Follow the philz method instead.

Thread reported, not development, and this question is explained in great detail.
There are at least three drop-dead easy root methods for Galaxy S.
While I'm at it:
CF Root (flash with Odin, provides easy root)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
z4 Root (just install app, very easy, works on almost all ROMs)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
SuperOneClick (run app on PC, pretty easy, works with all ROMS AFAIK)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Edit: just a reminder to use search next time and read stickies

Very well said. I might just quote you on this and paste your response on the next 300 "how to root" questions that will come in here at the Q&A section

Oooooo.. feature idea. Have the system auto post this to new threads posing this question in the opening post. And then send the thread to the trash bin.
To be fair to the OP, he's also asking about the recovery signing issue (3e). Personally, I run a custom ROM that includes a kernel which has fixed the recovery issue already resolved. You can do the same or flash virtually any of the kernels found in the dev section. For example, check out the SpeedMod kernel.

If I am not mistaken, CF root should take care of that. But I haven't used it in months so I could be wrong.

[Q] Somewhere a list/search of all Chainfire roms?

Hi folks
It's my first question, and you will immediately remark that I'm a noob.
But I searched more then a day, but I can't find the answer here, or anywhere on the web..
Every thread where, Chainfire post his su+bb+CWM5 roms, there are only direct download links. But how I can find the newest one for my firmware?
I never saw a complete list of all his roms, where I can choose the actual one (like on sammobile).
If I take this for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784&highlight=aut i can find on the first page the rom "CF-Root-SGN_XX_AUT_KKA-v5.0-CWM5.zip" which I like to take because I'm from switzerland. But KKA is a bit old. Actually i have installed N7000OXXLA1. So how can I be sure that there isn't a newer CF-Root-SGN_XX_AUT from chainfire for me. If I take the link from CF-Root-SGN_XX_AUT_KKA-v5.0-CWM5.zip which is http://download.chainfire.eu/68/CF-Root/SGN/CF-Root-SGN_XX_AUT_KKA-v5.0-CWM5.zip I have no chance the search for a other, never one like CF-Root-SGN_XX_AUT_L... . And to search in all threats with over 100 posts just to see if there is a newer as the one I already found is a pain in the ...
So how did you guys do it?
And if I can't find a chainfire rom for my actual firmware, do I have to downgrade first to KKA install the CF rom, apply the zergrush exploid, install mobile odin pro an then install N7000OXXLA1 again? If I do it that way I will not loose CWM recovery no?
Thanks for anyone who can give me a hint.
Kind regards.
AbuZubayr from switzerland
Not even one reply ?
Was it such a stupit question?
I have one thread per device model I support ...
Once CF-Root thread for SG Note, one CF-Root thread for SGS2, etc
If the kernel isn't listed in that thread, it doesn't exist *unless* I've made a full ROM download, which I very rarely do, and would have it's own thread.
There's no special list, the thread *is* the list.
its all listed in CF's thread. Check 2nd and 3rd posts, you will find LA1 kernel.
Morning guys
Thanks for your answers.
So I'll have a closer look to those threads. Last time I tried to use the search function (only in the specific thread), but with the pattern searched I didn't get a result. Maybe I did something wrong, but I tried with patterns which are written in the thread for sure, because I found the later on while reading page by page.
Anyway, thanks for your work chainfire!
Kind regards.

[Q] Toolkit Questions

Hello people,
I am fairly new to this forum and I have the following questions that I would appreciate help for.
1. Has any one rooted the I9305, HongKong ( ZHBLJ1 ) Build using the Toolkit? This build is not there in the Toolkit model selection options for I9305.
2. Can we flash the CWM intended for I9300 on our I9305 ?
Thanks in advance!

The most simpler way to root at the moment is this:forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
As an extra you'll get a patch to security hole of exsynos syst3m.
Regarding recovery dont know for cwm but you can use goo manager from the market to flash TWRP. Just open the optios and choose something like 'install the open recovery script'.
For the case yiu are wondering, yes I am using GS3 LTE I9305.

TWRP works for the i9305? I don't think so, the official site doesn't state it and I have not seen anywhere else that it has been ported. Then again, I haven't tried it myself

I am terribly sorry. You are right. The problem was I have both GN 2 and SG3, was tired and so mixed the devices...
Regarding root method, that works on both devices.
Here is a link for the case OP wants to install CWM:
www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s3-gt-i9305-root-clockworkmod-recovery-126605/
Here is the direct link to xda thread in dev section;
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394
I will also try flashing twrp later when i find time and report back.
Regarding the toolkit, that's actually a question for the dev. I am going to ask him that by myself, I have donated version and since he has a thread in dev section of I9305 he should have some knowledge about this and what for his toolkit can actually be used with LTE SG3.

Is there anything I need to take care of before rooting using the first method? Apart from the usual backup of data? Any issues with the Camera as mentioned in that thread? (this is pertaining to our I9305 specifically).
Thank you, I will track that Toolkit thread for I9305 as well!
Managed to root it using the app by Chainfire,
still for CWM

You got link for CWM? Regarding camera problem, it doesn't have anything to do with rooting. It happens on some devices if one ticks 'patch hole' or whatever. I personally didn't have that problem but another one which maybe isn't related to the patch. It happened only once, a day ago, couldn't hear anything when calling someone or when someone was calling me. Reboot 'solved' it.
To bad that the best SG3 edition receives so little support from devs. It is probably Samsung's fault. They even change encryption method, or some parts of it, so for example with note 2 I am not able to use twrp when encrypted. In feature I am going to buy probably only nexus devices even galaxy note feature editions could pose a temptation. Bit soon we will be getting devices with 1080 resolution and hopefully there will be nexuses with bigger screen.

Yes from the link you gave, Thanks. I am having the problem that the CWM doesn't stick and I get the stock recovery back after the reboot.. They are talking about the /system/boot-recovery.p file which isn't on my phone. It has the /system/recovery-from-boot.p file. Are they the same file ?
Even I am surprised that our S3 model has such little support here. I am hoping that it will only get better as many people get their hands on this!! :good:

[Q] Lost root after flashing Android 4.3

Hi guys, I know you have tons of rules here and I tried my best to respect all of then by searching for a thread containing info on what in looking for but I couldn't find one. I rooted my phone a couple of years back and have been flashing various ROMs since. About a week ago however I flashed an unofficial android 4.3 ROM by CyanogenMod and after that once I discovered how buggy it was (as per the developer's warning) I decided to flash something else. However I couldn't access my recovery menu no matter what I tried and it looks like I've list root but I can't be sure of that. Ask the root apps aren't working and I got a toast from one of them saying you need root access to use this. Right now what I want is a way to either reroot or maybe there's a simpler way of solving this problem. If I could access the recover mode menu I could use the conventional way of rooting but right now I can't even di that. I'd really appreciate a solution if any of you could take the time out to give me one. Thanks so much and I really hope to hear from you.
I assume you flashed Chas' rom. If you could just read the op.... Chas gave everyone a soultion on a silver plate..
er.sorry

To be really honest I'm not sure whether it was his ROM or not since I got it from a YouTube instructional video. There was a direct download link. Do you think you could please do me a favor and point me in the right direction to the solution? Losing my mind here since it's so buggy

Go to Chas' Asylum thread in Android development, and use the search option. He gave the solution on 8th of August.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
At me it worked.
And saw it posted in a 4.3 thread/post
You have to disable and re enable it in developers option in settings.
And then try root privilege using apps to check if it worked like type su in terminal

Full Root??

Hello fellow xda devs and users, I just made a new account to ask a question about root I just saw for the Gs6 on The Android Soul, I just want someone to verify if its true that this root work or not here is the link they said it will void your warranty so be careful if you are going to test it theandroidsoul . c o m /how-to-root-att-galaxy-s6-s6-edge-and-s6-edge-plus-90169/
couldnt post full link since Im new user but just remove the spaces and insert it in your browser
The package you posted uses the same package that @metalcated uses in his rooting tutorial. However, the one you posted does not include SuperSU.

Doesn't look as if it will do full foot at all beyond adb root. It does say to install SuperSU from the play store but that's been attempted and does not work. Also to note that the post also says to "Step 5.*Enable*OEM unlock*on your device." - This does not work on AT&T Samsung phones, the option does not even exist on my phone itself.

I tried it.
It will give you ADB root access only.
This method will force you to reenter your wifi information everytime you reboot or lose the wifi signal. There was another issue but I have tried so many root methods I forgot what it was.
TLDR; Don't bother with it. Use Metalcated's method
