[ROM/KERNEL] Motorola 4.1.2 - Optimized & 4.3/4.4 Goodies (Nov-10-2014 & Final) - RAZR i Android Development

[ROM/KERNEL] Motorola 4.1.2 - Optimized & 4.3/4.4 Goodies (Nov-10-2014 & Final)
DESCRIPTION
This zip file started as a mod pack, and now evolved to a full flashable ROM intended to be installed in custom recovery. (it completely flashes the system partition and writes the boot.img/kernel accordingly).
The ROM is based from Motorola's stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 EU for the Razr i but it is still a must to wipe the data partition when first flashing because of the extreme modifications.

MORE SCREENSHOTS

The following changes are incorporated:
Custom optimized kernel.
Different IO Schedulers to choose from, the default is BFQ v7r6.
Android 4.4 Gallery with effects working using native x86 libs.
Android 4.4 system fonts.
Android 4.2 Clock with timer and stopwatch and increasing volume alarm.
Android 4.4 Keyboard with multi-lingual support and swype gestures working.
Apex as the default launcher -- goodbye Blur's HomeScreen (check the extra flashers if you want to keep Blur's home).
A lot of Blur services and Motorola stuff removed for better memory consumption and less background services.
Very good battery life.
Comes pre-rooted and with Koush's x86 Superuser.
Tweaked the UI compositor a little bit.
Auto brightness curve tweaks mod for better levels while indoors.
Fully deodexed and zipaligned.
init.d support implemented inside the ramdisk of the Kernel.
Kernel memory/cache management optimizations and scheduler power-savings.
Kernel Same-page Merging (KSM) enabled in the Kernel for better memory management.
CyanogenMod Email/Exchange client instead of Motorola's.
Option to make the External SD the primary one under flashable extras.
adb runs as root. (ie, "adb remount" now works).
DPI changer app work on this ROM.
Hold up/down keys to move between music tracks when the screen is off, thanks to @shaftenberg.
AOSP Style status bar and navigation bar.
CHANGELOG
Code:
2014 - 11 - 05: Added the BFQ BFQ-v7r6 scheduler, interactivex2 ramps up to 1.8 GHz instead of 1.6 GHz -- this helps with the GFx engine clocking somehow.
2014 - 09 - 22: Fixed a GPS bug introduced in last version. Updated Google Play services.
2014 - 09 - 20: Updated prepackaged Apex launcher and refreshed the Dalvik heap settings. Hope you guys like the improvement in performance and responsiveness of this version (and bonus AnTuTu points).
2014 - 09 - 17: Fixed a wifi wakelock event in our driver and one in the pmu code, turbocharging our deep sleep stats.
2014 - 09 - 16: Heavily optimized the memory management blocks. I also recommend doing the following steps too:
adb shell 'su -c "tune2fs -m 1.0 /dev/block/cache"'
adb shell 'su -c "tune2fs -m 1.0 /dev/block/userdata"'
2014 - 09 - 10: Better performance in the GFx driver while mantaining battery savings. Let me know how this goes for most of you guys.
2014 - 08 - 10: Focused to do some more Kernel improvements regarding user interactivity and memory management.
2014 - 08 - 04: Fixed a bug in the APN reset logic, updated the Kernel.
2014 - 07 - 16: intel_cpu_idle changes to conserve more power.
2014 - 07 - 8/11: GFx driver tweaks in the Kernel to enable clockgating and PM runtime counter change, also fixing the ADB icon when plugged in -- please report anything unusual.
2014 - 06 - 10: Fixed Facebook crashes and brought over KREAT0R's white SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk changes over to my ROM. Thanks to him for doing it :).
2014 - 05 - 20: InteractiveX2 now also limits the single core that remains awake to it's min frequency, this will allow me to just remove the SMP power savings in the scheduler since the screen has always been it's biggest draw when the phone is awake and to provide extra juice for Goofle Now users. Fixed GoogleTTS.apk that I could have messed up on previous build -- I have no idea why Facebook closes right now; it seems to think that we are in Android 4.4 yet we do not have some methods it is trying to access from KitKat.
2014 - 05 - 14: InteractiveX2 ramp up/ramp up changes for gaming performance. Added back GoogleTTS (please clean up it's setting if needed).
2014 - 04 - 21: Updated the keyboard, please go to "Apps > All > Android Keyboard" and hit clear data (MUST).
2014 - 04 - 01: Was able to extract more battery juice by changing CPU scheduling, I don't know why Facebook upload is broken tho.
2014 - 01 - 28: Fixed a busybox/su bug I introduced by mistake.
2014 - 01 - 21: Fixed a weird bug in SystemUI.apk when booted after factory reset.
2014 - 01 - 20: InteractiveX2 fixed to avoid random reboots, plus 2 zram spaces active, zram will only be active on rare cases (low swappiness for less battery consumption/cpu usafe), feel free to tweak as you like.
2014 - 01 - 01: Added fstrim x86 static binary to trim every boot -- should keep our NAND storage fast and healthy. Kernel has the random-reboots fix in place and updated /media/sounds/* to to 4.4 files -- fixed Hangouts not detected on clean install (can someone try a Hangouts video call?).
2013 - 12 - 09: Think I took care of the last reboots for some users, this should pack the best deep sleep to active ratios than before. Replaced with the correct signal kit kat icons in the status bar along with wifi and some others, and updated the Keyboard to be Google's one that has working swype gestures. Gallery effects are still broken in this build. Changed the navigation bar and transparency to match Apex's default translucency.
2013 - 12 - 01: Experimental pack, trying to fix the cpu_offline bug that caused reboots on some of my older Kernels, Bluetooth is enabled here. Status bar icons are white without Google services connectivity indication (except for the network glyph that will be lighter). 4.4 Gallery without an extra camera is loaded and trying the 4.4 Keyboard -- I will attempt to fix the Gallery edit crash and the swype crash on the next days, includes updated (beta) Apex Launcher. Stripped down all the binaries and libraries that could be stripped from debug symbols.
2013 - 10 - 15: Updated the Linux Kernel to 3.0.100, worth it.
2013 - 10 - 12: Quick small update to get "Android Services" use less power.
2013 - 10 - 07: CFQ interactivity tweaks in place. Userland binaries were stripped down in size. Also figured out I had an older DeskClock.apk that was buggy and does not include the increasing volume option, got this swapped out when I suddenly deleted it, (restored it back) -- hacked out the smali chunks in MmsDependencies.apk to see if this works now with the CM app for everyone. Navigation bar is now also tiny on landscape mode (not as tiny as portrait, but apparently that is how it goes -- I did modify the landscape parameter). What is left would be to finally enable MMS on the CM app and I am guessing different *.apk's will behave differently... ideas, suggestions and experiments will be well recieved here and while testing with an unclean data partition please delete MmsDependencies and Mms data or those might randomly crash! This was labeled M8 if you still have SMS issues read the known issues section.
2013 - 09 - 20: Updated Quickoffice.apk, changed the boot animation to Google edition devices..
2013 - 09 - 02: Increased the KSM ratios for lower memory consumption. Removed "keyguard.no_require_sim=false" from the boot.img to see if this fixes the bootloops when clean installing for some people. Update: Fixed CMFileManager thanks to paulle.
2013 - 07 - 30: Enabled KSM (kernel same-page merging) on the Kernel also removed a lot of extra junk from the ROM such as a stored copy of the radio.bin and unused blobs, replaced the audio files with CM10.1 ones. This build attempts to lower the RAM consumption. ALSA configuration file is now kept as global under /system/etc, let's see if this fixes random audio issues and also helps save some memory on the system -- if you don't do a /data wipe please delete this folder "/data/alsa/" or you might get random restarts or no audio at all.
2013 - 07 - 14: Updated Houdini binaries and related files from Samsung's P5200XXUAMFC_P5200OXEAMF5_MGF image. Added SunBeam.apk (live wallpaper) from Android 4.3, also fixed Google's TTS not loading properly one of the libraries. Re-added libcamera_client.so from ARM libs as it crashed some houdini apps. Kernel updated to 3.0.86.
2013 - 07 - 09: Updated the Roboto fonts to the 4.3 Android pack [they do look nicer], there is also some minor sysctl.conf changes and minfree values.
2013 - 06 - 05: Seems to have fixed the Chrome lagginess and keeping lower minfrees. Thanks to danielgava's recommendation. New Kernel optimizations -- it feels snappier IMO.
2013 - 05 - 28: Some more HDSPA+ battery saving tweaks while retaining good throughput, patched Settings.apk thanks to lord0815 on the Privacy icon that was missing, also went different on the minfree's.
2013 - 05 - 18: Fixed earpiece bug -- removed the Picasa uploader.
2013 - 05 - 16: The installer now does the formatting /system by itself, also fixed the installer not getting correctly the busybox symlink on clean install (permission issues). Set "ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=1000" again since the value of "2000" was giving weird behavior for some users losing signal until rebooting.
2013 - 05 - 12: Added shaftenberg's mod for music control when the screen is off, better benchmarking and caching. Changed media_profiles.xml to get better jpeg encoding and decoding for our device.
2013 - 05 - 03: Removed some extra intents on MmsDependencies, but doubt it will fix SMS issues for some people but you guys can give it a shot. Also disabled one of the a52 ciphering algorithms for GSM but kept a53, so far battery looks better on mobile network. Changed the minfree's to have less application and service killings. Went back and put CM's MMS app as it did not make a difference on 'fixing' the SMS issue according to posts. Vibration is now a tad bit stronger too.
2013 - 04 - 30: Restoring back the Exchange corporate Email apk to a working one (thanks to lebobo). ADB runs as root now.
2013 - 04 - 25: Fixed the MTP bug that was introduced by mistake and put the Mms.apk that jacbarahona72 shared with us, replaced the status bar with AOSP icons -- thanks to shaftenberg whom made the mod where I based the my changes. (If you want to flash on top the stock SystemUI it is under flashable extras).
2013 - 04 - 24: Kernel changes merged on the TCP/IP layer and memory management blocks (out of those changes something you might notice are to let the phone sleep more when on wi-fi), re-added the powervr.ini file. Also Photosphere loads now but it is still WIP because on the gyroscope required changes that must be implemented and tested. I recommend this version if you have been holding the updates lately.
2013 - 04 - 21: Better performance on GPU and arithmetic operations achieved with some Kernel compile changes.
2013 - 04 - 17: Removed discard options on remount, apparently enabling TRIM support makes some apps lag a lot.
2013 - 04 - 16: Read a lot more on RIL parameters and fine tuned the radio power saving values, let's see how it goes. ROW IO Scheduler set to default, seems to be giving the best battery life. And removed SmartActions + Motorola's cce.apk finally after the 3G/UMTS/HDSPA tweaks were put in place.
2013 - 04 - 10: Recompiled a specific busybox with everything working :victory: (for example razriroot busybox has some commands messed up).
2013 - 04 - 08: Got an extended apns-conf.xml for people who default the APN's according to the operator should be less prone to have MMS issues, and also moved some init.d tweaks inside the Kernel, you will now see a lower score for "RAM" benchmarks under because it was tweaked for battery, but this performs better in real-life.
2013 - 04 - 07: Fixed the WiFi MAC changing, the Busybox binary that was leftover, also updated some more optimized/native x86 system libraries for graphics. Fixed a messed up $BOOTCLASSPATH I got by mistake.
2013 - 03 - 05: Initial upload.

< Flashable extras >
RazRi_External-SD.zip - Will map the Ext-SD card to /storage/sdcardN, and leave /data to the internal eMMC
RazRi_BlurLauncher_Install.zip - Reinstalls Blur Launcher with the Circle Widgets and removes Apex (Multi-lingual)
RazRi_Emoji-Keyboard.zip - Adds the 4.2.2 Emoji Keyboard from the Nexus 4
Collection of extra mods for the ROM
Apps Pack without the Blackout Patch
INSTRUCTIONS (FOLLOW THEM PLEASE)
Make sure you have a custom recovery installed.
Download the *.zip file to your SD.
Boot into your custom recovery of choice.
<Optional when upgrading same ROM> Data wipe will be required if you came from another ROM, even stock EU.
Select install zip from external card, and choose the zip file.
Hit Reboot.
Note: Do not flash Gamma Kernel on top, the latest or a later better one is already packed on the ROM releases.
!!! KNOWN BUGS !!! (MUST READ BEFORE POSTING)
One of the power-saving features will bring data connection instability if your city has bad signal coverage, please read this. It is usually the minority of the users but you might face it.
Please add a MMS entry for your carrier under APNs if you do not have one -- if you don't the CM MMS app will have trouble with long text messages or unicode characters. If you still have SMS problems after this just head over here.
Photosphere now loads -- but there is no gyroscope in our device, so we can't shoot photospheres.
IMPORTANT: I recommend you perform a nandroid backup of your ROM before playing with your phone, just in case.

Thanks for the effort!
Can I use this with an odexed ROM (the official JB OTA)?
If not, any way to still get the Gallery app?

That's basically the point , it replaces everything from apps and framework folders, and leaves the system as deodexed, zipaligned and also removing unnecessary stuff from the ROM.

Aw man, and it even says so right in the first line of the description... :silly:
Sorry for not reading properly. I'll give it a try.
Oh, one more thing: this does not cause any data loss or requires a wipe, correct? Does it matter that I have the external/internal SD Card switch installed?

No problem, no data loss or wipe required (unless you consider Motorola's blur services a data loss ), I should add that to the OP. Unsure on the external/internal switch -- not sure if that is done on the boot.img, so you should try it .

Im getting Bootloop
Just flashed it without wiping anything
Im using JB EU

Just sent you a PM, EU ROM's please wait before flashing until we figure out what happened.

was just about to try right now, glad I checked back here first - any news? can I test anything or be of help?

In the process of uploading a test version that shouldn't bootloop EU, should take 40 minutes because of the slow connection in this place.

need some testers with eu devices?
indeed i'm looking for a deblured rom - sounds great!

(In the meantime as we gather data to understand if EU based ROMs works fine or not...)
Here you guys can have the 4.2 Gallery with working x86 libs for effects plus the 4.2 Keyboard as a flash-able zip -- you guys won't get extra apps and services removed with this zip but since people were asking for it standalone I will put it here.
File: RazR_i_4.2_Camera_w_Keyboard.zip
md5sum: 718f474e9e0f0bdeb9d20333e76f80b7
I still recomend have a backup stored either way, since this zip will remove BlurGallery and Motorola's Keyboard.

Uploading the retail EU modded pack -- will be done once the md5sum in the post matches the one in the server.
So far it looks like EU and LATAM are different on the apks needed to boot, so while removing some needed apks on EU made it not boot (haven't figure out which specific apk was the issue so I added the ones that LATAM versions did not have and replaced the others with EU compiled versions). We will have to test the EU patch pack on Vodafone's base and compare -- I am hoping that the EU patches work on France variants and BR patches work on LATAM region variants.

i tested the eu version on my eu phone and still got a bootloop. restored my nandroid backup.
germany (o2) unbranded (91.2.26001.XT890.Retail.en.EU)

I tested the Full EU package of today, and don't have any problems.
I just installed it using CWM and did a cache and dalvik cache wipe.
Gallery works and I can see my picasa albums - finally! :good: Anything in particular that I should be testing?
oh, phone: 91.2.26001.XT890.Retail.en.EU

Need root
i´m retail BR JB (forced OTA) no root...can flash it?
Edit: CWM wont work to me...
flash CWM black.bat... device reboot and.... nothing more

Yes, select the correct BR retail patch on the OP. You will need clockwork recovery installed.

I just installed the rom. It's working nearly perfectly. Thank you very much seo!
Okay noob question here,
If we flash this will we be able to use kernels for the galaxy tab 10.1 "slim"?
Applied & rebooted ok.
Market was updating apps and I attempted to install another app via adb and the tablet locked up. Powered it down and got a Kernel Panic message.
Attached /prox/last_kmsg
It's restarted ok - testing it out again now.
how is TouchWiz? Cant this be ported to the 10.1? Im curious!
A little too much in some places - some of the initial widgets dominate the home screen. The update to the settings panel on the home screen is nice.
Not a huge fan of their colour scheme but that's fixable at some point
have you put on it Ad-Hoc mod????
I hope to see in the second version.
Bugs I noticed :
- Camera app fail crash when trying to use smile detection.
- Mobile network is working, SMS receiving and MMS sending\receiving is working but it seems impossible to send SMS.
Accelerometer appears to be working but compass doesn't (at least using Google maps and the direction/compass/follow me) function.
Fonts don't appear to be quite as crisp as they were - although that might just be because I'm tired
All in all - it's working well - no more lockups as of yet
how can i go into CLOCKWORKMOD recovery? im only getting android system recovery (3e)
my bootloader is already unlocked
//edit I got it! I'm not a noob after all

camera needs more work because of "old" camera libs. all camera bugs can be fixed in a minute but... forget about 8mpix then
attached apk with fixed smile detection. push it via adb
Code:
adb remount
adb push Camera.apk /data/app_s/

I noticed one more bug, more critical unfortunately. My device do not charge anymore, the battery in the notification area has a cross on it.

it does. now it charges even via usb (at least I was not able to do that before). it's just an indicator. investigating the issue
Don't have time to flash it until tomorrow, but great work.
Is it faster than the stock 3.0 ? Cause I found the 10.1v to be horribly horribly slow in look and feel.

to be honest with you: I can't see real difference. I think samsung widgets make it a bit slower but I don't use them anyway... but I like the new ui.
That's unfortunate. On another note, would it be possible to repartition /system to make it bigger, using a modified PIT ? Or has this already been tried ?
As soon as an Exynos based tablet comes out - or Tegra3 _maybe_ - this 10.1v is history.

Problems & Solutions
If GPS isn't working:
open HiddenMenu with 1809#*990#, choose GPS Test
In Settings:
"MOLR Protokoll" -> "User Plane"
"SUPL Settings" -> "SPL Server" -> choose "LGE SUPL" instead of "google(Open)"
SLP Auto Provision activated
"C-Plane" -> "Loc Estimate"
"Misc" -> activate "Auto Cold Start"
Second possibility: put gps.conf (1.32 KB) http://www.multiupload.com/F4AQDOJ9N5 in the /system/etc folder. With this you have to boot your phone with activated GPS otherwise it might not get a fix!
If you get freezes using RC11, try not to undervolt, make sure you don't use pathed SQL libs and if this doesn't help try another Kernel from post #1. With the older kernels you can also use the patched SQL files linked in post #1 which will give you higher benchmarks (though no real higher performance).

This looks good, great work!
Hej Gueste,
This ROM is very welcome to XDA..!! I have used the ROM , downloaded from handy-faq ( google translate, ofcourse) and very much delighted by the smoothness and reliability of it. This one is a neat and clean ROM, with pretty much everything one should ask for ( or make what we would have thought when we bought a P990 in the first place).
I have been using Topogigi on a regular basis, before actually seeing your ROM. I found it is a better and stable alternative to people who want their phones to be reliable and actually useful without problems ( not that I have encountered any problems so far, but that is my experience).
Thank you very much for bringing this great work to the rest of the humanity
Welcome here too. Thanks for zour rom.
Very good one

Fix the link please. TIA
Re-upload this on multiupload or somewhere. " HP_Kernel_RC11_TB_modForGueste2xv2.1.zip (6.4 MB) "
Thanks.
Im gonna be using this rom rather than hell_97's because of filesonic.
Juice Defender always freezes the phone for me, can this be used with a phone that's already uv/oc?
Edit: Phone froze on me again, pulled the battery and this time the whole system gets corrupted. I get lots of FCs on reboot and telling me to reinstall my keyboard, whatsapp, etc that runs on startup. Must be the rc11 behaving like rc10.
Going to try SR2. I'm guessing these HP zip files are custom tailored for this ROM so I can't use the official zips. Can you make one with RC9? That's been very stable.
rom looks good, but gps is not working.
FYI

ROM looks quite fast but i had three freezes with three calls....had to pull out the battery and restore....
Used the RC 11 link and did the flash...is it because of that....I have BB20M flashed and also the RIL using GetRIL...
restore the Topo 20M updated by Striatum_bdr...
Thanks for the hard work but would like to know the reason.
i think rc11 is the culprit for the freezes! the rom is really fast and stable now im using it with rc9 and launcher7 without any lag.. for the 20mb hack, if it's possible then i think it would be a great addition to this rom.. we can always make use of extra 20mb rather than leave it to useles ota update right?

[ROM/DEV] Unofficial CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 "GalaxyMini" Port

Note: This port is 100% built from source, heavily based on my "Galaxy5" device sources. The reason why I have decided to develop/release this ROM is that I prefer to use a vanilla CyanogenMod build (with no customized/extra apps included), and I noticed some issues with all existing builds (e.g. FM radio, audio device routing, native CyanogenMod USB tethering) which I have already fixed in my Galaxy 5 port.
I don't actually own this phone, but I will offer support in my free time while I still have the device in my possession, and sources are provided.
CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 "GalaxyMini" Port
Latest release: v1.2 [26 January 2012]
Latest Google Apps package: official: 20110828
Hey folks,
This is a port of Cyanogen 7.2.0-RC0 (based on Android Gingerbread 2.3.7) for the Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-S5570) phone. The current port status is stable - most hardware is working correctly, but see post #2 for known issues.
Thanks to all who have contributed/shared code from the Galaxy 5 port, as well as coolya, tj_style and teamhacksung for the kernel patches and reference Tass device configuration.
Pre-requisites:
Your phone must have a Gingerbread bootloader installed (as it uses the 2.6.35 kernel & Gingerbread proprietary files).
Any version of ClockworkMod that supports EXT4 partitions. Unfortunately, the build supplied with ROM Manager doesn't seem to be compatible.
Recommended: ensure that you have a backup of your current ROM and user data.
Installation:
Note 1: you always need to re-install the Google Apps package after installing a full update package.
Reboot into ClockworkMod. You can do this via adb reboot recovery, or by choosing the Reboot -> Recovery menu if you are already using CyanogenMod.
If you are upgrading from a stock or custom ROM, you absolutely must perform a data wipe: Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm the operation. Note that you will lose all of your user data, so be sure that you have performed a backup. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
Choose the option install update from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard. You will see the two (or three) .zip files in the list.
You must install the two (or three, if you have a hotfix) files in this exact order:
The base package named update-cm-7.X-GalaxyMini-vY.Z-MADTEAM-signed.zip
[If exists] The latest hotfix package for the same base package version, named GalaxyMini-vX.Y-hotfixZ.zip
The Google Apps package, named gapps-gb-DATE-signed.zip
Once all packages are installed, you can now reboot.
Installation (hotfix update only):
Note 1: hotfixes are cumulative - this means that you only need to install the latest hotfix, because it contains all the fixes of previous hotfixes.
Note 2: you don't need to re-install the Google Apps package if you are only installing a hotfix update.
Note 3: only install hotfixes that match the full update package version (e.g. v1.5hotfix1 only matches release version v1.5).
Note 4: hotfixes do not require a data-wipe.
Download the latest hotfix package and transfer to the SD card.
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
Choose install update from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard, select the hotfix and confirm installation.
Reboot.
Latest Changelog:
Note: "Data wipe?" only refers to when you upgrade from a previous version of my ROM - not anybody else's. For every other case, follow the guidelines of the Installation section above.
v1.2 [26 January 2012]
Data wipe? Only if you experience problems.
Updated CyanogenMod source.
Now includes ICS transition and rotation animations (merged officially into CM7.2).
Fix for rare issue where notification area items can get "stuck", causing notifications to malfunction.
Kernel: removed Samsung's drop_caches code in order to prevent periodic cache flushes that can reduce performance.
Wifi: disabled combo scan due to problems with reconnect from idle; tweaked TCP buffering to improve performance.
Bluetooth: improved configuration (enabled HFP support, increased max BT connections from 1 -> 3).
libaudio: updated code & removed proprietary liba2dp.so.
v1.1 [20 January 2012]
Hotfix 1 [20 January 2012]: Improve wifi connectivity (changed from ar6000 -> wext wpa_supplicant driver with combo scan enabled, enable ssid scanning in configuration to fix hidden networks); add missing FM Radio application; updated proprietary files with newer versions and added some missing files to fix keymaps.
Data wipe? Only if you experience problems.
Updated CyanogenMod source.
Kernel: fixed charge reboot issue (thanks to squadzone for tip).
Kernel: patched bma_accel_driver.c to enforce minimum poll_delay threshold. This fixes all Google Maps 6.x issues, and will probably also fix lag issues in applications that try to excessively poll sensor data.
v1.0 [15 January 2012]
Hotfix 2 [17 January 2012]: Framework: reduced LatinIME key height in landscape mode (.25in -> .23in). Kernel: tweak smartassV2 CPU scheduler to make better use of the Mini's available CPU frequencies; removed SCHED_HRTICK kernel tweak due to instability/random reboot issue; update CPU & AHB overclock code (CPU overclock up to 864Mhz, but 844Mhz seems to be the maximum stable frequency for my phone; AHB now overclocks at frequencies higher than 400Mhz instead of 480Mhz). Once again: overclock frequencies are not activated until you enable them manually, and you do so at your own risk.
Hotfix 1 [15 January 2012]: Framework: enable purging of unused assets by default. Kernel: enable "veno" TCP congestion protocol to improve wireless reception, configuration changes to help battery usage, several stability & performance patches (see github commits), enabled CPU overclock to 768Mhz with 50% AHB overclocking (thanks to kalltkaffe). Note: the kernel will always boot at the safe frequency of 604Mhz; you must manually enable overclocked frequencies in CyanogenMod - Performance -> CPU. I accept no responsibility for damage as a result of using overclocked frequencies!
Initial status: everything appears to be working correctly (but I may have overlooked some issues).
Based on latest CyanogenMod source (Android version 7.2-RC0)
Patched: wpa_supplicant_v6 ar6000 supplicant driver
Patched: swap volume control buttons at 90 degrees orientation
Patched: enable bcm2049 fm radio & better seek support
Kernel: based on teamhacksung's android_kernel_samsung_msm, with additional patches: BFQ IO scheduler (default), interactiveX, smartassV2 (default) cpu schedulers, fix for CyanogenMod native USB tethering, replaced ramzswap driver (for CMParts/compcache/rzscontrol ioctl compatibility).
Source Code:
Kernel: https://github.com/psyke83/android_kernel_samsung_msm
Device: https://github.com/psyke83/android_device_samsung_tass
Further Information
Not working / TODO:
SIM Toolkit (menus will display, but options/commands do not process properly when selected).
Battery drains: CyanogenMod doesn't report the battery status properly. Please read this post.
Not working / WONTFIX:
Kies. Don't expect Kies to support any custom ROMS.
Before you ask...
I have no interest or intention to further "mod" the ROM with any kind of hacks or customizations (like custom apps, themes, Swype, etc.). My only aim is to have a 100% stable port of CyanogenMod code. Any such requests will be ignored.
Reporting bugs
You must follow these instructions exactly, or I will ignore your requests. Provide the following information:
The version of the ROM you are using (to confirm that you have the latest release)
Report any customizations you have made to the ROM (themes, system apps, etc.)
Describe the problem clearly, including steps on how I can reproduce the issue.
Provide a logcat from your system taken just after the issue has occurred. To take a logcat, you enter this command from your PC: adb shell logcat -d >c:\logcat.txt. Copy and paste this log to pastebin.com, and provide the link.
If I ask you to re-test the issue after a data-wipe, do the following: reboot into ClockworkMod, perform a full backup, then data-wipe, reboot and retest the issue, giving a new log if necessary. You can then reboot into ClockworkMod and restore your data backup.
Reserved for future use...

I tested squadzone's RC4 build - it was nice, but I noticed some problems that I already fixed in my galaxy5 port (the hardware is very similar). I already mentioned a few of the bugs in the blue text of post #1. I also don't really like when Google apps or other third-party apps/customizations are bundled in a ROM - my CM7 build is as close to an official build as possible (no added apps, themes, modified effects).
My kernel is quite simple, based on teamhacksung's source with patches to fix some bugs related to USB tethering and just the best IO/CPU schedulers added. Overclocking is not added to my kernel, but I may add it later on, once I've had time to test overclock stability on this device.
If you don't care about "purity" and you like all the extras included with squadzone's ROM, feel free to continue using it . It's nice to have more choice, I think.

I like you bro..
And I'm pretty sure I will like your work also..
much much better ... more power.
Btw .. I like that word... "Purity" = "Cleanliness"
i`ve tested it , and hard to say..ITS AWESOME !!!
Pros
Density fit for our phone
clean UI
apps working great
no more scatter video
Cons
a bit laggy dude
can you make the kernel and make it more smooth ?? i really love your ROM
Could you upload screenshots? I really want to see how this turns out.
Thats not fair.
I loved cm7 rc4 rom from Squad. But as you mentioned there are still to many bugs. For example camera has not sometimes, it has always wrong oriantation. No radio, etc.
Therefore I went to emanoN v3. This rom is really good. Now emanoN has an update and cm7 comes back newly and clean programmed.
I will give it a try. Thanks for your time and support offering us this rom.
Grettings from Ruhrpott http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruhr
the best cm7 build until now
but i have i question: the lockscreen seems not working, i think it's turned off because i can wake up the phone only with home or power button, and i'm on home screen immediately without unlocking
i checked in cyano lockscreen settings and there is no lockscreen on/off option
however, on the one hand it's good too because in my pocket it's impossible that home or power button gets pressed
so it's a bug or feature?
and big thanks for this clean cm7 build, i appreciate your work
Actually i find this post the best...
Only ... the problem is...

the best cm7 build until now
but i have i question: the lockscreen seems not working, i think it's turned off because i can wake up the phone only with home or power button, and i'm on home screen immediately without unlocking
i checked in cyano lockscreen settings and there is no lockscreen on/off option
however, on the one hand it's good too because in my pocket it's impossible that home or power button gets pressed
so it's a bug or feature?
and big thanks for this clean cm7 build, i appreciate your work

I loved cm7 rc4 rom from Squad. But as you mentioned there are still to many bugs. For example camera has not sometimes, it has always wrong oriantation. No radio, etc.
Therefore I went to emanoN v3. This rom is really good. Now emanoN has an update and cm7 comes back newly and clean programmed.
I will give it a try. Thanks for your time and support offering us this rom.

HERE IS MY TWEAKS
INIT.D TWEAKS :
-Zpaling - Zipaling apps on every boot , this make the phone to boot faster and better ram usage.
-Complete - Remount system to rw (only read).
-Sqlite - Optimizing and defragging database files.
–Mount system with noauto for better apps loading.
-Mount system with noatime for speed system.
-Remove dalvik-cache on every boot (rm-r).
-Syctl – Enable sysctl.conf from system /etc
SYSCTL:
-vm.dirty_background_ratio= 55
-vm.dirty_ratio = 90
-The first of the two (vm.dirty_background_ratio) defines the percentage of memory that can become dirty before a background flushing of the pages to disk starts. Until this percentage is reached no pages are flushed to disk. However when the flushing starts, then it's done in the background without disrupting any of the running processes in the foreground.
-Now the second of the two parameters (vm.dirty_ratio) defines the percentage of memory which can be occupied by dirty pages before a forced flush starts. If the percentage of dirty pages reaches this number, then all processes become synchronous, they are not allowed to continue until the io operation they have requested is actually performed and the data is on disk. In case of high performance I/O machines, this causes a problem as the data caching is cut away and all of the processes doing I/O (the important ones in dCache pool) become blocked to wait for io. This will cause a big number of hanging processes, which leads to high load, which leads to unstable system and crappy performance.
-vm.swappiness=0 - We don't swap
-sysctl -w vm.panic_on_oom=1
-This enables or disables panic on out-of-memory feature. If this is set to 1, the kernel panics when out-of-memory happens. If this is set to 0, the kernel will kill some rogue process, by calling oom_kill(). Usually, oom_killer can kill rogue processes and system will survive. If you want to panic the system rather than killing rogue processes, set this to 1.
-vm.vfs_cache_pressure=20
-This is more interesting. File system cache (dentry/inode) is really more important than the block cache above, so we really want the kernel to use up much of the RAM for them. The default value is 100, and what you want to do is lower that value to tell the kernel to favor the file system cache and not drop them aggressively.
BUILD.PROP
-debug.sf.hw=1 - Render UI with GPU
-debug.performance.tuning=1 - video.accelerate.hw=1 -( Increase overall touch responsiveness)
- wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180 - pm.sleep_mode=1 - ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0 - (Save battery)
- windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=200 - (Scrolling responsiveness)
- ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100 - (Raise JPG quality to 100%)
KERNEL :
- ro.secure=0 -(This gives access to all adb root commands)
- ro.debuggable=1 - (Enable adb on usb by default)
- persist.sys.usb.config=mtp,adb - (Enable usb debugging)

Highly doubt it (T-mobile Galaxy S II, wasn't compatible with i777, and i9100 roms); though there's hope that the Canadian, American, and Chinese developers could have a unified developing pool, after all the specs are ALL the same (S4, 2GB Ram) and since they all have the exact same radio, just with some bands disabled by the carrier, there's hope for a huge development community!

I highly doubt that any of these ROMS here work on the at&t variant. I could be wrong tho.
Darn, but oh well. I'm sure there will be developers on the US version as well
Sounds good
Kinda curious what all those tweak actually are? I'm a sucker for good battery life!

Firstly, I just want to say that this is not my creation, I take no credit, and I'm posting pretty much what it says on the original thread right here. If you wanna thank the dev, follow the link below. I'm posting here so more Nexus S owners can take a look.
UPDATE! Go to original thread for new changlogs and updates, I haven't the resources to consistently update this thread..[/U]

You can flash this on top of any custom rom with init.d support
- Download the version of Pimp My Rom that corresponds to your device's screen resolution (Not sure what res your device is ? Here is a well-furnished list of android devices with their screen-res)
- Make sure you are running a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, just in case
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
- Flash PmR in recovery
- A wonderful touchscreen interface will pop-up
(devices need different touchscreen calibration, if the touchscreen doesn't work, use the menu button of your device, select "Calibration Tools" and follow the instructions)
- Follow the on-screen instructions, make your choices between all the different features to Pimp your Rom
- Select "Reboot my device" on last screen (or reboot from recovery) and enjoy
Encountering installation issues ?
Do the following to fix most errors you might get on some devices :
Open the zip of the rom you are running with winrar or 7zip or whatever (the .zip file that you flash in recovery)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android
Extract the file called "update-binary" and rename it to "update-binary-installer" then close your rom's zip
Open Pimp my Rom's zip (i.e : PIMP_MY_ROM-v1.5.3-by-Androguide.fr.zip)
Do not unzip it, inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android and delete "updater-binary-installer"
Now copy the "update-binary-installer" file you extracted & renamed from your rom to Pimp My Rom's zip (still in META-INF/com/google/android). Simply drag and drop it into PmR's zip to add it.
Close the zip and flash it
