It decide my sdcard size is 48.5 MB, which the actual size is 16GB.

Somebody please help me!!

Hi there,
You might have been unfortunate to have bought a fake sdcard.
China is swamping the market with cheap fakes..
These cards are usually marked as 16GB or 8GB but usually only have 32MB or 64MB really..
They will register the 16GB, but when you go to copy files you'll notice that they won't all copy..
Never ever buy sdcards off ebay or the like. Always use a local retailer because you can easily take it back and get a replacement.

So eBay gaurantee is fake??

Why not buying new SDcard?

Hi, CtrlAltDelIrl.
It's not China microSD. I had used it in about 3 months (that's why i had talked to you about a2sd)
I knew it is corrupted when i reboot into CWM Recovery and it can't mount /sdcard and /sd-ext anymore.
About new SDCard, my dad couldn't buy me a new sdcard if he know about this. That is impossible thing to buy a new sdcard and in terms of insufficient funds.

Give the next tool a try: http://download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html . Run a full format.

formatting microsd issue

using parted, copied commands from one of the hero threads, but my old partitions wont go away, has anyone seen that? does it mean the card is fried? i can do rm 1, rm 2, etc but when i type print, it shows the same exact partitions from before, as if they wont delete, running out of ideas, i even tried with a gparted boot cd.
Did you try formating the entire card to fat32 from the phone and then deleting the fat32 partition so you have a blank card?
due to apps2sd, cant even do it from phone since its all whacked out, wont format.

Have you tried ubuntu. Look in my sig for tut.
read only on your SD card / reader, means that the side of it, the lock is on. look for the little button and make sure its not locked, that would make it read only, and sound like the issue here

Like he said, re-formatting from the phone will remove all partitions and automatically format everything back to a single fat32 partition. Of course if all else fails...g-parted ftw!

I used some of the readers and phones. And there is no lock staff on the microSD. I can read/write other microSD with the readers and phones. And I could read/write the microSD with them, before this happen.

I just had a single fat32 partition on it. I didn't do anything like converting to ext2,3,whatever...
Firstly, I could use the microSD, and I could format it. But it suddenly comes like that. Around that time, I was just trying many apps from Market. I didn't do any special staff on the phone...
finally got around to replying to this, yeah i tried via g-parted, and that failed too, i think the card is hosed, no big deal.

switched from unknown class to class 6

I recently made the change from an unknown class 2gb sdcard to a class 6 4gb sdcard and now things are going crazy. Hero has become unbelievably unstable and cyanogenmod boot loops.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
My guess is you failed to transfer over the apps that were on that old sd card (in the ext 2/3 partition) and now the phone can't find them. Either copy over all the data (search the forums to find out how) or do a wipe to make your phone forget about all tthose apps.

i've done several wipes, several reformats of the ext3 and the entire card, i've tried to do nandroid backup restores, nothing is working. :\
Done a full wipe and still issues? Huh. Try removing the card completely and doing a wipe. You shouldnt get any errors not having an SD card. If you do get errors then this might take a while. If you get no errors then your card is somehow screwing things up.
mistaken post. ignore this
so turns out there is something wrong with my sdcard. tried flashing xROM 1.4 at least three times and got boot loops every time, then booted up without the card in and booted up fine.
it also works when i use the switchrom script to restore.
is there anything i can do to make this card usable?
Don't take my word for it, but maybe a format and partition of the card again would probably work.

Once I had to recover a memory stick that was corrupted and I was forced to reformat and got reazonable success with PCtools File Recovery.
On the other hand, tried using same on a friend's stick without success because she had partially reused (overwritten deleted files) the stick. It also works on sd cards inside small card readers that look like memory sticks.
There is also another application from sony called Memory Card File Rescue: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=2159&SMB=YES
but you will have to provide some sort of sony card type id to be able to download it, but it works with sd cards also as far as I tested but is less effective.

+1 to that...i think this is the first time someone's got a problem with the SGA affecting SD cards..
After this problem appeard a second time i made a full wipe in recovery and installed a virusprotector since then there was nothing, but between the first and the second time there were two months.
Maybe its due to the apps u might have installed...Let the fone run and see if the virusprotector makes any difference..
Hit thanks if u got helped!
Now there is nothing it runs once a day may it really was a virus and i kille it by making the full wipe and reinstalling the firmware. But thanks for ure wasted time. May i could get the sd cars back and i hope the phone doesnt do this again in future.

Yeah...just keep the virusprotector on the fone just in case...
what class of your sd card and brnd?
send from my haramjadah Ace using Xda premium.
If you are using SD Card Tweaks such as improving speed then what did you except?
If you are using stock rom without stock then your SD Card is really weird/bad model (or even producent is weak). I'm using for about 6 months 8GB Kingston 4 Class MicroSDHC with lifetime warranty and I don't have any troubles with it.
The SD Card might be defective. I wouldn't blame the phone though, unless you're messing with sdcard cache and such
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
It's very unlikely that a phone can "lock" an SD card. Did you tried connecting it to the computer and setting write permissions. Even if it's lock, it's a software lock, so it should let you format it (as I said, sounds like the SD is as "read only")
I hope it helps
Did you partition/format/wipe it using CWM ?
It seems it cause some problem to some people (like missing apps on the partition or "not writable" mode).
You can format it with PC (be sure that MicroSD Adapter isnt lock too)!
When i turn on my phone then display me this http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach.../5130601b/1/7/7/0/3/6/1/SC20130301-083713.png i dont know what mean Error DF XX?
I have another question.
I format my sd card, then i put some data on it, but when i start the phone, and go to recovery mode, then i dont have any file on it.
I dont have mini sd adapter, can i solve problem without it?
When i make ext 4 in mini partition wizard, then when i restart my phone, dont have any data on it and phone tell me the sd card is damage.
I can't go to CMW beacuse everything is deleted when restart phone.
Any solution?

1) First fix your remount reboot error get it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
if you did not have recovery then use windows.exe installation method. Rooted device is requied
2) Download GL to SD app from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp&hl=en
move your games data
3) After moving data you can play games by this method only
3.1) open GL to SD app
3.2) you will see two button on top right side, first button is mount and second one is for unmount
3.3) press the mount button
3.4) Now click on play button which ever game you like to play
4) after close the Gl to SD app all the folders unmounted, so if you want to play again you have to open GL app again and mount the games.

does External swap has anything to do with the RAM?
Swap is normal terminology for offloading the least used data to slower drives. I suspect that the op is asking for a way to use the memory card as internal storage, and vice versa.

Sorry I could be very wrong here, in that case sorry. I thought OP was referring to making a swap partition on the sd-card and using that as swap. I've seen people do this on 'low-RAM' devices to increase multi-tasking a bit. That's why I wondered what he was up to since he has 2 gigs of RAM.

Hmmm well you could try simlinking your internal storage to your external sd-card, or only do it for specific folders. I never tested this by the way so I have no idea what could happen if you do this, but it's an idea.
