[Q] Focus S Backup - Samsung Focus S

I just bought a Focus S, wonderful device. Mine was already upgraded through Zune so no chance of unlocking it.
Does anybody have a Zune backup which can bring my Focus S to a firmware where I can run WindowBreak and unlock it.
Thank you.

ok, you cant do that im afraid
the Zune backups only work with the phone it was made with, there is also some evidence that the OS version may have an influence too
however, all is not completely lost, one of the Gods on here. Heathcliff74, maybe able to help you out soon, just don't go updating it any more for the time being

Chance for cooked ROM with USBSwitch-App?

Hi,
i have the following problem:
i have used the Chevron tool to deploy the USBSwitcher App to test the debug mode...
i have used the tutorial to prevent my hd7 from relock, but that doesn't work...
The application has been revoked and uninstalled :'(
So im stuck at the debug mode with no chance to change the USB-Mode...
Could anybody make a C-ROM with that app?
Or is it possible to use the Bootloader-Mode to install an xap to WP7?
i hope that somebody can help me
im really desperate... :'-(
custom roms need access to HSPL. We dont have access to HSPL yet
So is there another chance to go back into zune-mode?
I've no idea. There seems to be **** all development going on for HD7. Custom roms aren't available yet. Maybe some one else can help ya.
Sent from my HD7
maybe there is a way that someone make a backup of his phone while the USB-Switch is installed...
then i have the chance to set the mode to zune-mode again when i install the backup!?!?!
hope that sby can help me
Srry for doublepost, but:
Does anybody having the same problem tried to flash another Radio ROM?
did it work?
Yes I know about you trouble.
The only way is to unlock your device, with a super cid.
My friend had the same expr., and solved it.
Super cid unlock will display "security unlocked" on your bootloader mode.

how can we do that?
Sooo
i found out something interesting...
as this device is in qualcomm mode now i installed the Qualcomm Product Support Tool (QPST) and connected it...
it works...
so could anybody which knows that program make a backup of his phone (when the USb-Switch-App is installed) so that i can get back into zune mode?
Would be great to hear from you...
so now the first update is out...
could anybody give me an backup from WP7 with the USB-Switch App?
would be really great...
but be careful:
before you give the backup you must be sure that you don't have an live account assigned because i don't want to mess up anybodys mails (or even read it...)
would be great if someone could post an fresh WP7 backup with only USB-Switch app...
thanks

I dont know where you can find the SPL unlock service, in your place.
In China I only know one place named "Hua Qiang Bei" in Shenzhen City, which is one of the most biggest electronic market.
This unlock service only costs about 10USD, I have some friends bought HD7s from Shenzhen City, all T-mobile version and "security unlocked" shows on the bootloader mode. The devices are network locked when come from USA, I think this is the quicker way for the seller to unlock the network (SIM), by unlocking the SPL.
I heard that they use a set of HTC debugging or testing software to do it, which limited people know about it. Thats all i know.
oberoth, were you able to find a solution to your problem? I am in the exact situation and need dire help. I have spent too many hours trying to figure this one out.
Hi,
i haven't found s solution yet, but now there is RSPL/HSPL so maybe one of our great cooks can make a ROM with the USBSwitch-App?
Would be really great :O

developer unlock to full interop unlock ? possible after Tango ?

I've been running around in circles for hours, is it possible to go from a developer unlock to a full interop unlock -after- having updated to Tango 7.10.8773.98 ? I can load some XAP's, but root tools and wintt fail.
I had to format my PC and lost my backup.
I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I will be going to my local at&t device support center and getting my phone flashed. I'm hoping the guy there can use the oldest rom he has and or give me a copy of it. I'll post results.

no is the short answer if you have already got the newer firmware, the Windows build has little to do with it,although the tango builds do phone home to relock but that can be prevented
dev unlock is not interop unlock, which is needed to access high privileged functions
if you didn't update the firmware but you did let it relock then simply reapply the unlock and then apply the relock prevent xap, but I suspect you have already tried that suggesting you have the new firmware as well

perhaps ATT will flash the older ROM, I doubt it though and I doubt it even less that they would give you a flashable copy
but stranger things have happened so lets (hope) wait and see
Not what I really wanted to hear, but that's about what I figured/expected. I can't imagine going into AT&T & finding someone who had a clue about re-flashing a WP device.

change the device ID to a nokia
goto HKLM system platform
change OEMdevicename to Lumia 900
OemName to NOKIA ( that is case sensitive)
MODeviceName Lumia 900
that will stop the Samsung update notification and also let you use nokia apps
oh before you change them can you post what yours say? im curious about something

Update Samsung Focus S to 7.8

Hi, after hours of looking and trying update my phone, I find a program can do that the Zune it's not able, UPDATE YOUR PHONE TO 7.8. For those who can't wait windows or your phone carrier unlock your region there it's is the solution. Here is the file you need:
windowsphonehacker.com/files/seveneighter.zip ------------ Just copy the link and download
TESTED IN
SAMSUNG FOCUS
SAMSUNG FOCUS 2
SAMSUNG FOCUS S
HTC SURROUND
Good luck to everyone :good:
This looks interesting. My phone is currently unlocked and i'm able to tether without the ATT tethering plan. If I did this update do you know if my phone would still be unlocked.. with tethering working?
thx

I test this method in devices unlocked by a code that I bought in libertyunlock.com, the unlock it's permanent, the tethering otherwise I don't really know if you will losing it, because the devices that I updated don't have a jailbreak and by this method (unlocking by code) you need the At&t tethering plan to tether. I presume that making an update in a device jailbreaked you will losing it at the time your firmware change...
Sorry for not be more useful Greg
I can however help a bit more
upgrading to 7.8 will not permanently lock your device, it will however attempt to relock its self once its installed, this can be stopped by either applying the relock prevent xap again or by applying the unlock again
if you update the firmware then all is not lost, you can stil unlock or remain unlocked as mentioned above, if you hard reset though you will not be able to apply the dev unlock as you had originally done
course this is all academic now that all 2nd gen samsungs can be unlocked regardless of their firmware, search around the WP7 forum for the answers, it is harder than the original unlock by beggar's cant be choosers

Any idea on how to push an update and what the updates actually fix? I'm at 2102.11.10.1 on AT&T US, but on 7.8
The only noticeable thing I found was the keyboard lag was gone, I'm sure there is more but that was the only big difference I saw

demo content
i purchased a Focus S, and when i got it it was still locked. plus it seems to be in a demo-content mode. i would like to knwo why is this? plus i realised it couldnt update it via Zune, so i dloaded a program that allowed me to do so. now its running 7.8 but its still in the demos content mode. where it resets every 12hours or so.
is it possible to turn off this mode, or was i duped?

Good question, what is your OS and firmware version?
Demo mode suggests that its not a retail model, it may be lacking features.
however, if you are running exactly the same OS and firmware version then perhaps we can compare and find out what is making it restart. I suspect that its different versions though

Awesome! I now have 7.8 working on my Focus S with no problems to report.
Interop
This worked flawlessly on the first try for me.
one problem though (or question)...
i was attempting to do an interop unlock, however i forced another backup not realizing that the original 7.5 backup would have been overwritten...
since i'm now faced with the samsung wireless manager apn list being empty issue, how do i go about getting the software downgraded without the backup or getting the interop unlock without the samsung wireless manager blocking the entire process?

Use the new method of unlock on the wp7 root tools web site, it allows the phone to be unlocked even if you have updated the firmware.

Isn't this the method you're referring to? >>> http://wp7roottools.com/index.php/d...rop-unlock-for-2nd-gen-samsung-wp7-devices-v3
2 methods are listed here... both of which require an APN switch for the unlock to be complete...
Like it but I'm not sure if my phone is unlocked
I flat out ught the phone and got a Net10 unlimited card and it works well but I'm at 7.5 and 11.10.1 and I would like to update it but I'm not sure this is the way, Ive only had the phone a few days but I do want the newer software...your opinion will be helpful to the newbe

that's the one, I don't understand why your not able to change the APN, the wireless manager is still on the market place
the process of the V3 unlock adds the correct settings to the APN settings, so if you had problems before on the older update process, you should try the new one anyway

How to keep OP3 protected from any kind of theif flashing the device

I had kept my bootloader unlocked for flashing new ROMs but unfortunately i lost it on train and now i can understand that the theif can easily flash a new rom and so i can never retrive my device as far as i understood that i have to keep my bootloader locked but this means that i have to unlock and relock my bootloader each time i want to flash a new rom so this is very problematic for losing internal data too every time.
Also i don't have a job else i would have brought a new OP3T. I hope that in future OP can introduce some hardwire based tracking for lost devices , what do you people suggest?

I suggest that if the thief is able to flash a new ROM, he will be perfectly able to open the bootloader. So I recommend that you do not worry about having the bootloader open.
As for the tracking system, I think Google has already developed certain functions aimed at this use. When I have time I will investigate about this topic and update this post.
Please, be awere.

Try Google device manager. Thats the tracking tool you searching for. ?
not a big deal to reset FRP. Samsung and LG FRP takes only few minutes to be removed with z3x box. i think even stock rom have some bugs to bypass FRP. Best way is not to loose your phone.
It won't help you now, but take a screenshot of your imei, then back it up to your photos. If your phone is lost or stolen report it and depending on what country you live in, it will be black listed. Then it won't work on any carrier, no matter which rom is flashed.

Since I had kept my bootloader unlocked I believe that can easily flash a new rom so Android device manager won't be useful at all

Ya I know that I have already submitted FIR in police with the IMEI number but I believe these days they remove all the parts and sell the parts differently so very less chance in recovery

Huawei P9 (EE Network) EMUI 5.0 Update non existent?

Good evening all.....
I have already search for this amongst the forums but unfortunately I could not find anything so I am hoping you are able to help.
I currently own a Huawei P9 EVA-L09C440B138 with EMUI 4.1 - Android 6.0 Installed, locked to EE-UK. My partner has the same mobile but with a different network and she received the update to EMUI 5.0, Android 7.0, MONTHS ago. You may or may not have heard, all EE customers with Huawei P9's seem to be suffering from the same problem, and whenever we approach EE we get the same bull**** response "when the update is ready you will be notified", no timescale, nothing.
So my question is, is there a way I can bypass the standard update procedure as I fear I will never get that update, or am I going to have to be patient and wait until further notice.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks guys

Thank you very much for this it looks relatively simple to do but would you be able to advise me if I need any preliminary software or if I need to do anything prior to installing this update. Is there a plan B in case there is potential for my phone to be bricked. If I were to in future self this device to a shop would they be able to tell that this was not a genuine update directly from Huawei?

Nothing extra needed.
There's always a plan B, there's several threads on her for recovering a bricked P9.
If you don't tell them, they'll probably never notice.
