[Q] Advice regarding firmware region - LG Optimus Black

I have an issue where I bought the phone off amazon UK brand new. It's not carrier branded. And i have no idea of where it came from. I updated the phone to 2.3.4 V20e from 2.3.4 V20c through the Lg updater.
When i choose the firmware. does it matter which region i choose? the closest to me is france for v20e. As I am in ireland.
tldr; Does it matter which v20e firmware region i choose? Or is there another option.
I was using this guide to root my p970
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802092
and this is the firmware list to choose from

Thanks in advance!

[Q] Stock UK CSC (Unbranded)?

Hi All,
My firmware is as follows:
PDA: JMI
Phone: JMA
CSC: JM4 (SER)
I have a UK unbranded Tab. I flashed a full JJ4 ROM and Kernel a while ago, and Kies updated me to the above. I'm happy with the device, but I want to update to GB and I think Kies sees me as being in Russia and not UK...!
Is there a stock UK unbranded CSC? What is the latest UK firmware for unbranded Tabs, anyone.
And just for clarity, I am in the UK. Thanks for any advice...
just fire up the dialer and type *#272*IMEI# and choose your country code
for your info this is will wipe everything in your tab
The only option there is 'SER'...
Sent from my sleek Samsung Tab using Tapatalk.

This is not for P990,but I think you can use this with swapping only kernel (or boot.img).
Because of I can use p990 rom onto su660 with this way.
Just one more word, p990's int sd partition number is 9. but su660's is 10.
Someguy could understand this sense. (vold...)

Any news about V20o???? There's a leak but no KDZ yet. The changelog is awesome.
If you can find anything please post it here.

My phone is Hong Kong Ox2. How do I install this Kernel without bricking my phone? It's rooted. Can I flash using CWM? Also, why can't I just update normally? Its says my phone is already updated. Whats wrong?

Kernel can be flashed through CWM. For Hong Kong the latest is v20d maybe that's why you can't update further.
You can, however, update using smartflash or flash KDZ files using the LG update tool. The latter doesn't wipe your device but both unroots and deletes CWM.
Cheers!

n7000 region and unbranded help

Hey, my n7000 is shows germany in region, and now its on 2.3.6. i'm from israel and like to know if i should change the region for updates? is there a international region?
b.t.w the phone is simfree
If you want OTA or updates over Kies you need to install the proper Rom for your country.
You can find here

iirc, german models were one of the fastest to get updates.
more importantly, tell us which version your device is currently running. if its already on the latest version then its pointless to waste time swapping regions and wiping your device.
its the latest for now
android 2.3.6
baseband xxlb2
kernel xxlc1
iirc, german models were one of the fastest to get updates.

Change Handset region

There are 2 ways you can do:
1. On the dialer *#272*IMENumber# then change your region CSC on the screen that comes out. The Phone will reset to factory with the new region.
2. Flash a stock ROM for your region, in this case Singapore. You can get a stock rom from Sammobile.com.It doesn't matter if Gingerbread or better still chose the latest ICS..
Good luck!
Anyway, if you only want to upgrade to ICS why not try connecting first to KIES to see if there is an upgrade for the region you have now? My GN was bought in the Middle East but I flashed Germany GB ROM and upgraded to ICS 4.03 using kies. From that version I was able to upgrade OTA to 4.0.4.

Best soft for Europe

So I've been using my N5 for more than a month right now and everything is great. I ordered it from t-dimension from UK. My phone is originally from UAE (N920C) and I was wondering if changing my firmware/broadband to the same one from another region could in any way improve my experience/signal. I currently live in Poland and use the stock UAE ROM with arter97 kernel.
Any tips or advices? Thanks.
I had the same question. I am using the n920c in the United States and my rom and the baseband are from the middle east. Tried flashing another baseband with Odin but the old baseband never changed. After couple iof attempts i gave up.
