If you want to find out which suits you best then try both platforms.
There is no "better" one.

Windows Phone 7 OS

Is there a possibility to run Windows Phone 7 OS on your Nexus One?
no! this shouldn't be in development section!
Asked the same today, but it belongs in Q&A anyways
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805174
Theoretically will be posible if the Windows Phone 7 device has the same specs that
our Nexus, perhaps HTC Mozart?.
Here are the ROM of the Mozart if someone with skills want to try (I published in
the other thread too).

Good luck!
+1, but wrong section

I highly doubt you'll find a nexus dev that would dare port WP7. This is an android forum lol.
But, this is xda, so I guess anything is possible
Hopefully is it possible!
the day will come true
I'd say that would be the cheapest way to tryout WP7.
Wouldn't it be considered piracy then?
Would like to see this as well.
Blasphemy!
Got to love that everyone here's "knocking it before they've even tried it".
How about android on wp 7 phone? I like to see if this is possible. I want the new HTC sourround. Nice new hardware upgrade. I often use my phone as stereo.

Sadly, the hardware is the same, except for the speaker. Still want though.

iOS 4 on the SGS?

Could anybody port iOS 4 to the ours SGS? They both have similar hardware

Porting requires access to sources. Don't expect a positive answer on this thread
Similar hardware? I hope your having a joke, they are very, very different. iOS is a closed source operating system with tight security, even if you had the same hardware it would be very difficult to get it to boot.
Why would you want iOS 4 on an SGS? Not only are they are far from compatible, but the thought of iOS on an Android makes me sick. What improvements does iOS have over Android 2.2.1?
While we're porting obsolete and generally useless software, maybe we can port Donut and Cupcake.

Next time, please post intelligent questions in this forum.
If you want iOS, go buy an iphone. No one will port it in an android phone but android is being ported to an iphone which just shows how superior android is.

Oh god please no!!! I don't want a handicapped OS for my phone.
Hm. Why do you feel the need to ask if it is possible to delimb a horse and replace its legs with a bowl of nasty tasting tomatoe soup?
If you want iOS garbage then go buy an iphone4
Why do much bull**** and hate in here? Why all these elitism? We hate apple users because they believe Apple is always superior, but as I see it you guys are not so different here. If someone wants to know if ios can be ported over, it's well WITHIN his Rights to do so. No os is perfect. There are things that ios is better at.
I feel ashamed to post in the same forum as you guys.

I don't get the strong views either, I have both, what's the problem?
In response to OP I think you already have an answer

My sentiments exactly, it gets like a bear pit in here most days, it's bad enough having to mind a toddler at home all day without having to trawl through countless "keyboard warriors" taking virtual lumps out of each other.

Similar only in the crudest of senses. The SGS has a vastly superior CPU.
Regardless of this, the reason WHY you see Android being ported to all sorts of things it was never designed for (netbooks, Iphone3gs, HTC HD2, etc...) is because Android is an open platform with available source.
The reason why you do not see things like IOS or Windows Mobile being ported, is because both are closed platforms with no source.
Whether it'd be desirable to tinker with IOS on different hardware is less an issue than whether it's actually possible. Though nothing is intrinsically impossible, I wouldn't go around holding my breath on this one.

SGS has basicly the same CPU/GPU as the Iphone4 did you know? Its just clocked at 800mhz and uses GX 545 gpu while we have 550 (I think I got the numbers right) Also Samsung builds the CPU's for Apple while LG makes the screens. Anyways no biggy. On a dif topic I like how they are porting over Android to Iphone4 now (Iphone 3G/no 3GS). IF someone somehow manages to port over ios to SGS it would be shut down in a micron by Apples lawyers

Oh please don't say tight. Android are very similar in Security, maybe a bit better. I read a analysis about this yesterday on heise security. Everything big with a locked bootloader, is a meal for hackers like fail0verflow.
To the Questioner. I hope you are joking. Not only the OS is diffrent based additionally the hardware is a little better. It's not the same SOC. Maybe you should by iPhone (personified) and live in ignorance what's happening in your OS.
So don't bother, the most people do that.

[Q]can i9000 run symbian^3 or IOS 4? dualboot or something ...

[Q]can i9000 run symbian^3 or IOS 4?
by dualboot or something ...
No, but why do you want Symian when you can have Android??
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
i moved from symbian to android and i found symbian more comfortable ...and it would be fun to port symbian ^3 to our device ...

porting something less popular, and less useful, and less customisable is fun ??
Dual boot is possible, But extremely difficult. It has not been done successfully YET... and by that i mean, its not been done to the point where it is useable.
Maybe in future it could be an option, But with sooo many SGS 1 users upgrading to the SGS 2 .... i dont think the DEV will want to spend soo much time on a device that wont be as popular in 6 months time
Haha someone wants to use symbian and currently has android that's new also ios also suvks in front of android! Android is hands down the best is in the race and pls never compare something like symbian to android!

Sure it can be done; if Nokia and Apple choose to cooperate with Samsung.
Will it be done? Answer is: 99.9% chance it will not be done.
A much more valid question if the SGS 1 will receive another updated beyond 2.3.x
Even that cannot be answered yet.
While you are at it why not port Psion to the i9000 as well.
I love me some ASCII art!
LOL guys i know that android os is much better than both ios 4/5 and symbian^3 belle
but i was curious about dualboot option in our device and some say that its possible but the developers wont spend time on our device because they all gonna upgrade to sgs2
but when it will happend (that dual boot thing) cause every time there will be new phones and new firmwares so at some point the devs most try the dualboot on our or sgs2 device why not if its possible ??

[Q] Is IOS more powerful than Android?

i always think that Android is more powerful because it is open platform and so you can change source code and create custom rom while IOS you can't change source code and you can't modify OS. So even if you jailbreak the iPhone, there's not much you can do except unlock a few forbidden features and modify some playlists.
But then in another forum, i read this comment:
"Android will never be as powerful as Unix! iOS just scratches the surface of unix until root access allows full control. Android is just several java classes compiled into what you believe is an OS. Android will never be more than glorified embedded software....which is why it is buggy as Hell!"
I always think Android can do things IOS can't via custom ROMS, mods, but his comment suggests otherwise. I am a tech noob, can the Masters out there help me a bit? Thanks
No.
Sent from my GT-N7000
A)this has nothing to do with the note so shouldnt be here
B)considering android is a linux based os and linux is based unix i really dont see where the quote is coming from. And without defining what you mean by powerful no one can help
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
iOS merely seems more powerful and stable simply because it is like custom software tailored to custom hardware. It is designed to work with specific internal hardware. Android, on the other hand, has to work with a myriad of generic devices and thus cannot be as optimized as Ios. That is why android devices must have higher specs and be more powerful than the iphone in order to compete with the efficiency of apple's os (brute force vs efficiency).

Its never been and it will never be.
And Its not the right forum to asking for the comparision. I think. Ask in Android or IOS forums. They will answer your questions in better way.

I feel like ios is stable than android
But coming to features, android is far better than ios
Android is totally customizable
I feel android is stable enough for my(every android user) use and so why ios??

[Q\D] Discusion About others OS in Nexus 6

I love xda and i've been member from along time.
I had several phones , and I had flash all of them xD
But now i'm stuck with Nexus 6
Ok I have MultiRom etc...
I think my question is very simple.
There is any package for Install Ubunto 13.04 to install on my nexus 6 like nexus 7?
Ubunto touch....what happens? no development here?
Tizen, Firefox OS, what happen to line Nexus ?
the nexus 4\5\7\10 are going fine but nexus 6 have lack of development.....it this phone a floap?
Bump?
theres absolutely no lack of development on the n6. what there is is lack of development to what interests you. thats different than a lack of development, lol. me personally, i love aosp android, and dont need nor want another os.
i wish someone would bring sailfish os to nexus 6.
I'm just waiting on a Windows 95 port. Fingers crossed.
personally, I love aosp too.
but the whole nexus line accustomed users to have more than just only ASOP
Thats why I saw the lack of development
