Touch Wiz Ux Mod - XDA-University

I am looking to mod the Touch Wiz Ux launcher to have a centered AllApps Button. Instead of all the way to the right, I have seen other people do this to the launcher before, but i cant seem to Figure our where or how to make this possible. Would greatly Appreciate it if you could, lend any sort of help to which xml or what needs to be done thanks. I am also looking to change it so you can put 5x5 apps on the pages, i seen this done. Not the App drawer 5x5, that already posted, but the actual launcher page, having the ability to have 5 apps by 5 apps. If there is an xml or somebody knows which one i need to edit for that as well it would be great appreciated.

[MOD] Custom TouchWiz Dock!

Thanks to voghan from THIS POST for porting over the Vibrant TouchWiz30Launcher.apk we can now have custom docks like below.
I have written instructions on my blog HERE
Enjoy!!
I read your thing and it worked fine but i figured out how to make any image into a dock
1. you make a new photoshop document with the demensions 488 x 122
2. take the image you want and drag it on the document sizing it to cover all white space.
3. save as homescreen_menu_mainmenu_bg.png
4 continue with taypotts instuctions
How do you change the launcher apps? I keep trying and googling and I cannot seem to figure it out. Thanks!

Look at alternative home replacements. I know LauncherPro and Zeam offer the ability to change the number of columns in the application launcher, that would reduce the extraneous white space.
Wow.... yea I should have thought that.... for some reason I thought coding was involved... silly N00b me

Is there a way to change Vegan 5.1's status bar?

Does anyone know if there is a way to change/theme the appearance of the status bar in Vegan 5.1?
Using one of the launcher apps (LauncherPro, ADW) I can change lots of the UI's appearance, but I haven't found a way try different icons and colors in the status bar.
Is it possible?
Thanks to the devs for all of their excellent work!
check these guys here... So far, Awsome work!

Thanks it2steve! So if I am reading this correctly, there is not currently a (simple) way to swap icons without creating a new custom ROM using their status bar icons, correct?
That is, I don't see instructions for applying them.
Excellent work though!
There is a patch to change every thing to android green. Sorry but I don't rember what post I downloaded the patch from. Maybe someone else might remember and can share.

Wow thanks everyone! I realized that my original post violated the "tinkerers' creedo" which is: "there is ALWAYS a way!"
What about moving the icons?
Hi,
Is there a way to re-arrange the icons on the status bar?
I love having the back/menu/home buttons up there but, for me, they would work much better if they were all on the left.
I've been poking around in framework-res.apk but so far I can't find the config for this.
Thanks,
~ray
PS: I'm new to vegan and the gtab but not to android or linux (and I'm also an SE). So I expect I can figure this out with a little nudge in the right direction.

Install button savior from the market and you can place another set of onscreen buttons on either the left or right side of your screen and adjust the height
Thanks. That looks interesting but, at the moment, I'd rather change the status bar icons, if possible.
Agreed - I have Button Saviour for now but it's not ideal...
I'd much prefer to have the icons moved to the left side of the notification bar as it is in TnT Lite...
Perhaps now that Vegan build has access to VS source (for TnT config) and the collaboration with CyanogenMod 7 source, we'll see more tweaks in the next Beta (RC?)

HTC Sense transparency

Hey boys and girls I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get transparency on HTC sense, specifically on the bottom navigation bar.
I've been searching around but the only things I could find were non-htc sense home screen managers alternatives.
That's pretty much the only thing that annoys me about sense (the huge Phone and useless "+" button) but I love the 7 screens and the widgets so I wouldn't replace it with an alternative.
Thanks in advance!
To change the "+" button check out the marvelous jpool's thread here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809356
And to make Rosie transparent you'll have to crack open htc resources framework and edit the images inside, if you want post up your framework and ill edit it for you.

If you are on VillainROM12 there are a few themes [URL="http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?96-VillainROM-12-Themes]here[/URL]
However, I do recall seeing a mod which allows 5 sections on the bar, but I can't remember where it was, I'll have a look and get back to you

You have 2.0.5b or 2.0.6 Home launcher.
It's a customized launcher but it's very, very good.
And you can choose number of columns and rows as you like.
Try it - it's very good...

+1 for a mod like this
+1 for a mod like this! Been using Nova Launcher on my previous phones but I like the stock one on this phone and would like to keep using those widgets that only work in the Sony launcher. A 5x4 layout would work much better for certain widgets I use so I hope someone is able to mod this! :good:

+1 on this for the mod. But the new Nova Beta from today looks great too. Icon size to 110% and The Text Size to Normal instead of Condensed the phone is looking gorgious.

Hey guys,
Since a couple of us are looking for this mod, I decided to give it a go myself. I found this post to help - although it's for the Touchwiz launchers, I figured it could be adapted to ours as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=27433971
I found similar settings in our home.apk and modified them, however upon uploading the modified home.apk, nothing changed. I tried making several edits, none of which actually changed something visible on the screen. I went as far as completely erasing the home.apk from the phone - still it was somehow being used as the default launcher, which has me believing that another file is used as the launcher. I used system\app\home.apk. Maybe someone with some more knowledge can shed some light on this so we can get this mod going?

Thread not found error, please can you link it again so I can have a look at how it is done. Or could you tell us which settings needed changing
Also, was it this version of the home.apk you used or an older one.

Hey gregbradley,
Just finished testing. The modified Home.apk is based on the pre-installed V6.0.2A.0.13 of the apk. I've created a 5x4 version for 6.1.A.0.5 as well - attached below. Small install instruction - if you haven't installed 6.1.A.0.5 yet, do so first. Copy this file into data\app. It's not needed to have the modified Home.apk installed, if you already have though, you can simply install the update and copy this file into the right place for it to work.
Modification for both versions are the same: decompile, inside res\values-sw360dp\ you'll find 3 files, 2 which need editing:
- integers.xml needs 2 be modified to include the following code:
<integer name="desktop_grid_columns">4</integer>
<integer name="desktop_grid_rows">5</integer>

Click to collapse
- dimens.xml has the following line, value changed from 113.0 to 90:
<dimen name="desktop_cell_height_port">90dip</dimen>

That's all that I changed so far. Tons of different values that can be changed as well but since I'm at work I have limited time to mess with that at the moment.
Many thanks, but it doesn't look good in landscape mode. Maybe something needs working on there...
Do you have a stock version of that file, like a noob I didn't make a copy of the stock one..thanks
EDIT Don't worry, I restored the data partition of a backup
But it might be good to upload a stock version for those that use the landscape layout and want to go back..

Ohhh sorry I did not touch landscape mode, takes a few minutes to fix so I'll have a corrected version up in a bit (just let me wolf down this fried rice first ).
One of the reasons why I haven't touched landscape is because I don't use it myself. In fact, I'm not even sure how to enable that as mine locks in portrait mode on the homescreen.

you can use xposed additions module to enable "Global user rotation" which allows all apps to rotate, Then when I use my power jacket or dock I get a rotated homescreen.

Got the phone in landscape mode now. Question though - the reason I never use my homescreen in landscape is because it messes up the dimensions of the screen. Either you keep the 5x4 layout, get very cramped/stretched icons/widgets, or you change it to 4x5 which is much more logic, but then your apps/ widgets will end up getting all messed up with the bottom row being removed. Since you use your phone in landscape, which of the 2 has your preference..?

In the screenshot you've got it as a 4x4 landscape grid. Would you prefer that over a 4x5 one? Right now I've got a working 4x5 one, let me know which one you like better.

Thought so so I was already working on it - try this one.
That has the same problem.
But also when you move back to portrait after being in landscape everything is screwed up.
EDIT
Don't worry about it tonight, I am watching football now anyway, but its something to look at in the future..
