've always been a fan of HTC phones and build quality. I've also not been a fan of LG. I currently have a One XL and it is awesome. The N4 is better for developers but its going to be more and more behind as far as specs go.
I think for other people the main deciding factor should be interface. With my One X I can choose Sense roms and AOSP roms. With the N4 you're pretty much stuck with AOSP roms.
A friendly advice is post this thread on the General section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=256
Obviously you're posting on the HTC One forum. Why would an aspiring owner of HTC One let his dream device down over any other device?
*Except for the trolls here who got no life and just come in the HTC One section just to say how they dislike the device*
This phone does seem amazing but again it's going to be crippled by delays in updates so that's why I picked the nexus. The 2gb ram, 720p screen and quad core is more than enough, for me at least

I think everyone knows that nothing beats nexus devices when updates are to be compared. But there are some people like myself who rather prefer usability and unique features than updates. I myself am satisfied already with ICS. The sole reason why I decided to get this and ditch my phone is that my phone doesn't officially support ICS and unless I see very significant changes I won't upgrade.
I have a nexus 4 and really want the HTC One. Only reason I'd miss the nexus is the updates.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
One smashes n4. Aside from that, as stated before, with HTC device you can run sense ROMs or AOSP ROMs. More choice. Also, Google makes a point to make sure nexus devices are not top-spec, officially. They do this cuz it's a development device. What good is it to develop on a device that only 10% android users have the specs to support? Also, I checked out n4 cuz all reviews said it felt Luke a million bucks in your hand. I thought, it felt like junk, personally.
From my Evo LTE, yup.
M7 no contest. I'd take a Note II, GS3, Lumia 920, or HTC HOX+ before I went back to the N4.
Monetarily the N4 is great for the no-contract price. In no other way would I pick the N4 as my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38664009&postcount=9 (my opinion)
Who cares about prompt updates anymore anyways. Are prompt updates that important anymore? This is xda. We can have any update or Rom.

HTC can really suck at times... It's pretty amazing how apparently the only ones who don't get why they are doing so poorly is them. Whereas I actually do like HTC especially for their build quality and (gasp) sense, they've really pushed me away. The only thing I give them is that the Vivid was the first nonnexus device to receive an ICS update if I remember correctly, but I don't consider that enough.
As soon as my contract is up plus when the next nexus hopefully with LTE comes out, I'm off to non contract devices from now on and switching to t-mobile to lower my family plan monthly bill by $100. Not even my unlimited data plan is enough to keep me on AT&T.

This is the reason that HTC is losing sales because consumers are buying HTC products to find out that firmware support isn't the best. The S2 is older than the Vivid and is still having a new version of Android. So the next time the person wants to buy a phone they most likely will go for sanother manufacter. If HTC wants to makes there sales beter they should start supporting there older devices a bit more.
HTC always abandons their previous devices and focuses on the new ones. I can't help but wonder if the dna and one series phones are going to get a 4.1.2 update with sense 5.
HTC basically keeps trying to reinvent themselves and cuts their losses with their previous failed products. Problem is every time they do this they are loosing customers. Samsung has gotten pretty good with updates, really they always were. Yeah it took me forever to get froyo and gingerbread on my Captivate, but that was mainly because of carrier testing that slowed it down.
