Default music player doesn't allow this. Grab RingDroid from the Play Store.

you could put the mp3 in a "Ringtones" folder, then pick the file from sound in settings.

With ringdroid i can only set it as a notification, can't use it as ringtone.
And tried to copy the file to the Music folder and media/audio folder but i can't see it in my settings

Default music player does let you set the ring tone-
Just "long press" on the track and the option appears:

Is the Smartwatch any good?

Good question, I won my smart watch in a phones4u comp, I thinks it's great but not sure I would feel that way if I paid full Price.
If you set the clock display to always on the battery won't last a day. I have it set to come on when double tapping the screen. Not so handy if your struggling with the shopping!
Other than that it's pretty impressive, being able to quickly glance at notifications saves taking the phone out of your pocket constantly and mp3 control, whilst basic, is a nice touch.
It does however have a detrimental effect on your phones battery and keeps disconnecting from the Z (worked perfect on the S) maybe the next update will sort it.

Cool.
Thanks for answering.
Am I right in thinking it doesn't work as a hands-free kit?

It does not have a speaker so no good as a hands free, You can answer and reject calls but only any real use if your use a blue tooth headset- or as I do a blue tooth car stereo.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Hope you enjoy your XZ.

I've downloaded a music player from play store and the player had the option for it.

Wow my bad. Never even saw that option in the long press menu, then again, I don't long press random things.

To set one of mp3s as a ringtone you don't need to download anything extra. Just go to the sound setting and on the top right hand side of the screen press the Music Symbol and then you'll have access to all your music on your pone.

Revert back to default ringtones folder
GO TO->Settings->Apps->all->Tap on THREE dots & reset apps preferences.
NOW GO TO-.SETTINGS->SOUND->UNDER RINGTONES&VIBRATIONS, TAP->PHONE RINGTONES->TAP SIM1/SIM2->U'LL FIND SOUND PICKER,FILE COMMANDER & SO;SELECT SOUND PICKER TO SELECT XPERIA'S PRELOADED RINGTONES,THAT'S IT!

Things i like to see on the TD2

Hello,
I really like my TD2 and TF3D but i'm missing some things..
I hope someone can make this or maybe it already exists..
- In the contacts tab you have at the right side the alphabet were you can select a letter to search contact, I'm wondering this is possible in the music tab, because when i want to listen to a song that starts with the " w " i need to scroll down allot and that takes some time..
- Scrolling with the zoombar, i have seen a topic about this but there wasn't a working solution
- When you're listening to music with the earplugs you can still use the volume buttons when the devices screen is turned off. It would be really helpful to go to the next song with the " hang up " button and go to the previous song with the " start call " button. Is this possible??
- Open a program by holding the start and/or back button. This does work by holding the " start call " button and the " hang up " button. But not with the start and go back button.
- I can't change my SMS receive sound in a .wav file of 4.21kb. Any solution for this? maybe some config change program
- No top curtain at the home menu, I tried some .cabs that would remove it but this didn't work, there was jus't a white bar. and there was also a white bar in the other tabs.
Thanks and Regards, Bas

Already found and tried that but it doesn't work...
To scroll really quickly through your entire list of music, try using Windows Media Player instead of the TF3D music tab. Just switch off the tab in Settings and the phone will use WMP instead. It's much, much faster than TF3D and displays your album art face on instead of skewed to one side.
As far as skipping tracks is concerned, WMP allows you to assign whatever keys you like to whatever functions you want. Personally I use stereo bluetooth headphones which have built in volume, start/pause and track skip controls.

This bluetooth adapter is what I use myself. Without changing any settings on my TD2 it works perfectly, and it can change volume up / down and change track. Sound quality is far better than what I was expecting, with no hissing or crackling. And cheap as chips.

[Q] Music control buttons in notification bar

Hello.
After rooting my LG Thrill, and freezing/deleting some default applications (such as default music player), these buttons appeared in my notification bar. They look cool, but this is the only thing they do. No reaction on simple touch or long press.
I would really like to remove them or make them work. Any help is welcome.
Thank You, and sorry for my bad english

Its a result of you freezing your music app... it wont go away till you restore it. Or if you want to try your hand at changing the code to remove it from the notification area
Sent from my LG Thrill 4G...
I'm afraid i lack some knowledge to change code. This is my first smartphon and i got it like 2 weeks ago. Thank you though. Will try to restore default music player.
And i would be really thankful if You could get me some tips on how to change that code.
Man... I think the stock music player is just fine and happen to enjoy the controls in the notification area.... why err'body hatin' all the time dizzang.
I'm not hating it, it's just, there are players that can give you more control over your music, with more settings and better sound quality

I'm in the same boat! I just like power amp more. I don't want that installed if I'm never going to use it.. But I don't want the non functional controls taking up screen space either. I was surprised to disable it, remove the app - then see it return.
I've seen some people remove it on lg p990's I think, we could probably do something similar - but it looked complex. If it was as simple as changing a text file...
If u just want to remove it from the notification bar open the music app hit the menu button then click settings and unclick the music player in notification. Hope this helps

if u can fix it good for u or reinstall the room
but for best player is PowerAMP
so cool app that u will hear the music like never befor

Navigation of music player in lock screen

I have a question, I have a Lumina 822 and when I'm listening to music and the screen locks and I unlock it to skip to the next song it either doesn't show the control buttons or they show up and disappear quickly. It is so annoying, I don't know if you guys have experienced this or if it is just a setting some where that I don't know about.
If you can, please help. Thanks.

When you unlock the screen, quickly hit one of the volume buttons (it won't have any effect but the music bar will remain there longer)
Yeah... this is actually something I consider a downgrade from WP7, where the media controls would not vanish before you could use them on the lock screen.

Thanks mcosmin222 but this is annoying while driving it sort of makes it dangerous; wish there was another way like a drive mode option or something. I know that your not supposed to be on the phone while driving anyway but I still want to listen to my music.

Yeah with Win Pho 7 I would wake the phone up right quick and it would be there, no having to hit the volume button.

There is a drive mode, but it requires nfc. Nokia sells a car dock that wirelessly charges and when accessories is installed it will activate the feature, but beyond that I don't think there is an app/voice command that will invoke it.
Yeah, MS changed the way the music player controls behave on the lockscreen. They changed that on Windows Phone 7.8 as well, only 7.5 has the fixed player controls.
There are voice control apps on the Store you can use to control the playing of music if that's your thing. Might be safer when you are driving.
The most popular one being Hey DJ. Activate voice control, say "Hey DJ next track" (or many other commands) and there you go. Very useful.

music control

Im not sure if its a glitch with my Pebble, or a problem with the software in general. Using the stock music player, i am able to correctly use the controls; play/pause, next and previous track. however even though the Pebble is set to use PowerAmp for my music, the display only shows one song and it isnt the song thats currently playing. Nor does it change when i go to different tracks
Anyone else have this issue? any resolutions? I also wouldnt mind a recommendation for a music app to throw on here, the only ones that looked decent are paid
Your music app on your phone isn't broadcasting AVRCP, common issue.
To fix this and get a vastly superior music control watch app - get Music Boss for Pebble.

You don't need to pay money for silly music pebble apps. Go to the bluetooth settings in power amp and toggle metachange intent to ON. That is all.

I would hardly call the best App for Pebble, written by the most responsive and user focused Pebble developer, "silly".

Bluetooth autoplays sound files in car when trying to use google navigation.

Until about a week or so ago when I connected N6 to car system via bluetooth and used google maps, I got just the google nav voice. Now I start hearing media files, even ringtones and movie sound tracks. I have turned off settings for autoplay in Bluetooth settings, and try to turn off in PowerAmp. Problem is if I stop or pause the playing of the sound track in Poweramp then I lose the Nav voice as well. If I pause or stop the track playing in the car system I also lose the nav voice sound. I have flashed nothing at all between the acceptable nav-voice-only behavior and the onset of the automatic media file playing. Only thing that has happened was playstore updates including PowerAmp, and Google Maps. I did a search in this forum but found nothing about this. Driving me more nuts than usual.
Any help would be appreciated .
Seriously? Only 2 of us have this problem? Really need solution as Google navigation is basically useless until this is solved.
I've had the same problem. I haven't found a solution. I think using voice control has something to do with it.

Bump. Really need help, guys.
Do you ever use Google Music in your car?
I don't know if this will be the answer or not, but if you do have it, it's possible some of these files ended up in the queue. Open up Google Music and click the three dots in the upper right. There should be an option in there to 'Clear Queue' or something like that.
Since this seems to be more or less random media files and not actually songs, I don't know if this is the fix or not, but worth giving a shot.

I just started having this problem as well, and I have no audio player app (rely on built in player of ES File exporer). If you pause the song playing, then Navigation voice works. But whenever the voice says something, the audio file it randomly selected advances that amount of time as though it's playing too

Thanks for your response. No, don't even have Google music. I use poweramp but will see if I can clear queue or something. I haven't used it in the car but that's what is playing the sound files. I went into Poweramp while the sounds were playing and paused it and the sounds stopped. But Nav voice never came back.

So strange. Have you tried using nav (walking maybe?) while not in the car? I'm wondering if you could point it to an app problem or possibly bluetooth problem. What about if you use the nav in the car without going through bluetooth?
I'd also try freezing PowerAmp while using Nav and seeing if that works.
Try to eliminate as many variables as possible and see if you can pinpoint exactly what's causing the issue, then maybe we can find out why.
Other ideas would be clearing data from PowerAmp, test, Maps, test, then Google's voice-to-text or whatever the 'voice' app is that produces the turn-by-turn, test and see if you can nail down exactly what app it is.

Thanks. It plays songs as well as ring tones - - - any sound files it can find apparently. If I pause the player, nav voice stops too. Don't know why it suddenly started doing this. I have not had this happen before in my 11 1/2 months of Nexus 6. Same rom /kernel everything since mid August with no problems until last week. May have to go into Titanium and freeze Poweramp. What idiot dreamed up forcing bluetooth autoplay on us? At least Google maps has an option to play voice over bluetooth or not. Oh, well - - the joys of Nexus.
So I Went into Titanium and froze all music player apps. No more autoplay. Tomorrow I'll see if it sticks and whether nav voice plays over bluetooth. Pita to have to do it this way.

Unfortunately I have nothing to freeze, so I still need a fix. Gonna play around with some of the Google apps and see if maybe one of them (or an update) is causing this. Will let you know
UPDATE: OK for me the issue comes up if I use OK GOOGLE to start things off. The audio time counter advances whenever Candace (name given by my wife to the Navigation voice) speaks. Counter then pauses until she speaks again, then pauses, etc.
If I start Navigation without using OK Google commands, audio time counter does nothing when Candace speaks.
So I think it's one of the google apps. I rolled back a number of them to their default version, but that didn't matter. Could be one I didn't try or even another app. Again I have no music players installed. I use the audio player of ES File Explorer as needed.

Yup. Nav voice over bluetooth is fine. Next step is to unfreeze poweramp & see if autoplay comes back. I'll have wait until next week to try it tho.
