[Q] HTC Media Link - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will the One work with the Media link?
Haven't seen any reports of the "3 finger swipe" on this phone.

Yes it will. Amazon UK is also giving away free media link HD with pre orders

Also curious about this. The official specs don't mention anything about it supporting the HTC Media Link, just "DLNA" which is not the same.

HTC Netherlands is giving away HD link with pre-orders so if it doesn't work there's gonna be a lot of surprised punters .. hehehehe
I think we can safely assume it does work

so long as it isnt the wifi only version, I would say go for it.
make sure it isnt model P1010.It has inferior hardware compared to the original
AT&T dumped a bunch of refurbs on their site on Friday for $199.99 with no contract. I think if you're in the US you'll see a bunch of them pop up on Ebay shortly. First reviews of the received models are they look like they're brand new.
I would also consider things like exchange and warranty. Maybe it's worth the extra coin to you to know that if you have any issues with it you can exchange it or get it serviced under warranty?
With Gingerbread out now i would say yes get one as long as it is the GSM version and not a wifi version.

Well I finally jumped on it. Its the cdma version from sprint. Why does that really matter, custom roms and such? I'm using wifi only. I love this thing.

Because with the gingerbread rom browsing the web is way faster. It's another level. Not frustrating anymore when there are many flash animations. There's no lag at all with flash videos even in 720p.

I jumped ahead and bought it for $250 + taxes. It is great but I'm contemplating whether to return it or not. It's the 3G at&t edition. My concern is that its not dual core and at&t and t-mob are just dumping these out to make the 10.1 model ready for release. I have no issues with its performance but its just that it's not dual core and I forsee lag in upcoming applications. Anyone has any thoughts on this?

Is it still worth getting?

Hi i used to own a galaxy tab i had it for a few days with o2 UK sim locked and i found it was very slow and browser wasnt good apps wouldnt display full screen. With the new gingerbread update now out how is this now and is it worth it. I am about to recieve a little work bonus and im tempted to buy a tab again as im using my phone for internet.

I have none of the problems that you described, so I'd obviously say it's worth it. But no-one can tell you whether you should or shouldn't get it. Maybe shop round a bit and check out the alternatives first.
like john mentioned nobody can tell you to buy it or no
but my advice is , if you planning to buy it again , buy it GSM , unlocked to get the best out of it .
in the other side i will recommand you to buy it again as its the best tab 7inch in the market
I'm new to android,a complete noob..my 1st android and I choose galaxy tab p1000..never regret I bought it at the 1st place..I prefer it much more than the iphone4 I gave to my wife..

Like John and k0sh, I can't tell you what to buy, but having come from froyo to gingerbread (and now running overcome 3.0) made me feel like I had a new tab. More stable and responsive.
The browser issue you refer may have to do with the agent (android vs desktop). You can solve it by using a browser like dolphin hd. I believe that, on overcome, you can browse as desktop on stock browser.
Cheers

Bump! Can I do this? =/

Did you already purchase SGT 7?
If not, maybe you can consider 8.9 also. Reason for me to own SGT 7 is only because it have phone ability and big screen for browse internet and portable. I'm sure 8.9 version also have phone ability but not sure either it is portable
If you got it already, id say go and get the htc flyer

Amazon MP3

Bit of a weird request. I need someone who lives in the US or UK and has access to the Amazon MP3 store to buy an Amazon Exclusive album for me. I'm an unfortunate Canadian who is constantly envying our friends to the south with their Hulu and Pandora and Spotify and Google Voice and different Netflix...
Any takers? I'll give you $5 USD + the cost of the music, of course.
Alternatively, any way to get the Amazon MP3 app / Amazon App store in Canada?
Tell me what album and I'll see what I can do

wow almost a year later... Somehow must have missed the thread reply notification.
Anyway, if you're still willing, I'm looking for the Up in the air soundtrack:

Thanks for the APK, but it force closes on my devices...
Also I think I'll need more than just access to the MP3 store, they seem to need a credit card with a US billing address.
OK, figured out a way to get it.
Go to Amazon.com, buy myself a gift card using my Canadian credit card.
Via a US-based proxy: Create a new amazon account, redeem credit card and buy music.
Thanks all for the replies though!

Dev Edition ROM options?

I am seriously considering purchasing the dev. edition (for the 64GBs) , but never having used a device that is not carrier specific, I'm uncertain what my options would be regarding flashable ROMs. If I, as an example, got a t-mobile SIM and went month to month on their network, would I then be limited to ROMs written for the tmo HTC One? Or are the options in this specific forum the ones I should be choosing from?
I hope I've expressed my quandary clearly, and that it's not too naive - believe me, I searched.

i think your good for trickdroid rom
You'll be able to use any of the ROMs in this section.
You should also be fine to flash ROMs from the other HTC One forums (except Sprint) but the ROMs in the other forums are just copies from ROMs in this section anyway.
Thank you, Mr. Carter.

Turning the HTC one M7 into windows mobile

Just for fun I sort of want to try to get my htc one as similar to windows phone as possible. I've always been intrigued by their tile interface.
So right now I'm using the launcher 8 free to Simulate it a bit after a quick search in the Google play store. But how can I take this further?
I know I could just buy an M8 with wondows but i want to return to android. Options. That's the beauty of android.
I did a ton of googling and searching this site but couldn't find a comprehensive guide or posting of someone else who did it.
Has anyone? Is there a more detailed post regarding it? I want to do more than just run a launcher. Are there windows mobile Roms to flash?
Sent from my HTC One Dev Edition using XDA Free mobile app
I'd like to do the same to my M8. Just for curiosity sake. Can it be done? Yes?, maybe?, heck no?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
No, not for the m7, already discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2749473
For the M8 , ask in the M8 forum.
