[Q] Replacable battery? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am tempted to pre-order the HTC One but I first want to know if the battery in the HTC One is replaceable? Also, is there a SD-slot??

no and no

I would say yes, the battery will be replaceable, same as the One X, but you will have to remove the screen to do so, with the right tools it is fairly easily achievable on the X.
As above, no SD slot.

Is there hope for a future Droid with LTE, Global, 4" screen and removable battery?
Droid 3 is nearly everything I want except for: no 4G, 512mb, locked bootloader.
I was very disappointed learning the Droid 4 had no removable battery and wasn't a global phone.
It seems those of us who value physical keyboards are getting an ever-dwindling selection of phones to choose from.
Droid 4 is a global phone, but VZ isn't going to release a radio firmware update to unlock the global features yet. Though the battery isn't claimed to be user replaceable, but it actually is with some simple steps.

Yes. It's called the Samsung Stratosphere. Sure the specs are dated and the memory is low, but it has everything else you ask for.
I think there is a good possibility that you will continue to see more phones with physical keyboards and increasingly better specs in the near future. There must still a big enough market demand for this kind of phone, Motorola didn't even wait 6 months between the D3 and the D4. You will probably see a few more slide-out QWERTY phones before the end of this year. Better screens and LTE.... definetly, global and removable battery.... maybe, unlocked bootloader..... not if it is made by Motorola!

It's not global, though.
I think that removable batteries will be more rare in high-end devices. People want thinner phones with more battery capacity, and it's hard to be both with a removable battery pack. And the success of iPods, iPhones, iPads, Kindles, etc., etc., show that more than enough people don't care if the battery cannot be removed.
See, that's the thing, do people actually want thinner devices, or are they buying them because that's all there is to buy?
As it is, I deliberately went with my Droid 3 instead of the Stratosphere and Bionic when I got my phone because it had a hardware keyboard and (I thought) comparable specs. My battery life is bad, but no worse than every other Android phone I've ever owned, or smartphone for that matter (no Blackberries, those aren't smartphones, they're webapps).
Recently I've considered buying a 3500mA battery with a huge, ugly thick battery door just so my phone might have multiple day battery life. And right now, the competition is so dismal and battery life is so universally bad among smartphones on all platforms that the first company to come out with a smartphone with dumbphone battery life should make a killing.
LaTropa64, the way I understand it the 4 will technically work globally after the radio update (like eXecuter.bin said) simply because Verizon LTE hardware takes a sim card and has some weird interoperability with GSM networks, which is what the rest of the world uses. Myself, I don't give a crap because I'm not roaming internationally any time soon, nor is anyone I know. To me the non-removeable battery is a way bigger problem..
..but should it be? Would people even care about the battery if it had ENOUGH battery life? I used to use a Samsung i737 Winmo PDA phone that shipped with both an extended & standard batteries, and I had to swap to get through a single day. That was the most annoying thing about that phone to me, was having to stop, pull the battery, and give it the full 5 minutes to reboot afterwards, every single day. If it came down to it, just because of those experiences, I would always buy a phone with a large-enough non-removeable battery over one with multiples.
EDIT: Notice I said "WITH DUMPHONE BATTERY LIFE" above. That's really the key; to me, the Droid Razr Maxx with its "You can make it through 1.2 days!" battery life isn't nearly good enough, they're about 4 days short. My work cell phone sneers quietly as it's on 24/7 for five full days without needing a charge...

I want to buy HTC One

Hey! I want to buy an HTC One, cause i like the design and the materials. Can you tell me how it is the case in time? Is scratching easy (silver one)?
In my calculations come Nexus 5 and LG G2 too. What do you suggest?

Take any of those.
One is great, but you will slap case on it anyways /No offense/
I took silver one, because i wanted to go caseless, and according to forums, silver was less prone to scratch than coloured. Actually, it scratches in same manner, but as long as alluminium is naturally silver, you won't notice silver scratch on silver phone, right ?
But i ended up putting case on it anyways. Lens is bit uneven. On one side the lens is almost flush with back of phone. I am too affraid that it will scratch and ruin great UltraPixel experience.
But I do like my One the most. If i had opportunity to choose again betwwen Nexus 5, G2 and Htc1, i would take Htc One again.

Thank you for your answer! If i buy One, i will not use a case. Is sad to cover the beauty of the HTC One with a case The design is the reason that i added HTC One in "fight" with Nexus 5 and LG G2, not the hardware. If i chose according to hardware, HTC One will not be in this unfair fight *No offense*
Stay strong, don't put any case on it !
If you want to go caseless, htc one is all the way ! Feeling of cold allumium is great.
As for the scratch. Don't worry about them. Phone is made to be used, not protected.
There's absolutely no reason to protect it and put on shelf after 2 years in pristine condition. Scratches are like scars. Every has it own story.
As for the android stability, and smoothness -> i see no slowdowns after 2-3 months at all.
Anyway, it's pretty obvious, that most of users in One forum will advise you to buy One.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.

"Scratches are like scars. Every has it own story." - hahahah, good one ).
Do you have root/custom rom/kernel? How is the HTC One with roms development? The stock rom from HTC One Google Edition is working on normal edition?
Battery? How is it?

Out of 3 android phones I've had/got (Sony Xperia Z Ultra - HTC One - and Samsung Note 1) HTC ONE has the bigger and better development. There is alot to choose from. I've not got one scratch on my HTC one I've had it for about 4 months. After HTC replaced my old One. I find battery very good using ARHD. But I would loovvee a HTC One Max....

As far as i know, the development is ok. It's HTC's current flagship and there are plenty of roms out there including latest CyanogenMod.
However i am using Stock rom. It fits my needs just great.
Only problem I had with my phone - i had to debrand (change CID) of my phone, because i received T-Mobile Germany branded device from eshop in Slovakia, and i wasn't receiving any ota's...
So i had to HTC dev unlock, S-OFF, change CID and back to stock. Now ota's are coming alright.
The GPE and Sense editions are exactly same hardware. Only difference is software. So roms are interchangeable. If you install custom recovery, you just flash zip, that some dev has to create from ota.
If you want to be stock, it's bit harder, but not impossible. Basically simmilar than my problem. You change CID of phone and fool him to think "Hey I'm GPE phone"...
Battery - approximately 1,5 days normal use. 2 days on light usage, 1 day on harder usage.
My normal usage is - data ON 09:00 - 23:00, wifi on when in office / at home, bluetooth at car 1 hour a day, autosync 1 gmail acc, hangouts, fb messenger, outlook (ms exchange)
Everyone's usage is different, but i could sum up it : Absolutely no problem surviving from morning when i unplug to evening... Even with harder chatting, some games..
GSam battery monitor says:
Battery Life 1d 9.1h (8h 3m active)
Screen On 3h 3m (3h 53m max)

[Q] Htc desire 816 Battery case

Hey guys. I have done some looking and cant seem to find an extended battery case (as in plugs into the micro usb port) Has anyone been able to find one? On stock Rom with powe saving mode on I lose about 10 percent in 35-40 mins of screen on time at low brightness, which is pretty bad. A extra battery would be Extremely welcome! please link below if you are able to find one! ay alternatives?
Thanks in advance,
The_Victorian
Read some reviews and pick one; preferably bigger than 4000 mA.
On second thought, I guess you're looking for those models similar to Iphone battey cases. sorry , No idea where to find one, and I don't think these general power banks are too inconvenient to use

Yeah I was looking for an integrated iPhone-type case. I have a few of the external ones, but they aren't really practical on the go. I did find one case but it was 90$ so that's not a viable option...
Can you link me to that? I might try to get one.
*Edit*: Found it, http://mugen.co/mugen-power-4000mah-protective-battery-case-for-htc-desire-816.html, makes the phone look huge and hideous though

Better battery for nook?

If I were looking to get a battery for my nook, what would I be looking for/where?
You won't be able to find one with substantially more capacity and still have it fit inside. If the existing one still works well, get an external pack, which are very common. If you're looking for a replacement, check places like Hobbyking. You may need to parallel two cells if you can't find a single one that efficiently uses the space. Keep the existing protection board.

Oneplus Hardware Back Mod + Larger battery

Hello there, I am pretty new to this forum so please advise me if there is anything wrong with this thread.
I own a oneplus 3 pretty much since the release date, and I have been very happy with it, except for the not optimal battery life.
Now, as you can take from the heading of this thread, I am thinking about rebleacing the back of my oneplus 3 with a larger one, idealy one that covers up the battery bump, so I can fit in a larger battery. Additionaly I probably will need to transfer the antennas, and do something about the speaker and microphone ports.
I would like to make the back out of aluminum via a cnc service online, but for prototyping a 3D printed solution would probably be sufficient. The other question is, where to find a battery that is larger than that in the oneplus 3s standart battery, but still beeing able to fit it inside the space made availible by the new hull.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this project, especially considering problems, that could occure.
I hope this project is interessting for some of you, and we can make the op3 even more awesome.

Maybe you could get a 3t battery and replace it. It's bigger in capacity, but same in size. Like Jerry did here

That wouldn't work since the battery is different voltage when charged fully. You're gonna have to find a 4.35V (max voltage, I think the nominal voltage is 3.8V) li-ion battery that is the same size in thickness and height but has deeper depth.
Anyways this project sounds like it could have some potential... I'd be really down to see a CNC machines aluminum back cover that can accomodate a larger battery. I would buy one in a heartbeat

Some guys did the swap in the lg nexus 5-they placed inside a lg g2s battery which is 3000mah vs 2300mah! It worked for them,so i think there is a chance for this swap also. Maybe we can also mess around with the kernel to make it work. All of this sounds easier than making new back cover

That's because the Nexus 5 and LG G2 batteries were the same voltage. This has already been tried and at first it didn't charge fully, then OnePlus implemented a safety feature that detects when a OP3T battery is installed and doesn't allow the phone to boot. We could make a kernel that charges to a higher voltage (the opposite of bedalus' BLX mod in his moxie kernel) but it could be dangerous and isn't worth the risk.
Little off topic but any good quality replacement batteries out there I can replace with?
I do love this idea but there's no way to avoid opening your phone, so be very hard to get everyone wanting one.

Well it's super easy to open this phone so it's not that big of a deal.
And check out witrigs.com, they seem to have good quality parts and have a replacement battery for this phone. I took the plunge and bought a new screen since I cracked mine real bad but it hasnt arrived yet, I'll be posting a review on it when it comes.
Actually I do not think, that the voltage would be such a large issue, as the voltage of a lion battery is changing constantly with its charge level, there probably is a voltage regulator of some sort in place anyway. I think that software would be the bigger problem, as phone manufacturers probably don't want you to make there phones better instead of buying their new ones

i personally changed nexus 5 battery with Lg G2 battery, no issue in charging or voltage difference and backup is excellent although When i check with AIDA 64 Battery info showing 2300mah but i know backup is improved and as like 3000mah battery,
and also changed OP3 battery with OP3T No issue at all
