[Q] HTC HD7 Android IOS - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I'm new. I want to ask if it is possible to get the Android IOS on an HD7 and replace it with Windows Phone 7.
Thanks
Sasobam

your makes no sense, please can you rewrite it?
What do you want?
put the FagPhone software on a HD7?
or install Windows Phone 7 on a FagPhone?
the 2nd option would make it a MalePhone...

I want to put an Android rom on the HD7 and overwrite the windowsphone rom or do it so,you can dualboot booth roms. Android and WinPhone.

the simple answer...
Sell the phone if you don't want WP7, the question had been written several times now and it's getting really boring to answer the same... it won't happen because of the security measures on the bootloader.
You want android? sell the phone and get yourself any android device you like...

yes android is likely to work on the hd7.
however no one has figured out how to install it and boot it..

Look out!!! A pig flying!!!...

If nobody noticed, the title was sarcasm...
If a WP7 hardware could run Android, where's the ROM? Where is the step by step process?
The bootloader in WP7 is so well protected that affirming that any WP7 hardware could boot Android is ****** up. it's just an hypothesis that since it hasn't been proved is just a good ideas that doesn't work.
I'm not a chef, not a hacker, I'm a user who waits till someone figure things out and test the discovery for the sake of learning, and later advice anyone who wants help.
I try to talk with my experience, if I fail, I try to learn from it. eg: the Half Bricked and Bricked bootloaders, I know this from first hand.
I don't talk fantasies, once I discover that something is false, I never claim that as real but a fake... eg: the Chinese HD7 that runs Android, that is a cheap knock off.
I never pose as a newbie when I know about it.
but with your postings...
You some times are a noob... eg: "How this can be done, please guide me" or "is this thing good for my phone" (yes you pretended to be a noob, I don't know if it was trolling or because you are such an *** or an attention *****)
Some times you are a master when it comes to ROM flashing... eg: "You must use the HSPL to be able to install custom ROMs" or "You must use y-Cable to downgrade your phone" (yes you helped some people with your very obvious experience, that is clearly not from a newbie)
You claim some things as real when they are already been known as FAKE, like your postings about WP7 hardware and Android.:silly:
when it comes to your "knowledge" dear sir, keep it real but if it is speculative(or your personal fantasies) keep it to yourself, and don't claim that I'm spreading lies about you, I've read every post you wrote about WP7, this three points about your behavior are VERY REAL!
Yes I'm sometime really cranky or even rude, this can't be avoided as sometimes the questions or the answers, like the previous one, are very stupid, but I try to stay true to the knowledge, because a lie can be disastrous if the idea behind it is (unintentionally) wrong or it is deliberated with malice to cause harm.
If you don't like what I said, just change for your own good.
GOOD DAY SIR!
PS: Any form of communication from you would be ignored(erased if possible). One can't take the risk that lying could be a contagious disease... (sarcasm)

help me please with 2.26 official update

before I do this update should I run awizard or lokiwiz to get a backup...
should I do this first just incase....
what about SIM/CID unlock should I do this first or will I still be able to unlock in the future after installing this update?
any help would be kindly apprecieated...
I am about to upgrade but I dont know what I should do...
thanks..
-James
If you want to upgrade but don't know what you should do, then why don't you start reading some threads on this forum?
When you don't know what you're doin' I can only give you the advice to leave it the way it is
It's not that I don't wanna help ya out, but read first before starting to do some experiments. There are enough people that made certain mistakes before you so just check it out
hey thanks...
I have been reading for a month now and everything seems to say differnet things... I have read nearly every thread on this forum just I learn better from hands on and I have not tried anything as of yet...
thanks for you kind help... im not a dumb ass who doesnt know how to read and doesnt know how to use the search feature... but thanks for your kind help..
@c-pimp ... speaking only for myself, I haven't answered your posts on this because it doesn't appear that you HAVE read through all the postings...
Let me lay it out for you and you take it for what it's worth.
First, if you're willing to take the chance that you MIGHT brick your device then that's YOUR decision. What works for one typically works for another but ... YMMV. No one here is going to accept the responsibility for your device. Most folks here suggest that you stay with your provider's upgrades. If you have such concerns then I don't think you're ready, my opinion.
Second, if you plan on doing anything other than an official sanctioned upgrade then you must CID and SIM unlock, period. This, if done correctly, is forever.
Third, what do you have on your phone that you need to backup? I've heard people speak here of taking 6 hours to rebuild their device after an upgrade and I've never understood exactly how it could take so long. Folks here have compiled very nice cabs with most of all of the registry tweaks one could need. I personally have a folder on my SC that contains all my necessary cabs, security certificates, etc. I'm down to an hour or so to completely rebuild a freshly flashed Wizard. The original ROM's are available so there's no reason to back that up. And if you are doing a major upgrade when you flash the restore will probably break your device as many registry settings, etc are different.
Anything else I can help you with, just ask!
And please don't take offense at me as I mean no harm and am not flaming you nor speaking out of spite.
That's what I meant as well, because you said "I'm about to upgrade, but don't know what to do?" I think that there are many people here telling you to leave it alone
It wasn't my intention to flame, not at all!
Like said before backups are very personal things. Some people want to backup their complete ROM while others just want a backup of the settings from their previous ROM. I one of the people that uses the last method. But I NEVER restore a backup from an old ROM onto a new one. That's because there might be some changes in the registry of the new ROM.
Second, I unlocked my SIM\CID almost the moment it was possible on this forum. Like said before, that's a one time operation
I run the latest t-mobile 2.26 ROM and didn't have to edit NBF files or anything like that. Just install and enjoy.
Once again, it was not my intention to flame. I think it's a bad thing when people say "I wan't to do this, but I haven't got a clue how to do it" to tell them just to flash their device or something like that. Because when it fails you would answer: "I bricked my device, thanks for your kind help!"
been playing with my phone so much I have forgot to respond to alot of questions I asked.... lol... sorry bout that... I wasnt tryin to be a **** when I responded either... I did read alot on the forums but then I would get stuck up on a random post and be confused if I should do something different...
like I said hands on is really the best way for me to learn and now im totally trying new stuff on my phone every day... so sorry if I sounded like a **** when I responded ( I admit I was a little frustrated with my day that day)
-James
@c-pimp - Glad you're on the path to enlightment
(and WE didn't think you were a ****!!!)
Best of luck!
The ROM issued by T-Mobile [2.26] DOES NOT require unlocking your phone.
Can you imagine all the people who own an MDA who have never been to this or any other "tweak" forum installing the ROM and not knowing about unlocking and then it bricked there phone? T-Mo customer service wouldn't be able to handle any other calls but theres.
So back up that puppy and get to upgrading...
One thing I noticed... I downgraded the radio ROM to 1.12 from the one supplied with the 2.26 ROM. So much better!!!

Sorry but I dont know what else to do

If this is a noob question I'm sorry I've been around these parts for a little while and even though i know how to root the G1 im having a hard time un-rooting it.
OK I just recently traded a buddy of mine's white G1 for my Bronze G1. Its a little ruff around the edges and its a little messed up so i was going to do a warranty claim.
I'm having an issue with trying to get the splash image to reset it self better yet I cant get it to work whatsoever. every time i go and do the whole
run
cmd
cd desktop
cd fastboot
then type "fastboot erase splash2"
It hangs there and just says <waiting for device>
I have done this and have changed my splash image on my bronze g1 a million times with no issues but for some odd reason its like it doesn't recognize this damn phone?
while I'm here I've also had issues after flashing the original spl and placing the DREAIMG.nbh file on the root of my sd card going into the bootloader and it not giving me an option to do the update. it just goes from the "rainbow" screen right back to the "rainbow" screen am i doing something wrong?
I would love to resolve this before my replacement comes in the mail just in case T-mobile feels like giving me $hit about the phone being rooted.
Once again I'm sorry if this maybe a misplaced post or if its a noob question but from what I've seen I'm the only person having these issues
Answers for unrooting are all over, a quick search would've yielded plenty of answers. Questions go in the Q&A section, this section is for devs and testers.
1. replace whatever recovery image you're using with the stock recovery image.
2. use the RC29 DREAIMG.nbh to downgrade the phone and "unroot"
3. pack it up and ship it.
This takes less than 5 minutes to do and T-Mobile gives you plenty of time to ship the broken phone, so need to do it before the new phone arrives.
As an aside, I know four people who've shipped rooted phones back to T-Mobile and never heard a peep.
EDIT: if your phone isn't seeing the .nbh file its probably because your SD card is FAT16, it needs to be FAT32.
I guess you must have only read part of what i wrote.
i know what I'm "supposed" to do I'm writing what my phone is doing while in the process. yes i know its only supposed to take 5 minutes and I have googled and have searched. I'm not being lazy if that's what you implying
you find somone or somewhere where someone has had the same issues and i will apologize. re-read my post then answer again thanx
p.s. and yes my sdcard is and has been formatted to Fat32

God forbid I placed this in the wrong section.
I figured, maybe a DEVELOPER might know the answer there for I posted it in the DEVELOPMENT section but forgive me father for I have sinned.
Please move my post so the people that obviously don't know the answer can stop coming in here.
Keep insulting people. That will get someone to help you really fast.
Try reinstalling your fastboot drivers. Its probably not recognizing it as its a different phone and has a different ID or something like that
if your not in here to help then why are you in here? people like you are the reason this forum is slowly going down. I'm just asking for a little help.

thank you very very much i will try that
I wasn't going to help you, but I decided I will since I am not a doosh. I had a very similar problem. I agree that reloading the driver is a good idea. But that wasn't all I had to do. I had to reload the driver with the latest driver from HTC. You can find it here. http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/adp.html
Thank you very much i appreciate the help and yes updating the driver worked perfectly thank you.

Bricking: What to know before you explore your device.

This thread was previous titled "How To Brick Your Phone" but because of confusion over the intent of the thread I decided to change the title.
I'm not sure if this would be helpful for everyone but I know some would benefit from knowing how one can brick their phone*. It may help early explorers to know what areas of their phone are for more seasoned SU's and what areas they can explore safely. So, if you know of a way to brick your device, please list it and give some detail leading up to the point of bricking**.
And if you have bricked your phone, please share your experience so that others do not follow in your steps.
* Please list ways to brick your phone other than using physical materials and not ways that are malicious in nature.
** Keep in mind, this thread is not intended for anyone to use as a way to defraud your carrier. The methods outlined are to serve as a warning on certain parts of the device to steer clear from (as a young learner) and to help people feel more comfortable exploring their phone's SU side.

+1 for this. It's the only way I've ever heard of someone truly "bricking" their phone.
Re: How to brick your phone.
This is the most common way I've heard of as well. Can a radio baseband be included in a custom ROM or is this something that has to always be flashed OVER a ROM?
The xda-wiki has a great section listing various radios that are for CDMA Heros. Anyone have the link? I'm on my phone at the moment.

Indeed. I would say even a medium-size car could do the trick. Unless you have Ghost Armor.
This thread is offensive
There are plenty of ways to render your phone useless, but why?
Unless you're trying to defraud Asurion into getting a new device...
ridiculous

Ahhh, that makes sense.
In that case I would suggest the OP change the thread title to "How to NOT brick your phone"
A list of things to avoid is simply another way of saying "a list of things to do."

I'm not going to change the thread title. The intention was to pose the question so people could STAY AWAY from those areas (ethereal45 hit the nail on the head). I'm not sure if there is anyone out there sincerely looking to brick their device. This idea is a bit ridiculous and if you're reading that into this thread you're clearly not seeing the ironic nature of the title Gunnyman's comment was completely sarcastic and funny (at least that's the way I took it in my reply...we're not trying to defraud anyone). But in all reality, no one is going to intentionally brick their phone. If they do, they've got issues larger than this forum can fix.
The intention is the opposite of what you're thinking. Just wanting to know what roads to avoid so that we don't brick our devices. I'm very fresh to this world and it can seem intimidating, so I thought this thread could help ease some of that anxiety.

This is like posting a very detailed guide on how to break into a computer, and then saying it's so people can prevent.
Sure, some people will use it for what it's intended, but there are people who will misuse it because there's something they don't like about their Hero, and want to get a refurb or new phone or something.

I find this VERY hard to believe. If someone is wanting to defraud their carrier and get a refurbished phone, do you think they will look online for how to 'brick' their root device? I doubt it. Why not just throw it in a pool or run over it with their car?
It's more like a help to not overheat your car. What are ways that you can overheat your car. No radiator fluid, running A/C through the mountains, etc. This is to give people a help on things to avoid. Sure, if someone has a desperate desire to overheat their car, they can follow the instructions and overheat it. But that's up to them.
I find that as I'm exploring the deeper side of my device, I'm constantly thinking thoughts like "wonder if doing this will brick my phone" and so I don't usually explore very far, because of this fear (and my wife and my conscience won't allow me to defraud Sprint, run over my phone and get a replacement). I'm just trying to be cautious that's all and wondering if there are any other ways (non-physical and non-malicious) to brick your device other than flashing a GSM Radio on a CDMA phone.

If thats's how I read it? That's what you said... "How to brick your phone".
You might be surprised how many people do intentionally brick their phones. You might also be surprised (if you did just a LITTLE bit of searching) how many threads have been closed because people are openly trying to find out how to brick their phones with the intention of avoiding the $100 replacement charge.

If that's the intention then I don't understand why you mislabeled the thread.
There are only 2 ways I know of to brick a CDMA Hero. They are very, very easily avoidable. You almost have to go out of your way to brick a CDMA Hero and if you READ about what you are doing to your phone before you do it you will easily avoid it. And for that matter, as long as you make nandroid backups, forget bricking, it's hard even just to lose whatever info might be important to you.
That's fine though, whatever floats yer boat. I am well aware of how to AVOID bricking my phone so I'll leave your thread alone now.

First of all, how am I going to find closed threads? Don't they remove them? I really didn't know people search on how to brick their phones with this intention. It seems asinine to me. Because a thread that says "How to not brick your phone" is a complete waste of time (which this thread is quickly becoming). There are way more ways to NOT brick your phone than to brick it.

What are the two ways?! I only know of one for the CDMA Hero (GSM Radio flashing to CDMA phone). This is what I'm talking about. You have information that I've been unable to find. Please share.
When you're learning about rooting your device and someone says "this procedure may brick your phone" your mind wonders, what is it about this procedure that may cause my phone to become an invaluable paperweight? That's what I'm after. From a previous forum, I learned that radios are something to be extra careful with. So, that got my mind wondering, what other areas should I be looking out for.
While I agree with the purpose of this thread, the title is a little confusing.
However, On a different phone (HTC Kaiser) there was an android port that I was interested in. I managed to brick that phone by running the sudo rm code in Terminal Emulator. While I don't know if it will brick a Hero it did brick the poor Kaiser. As it was an AT&T phone I had no use for it anymore and thought I'd give the command a try just to see the consequences.

I don't think that would brick it, as we could still access the recovery partition to nandroid back.

I will donate 200 bucks if somebody makes Android for hd7

I would donate 200 bucks or more if somebody makes an android rom for HTC HD7 and i bet a lot of others would donate also.
This phone is even better than hd2 why doesn't nobody want to start making an android rom for it, it shouldn't be that hard i guess.
But is the HD7 any better than a desire HD which already runs Android. I prefer the case design that's for sure - the hd7 is a pain to keep clean and the sharp edges are prone to chipping

Because most people bought the phone with intentions of using Windows Phone 7? You don't buy an iPhone to use Android do you? He is simply bringing up a valid point, the desire HD is better than the HD7 if you want Android.
Second, Windows Phone 7 is nowhere near as hackable or open as Windows Mobile on the HD2. It obviously is not that simple. Even on the HD2, it look a good half year before the early releases of Android on SD were even released.
Dacook2, all one has to do is look at your 6 posts on xda to find out who submits useless comments. First you want cab files now Android. You clearly never bothered to use the search feature, where these things have been addressed many times over.
Pro tip: do some research before you a) buy a phone and b) post troll crap on a developer forum. take your 200 dollars and buy a clue.

Why don't you just take those $200 and go register a new contract with your carrier for a new phone ?
Register with T-Mobile 2-years contract for an HD7, paid nearly $200 and then now begging someone else to make an Android for a Windows Phone.
If i don't mind, please allow me to ask you straight : "Are you $tupid?"

In the rules there is nothing that states about that i am not allowed to ask questions about HD7 phones and yes i have used the search button i couldn't find what i was looking for that is why i made these 2 threads.
If you don't like me that is another story pm your msn and let's talk it through but don't derail my topics saying my posts are useless of course they are useless to you because its my questions.
If somebody from you doesn't have something wise to say please GTFO of my topics.
I think the moral of the story is not to start new threads that have already been covered dozens of times.
You stated you searched for Android development but couldn't find anything, yet you posted on the "HD7 and Android" thread before starting this one? Also, when you created this topic, you must have seen where it lists topics of a similar nature?
It leads back to my question on your other thread to do with .cab files, did you not look into the phone/OS when you bought the device?
The key thing to remember is that this is a Developer forum.
Threads such as this are basically redundant. Asking questions or asking for help is fine, but requesting developers waste their time on porting over an OS that is readily available on a number of handset that look and act almost identical to the HD7 is holding back the development of this OS, which understandably annoys the Majority of us in the HD7 section.
Lets not just jump over board kids.
Donate someone to make android is quite silly. Again no one will believe such thing and 200 wouldnt be happy enough. You would donate more then 1,000 to someone but that again would be quite stupidty.. However i can understand your frustration as much as i am.
Windows phone 7 marketplace use useless wonders.. theres nothing i enjoy there for apps. I do more apps on the phone then making calls.
So lets fingers cross for android for HTC HD7 should we ? we are all together into this.
cheers
sandra
I have 39 post so you saying I'm trying to show off my count or bring rude is ridiculous.
I see a lot of good points in this thread. I personally would like to see HD7 get Android, even though there are better phones for running Android OS alone. However, I like to peak and tweak what I have, so I would enjoy having a phone running an os that isnt supposed to have it, with the option of going back (since I cant make up my mind, nor leave a perfectly good working phone alone for 10 seconds). I am currently running an HD2 with Typhoons Cyanogenmod, and I love being able to do anything I want to my phone whenever I want. I can't wait to get ahold of the HD7. I appreciate all the devs and all their hard work. I have gone through 5 different tmobile android phones in the last 6 months, and XDA has been THE site for me. I am currently trying to learn a bit about how the android os works (hardware handling, coding, etc), so I can add to the already awesome pool of devs that are here. XDA is the best, and I appreciate all the efforts.
I think we all need to remember what our mothers use to tell us "If you don't have something nice (or helpful) to say why don't you just shut yer' cakehole"
dacook2 is just trying to get something going on a great phone that won't let you do crap with it.
I think we should be asking Microsoft how the hell can they release a product that needs so much work......Hell i can't even go forward one song on my media player without unlocking my damn phone.

Remember kids. If wp7 doesnt get android for HD7 the only smart thinking is toi buy a tablet. with android built in. Never a tablet with wp7 obviously.
Tablets are now more and more available and relaly just the cost of a small price for a 10.1 sizes screen.
So we can get the tablet not an (ipad2) because are all not into apples. But a nice tablet 10.1 for android. And the phone HTC HD7 will just stay as it is with wp7 so there for u have android on the tablet and wp7 on the other device. And take the tablet around with you everywhere you go. After all a phone that that small screen is still really a small screen to beging with.
10.1 screen tablet will make you happyness.
You r going hard on him i think that his offer is good.sometimes we look for the change just because it's a change
it's not a matter of which is better wm7 or android but it's interseting to be able to use more operating systems on the same phone
Ha we're rude!! I point out to you that you're barking up the wrong tree trying to get Android running on the wp7 version of an Android phone and you start taking offence. You're just whinging because you bought the wrong phone

Excatly. I loved my HD2 and kept it for as long as I could before getting HD7. The only reason I run android on it is to see if I like it more then WP7.
All in all Android was good but interface speed was frustrating, so I tested Desires S in a shop and it worked the same way. Only now that I tested Motorola Atrix I would go with Android phone as it is easilly fast enough to run Honeycomb android on it. Normal Android is very fast on it.
You did not see what WP7 is about, what it can and can not do, what are the apps just went bought a fashion accessory like many iphone users do/did.

[Q] Installing android on Samsung GT-18750?

My friend had recently purchased a Samsung GT-18750 from another friend thinking I could install android onto it. After hearing his proposal to do so I thought It'd be possible but I knew nothing about Windows phones. So he had given it to me and I have had no luck in my search for installing android onto this phone. I understand that there are plenty of custom ROM's for it but I need android as you can't do much with a windows phone that you could do with an android, also that windows has no good apps or games that are at least common in any way. So I was wondering if there was anyone who could direct me on how to install android onto a Samsung GT-18750?
Is this another "hey I have a windows phone here that I want to shoe horn android onto" dude seriously go buy an android phone as there is a lot more android phones out there to choose some so this request pardon my lack of manners is just stupid

For now it's not possible because requires a signed custom ROM.
Actually there are no "real custom rom", only modded CSC file (configuration file for rom) that edit the Registry.

Anything that will put any sort of android on there. I do not care if it is modded or not real or rooted or it voids the warranty. I would just like to help my friend. The main issue is not having the android apps he wants. Even if there is some way to get android apps on there?

I'm sorry you were unable to read my post properly, but if you can't, can you at least notify us of that in your comment. I said my friend bought it, and he wants android on it, so in more English, I was asking if someone could help me get android onto the windows phone (Samsung Ativ-S) that .MY. FRIEND. BOUGHT. NOT, can you please taunt my on my lack of knowledge in the field of Windows Phones. If you have trouble understanding English please go here http://www.englishpage.com/

I have an android phone, I have a jflte with the Pacman 4.4.4 ROM. What the gentleman couldn't understand is it wasn't I that had purchased the device. And if he had read it then he would understand that from that post he could of never determined that I had not bought an android device, in saying that his implication was to say that I would need to buy an android device to get android. He did not read the post, and as it seems to me that you concludes that he had, then I am only to left to conclude that he has trouble understanding the English language in its full form, something else that lead to suggest his lack in understanding of English is the way he constructed his statement; although it may not be true, he himself left enough evidence to believe so. So you must understand that either he did not read the post or does not understand English.
