[Q] Xperia Z with 4G service ... in the US - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I placed a pre-order last week for the xperia Z from handtec.uk for shipping to New York.
I am presently using a Lumia 920 on Simple Mobile and have had excellent 4G service for months now.
Does anyone know if I will be getting the same 4G service with the xperia Z on this network?
LTE I will not get since am not using the phone on AT&T network and is not offered by Simple Mobile, which is fine with me.
Thanks

For HSPA+ the C6602 for LTE the C6606.

My mistake guys, I'm actually on Straight Talk. I did check my order and handtec said the model they getting would be the Xperia Z ET964 C6603.
In any case, I cancel the order this morning since I realize that the phone will be a bit too large for my taste plus those port flaps will be a pain in the arse in the long run. Will wait for the ZL ... as it will suite me better.
Thank you all for your responses. Cheers

The C6603 is the LTE model. C6602 is not. The ZL will not be much smaller though.

Hey, I'm currently waiting for the Z. I love the design and the hardware. What service providers are going to support the phone?, what will the price be?, and when should it be available?
The pricing will around be a steep $800-850 for the unlocked version. Supposed to release in feb end-march first week if the rumors are to be believed!

None of them. You might be able to buy em unlocked, but I'm not sure. The C6603 will work on AT&T HSPA+ but not on LTE. The C6602 will work on AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA+ but doesn't have LTE either.
Verizon and Sprint (and other CDMA networks) won't have any Sony phones any times soon.

The Z and ZL will be available in the US definitely. It will be available in Sony Style stores. They don't post coming-soon items on Sony Style website. You have to check Sony Mobile's website to see what devices are coming. The date for the states might be about a month at latest after other regions (So hopefully by end of April, we'll see it in the States). This is from how the past has been for US market. Don't worry, I'm waiting along with you :fingers-crossed:
Why do I know that the device will come to the US? Sony will get sued if they post something that won't come to the region as false advertisement. It happened to some other regions a while back when they were SE.

The Z has LTE and HPSA+ variants. Not all LTE models will work with LTE from various carriers. AT&T LTE isn't supported on the Z according to the whitepapers.

It will work on some carriers besides T-Mobile that use some of the same bands, but I'm not sure of which ones. You can Google "Xperia Z C6606 tech specs" to see. Or check it out on the Sony Site. It has tech specs and gsm bands listed I think.

Well the xperia z is actually the C6603 and the non lte version is C6602. Anyway. Wifi calling it could be that this is a t mobile software related thing or u might be able to download it from the app store. Lte should work but I can't fully guarantee it. Since since 3 or out of 6 lte bands are supported on the Europe's version.

What? The OP is asking about the C6606. It doesn't matter which model you or I have or whether the LTE on the C6603 works in the US, as that has no bearing on the question at hand.

But isn't the Xperia Z u buy in a sony store the non branded C6603 even in the USA so the C6606 is the t mobile branded version and he wanted to know if when buying it directly from sony will work with everything. And it has some of the lte bands but not all. It could work on lte but also couldn't or only works half of the time since some bands are different on the xperia z in the sony store. But I could be wrong and the xperia z u buy in a sony store in the USA is the branded T Mobile C6606 version. It's not "pissy" to point out misinformation. This is not a social hangout. It's a development site. If you don't know the answer to something then don't post.
The whole first page of this thread is filled with you posting about things you don't know about and me correcting you (apart from the useful post by G1_enthusiast). That is not being helpful. It just wastes people's time.

Probably a silly question to those familiar with the Z but is the 6603 the same as the 6606 (apart from all the tmobile crap loaded on it and the logo on the back)?
I'm already on tmobile with an xperia p and I'm looking at buying a Z, I can get a factory unlocked 6603 on amazon or I can buy a 6606 on the sony site.
Would I have access to tmobile LTE with the 6603?
Thanks in advance.
If you do not get the C6606 you will not have WiFi calling. That is a software specific feature for T-Mobile.
Even installing the .67 C6603 firmware/software on my C6606 removed WiFi calling as an option.
As for LTE I am uncertain. Spec wise it looks like you are covered. But I did not flash the baseband when I flashed my phone. So the modem is still from the C6606 and LTE is working. The only thing is that it shows 4G in the status bar rather than LTE.

I had it on my Sony Z... hope someone ports it over to Z1....
... but there is liek a 10k bounty for it in the galaxy s 3 forums, and i think like a 1500$ on the Nexus 4 forums...
.. but i think it should be easier getting it from the Sony Z to the Z1 no?
Don't hold your breath for this one. I can't believe it's so difficult, but I'm not a developer and have no idea what it entails. I gave up on this after a quick bit of research and decided I'm just going to buy the T-Mobile version when it is released and sell my Sony-branded version. I wish this was easier!
I was also interested in the Moto X and found it's the same case: no wifi calling and no port or anything.

From Sprint to TMobile Xperia Z1?

So, I've been hearing Tmobile USA will get the Z1. I'm currently a Sprint customer, so I have a few questions.
1. Will the Tmobile version be lte?
2. Opinions on if this phone is worth making the switch for or if I'm better off waiting till April and using my Sprint upgrade?
3. How is Tmobile's coverage and speeds on the DFW area?
Any help would be appreciated. I've never had a Sony phone but the Xperia Z had me tempted to switch and now with the rumors of the Z1 coming here I'm incredibly tempted.
