I will help out where I can, but I personally own a Nexus device, so I don't have to port . Although, I do have experience in porting, compiling, building, and troubleshooting Android ROMs.

It's Up!
The porting guide has now been posted on the above link!

Its look's chrooted im right ?

Re: [DEV ONLY] Porting to Your Device
Far as I can tell. The Ubuntu file system is running in a container on top of a very basic android. Clever way to do it.

Re: [DEV ONLY] Porting to Your Device
It's actually very easy to port this to just about any device that has CM 10.1. In fact, you don't even need to worry about Dalvik because there is none .

You will need the Ubuntu sources, CM 10.1 source for your device, proprietary blobs and vendor files, and to read the guide .
I want to attempt a Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) or Galaxy S3 port (SGH-I747 & GT-I9300 I believe might be the unlocked model number), but I'd need testers because as I've sold all of my devices but my Galaxy Nexus.
If anyone is interested, please feel free to PM me.

Cyanogenmod is the development of AOSP Android rather than some 'rom cooking'. If you're a beginner then wait for CM9 to drop. I'm sure there will be lots of 'kanged' versions before you know it .

Has development stopped for 8.9?

Haven't seen any new updates now for a few weeks.
Just curious, no urgency or drama.

Samsung's too busy lately...now more than ever if you've been following the news.
Sent from my GT-P7310.
Development slowed down due to the ported ICS ROMs by Kallt_Kafe and the tweaked version by Safariking. People are kind of happy with their tabs performance for the moment.
Grab the AOSP JB release but SafariKing, build 10 is super smooth IMO I had a few issues with build 11 (same as build 10 just with nexus Ui). Give them a try, my tablet is running great and am very happy with SafariK's work.
Development hasn't stopped... It's just getting started.... :>)

Releasing A New Series Of rom's called JellyICSRom Soon to the 8.9 and 10.1
This rom is now availble on the Note 10.1
The goal for that rom is to make the Stock Samsung ICS to Jelly Bean so that you have the Stock Samsung and Jelly Bean Feeling In one!
Greetings Safariking!

[DEV] EGL binary

just finally got dirvere ..
Hello,
To kick off this new year, I'd like to present an EGL binary from a test build along with a patch to frameworks base.
[-LINK-]
gralloc.default.so
libGLES_hgl.so
[-LINK-]
Some info on the patch:
Switch Looper to use poll() instead of epoll().
The TLS changes are necessary to work with the open sourced kernel.
See following for more info: [-LINK-]
EGL_ANDROID_swap_rectangle has been commented out as it's not supported.
Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the test binary.
Happy New Year and Regards,
David

I think he quoted this post from madteam forums:
http://madteam.co/forum/general-77/(dev's)(broadcom)-open-dialogue-with-broadcom/msg76394/#msg76394
Basically, broadcom has released an early version of the drivers we were waiting for to develop great ROM's such as Cyanogen
Now we just have to wait.

Why?
It's the same GPU so why should we need them compiled for this phone ?
Can't we just port the files, CM7.2 is also ported from the Galaxy Y ?
Can't you compile them ? You are a developer, aren't you ?
yes .. the driver is compatibility for 5830i ..

It's been a while since I saw a post like yours. You can't just ask for something like that, not even if you ask politely. It is very hard to do what you asked, it has been discussed before. So, before opening a new topic, think a little and read a LOT, it will bring good to all of us. Live long and prosper.

Adding a new device:
If you're a maintainer and would like to add a device to be officially supported (ie. go into nightlies), please follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483720
Other builds:
If you have other unofficial builds, please PM them to me. Keep in mind that while I'm not against releasing builds yourself, I'd rather have the official ones in here until nightlies
Testing the rom on my Mako. Fast and smooth, although Active Display seems to work randomly: some Whatsapp's notification showed, and some others didn't. And notification staying on screen time is very short, couple of seconds.
EDIT:
Bugs reported to Jira.omnirom.org.
In general terms, great rom, and great job. U guys rock. Thanks 4 everything
