[Q] S3 Full HD Mp4 Video does not play correctly - Audio only - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys
I am experiencing a problem while playing a S3 Full HD Mp4 Video.
I only hear the audio, no video.
I tried with MX player, software codec, I get the video but it lags a lot, frame rate is poor.
Any idea,
thanks a lot.
Cheers :

I've always wondered why people would wanna play movies with resolutions that exceed the resolution of the mobile display itself... You would get better picture quality playing a video on the device native's resolution. And of course reduce the load on the CPU saving battery....

Yup S Advance can only view what it shoots. 720P.

1080P lags horribly,720p is enough atleast here, very clear.

For who suggests to enable force gpu rendering, thanks but it doesn't work. Even restarting the phone.
For who wonder why I try to play a 1080p on s advance its why I have a friend with a samsung S II and another with samsung S III and if they send me their camera video via Bluetooth, my Samsung S advance play only audio! Ok I pay less I get less but its really so different hardware? I wonder why? Gpu, codec, a simple boolean switch.
Please someone that wonder less and know more.

Buddy it's your lucky day... i have been in shoe's for a long time and got fed up by the suggestion that "why would i want to play 1080p on a 4 inch screen" why don't people get the question i was asking them about ''how to play'', not about will it look great on my screen...
any way after trying about a dozen player i finally got to play 1080p using dice player:laugh:
i played many 1080p videos with medium to high bit rates...hope this will work for you...
Ps: in dice player the videos are shown to be HW decoded but playing them will make your battery back up/charge drop like "Turkey's in thanks giving" Damn i always wanted to use that line:laugh:
Hit thanks if i helped you..and help others who are in need of it

Try BS player. Working great for me.but sometimes u will get only audio, no video, but when u try to play it again, it will play.
Best player for 1080p on S advance.

Can we get 1080p playback in our device?

Can we get 1080p playback in our device?the samsung infuse 4g in us uses the same cpu and has the same same amount of ram not sure abt the gpu tho.but it runs on froyo so hardware acceleration by gpu isnt the case here i think.so can any one develop a tweak or sumthing for 1080p playback and if possible 720p mkv playback, cause it lags in 720p.its irritating cause the cpu definitile has the capabality to play upto 1080p i think.all thanks to a half baked job done by samsung we are stuck with this issue.any input anyone????

No. The i9000 screen resolution is 800 x 480, meaning it has enough resolution to display 720, but not 1080. Nothing to do with software or cpu / gpu potential. Besides which, with a screen display that small, there would be no noticable difference between 720 and 1080 anyway.
Playing a vdo depends on processing power not on screen resolution.i kno there wont be any noticable difference on viewing due to the screen size.but that way i cud play my 1080p contents without converting on my fon.besides i 9000 can already play 1080p vdo.its i9003 that we r talkin abt.

Yes but the same cortex a8 processor just slightly overclocked.

I think its basically GPU, than CPU power which is important for playing vdo. it could be possible with more optimized drivers and compatible codecs to process those vdo files. But where is the development for our device? Not even custom recovery yet to try out and experiment. very much disappointing , st such a large community we do not have a single techy to help us.

i also tried some non-native players, such as vplayer, which allows you to play matroska files... but even a 3Gb sized movie slows down my device... it was 1080p resolution, and i thought that maybe a "little" 3Gb file would work smoothly.
Maybe if you convert it to mp4 or avi, it would work! but it makes you waste your time, and it's so annoying...
I have used kies converter.it converts 1080p and mkv files to 720p mp4.it works.but as said, tym consuming.altho mkv files which are not 720p plays smoothly on non native players.but why isnt sumone with programin knowledge buyin this fon and workin on it.it practically has the same hardware as moto droid x.have u seen the benchmark of that thing on stock firmware!!!

screen resolution is not affecting to play 1080p videos. Because Galaxy S2 also has the same display resolution but it can play 1080p videos. Galaxy Tab P1000 has the same CPU and GPU as galaxy S, but it also can play 1080p videos. So the problem is with the codecs. Hardware is enough to play full HD videos.

[Q] Flash 11 slower than 10.3

Anyone notice that after updating Adobe Flash to 11 from 10.3 video playback seems more choppy?
I can barely play 480 line videos now.
I use 10.3.185.25. It's the only one that will play online video using cm7 based roms
11.1 can play on miui, but have several problems , even with 10.3, adobe and flash sucks

Where can I find that version ?
I'm now using 10.3.186.7, downgraded and haven't looked back.
Sure, its not the greatest but 11 is total ballz.
Just do a search for "Adobe Flash 10.3 apk" eventually you'll hit x.186.7
The best version for me is com.adobe.flashplayer.v10.2.157.51.apk. But I still can't play 720p videos smooth, on youtube from browser. Can somebody help with that? if it's possibile.

There is a diffrence is in the coding i think. 720p looks better eventhough the screen is only 480p.

Lol....no.
@Forforce when you connect via hdmi the image is upscaled very well you would not notice the difference between 480 upscaled and 720 besides that the roms that do support 720 flash in the browser still don't do it very well so performance will still be choppy and isn't worth using 720 over 480. Maybe ICS will change somethings and support it better but i doubt it.

[Q] wathing hd films on x8.

Hi all xda members.I have a question about watching hd films on x8.Can i watch hd films (720p,1020p),when i can whith app is best for this.
Thanks for repiles.
I dont think so, maybe it will play but will be laggy. Try resizing the movie first. Theres a lot of converters out there.
For the apps I recommend MOBO player.

Thanks for fast help.
There is really no point in playing HD video on X8, because on 360p screen (480x360), you obviously can't watch 720p (1024x720) or 1080p (1920x1080) in their real resolutions
so for an example:
if you have one video in 360p, 720p and 1080p, and let's say that you want to watch this video on a device that supports 1080p but it has 360p screen (like X8),
you will end up with that, that you can't distinguish 360p from 1080p video
so my advice would be for you to resize it to 360p, put FPS on 20-23, maintain the sound quality, and that is as much as you can get on X8 regarding playing videos
use popular converter such as FormatFactory.
MP4 DivX Codec
480x320 WxH
20-30 FPS
Birate: 580KiB/s or higher until 2500KiB/s
Audio AAC
128 KiB/s
I never actually tried playing HD vids on my X8 before cuz I I know it will lag, but I think all the apps I would of recommended have already been mentioned
sent from my x8
Thanks now i resize films for my x8 in format factory and give 20-23-30 fps,360p.

Remember its running ICS on a 600mhz Processor, with 512 Ram and almost no power behind the Adreno 200....
Suggestion is to get something that is made to play videos or.... re size the videos with a converter to a less demanding format / definition.

Yea I realise it's not very powerful so it's not gonna play any high quality videos. I mainly just watch music vids on YouTube but I've just noticed generally videos don't look very good when compared to my old x8 but I guess the different screen size might have something to do with it.

Spot on my friend and the best bit, the X8 had a better processor etc haha ^__^
Its not just the screen, its how quick the processor is aswell to process data thats downloaded etc, in the form of videos.
Mine plays SD videos(600xYYY; 700xYYY etc.) quite good. Only problem are mkv videos, I guess the CPU is too weak to decode them properly.
I'm using MX player or BS Player with ARMv7 codecs.
