Suggestions please - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I own a sports publication and today I bought one of my writers the AT&T Galaxy Camera and added it to our mobile plan. We cover sporting events and I would like to get your suggestions on what you've found would be the quickest way to share pictures and video? Any suggestions on apps you use and features that we may want to consider.
We also do interviews and one of my goals is to have those interviews available live to our customers. Any thoughts on that? I was thinking something like UStream?

What do you mean share pictures and videos? Through social networks? Or pc to camera? Camera to phone or tablet?

It seems like this has not been done by others.
But technically, since the GC is capable of connecting to a mobile network, you can upload your pictures and videos to the Internet on locations that has connectivity.
So UStream app should work for your purpose depending on the quality of your video?
Uploading to YouTube from the GC is also easy to do.

Bump for Android

Didn't see a topic on this, did a search so apologies if there is one...
"Bump" that application that the iPhone adverts seem to feature heavily is now on Android. It basically just shares your contact info with another phone by "bumping them together":
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/1...ick-contact-sharing-app-not-iphone-only-anym/
Downloaded it today and it's pretty good, free aswell.
Seems ok. My only quarrel is it uses some internet service to store/transfer your contact info(is this how the Iphone does it as well?). I'd prefer it turn on and use bluetooth instead. idk just my 2c
Anyone know if we can or if sometime in the future we'll be able to bump android to iphone?

I'm pretty sure the current android app works with the iPhone app but the new iPhone app has some new features we don't have as of yet.

That program looks disturbing and sleazy.
1) by proximity I presume? then how do you know it isn't being set off automatically? I.e. on a subway when the train lurches and someone happens to be standing next to you...
2) goes through your whole contact list and compares them using a 3rd party service? Ouch -- SERIOUS security failure here.
can't find it in market. lots of stuff has disappeared? Camera Zoom FX, Snap Photo Pro, Mobile Defense. What the heck! Where did they go?

One App To Rule Them All - Pics

I take a lot of pics, and videos. I've got a 2 yr old and another child on the way, so my snap shots and videos are going to increase. I like to share this media with family across the country. But I dislike using two or more apps to do it.
I don't like the stock Android ICS gallery and although I do like the older 3D gallery, I dislike the lack of any real options. ie I want to be able to specify which folders it looks at.
Picasa is a great "picture sharing" platform but doesn't have the ability to upload/share video (as far as I could tell), nor is there a stand alone app for it....you need the stock gallery to view your photos.
QuickPic is pretty sweet, but lacks the ability to syn with Picasa. And, also is doesn't have its own upload ability. You need to upload to Picasa, Photobucket or the likes.
Photobucket has pretty great upload / sharing abilities but doesn't really function as a gallery.
Sooooooo considering how great the camera function is becoming in our phones, can't we just have one darn app to handle all of this?? Maybe I'm missing out on something, but I think we're still coming up short in this department.
That's kinda of alot to ask for, but we never know what the future holds.

What to do with old Galaxy S?

I just got a SGS3 and I'm keeping my SGS for now. Any thoughts on some cool or useful things I could do with it now that I have my SGS3? I'm willing to try almost anything but I haven't thought of anything that I can't just do with my SGS3. I'll probably try put Jellybean on the SGS before I try it on the SGS3.
One idea is maybe use it for a webcam. I don't have a webcam right now so is there I way I can use the rear camera as a PC webcam?
Throw out some ideas. Keep in mind I don't have a data plan or voice plan for it anymore but wifi is an option still.
Thanks!

I was thinking about something like that but I already have a GoPro camera for stuff like that.
Car GPS; or
Get 32GB/64GB SD card and make it an awesome portable music player
Load it up with customized ICS or JB.
Lend it to a less fortunate friend or family member who is stuck with Blackberry or iPhone.

By all means, send it my way.
I really do have unfortunate peeps I know who have BB or iphone. Unfortunate in that they aren't on Android.
What an amazing story it would make of international benevolence and sharing. Ok, maybe that's a little over the top.
But, I did live in Dorset for 14 months. May that sway you..
And if you ever visit Canada, you'd have a place to stay...
And I'll pay the shipping.
You can also use it as a NAS (if you load it whith a usb host enabled kernel) or torrent client.
I saw read somewhere that someone modded the camera to be a nightvision one (hardware mode) you could try that?

Clean flash and donate to a local charity of your choice
Why don't you donate it to a hardworking dev? I'm sure they could do something useful with the second phone.
The good first gen single core phones are starting to go off plan and turn up second hand. I picked up a Galaxy S Epic Sprint (the one with slider keyboard) last week at my favorite pawnshop for $60 mint, to mess with and use as a mini tablet. Apparently either the prior owner didn't deactivate it, or with Sprint (no sim card) once activated the phone works fine on wifi. First did factory reset, then rooted, now everything including GPS seems to work (other than the phone and cel data of course, at some point I'll install a Google Voice solution).
I'm using it as a middle of the night reader with a screen dimmer app. My wife has been bothered by the bigger screen lighting of the NC, so something smaller helps. Its a pretty good ereader/podcast player for this purpose. Lots of reader/news apps seem optimized for its WVGA screen, some have night mode. And I put a couple of games on it for the kids to use in the car instead of giving them my real phone.
Now I need to figure out something to do with the slider keyboard. Thinking maybe a remote keyboard app for the PC, anybody recommend an android app that will convert a slider keyboard to a remote computer keyboard through a network?
Hi,
Make a crach test movie
Regards,
I'd say put it away somewhere safe in case something happens to the S3 and you need a backup phone. That's what I'm planning to do with mine. My Galaxy S will be a backup and would be the one I would take on long hikes cause I won't be too bothered if I drop it, although I've kept it in mint condition.

Slaphead20 and skills have good suggestions.
Otherwise, I'd always planned that whenever I upgrade, I'd likely keep it for its amazing audio quality from its Wolfson DAC and Voodoo Sound; it's hands down the best portable music player I've owned. Plus, there was a good article on Lifehacker a ways back about people keeping older smartphones and iPod Touches with Skype on it to use as a 'house phone'.
sent from a telephonic device
You could send it to me lol I need a testing device but I'd say use for holidays and you don't want to risk the s3

[Q] Bit of a project...

I'm trying to make a cheap 'webcam' in order to see the mouth of my local river, in order to see if is worth me going out to sea to sail. Bit random i know...
I need to make a cheap camera which uses ip or video chat to link to the phones camera.
I was thinking of using a u8180 which i got for £19 and a solar phone charger ~£15 and placing these in a watertight enclosure.
The last piece of my puzzle is the software to use. It has to be android as the phone is android but what can i use to get the phone broadcasting video either back to the web or direct to my phone?
Someone suggested 'Tango' video chat but i'm not sure whether it will work for me. I was thinking that a video chat software with 'auto answer' would be ideal but i'm open to suggestions. I don't know whether its feasable to have the phone uploading to a website but this would be the best outcome as it would let other people view the feed.
Anyone got any suggestions? Ideally it wouldn't involve anything other than ready made applications as i can't code!
thanks!

Alternative camera apps?

Hey guys,
Been using the Note 4 for a couple weeks and like it a lot. Came over from the Nexus 6 primarily for the better camera and haven't regretted it (posted some of the pics I have been shooting in the general thread).
However, I notice that the stock Samsung camera app does not seem to apply image stabilization to photos - photos still come out blurry if subject isn't 100% still. I read that OIS is limited to video capture only?
I downloaded Google's camera app (which did an excellent job with stabilization), but it doesn't seem to do HDR on our phones.
Are there any other camera apps that do both HDR+ and image stabilization that folks recommend? I really like the Samsung app, but having image stabilization would be a very nice feature, especially since the hardware is made for it.
Thanks.
I like DSLR Camera Pro. I had a Nikon D60 DSLR and this app reminds me of it. Has a lot of good features and takes good quality shots.
Disclaimer: Not promoting piracy! Only a way of testing the app before buying. Use aptiod or Blackmart to test it out to see if you like it. If you do then uninstall and purchase through app store. If you decide it is not what you are looking for, then just uninstall and look for something more fitting to your taste.

Think what you want but I specifically said to uninstall after testing the app. I do not believe in the hassle of purchasing an app to just turn around and ask for a refund because I do not like it. If I test the app and like it, I purchase the app. If I do not like it, I still uninstall it because it obviously sucked. I see nothing wrong with that and in no way am I promoting piracy!

Camera FV-5, takes PNG. Much bigger 20.2 MB photos, better than your compressed JPG's.

Do NOT use aptiod or Blackmart, more than 60% of the apps on there have been modified and have malware and/or viruses added to the apk. Not a safe place to down apps if you want to keep any level of security on your phone.
