Motorolla Lapdock - Galaxy Camera Accessories

Hey guys.
I think the motorolla lapdock would actually work pretty well with the galaxy camera
http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/21/3105822/motorola-lapdock-hacked-raspberry-pi-rikomagic
read what they said for the s3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762817
What you think guys ?

from what I can tell, it should work fine.
your biggest issue would probably be how to attach the dock to the HDMI and usb ports without breaking off the connectors.
the only reason there's a problem with the galaxy s3 is because it uses the same port(usb) for usb-otg and hdmi(mhl), but the galaxy camera has separate ports.

works in the technical sense, display mirrors but is crushed so it looks like dirt. Same issue I have with the Note II
was not able to get the keyboard/trackpad to work.
have to fish out my samsung OTG adapter and try again.

Tv out via 3.5 jack

I wanted to know if it is possible to connect our device to a tv which has not have a hdmi port, through a 3.5 rca cable like galaxy s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SU4Czu3LpU.
Does the hardware support it!?
interesting, i have this cable will try and get back in the morning.
If you watch the video, the galaxy s has a TV out option, in the settings, I have not seen this on the note, so i doubt it will work.
John.
i was thinking if the hardware exist then someone with the proper knowledge do the job.
You have an MHL cable to do a HDMI connection!
I have one right here from my galaxy S. Tried it last year on my note and sad to say it doesn't work.

Agreed just use the MHL cable.
Its only a few pounds from eBay and works brilliantly. Perfect HD picture.
However I've noticed this function is no longer working now I'm on paranoid Android ICS so I might have to revert back to stock rooted GB.
Tried out the cable ... didnt work
MHL is the way to go.

MHL cable anywhere?

Has anyone found a compatible mhl cable to order?

I've tried Samsung and HTC cable but the quality is not top notch. The television says the signal is 720p but it looks kind of blurry... anyone have any information on the video quality outputted from the phone?

i didn't try it for myself, ebay has a lot ....
ebay {2]
Search on google for: 3m 10 Ft MHL Micro USB HDMI 1080P 3D Cable fr Samsung Galaxy i9100 HTC Sensation
This one works over here.
I tryed my old MHL cable adaptor (bought some months ago for my old SGS2) and the video quality it's great but no digital audio from device. :'(
Some other people tryed other adaptor?
Samsung works great
I bought the one from Samsung original, amazing 1080p quality, best I ever saw on my 40 inch television.
It's the one that samsung offers for S2 and S3 and it works really perfect, no lag, no glitches and it gives amazing high quality.

But Samsung has different cables for S2 and S3... I have MHL adaptor for S2 and it works perfectly with P880. With sound of course...
Is there a way to wirelessly mirror content? I think the SGS3 can do this with a special apparatus or something.

I retried it and great video and audio. Sorry. But only in 720P. My TV it's HD-Ready and not FULL-HD.
My MHL adapter it's a simple model compatible with GS2 and I bought on eBay one year ago. I payed it only 10 euros.
I can see some of you having success in display it on the TV
but I have try two different MHL adapter (I dont know if it is for S2 or S3 but I can;t seem to get it work on a computer monitor with HDMI
are there any sitting I need to change or apps that I need to install???
Maybe some settings in the hidden menu will do the trick for those where it doesn't work (not tested, since I don't own a MHL-Adapter)
Type: 3845#*880# in the phone app and the hidden menu will open. Scroll to the end and choose "HDMI Resolution Test"
There are some Settings, maybe something will make the Adapter work
will try
Hey,
I am occurring the same problem, and its annoying, but credit to Hidden92 in the "resolution" menu under "HDMI Resolution Test" , i have changed resolution to any of them and only once the email on my Samsung TV appeared.
Also i have noticed that the settings that i am selecting doesnt saved and each time i am getting into "HDMI Resolution Test" menu , the settings rolled back to default.
Well...
Anyway , you should try to do this , the less it will work for you
=====EDIT======
I have managed to Play movies using MHL cable.
it has been some connector problem, i have moved the cable abit left to right and it begin to work.
Hey MrWunderbaum,
I own 4X and using Generic MHL cable 1080p that was bough for 15$.
Everything works fine.
You should try.
In Addition, LG owns their own MHL cables , but they are abit more expensive.
I tried and mhl 3M cable that is supposed to charge the cell phone while you project, but the problem is that it must be connected to energy to work. the cable is supposed to be designed for samsung SIII and SII
Sorry for hijacking this thread a little bit and pardon my rant.
Not too long ago i bought a mini HDMI to HDMI cable for my Optimus 3D. But now im using 4X, I can't help but feel i've been f**king trolled by LG somewhat cause that cable i had is now utterly useless. Instead they are using this MHL cable.
i mean, why can't they put a mini HDMI port for the good of saving the planet and our wallets like what they are doing for microUSB?
I've got few questions in mind. Are they going to introduce another cable for their next line-up? Is this MHL port here to stay? Nobody wants to spend 30 bucks buying a cable and to have it put out of the picture by the time he change phone next year.

MHL will stay I guess. Mini-HDMI is actually quite useless, it is necessary to add an additional port to the phone for something that can be done using the already existing one (less places where dust can get into the device). The only problem is the high price for MHL cables (The mini-HDMI adapter for my O2X was about 3€).
Cheap and good
I use this: http://goo.gl/13LEr
Play 1080p and Netflix for HD TV very well.
I have ordered myself S2 mhl adapter that also has seperate charging port. I dont need long wire as i already have long hdmi cable connected to tv, so i just needed smaller adapter to connect to tv hdmi cable. Hope it works - mhl + charging
Check out the 1 i ordered (already shipped ) :

Unusual HDMI port

I have a HDMI cable that works perfectly in a Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Note II, so I was certain there would be no problem using it on the Galaxy Camera, but it seems to be a proprietary port which is a fraction smaller than a micro USB.
I am a bit angry about this, as it means a (probably expensive) Samsung branded cable needs to be purchased. Considering how expensive the camera is, Samsung should have at least provided one.
The other problem is finding a retailer that sells one. I can't seem to locate one as yet.

Hi there, with regards to the HDMI port on the Samsung Galaxy Camera, I believe it is using a standard micro-HDMI sized connector. These ports have been in use on Android devices for a while now so you should be able to pick one up for a reasonable price rather easily. Here is an example of a cable that should work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-HDMI-...=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item1e6125af08
Good luck in your hunt!

Thanks for the info, I guess I was so used to a phone's multi use Micro USB socket I forgot that the camera has a separate HDMI socket and that it's pretty much standard! Doh!
I shall now buy a cheap one off eBay.
Thanks again.
I bought on ebay an HDMI cable compatible with GS2 and Note, but with gCam does not work. Does anyone know tell me a compatible model, tried in person? Thanks

I know that Samsung HDMI cable are not compatible betwwen S2/Note and S3. I believe Note 2 and Galaxy Camera use same new format that S3 and it's probably why it doesn't work for you. but not 100% Sure.

Samsung uses 3 different types of connectors in their devices.
there's the regular mhl connector used in the note 1 and S2 which I think is a 6pin connector.
The note 2 and S3 use a Samsung mhl connector which has 11 pins and also allows you to use usb for sync/data transfer while outputting video.
and there's the regular old standard micro sized HDMI port which is used in the galaxy camera.
It's a tiny little port next to the battery, which requires a $0.50 adapter plug to get a full sized HDMI cable plugged in, or you can just use a cable with HDMI micro on one end and full sized HDMI on the other.

[Q] HDMI port issue

Hi team,
I just bought an HDMI cable to connect by phone to the TV. The problem is that the cable just wont fit in to Note1. However, it works perfectly fine with Note 2.
I can use the same charger to charge my Note 1 and Note 2. But the HDMI cable port just wont fit inside Note 1 as if its not meant for it. I tried to push it but it refuses to connect.
AFAIK, HDMI cables are universal and can be used on any phones which supports this feature. I may be wrong.
Any ideas what is causing this issue?

Don't know how it looks on Note 2, but all Note 1 has is USB port into which fits only USB.
Sending screen to other devices is done with MHL converter, which has USB plug which goes to Note, USB port for external power and HDMI port for connecting to TV. I'm sure more info can be found in accessories forum.
PS. I have a vague feeling that questions should generally be posted in Q&A forum...

The man is bang on, there's no hdmi port on any phone AFAIK... Mhl ports vary pins on generation of phone, so the note2 matches the s3 and I think the s2 matches the note, but it usually states on the product page which models they fit.

Hi there, It looks like a Y shaped cable. One end goes into the phone (charger port) and on the other side, there are 2 wires (ports), one goes into the HDMI port on the TV and the other goes into the USB port on the TV. The USB port does the job of charging the phone simultaneously while the HDMI does the job of extending the screen from phone to TV. There is no MHL adapter. The cable does all the job.
On the package, it says for Galaxy S3 so I guess it will work only with S3 and Note 2. I need to buy one more which is compatible with S2 and Note1.
My only question is that since the charging port on Note1 and Note2 is similar, how come there is still a compatibility issue with Note1? I was under the impression that the cable/port would be standard for these Samsung android phones and if it fits into Note2, then why note on Note1?
That's called an mhl adapter. The port in the phone is micro usb, so the signal is converted to hdmi.

Tab S2 and MHL cable - doesn't work?

Hi all. I have a tab s2 on marshmallow, only had it a couple of weeks, and found an MHL cable from a Samsung smart tv I've had a couple of years. I assumed this Samsung cable would just work and I could watch the tablet on the tv. Not so. I'm gutted as my old tablet had micro hdmi so it was painless.
Do I need to do anything to get MHL working? Am I missing something?
Screen mirroring is fine but I've found lip sync issues with sound hence wanting it connected directly.
Thanks in advance. Alan
I know their phones haven't supported MHL for a few generations now, and I'd honestly be surprised if the Tab S2 does.
Of course I've just had my tablet for a week, and don't have an MHL cable, but that's just my thought

Note 4 was the last Samsung smartphone, AFAIK, to support MHL-out. That truly was the last great Samsung device because after that they jettisoned removable batteries, infrared blasters and, for a year, expandable storage. All in the name of saving a few pennies and trying to be hipper and more Apple-esque.
