Incompatible apps - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I've got my Xperia Z for a few days now and I'm really enjoying it, except for the fact that there are a lot of apps I'd really like to install, but can't.
When I search for these apps in the Play store, I simply can't find them - they are not showing up. When I search them on Google and open the Play store in Chrome, I get a notification saying these apps aren't compatible.
An example of an app I can't find and download is Doodle Jump. What's the reason that I can't install these apps? And will they be compatible soon or is this a hardware issue? Like everyone else, I'm using Android 4.1.2.
Thanks in advance

Its because the developer hasn't uodated the app for 1080p screens
If your rooted and dont want to wait google modoco and look at his website. Hes created a version of play store thay will work

compatible apps

ive recently tried to install a couple of applications on my galaxy mini only to discover that according to the google market 'words with friends', 'box.com' and 'tumblr' are not compatible with 'this phone'. now ive used tumbler before on my old x10 mini pro and had no issues there so why would the market think the phone is not compatible with that particular app and the other 2 ive mentioned. any ideas guys. i am still running on a rooted stock room 2.3.4 that came on the phone.
Every phone has a different specifications and hardware and these are classified by android market
by this way the apps for every phone are differentiated by market, thats why u don't get the apps u have mentioned above
if u really want those apps try to download them from other sources or websites
Whenever I get that error, I just google the apk and install. Though I wouldn't recommend this on HD games or the likes because it will not run. Try experimenting what works or not. It's not that harmful really.
Thanks, got all the apps i used to use and all working fine, even got bbc iplayer which workd great

List of Non-Working Apps on Jelly Bean 4.1.1

So far these don't work for me on 4.1.1:
HBOgo
WatchESPN
TWC TV
SiriusXM Internet
For a device that's supposedly optimized for Google Play, these are pretty major apps to not have working. Although, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they do, but I'd like to have them working before I upgrade to the next nextgen tablet.
Any others?
Has nothing to do with Google or your purchase. The makers of the apps need to update them. Contact them to make sure they are aware.

When they say optimized for Google play I think they're talking about their content, not ESPN HBO etc...

Google Play Movies

Hey guys,
I have a problem with the google play app. First, I have the Sabsa Prime Rom in the version 10.0 installed. So I have Android 4.0.4 and HTC Sense 4.1. Now I want to explain u my problem: I don't have Google Play movies. Neither can I see movies in the play store nor do I have the app.
I hope u can help me,
Draym.
I can't find it either; but I just use the VLC beta and it works fine.
And where do u buy/rent the movies?
I also had this Problem So is there any Solution please ?
Try going into Titanium Backup. There you should see Google Play Movies. Click on it and press unfreeze, maybe this will work

[Q] Incompatible apps

Apologies for the noobish question, I've searched the forums and googled etc.. and not found the answer to my question...
This is my first Android phone, so I'm still getting my head around how things work - quite a few major apps are not compatible with the XZ, is this just because it's a new phone and apps need to be adjusted to work with new handsets? And if so, how long does it take in general for an app to be made compatible? (eg. Angry Birds Star Wars which is a huge game, isn't compatible, I assume this will change in the near future?)
I know it is possible to download programs to bypass incompatibilities, but I don't want to jailbreak (or whatever you fancy Android types call it) my phone just yet.
Sorry if this is a dumb question/answered somewhere else and I'm being totally blind - please lock the thread if so!

Did not know that, thanks. Is this a general update that needs to be done by Google, or do we have to wait until every developper updates their app to 1080p resolution?

No it's not Google's problem. We will all have to wait for the app to be updated by the developer.
So there is no ETA. I wanted to play NFS Most Wanted but couldn't

another incompatible apps
hi guy, WECHAT, i tried downloading in both my wife and mine xperia z. It works fine in normal messaging but once voice chatting is involved, the apps sometimes stop responding, and the mic fails. only when turning the speaker on the mic works fine. Need to restart the phone then everything is normal.

This app is not updated by the dev to be compatible with xperia z

oh my god, so as long as the dev did not update the software, its forever incompatible with xperia z?
Waiting for Angry Birds Star Wars, NFS MW, Plants vs Zombies, Candy Crush Saga and Tapatalk HD... :fingers-crossed:
I don't hold too much hope for the EA games though as NFS Shift & Plants vs Zombies still aren't compatible with my 18 month old Sony Tablet S

You mean the Sony Select app? For some reason that app doens't let you search for apps, so it isn't that useful, unless I'm wrong of course.

NOt sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I don't have such app on my XZ. When I look for it in the Play store, I can find an official PlayStation app, but this just seems to be an info app to promote games for PS2/PSP.
The app "ChatON" is also incompatible it says on google play/store. But thatsnot true, beouse if you downlaod the apk file an dcopyed to the phone then you are able to install it and use it as normal, so strange that its says incompatibel in google's app store. Im now runing the ChatON newest version, I love this app as me and all my friends use it as they have S3 mobiles. Im the first now that have got the sony xperia Z. My first inpresson will come later in a post I can write it in if I find a section to write my first impresion in.
Candy Crush Saga is also listed as incompatible on the Play Store. But if you download and install the apk, it works fine.
