Is this correct? March 15 for US launch? (link) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

read this today:
"The One by HTC will be sold from 3 major US carriers: T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint. This means that Verizon has been left out as it will remain with the 2012 HTC flagship device, the Droid DNA. HTC One will be available starting with 15th of March 2013 and its pricing shouldn’t go over $600. This price tag will only apply to the US market, as for others you can expect this to be very different."
http://www.android.gs/htc-one-price-at-att-sprint-and-t-mobile/
Is this true? I was under the impression that the carriers were going to announce their own release dates? and when was general pricing confirmed?

Well the international launch is march 15. US carriers will be around the same launch frame in march

It would be sweet if it did launch everywhere at once, but not even Samsung could pull that off with the SGS3. I still expect the US launch to be at least a month or so after the International launch.

If those US carriers stop loading their stupid bloatware, they can easily make the same launch date.
HTC, stop letting carriers load their **** onto your nice phone!

I've only heard April 20th.
I really wonder how much they will charge US off contract. I am currently on contract with them and i will be upgrading as soon as the phone comes out and would like to know just how much i will have to put out upfront.

Im with you on that.. Im hoping that with the OPTIMUS 3D coming out real soon it will help the 2X stay at a reasonable price.. I bought the HD2 off contract for $449.. I wouldnt spend more than that for this phone..
I believe this phone off contract will probably be around $500.
The way i look at it, i will just renew my contract with tmobile and NOT pay the full price and hopefully if AT&T buys them then i can cancel my contract and hopefully NOT pay and penalty
where did u hear apr 6?
If it is April 6th, great. If not, I may wait for the HTC Pyramid or the SGS2.
Ive only heard Apr 20! I want to know where he heard April 6th!! If so that'd be great

My boss was having problems with one if his phones. The CSR offered him an upgrade and said wait until the 6th. She said there are 3 phone going to be released that day and the g2x is one of them. I read there is a nokia to be released that day, maybe the other is the sidekick?
The second source was someone else who also was told by a CSR rep.
I doubt we see this phone on 4/6. If we do then somebody in T Mobile USA marketing dropped the ball.

The Nokia Astound was announced for April 6th. The CSR is confused about the g2x. No way it would come out in a week when there has been no advertising, nor a price.

She did say 3 phones were going to be released on the same day.
Astound, Sidekick and G2X? Would they even release 2 high end phones on the same day?
April 6 would be great..Sidekick and G2x would make a big sales date!
hey guys i heard april 20th from pocketnow.com
Isnt april 6 next week already? And still no major ads and advertisements and price? So i doubt it. But i wish t-mo would release it early.
that CSR is wrong as of right now the G2X is set for April 20th check out Tmonews. On April 20th 3 things are set to come out as of right now. The Sidekick 4G, G2X, and the G-Slate. I am a RSA and T-Mobile would of let the stores known if it was April 6th. We already have the new Nokia phone at my store for April 6th. So that CSR must of been thinking about the 20th when he was telling you what he told u.
I heard the phones were shown off by lg reps in the store, is this true?

I would not bank on that with this device, as it will work on AT&T - no out here.
Other devices, like MT4G will no work on #G/Hspa+ if they drop TMo bands - that would be a contract out.
I heard it'll be from $450-500

[Q] Due for upgrade

Hey guys,
I'm set for an upgrade, I'm looking for suggestions on what to get. Should I get something now or wait little while for something good that's coming out?
I hear people chattering about the Nexus Prime and SGS II. Personally, I'm on the Evo 3D, and love it. The only problem with the new 3D's is the hboot. Can't fully get s off.
Motorola Photon!
my upgrade is in december. im gonna see if i can get sprint to give me the early ok so i can get somethin on black friday..... hopefully the 3vo for nothing.
tl;dr - I'm not upgrading anytime soon because of LoS issues on the SG2E4GT and WiMAX is on the way out.
I've been off-contract since August. I was all set to get the SG2E4GT until the LoS issues became so prevalent, and I did some research into how slow Samsung has been to issue updates/fixes for their other Android phones (at least on Sprint, anyway). This has also kind of made me a bit cautious regarding the Galaxy Nexus since it too is a Samsung device.
Granted, the above issues may become moot once CM7 is up and running on these phones, but then there's also the problem of Sprint converting their 4G network to LTE over the next 1 to 2 years. Since I live in an area with zero WiMAX coverage (Metro Detroit), I'm reluctant to get a new phone right as WiMAX is going away, especially since I'm not paying the magical $10 'premium data' fee, and CM7.1 is running like a champ on my old Hero.
sleepy
I'm in the same boat -- why buy a wimax phone (GS2) when lte is coming to Milwaukee next year? Does the photon support LTE? Maybe the Nexus will. Any other lte-ready phones from sprint?

I could certainly be wrong, but I don't think any of their current phones support LTE.
Also, I read this article today from phandroid.com:
If you’re a Sprint customer, you may have found yourself recently looking for new reasons to stick with the carrier after their “Season of Change” removed a lot of customer perks. As most of you have already heard, ‘Ol Yeller is getting their new LTE network set up for next year but what you may not have known is the carrier is also planning on rolling out an LTE-Advanced network for the first half of 2013, with voice over LTE (VoLTE) devices scheduled in the first quarter of that year. Sprint’s VP of network and development Iyad Tarazi spilled the beans while speaking during a breakfast meeting at the 4G World conference.
Mr. Tarazi also mentioned that 12 LTE devices are currently scheduled for 2012 with Sprint planning on covering between 250 – 277 million people with blazing fast LTE by the end of 2013. How’s that for sticking with #3?
If you’re curious about the fate of your currently equipped 4G WiMax devices, Sprint’s agreement with Clearwire means you will be covered for at least the next few years. That’s about 60 in smartphone years. With this new development are any Sprint customers going to wait it out? Or have you already been seduced by the blazing fast data of other carriers?

So I agree...why lock in to a WiMAX phone now (unless you get great WiMAX coverage in your area) when LTE is in the pipeline?

What! I thought sprint is getting the Galaxy Note too?

So sprint didn't get the contract?

The rumor is that it would be announced alongside the new nexus...ces officially starts tomorrow i believe.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
I would very much doubt it. Because carriers have to redevelop phones with CDMA radios for US carriers, and those phones are usable in so few markets, it is much more expensive per unit to build and market a CDMA device than to create a GSM variant and allow customers all over the world to buy it and pop in a SIM. I'm actually surprised AT&T and Samsung bothered to develop an AT&T version of the note when the global version seems to be working so well. I guess kudos to AT&T for giving people a subsidized version with a US warranty.
That said, I would love the Note on Sprint, whether it's WiMax or eventually LTE. If they released it I would wait in line to get one.
AT&T could have gotten an exclusive for the initial release of the Note. So after it's released on AT&T we can hopefully expect it on Sprint. OR Sprint wanted CES to be about LTE and The Note will end up being Wimax...who knows
It wasn't even confirmed, it was a wild rumor. That said, it may appear sometime down the line.

HTC One in Canada

On HTC's website, it says the HTC one is available at Rogers and Telus. Two of the "big three" here, excluding Bell. All of them are flipping horrible providers, just so we're clear on that, but since I don't want to deal with cancelling a contract, can anyone confirm that Bell is getting it? And does ANYONE know, even approximately, WHEN Canada will be getting it? I've searched everywhere, every day and I can't find a straight answer. I know it was announced that Bell would get it, but with all this changing of confirmed information, possible delays, and the general poor service of Bell, I'm starting to think that I may have to wait until my contract is up in September before I can shop for a new phone!
I think bell would be getting it since it sold the One X. I'm currently with Virgin Mobile right now and I bought the phone straight out from HTC. If you want the phone soon buy it over seas or wait till September. This is definitely not a cheap phone.

telus website clearly state that the phone will be available soon
You won't get any answers from Bell until their release date is publicly and officially announced unless you have a buddy who is an upper tier exec there. But wearing my guessing hat, I'd say you don't have to worry. Bell's android phone lineup have always been Samsung, Motorola, and HTC for the last 2 years, and since there's no different versions of the ONE this year, that's what they'll get. Unlike last year's BS where Rogers got the flagship One-x and Bell a-holes picked up the entry level POS One-V welfare phone. Bell hates variety. They only ever sell top end iPhones, Samsung androids, and Blackberries. Good luck wanting a Samsung competitor for android from them, they won't carry it. So count yourself lucky HTC only has one version for the Bell jackwads to sell.
Thanks very much guys. I always wondered why Bell's phone lineup was so small... At least they carry GOOD phones! Mostly...
I think it is now available for pre-orders at Rogers playfuldroid.com/htc-one-is-now-available-for-pre-orders-from-rogers

Well that is why they have the virgin brand is for cheaper phones....
As telus will carry the HTC One, can it be used on koodo? I'm just moving back to Canada and not too familiar with the carriers but i noticed koodo has one of the cheapest yet good plans and they are on the telus network if i am not mistaken? So if i buy the phone from telus, can i use it with a koodo sim and have no issues with reception/download/coverage?
Thanks

Yes Koodo is owned by Telus. Although I would highly recommend never using Koodo/Telus. I absolutely HATE them and I say they are the worst cellular provider. Go with virgin Canada because if you dont buy the phone from them they give you 10% off their plans and they have the best Data plans.

Estimated ETA for Play Store or T-Mobile?

Is there any estimated or leaked dates for when the X will be showing up for T-Mobile or the Play store? Or what the differences in software/price may be?
No one knows for sure yet.
Probably around the same time the carriers start selling it, so probably end of this month, early September.
As for price, again no one knows, one would hope it's around N4 prices.

If the Moto X is about equal to the N4's price, I would order it. If it's more than $500 full retail price, I would wait and buy it from swappa.com

All black and white will be available for Tmo on Aug 23. $199 on contract, but off contract pricing still unknown. Motomaker for Tmo in November.
Play store version sometime before the end of the year. No clear details on timing or pricing, except that it could be around $350-$400 range.

my intention is to order a custom designed at full price. what and see what happens when a GPE/Dev Edition comes out...
I'm somehow hoping the GPE edition is like N4 pricing, I'll gladly get it if it is, otherwise, Nexus 5 it is.
