[Q] Xperia z LED light - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Up till now, no video shows z has LED status light, but zl has. Anyone who has got the xperia z , could you check that does it has a LED light ?

I can confirm that it does have an LED notification light at the top-right corner.

It has an led light..But the main question is that does it work only for charge/battery status..Or also for notifications like sms, mail, status etc..

It works fine with Facebook, SMS, WhatsApp, etc notifications.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2

nice to get a confirmation from somebody actually using it

Another question then, please - how bright is it?
The Xperia S has an LED that would light up a dark room at night, it was ridiculously bright. The Xperia T is the exact opposite - unless you're in a dark room it's quite tricky to see the LED flashing. A comparison to either of those would be brilliant, thanks.

Having used a xperia z for over 2 hours. it does have a notification light, like previous sony phones such as the xperia s etc.
The LED itself looks the same size as the one on the xperia s but not as bright. It is fairly brighter than the pointless dull pinhole size nonsense that was on the xperia T, hope that helps.

It does, thanks, perfect answer!

Your absolutely welcome mate, the LED notification light was one of the first things I compared on the Z to the S and T because I loved the LED on the S, never found it too bright atall. The T is just irrelevant tbh it may aswell not have one. The one on the z is just perfect imo, the best phone I have ever used.

Really? My OH had an Xperia S until she dropped it. At night, if she got a text, the LED was so bright that the phone lying on the bedside table would light up the ceiling enough to see the artex pattern!

I know to some people its a drawback but It didnt bother me that it was that bright. I like the fact it is.

How did you find battery life on the xperia Z, personally to meet your needs?

I haven't truly tested the battery as I'm still using my Xperia S primarily, so I can't say for sure. The Xperia Z is mostly at home and on Wifi connection, so that's not a good indication of battery life.
I did take it out when I went out for drinks the other day. I left home at full charge at around 730pm, the phone was connected to 3G, I took quite a number of photos, surfed quite a bit, showed off the screen and videos to my friends, came home drunk at 2am, slept until 2pm (I know I know) and the phone was still at 57%. :good:

So it again proves the 48 hours battery life with normal use. That's pretty decent for me, could have been better, but on the other hand Note 2 has 3100mah and it barely survives 48 hours.
BTW. Why would you use S when you have Z ?

Cos the Xperia Z isn't really mine as I would have to return it in 2 weeks. I'm also rather lazy to transfer my data between the 2 phones now, and then again when I have to return the XZ. :silly:

Sorry, just got Xperia Z, the Notification Light since like does not work. Do you mean that when Stamina Mode is turn On, it will not function? The Notification Light works on certain Application, so what are the applications? SMS, Email, Whatsapp? Thanks.

Xperia Z battery life gone 3h!!! Dont buy it!

Hello everyone!!
I recently bought an Xperia Z, but the problem is that the battery depletes after 3hours of onscreen time?, i went to the store and they too found it strange since it should have around 6 or 7 hours of onscreen time.
They exchanged the phone and gave me a new one, and sadly that phone had the exact same problem( REALLY!!?!?!!), and to top that, it's with screenlight at 25% and every battery heavy options turned off.
So i went to the store to get a refund. In the store another guy had exchanged his Xperia Z 4 times till He got a Z with a battery that worked as intended....
I will never buy a sony product again after this letdown..
And i would definitely not exchange my phone 4 times to hit the "Working-Battery lottery!"
It seems there is some sort of failure in the release of many of the Z's released, i found this guy with same problem

I also have bad battery life, but yet I don't see your point of making this topic at all.
6/7h on screen time really yo? On a 1080p screen... maybe next year. There are plenty of people that reached 5h+
If you want 7h on screen time, get an iPhone LOL! That way we would get rid of you and you would be with the other sheeple.
Topic is useless, can't believe you made an account just to say that.

I don't get it, my battery lasts all day, I charge through the night and take it out at 7 roughly. Then I use it through the day playing games like shadowgun and using social networking sites like Facebook. I also use gmail quite often and I also watch YouTube videos aswell. If I have brightness automatic and battery stamina mode it can last me throughout the day. I haven't charged my phone sine 7 and I still have 13% charge left.

Pretty sure that wouldn't even work. One of the girls I work with just got an iphone 5 and the battery drains like crazy on that thing. She starts at 3am, and by ~8 she is below 15% and has to charge pretty soon after. Then she has to charge when she gets home, and again when she goes to sleep.
Meanwhile, I am one of the heaviest power users I know of, I use my phone for work (flashlight, camera, calendar, calculator, barcode scanner), frequently check facebook, ragecomics reader app, general web browsing and play store browsing, small downloads eg mp3, apps, flashable .zip tweaks from here, frequently check simpsons tapped out, play some dead trigger, watch about 30 -60 mins of movies, receive a few calls and texts, maybe 10-20 mins of music playback. Out of habit I normally pull my phone out every 10-15 minutes and unlock it, flick around absent mindedlu, then lock it again after not actually opening anything :\ not sure how I picked up that habit.
To top all that off, I have my screen brightness set to 100% with adjust to lighting conditions ticked, I have location services and sattelites on, auto sync on, 4g data always on, wifi on but location based activated, NFC on, and finally, also have better battery stats installed and allways doing it's thing as I am also experiencing some rougue wakelocks I am slowly dealing with (still stumped on what is causing audio_out2 and deleted_wake_lock)
Despite all this, my phone comes off charge around 330am, and doesn't charge till 8pmish when it finally runs out of juice. That is one hell of a solid effort as I have done pretty much nothing to help out my battery, and doing everything to make it struggle.
I have only undervolted slightly, and am using doomkernel on KA04 rom. I am not using stamina mode either. Infact, when I was using it on stock rom, I couldn't see any difference between using it and not using it. I can't really see how it would do much IF you had NO wakelocks (or very little). Besides knocking out LED all it really does it disable background processes, if you have your phone set up right you shouldn't really have any anyway:good:.
This phone leaves my previous galaxy S2 in it's dust for battery life under the same usage in anycase (I used to charge that thing about 3 times a day most days).

+3 or whatever that is up to now.
All phones take time and a number of charges before the battery stabilises, and start running at optimum.

actually on my iPhone 5 I get more like 9 hours of screen time, sometimes 10. Not saying that your friends account is false, but that sure is hell doesn't seem consistent with any battery rundown test I've ever seen.I can go 2 days without charging it roughly, I'm sure the incoming hate and vitriol for my use of an iPhone as a daily driver is about to pour in from the less intelligent Android users, but this is one of the reasons my iPhone is still my daily driver. That and a consistently good camera.
Cheers~
P.S. I have owned many many many Android flagships and am an experienced power user.
Since when did iPhones ship with battery stats?
Or is there an app for that?
Batteries need a few charging cycles before doing their job properly. It's like having sex for the first time. The first time you might be disappointing but as you do it more often, you supposedly become better at it. Batteries work the same way.

Can't believe you just compared batteries on a phone to sex.
My battery life is acceptable. Getting up to 4hours screen time or a little more from 09 - 22. At this time, I then have about 14% more or less. And this is by alot of whatsapp, messaging, maybe a call or two. This is not using LTE. I find it very battery draining so I stick with 3G. Besided i am on WiFi most of the time.
So as long the phone can do a whole day without charging in most normal days for some people that don't travel alot, I ffind the battery acceptable

One-week Review
I myself bought this phone a week back, and I must say, I am happy with the phone.
Fortunately, I didn't have the touch problem in my device. When connected to USB though,
the voltage levels are screwed somehow and the touch behaves abnormally. But still,
files can be transferred with ease. The processor is kick-ass! And also the notification LED!
The battery drain is there, which stems from the various junk-ware installed, but mainly due to
Media Storage and the Google Location Sync. Camera is pretty good for me. However, one downside
I found is the Wi-Fi reception. Sucks big-time! Keeps dropping signals frequently, however does not
affect speed when connected.
Taking both downsides and advantages of this phone, I am in love with my device! Rest is up to you
to decide whether the downsides are grave enough for you to change your choice to another model!
All the best! :good:

Biggest negative point of Xperia SP is its camera. Daytime photography is ok but nighttime pictures are crap. As u mentioned that the wifi router is in your mom's room so the wifi signal strength would be fine. Few people have reported the touch problem but that is when the phone is connected to USB cable or wall charger. Other times the touch response is great. The display is sharp and colours are good, but it is a bit reflective. This issue is when outdoors, but one can always increase the screen brightness.
Best part is the performance for its cost & that LED notification bar, makes the phone look sexy.
So if camera is not the most important requirement, go for it bro.

This issue is with almost all the Sony phones & not only the Xperia SPs. That is because the display used by Sony in their phones is not as good as the display used by some other manufactures like Samsung, HTC etc. However the problem is not severe. You can still use it outdoors if you manually increase the screen brightness a bit. I am from India & even my model is C5302. I have not faced any phone restart issue with my SP till now.
Good luck with your purchase & wish your mom a happy birthday.
P.S. Try to use the "thanks" button (on left side, below the profile picture) for saying thanks. It reduces the number of unnecessary posts written just for saying thanks.

You can have a look at Glaxy S4 mini, Nexus 4 or Glaxy S3. These cost about same as Xperia SP or slightly more. Xperia L is also an option.
But as far as value for money is concerned I feel Xperia SP & Xperia L are better.

Planning on buying a xperia z.

I'm planning on buying a xperia z, but with all upgrades there's a few things I have to check before I can commit on buying a new phone.
1 - how stable are the cm10.2 builds ? Such as battery performance ?
2 - battery performance on stock firmware ?
Screenshots would be great...

I don't believe this at all lol
The battery life is pretty bad OP to answer your question honesty. Also the screen is poor, which may bother you. (very bad contrast and viewing angles). Aside from that it is good. Great design, definitely turns heads
Go look at battery tests, S4 sits as one of the top.
Also op, if you get one without an unlockable bootloder (like myself), you'll never even get to try cm
Well I had 7 h screen on time, and one day < battery. Way better than my sgs2 had.

yep, two people on this site get battery life like this...
Seems legit.
Go check any battery tests on gsmarena, etc.. Did not fare especially well.
I mean it isn't horrid, but 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours of screen on time isn't anything to write home about
Depends
Depends on how you intend on using it.
If you're a avid gamer, then I probably would not recommend it. Battery life when gaming is average or below average.
However if you're not, and gaming is reserved for the tablet, then I highly recommend it.
Aside from being one of the most beautiful phones out there, you can get it for quite a good price now. Performance is, honestly, all you really need at the moment.
Despite what people say, the screen is very sharp (admittedly viewing angles are not the best, but it's not a concern for me as I pretty much always view it front on. Also when you think about it, you get more privacy).
Battery life is not bad at all (if you don't run heavy games all the time). On screen time varies and can be between 3.5 - 5 hours or so, but don't be obsessed with the times though, just enjoy it. Unless you have nothing to do all day then it's quite hard to run out of battery during the day. Talk times and quality are pretty good.
Loving my Z, I can't say that this phone is the best at anything, but all together as a package it's quite awesome. Waterproofing is a bonus.
Give it a 0.2 mm thick back cover, custom rom, maybe a sound mod and I guarantee you won't regret buying one!
Coming from my beloved ville, I'm just looking at phones with 2gigs of ram and a quad cpu, and good dev support. its between these 4 phones at the moment
-nexus 4 (mainly for support and xda support)
-s3 i9305 ( better then the s3 as it was an extra gig of ram)
-note 2 (big ass screen)
-Sony xperia z (1080 screen)
Im not the hugest phone gamer, i mainly use my device for Instagram, tumblr, and other networking apps. Iv watched a few reviews on all 4 phones and I'm kinda leaning towards the s3 and the sony ATM. Its just the screen problems (battery drain, and poor viewing angles)

My advice is not to be overly fussy about what you're looking at. By the time you decide, a bunch of new phones will be released and you'll have to start all over again.
IMO all 4 phones have all the goods you need to do what you want. For what you want to do, battery life on all 4 would be sufficient for a whole day.
They are really not all that different unless you go into the tiny details. Honestly, in my experience, being overly focused on the details will make you regret your purchase no matter what you buy.
I understand why iPhone lovers can be much less stressed with their phone choice because there is really no choice for them. I prevents them from feeling bad about making the wrong decision We all know that the iPhone is not the best but it's owners are happy. For android lovers there is a paradox of choice........ which in this case is a bad thing.
So try to look at it a different way.
Since it will be with you everyday, think about which phone matches you as a person, just like when you're choosing clothes, or a car. E.g if your practical or stylish. Reckless or careful etc.
I got the Z because I like style. You may think it may be a bit superficial but the viewing angles are really irrelevant when you think about it. When would you ever need wide viewing angles anyway? It's not like you have a group of 4-5 friends watching a movie on it all the time (if at all). I don't see anyone tilting their phones at an angle to use it. TV, yes, but phone, no. Everything is pretty much on par with the rest of them (except for maybe battery life on the Note 2, but it's too big IMO)
Trust me. Thinking about it this way will allow you to enjoy your phone more and not regret buying it.
If you ask me, I would recommend the XZ, S3, Nexus 4, Note 2 in that order.

It isn't just viewing angles though, the screen is extremely washed out looking with bad contrast.
But view angles matter if, for example, your phone is laying down on your desk and you turn it on to glance at the time, a text message, etc.. It isn\t extreme angles, it is unreadable if you aren't looking at it directly on.
I own a note 2 and this phone, I wish I could have the two make a baby.
I love the design of this phone, but the screen really gets me down :/
Spending that much money, you shouldn't have to "settle"

Any of those will preform better than the z, and will have much nicer screens.
Get the z only if fashion over function is your thought process (you want a nice looking phone, until you turn it on)

The battery life is pretty bad OP to answer your question honesty. Also the screen is poor, which may bother you. (very bad contrast and viewing angles). Aside from that it is good. Great design, definitely turns heads
Go look at battery tests, S4 sits as one of the top.
Also op, if you get one without an unlockable bootloder (like myself), you'll never even get to try cm

well... at first my s4 got 4 hours of screen time (set on low brightness) after a couple of months it was 2,5.. the samsung batteries are very bad..
the screen is poor... yes... but i like it better, the screen is more visible in the sun compared to the s4... i dont really like the oversaturated screen of the s4 anyway... so win win
great design... that is one of the things.. and waterproof... that was actually why i wanted to change... on my s4 i always ended up hitting the screen when touching the damn buttons and it made me angry in the end.
what amazes me.. is that the camera is the same but samsung has made a better firmware.. the camera works very well on s4.. and the z has a very poor camera compared... focus is not great, black dots etc, low light grain and such... EXMOR surely is just a name.. not worth anything imo

Strange must have been a rogue app, I've had my note since it came out and battery life is the same as it was.
You can change to natural mode in screen settings to completely get rid of the oversaturation.
I definitely agree the z's design is amazing. Easily one of the nicest, if not the nicest, looking android phones there is.
What I don't get is why there is macro mode on Samsung but not Sony :/

I'm planning on buying a xperia z, but with all upgrades there's a few things I have to check before I can commit on buying a new phone.
1 - how stable are the cm10.2 builds ? Such as battery performance ?
2 - battery performance on stock firmware ?
Screenshots would be great...

It's a good phone for the price. It's got a sd slot which is always appreciated. Performance is fine and it's got 2gb ram, that will make it last at least 2 years.
The screen is fine for me. Yes, viewing angles aren't great but nothing to worry about, unless you watch very dark movies at night.
Battery is average, standby time is quite good, screen time goes from 2h - 5h depending on what you do.
Haven't tried cm10.2 but Sony stock firmware is quite vanilla.
It all depends on what do you want, how much do you want to spend, etc.

macro mode? in what way?
well... the phone was deep sleeping properly... so i dont know why the battery was that bad... at least now i can say that my phone has used 60% for 2 hours 10 minutes screen time, 1 hour of calls, sms and web usage... with 2 days of standby... i am not unhappy with that.
all stock.. no root or anything.. i have relocked as i need to get the camera fixed... as i have quite a few black dots... when i get it back.. i will root and unlock the bootloader..

I get about 8 hours of screen on time on my note over 2 days or so. Best battery life I've ever had by far.
By macro mode I mean in the camera, you cannot take true macro pics.

Well, just one thing to contrast. Even the xperia s has a "numberous" higher contrast, in real life it is another story. The display is quite bright and colours are natural. Contrast is good enough for meh.

Xperia T has the biggher Screen (4,55 inch) vs 4,3 on Xperia V. Xperia V is water resistant. idk which one is better. I got the T and I'm happy with it. Roms for both are more or less the same
if you prefer something "nice" in your hand, and you like it a bit more heavy. you know, the feeling when a real "machine" is sliding in your hand. then take the Xperia T. The screensize-hardwaresize relation is better on the Xperia T. The XV has more device around the screen^^
i have an example for you: The T is the rough, more heavy spade, you know. a thing a man like to hold in his hand, when he work in the garden. good size, good feel.
the V is more a cheap and less heavy spade from the supermarket. it maybe feels too light in the hand. you feel worry about it and its size. (my opinion):silly:
but before i forget, the V is waterproof. so if you like to chat with your gf or bf under shower, better take the Xperia V.
if iam right, the V has changeable battery, if you have a focus on that feature, then you will not be happy with the XT, it has no removable battery. i mean if you have a bit knowledge, then you also can change battery on XT, but not officially.
oh i have one more thing: the xperia T will have official OmniRom support. and we have a supernice Miui v5, based on stock sony rom, with great batterylife.
dont get me wrong, the Xperia V isnt a bad phone, for me it just cannot compare with the Xperia T.
short answer, hold them, squeeze them, decide then, buy then.
if you liek to flash custom roms, then have an eye on the bootloader unlock allowed: yes or no!

This kind of reply does help a lot. Thank you!
Well, I see that the Xperia T got it into Sweden, even though it was said to be the international model and the Xperia V the Scandinavia / Nordic countries focused one..
1) Which one gives better battery life?
2) Which is best custom ROM / kernel supported?
3) Which one offers the best camera performance?

Xperia T has 13 mega pixels and the pictures are pretty good (at least at good light), also I think that T has a little better rom support, but theres no big difference as they're pretty similar. Can't tell about battery life though

I want to add two points:
1. The removable battery is useful, when I mod my phone and it would hang. With no removable battery I'd need to wait until the battery is completely depleted. Or unscrew the phone. The phone hung already a number of times. Waiting for an empty battery can be up to 50 h.
2. I think the property to withstand water should not be underestimated. No needing to worry about the weather protection, for example when I go out for cycling, on the motorbike. Or taking pictures of my kid when at the pool I don't need to worry dropping into the water. Immersing it into the pool water and watching the screen on is a bit eery first. I personally do not think the USB flap will hold up that test very long, but I do think it still withstand splashes and rain well, even with a "worn" flap.
As the others above said, both are pretty similar, and I personally don't really see the point for Sony having two products in their range which differ so little. It seems not useful to decide on basis of technical specifications. I would entirely decide on basis of your personal preferences in terms of battery flexibility, screen size and water resistance.

ehm, no...thats not true. if you end in freeze or whatever, you can power+volume up some seconds, hard reset.
short: you not need to wait till battery empty, use key-combination...this cannot be a pro argument for XV

I stand corrected. I did not know this also works on freeze.
Hard reset "boots" you up were to? To a CWM which is hopefully there?
no automatic boot in recovery.

but to come back ontopic:
i would say the XT has more to offer regarding custom roms. at least the XT has the better running custom roms.
we can look forward the newly omnirom, the T will be officially supported
then we have the awesome MIUI v5
we have different themed and tweaked stock based sony roms, a honami rom, and we have AOKP
there are also some Cyaniogenmods, ChameleonOS, PAC (support for that stopped if iam right)
good roms for locked and unlocked bootloaders.
Last time I've checked the T does not have an LTE support. If the gsmarena specifications are correct (http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4958&idPhone2=4899), the T screen supports only 4 finger multitouch and the V - 10. Although I don't know what you'll be doing with 10 fingers on a 4.3" screen . And yes, the battery is removable on the V model.

The rear cover has a rubber around the battery area for water resistance. It's quite clever.
What I trust lesser are the flaps for the two ports. The one for USB is used on daily basis. A free dock should be supplied with the phone (which actually applies to all this phones with contemporary abysmal battery life, IMO).

I checked. I learned hard reset is when booting up the phone, not when UI is frozen. Therefore: No phone without removable battery for me.

AGAIN. if the UI is freezing OR if you fazing bootloop, you can shutdown the phone with power button+volum up. its a FACT.
No need to wait till battery empty. i not understand how you can think you have to wait till battery is empty. NOT true.
you seem to misread
SOFT RESET = 1 vibration then let go of buttons (hold about 3 seconds); Like hitting REBOOT.
HARD RESET = 3 vibrations then let go (about 10 seconds); Like taking out the battery.

And as a XT user i can confirm this, i never ever waited till my battery is empty.
The removable battery argument isnt that necessary, like many people in the internet make it. but whatever, personal taste and so on ...

[Q] Sony Xperia Z as a business phone (daily driver)

Hi All,
I've been considering switching BBerries @ work to Sony Xperia Z for 2 reasons - 1. Android & 2. Apparent resilience to shocks, accidental drops
I've had several friends buy Xperia (TX mainly) and they reported a lot of instability. I'm generally advised against getting one for business purposes.
Now I've got more experience with Samsung phones and AOSP so my question to the community is. How good is the Z out of the box. Would you advise to flash a specific stable firmware or just going vanilla?
Lastly how's the resilience of the phone? There are some impressive videos on youtube as well as underwhelming ones (mainly due to the plastic protector that scratches super easily)
Oh and I'm open to suggestions as well for other models/brands (requirement is running android 4.2 at least)
Thanks

Is it that bad of a phone?
I have Go and Z as daily phones. I work for cnc & industrial maintenance. So far (about 10 months) both phones has survived without major failures. Few drops and lot of moisture and harsh environment. Best thing is you can rinse phone with water it it gets dirty. I would recommend to get GOOD screenprotector and for Z just some simple cheap case which you can replace if it in bad shape.
Only thing is using phones with gloves on. Basic thin gloves are ok but usually gloves with protection against sharp objects won't work.
And also speaker is the weak spot. Some of my friends clean the speaker with magnet if it gets dirty. I haven't tried this yet..

Thanks for your reply. Have you experienced any software bugs, restarts, etc? Do you have your email pushing to your phone all day over 3G? How's the battery life?
Thanks!
With Stamina mode on it's day to three days. I use K9 with listmail widget and it's working ok. No real problems, and using with dock it's good for office use. Depends quite lot of Internet usage and other stuff. But no real complain yet. Just new keyboard is not so well suited compared to old T9.

That's quite a lot of battery (if it even gets close to 2 days) What about without stamina mode on?

I just wonder if it'll last from Morning till Evening (6am - 8pm) on 1 charge with several calls a day and emails syncing all day as well.

Just to be sure, are you talking with or without stamina mode? In my experience Data eats quite a lot of battery life particularly when syncing all day. It oftens prevents deep sleep if you got bad reception.
And is there a 'better' firmware for the phone? I seem to see various issues with 4.3 on the Z

Screen on time isn't affected by stamina mode, as stamina mode only activates when the screen is off. Stamina mode only has a negligible affect on battery life in my experience in any case.
If I use my phone normally, ie make a few calls, send and receive a few SMS and emails with some internet browsing, then I normally have in excess of 80% battery remaining when I get in at night. I have all syncs enabled at all times.
The usage you describe will never drain the battery in a day.

The Z has a glass back and front screen. I cracked my screen while the phone was in my pocket during a meeting. Maybe the ZR or the ZL may be better suited for you if you tend to keep the phone on you/ on surfaces that may cause it some shock / damage, unless you're purely interested in water resistance... In that case, the Z1, Z1S, or the ZR may fit your requirements....

FullHd screens draind battery like hell.
I also use z as primary phone for work. 3 exchange accounts connected via push settings, linkedin account and also every kind of messaging application works on background. (Working international, everybody uses different mesaaging system, so i have to install all of them.)
Also social media applications like facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest etc etc.
Bluetooth sbh50 connected allday. At least 3 hour call and 3 hour music over bluetooth device.
Several remote connections made with phone. Also wifi hotspot in day time.
Still i can get one full day with one charge.
I've allways set my device to one kind of network. 3g always.
if you use 2g/3g/lte section, phone will allways look for faster network in area. That mean your phone allways in search mode. That might kill your battery in several hours.
That situation is not for only xperia z, search mod will kill all phones.
Just keep in charge while you are sleeping, keep battery for when you need it. If you sleep and recharge for tomorrow, let your phone to sleep and recharge for tomorrow.
You might also consider to get Z1S. 720p screens more battery friendly. I have also xperia sp. Definitely more battery frindly because of screen.

I appreciate the details. May I ask what firmware you're on as well? I may consider the Z1S. As a reminder this is for use at the office by my colleagues who have been on black berries so far. So obviously they'll complain about the battery. But the scenario you described puts my mind at ease.
I'm using latest version .569.
But still if you compare with blackberry all smartphones will take lower battery usage. Because of blackberry devices a little dummy phones.
How big your screen you will consume more power, how fancy and complicate your device, will consume more power.
Recently my company renewed all phones. All blackberry users are still happy because of more friendly and powerfull phone.

I absolutely agree with everything you said. What phones did your company pick up to replace the BBs?
