This kernel is based on Semaphore Kernel by stratosk with a few changes I felt to be missing in semaphore.
This kernel combines the speed and stability of semaphore along with few additions for the best combination.
It is compatible with all JB 4.3 ROMs based on official CM10.2 layout.
Kernel versions 2.9.0 and lower are compatible with JB 4.2.x.
Differences with Semaphore
Entropy tweaks
Patched for 720p usage
Kernel Samepage Merging (KSM) enabled
ZRAM enabled as module (usable via init.d script, attached below)

Yeah semaphore manager will control modules.
Id est quod est

Seem everything working good. Notice the camera and video recording much smoother now.

Please dont flash the 1.7 version , I messed something up. It wont boot up , and you will have to flash back to GB using Odin then.
I am making a fixed version now. Please wait for it.

Cheers , fixed version of 1.7 uploaded and added to OP. Let the download begin.

I removed the 1.7 version cause WiFi wasnt working for some reason.
I am working on it.

When I have an incoming call on 1.5 the screen won't turn on and neither will the key lights... On the latest CM10.1 nightly.

[KERNEL][DISCONTINUED] Quasar 2.2 v8 (for Nova & stock ROMs)

A quasi-stellar radio source ("quasar") is a very energetic and distant active galactic nucleus. Quasars are extremely luminous and were first identified as being high redshift sources of electromagnetic energy, including radio waves and visible light, that were point-like, similar to stars, rather than extended sources similar to galaxies.
~~~
Quasar is the kernel that comes with Nova ROM. It's based on LG sources but improved where possible and increased in features. It's a very progressive work. The first releases may also be experimental, we need to test out which changes are for better and which ones are for worse; I hope you can all help me with this task.
Now available for stock ROMs!
Download: Quasar v8 > DO NOT FLASH THIS ON NOVA
Instructions: Flash in custom recovery, no wipes needed. (For this version there's no OC support)
Ignore quadrant. It's unreliable and fluctuates a lot.
These things happen in the background.
It's daily usage that will tell you which one is better.
It is valid for load debian or ubuntu?
It's too troublesome.
The ramdisk for nova and stock is different and I don't feel like releasing 2 versions each time a new Quasar gets out. I could share the zImage and let someone else get it to a flashable boot.img though.
Basically I can't (rather shouldn't) install this update on Nova right? I checked Nova's changelog and didn't see the new quasar kernel listed.
All Nova ROM have the latest Quasar version, no need to flash anything.
The fact that you have launched Quasar v3 for stock roms... does it mean that finally is compatible with 10e rom version?
Will you try to make a new rom with this new base in a future?
Regards.
Core2Management:
Save your battery and disable the second core of your android device when you dont need it!
!- This app is only for dual core devices made by Samsung -!
This app should work on most android dual core devices from Samsung (maybe also on others but these are untested!). Please report on which devices the app works and on which it doesnt. You have to be rooted! Every time you reboot you need to redisable second core! If the second core starts again at some time use another governor. Not working with hotplug!
Tested devices:
* Galaxy S2 I9100
* Galaxy S2 I9100G
* Galaxy S3
* Galaxy S1
* Galaxy R I9103
* Galaxy Nexus
The app is working with stock cm10 kernel, too!
You can only flash this if:
-You have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi (also know as GT-P7510 or p4wifi)
-Stock version: you run a ICS stock rom (so not an AOSP/AOKP/CM-based ROM) - an stock-based ROM such as Infamous is also fine!
I have no plans to port this to other ROMs/devices, as I want to test everything myself and I only own an P7510 running Infamous v2.2. Feel free to port yourself, source can be found through the link given above.
There are some tweaks in Infamous Tab 2.2 to help with video streaming. Perhaps switch to that ROM if you're not using it now and flash this kernel over top of it to give that combination a try?
At least I am on Infamous, so I can't say whether the fact that YouTube HD works fine is due to infamous or due to the kernel :highfive:
I am on Infamous two too with mackay kernel.
Runs good, no problems
Hmm. for real? I want to be at ICS but because of Youtube, I am downgraded to honeycomb. So I don't know what has been changed on Infamous, but I might give it a try! Hope it actually makes Youtube HD smooth, because everyone tests with different videos, some people always say that they don't have Youtube HD lag, but some people test with a video that they always had lag, and other custom roms have the same problem so they say they always have youtube hd problem.
Anyway, I'll test both Infamous and this kernel in the weekend.
Again, thanks both of you guys!
I just have to say I reverted to 2.2 from IOSP testing to run this kernel. It is a thing of beauty!! Really well done K.
Sure thanks for that!
Here is a video of a music concert that I always use to test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSb5ZSnn2qs
I also posted this for others to test on a Q&A section for Galaxy Tab YouTube Lab thread, and while a lot of people had the same problem and had the lag and stutter problem, it was very weird that some people did not have any issue. So I'm curious what you will say.
Thanks!
Its hit or miss with me...most of the time things are fine but sometimes I have a stutter or two. It has been reported on other stock ICS ROM threads that this was a miss on Samsung's part, we can only do so much to help the problem. There are tweaks in Infamous 2.2 as I mentioned, but they most likely won't compensate for a larger issue.
I have been making ROMs & kernel for the Galaxy S phone for quite some time. I have also worked on porting this (CM10.1-based) ROM to the Galaxy tab. I do think, however, that CM10.1 is not worth it (for me!), stock ICS is faster/smoother. And I like the floating apps in the status bar.
I have started to port my kernel to the Galaxy Tab.
Features:
-Based on Samsung ICS update 2 sources
-Voodoo sound
-Enable USB charging
-XZ compression of kernel
-SIO scheduler
-BFQv5 scheduler (with upstream improvements)
-ROW scheduler (tweaked, default scheduler)
-many improvements to IO schedulers in general
-GPU overclock (based on A1 kernel)
-1200-1400-1600MHz OC steps (based on A1 kernel)
-150MHz underclock (based on A1 kernel)
-Voltage adjustment (based on A1 kernel)
-Improve memcopy/memmove
-Improve the performance of memcpy and memmove
-Kill task closest in size to memory needed to free
-LOAD_FREQ (4*HZ+61) avoids loadavg Moire
-Entropy tweaks: http://lwn.net/Articles/489734/
-arm/crypto: Add optimized AES and SHA1 routines
-build WWAN, NLS & NTFS modules
-CIFS included in kernel
-Removed MMC_CAP_ERASE (so safe for wiping)
You can only flash this if:
-You have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi (also know as GT-P7510 or p4wifi)
-You run a ICS stock rom (so not an AOSP/AOKP/CM-based ROM) - an stock-based ROM such as Infamous is also fine!
I have no plans to port this to other ROMs/devices, as I want to test everything myself and I only own an P7510 running Infamous v2.2. Feel free to port yourself, source can be found through the link given above.
Cool , so you have started supporting another of my devices eh. But I have the P7500 3G model , any chance you will make a version for that ?
Also how do you control GPU OC, which app do we need.
You can compile it yourself, just get my code from github and compile it with an appropriate defconfig.
I only compile for devices I own or have direct access to, because I only want to upload things to xda I have personally tested...that is my philosophy
GPU OC is one fixed setting, nothing can be changed.
How much is the GPU stock clock and OC clock.
I will try to compile for P7500 next month then ...
BTW can I flash the P7510 version for testing atleast , maybe I would lose connectivity ?
I read that P7500 users could flash P7510 ROMs but modem would be unavailable
So the base is A1 Kernel. And AAccount oc'ed his kernel up to 400MHz. It hink its the same in this kernel. Stock is 333 or 300MHz. You can check it yourself, but i dont know the folders to look for right now.
OC/UV is all taken 1:1 from AAccount.
Look at this commit:
https://github.com/kasperhettinga/p4wifi_stock/commit/29e8db7350bb605d7808f82dabe1e3f7912a1521
and then this file:
arch/arm/mach-tegra/tegra2_clocks.c
line 2519/2681 show the increase in GPU clock from 300 to 400MHz
Good to see you here.
Great work, glad to c the 8013 support. Thanks!
Tapped from an annihilated N10.1
What about - hyper - govermor ?
I have it in my sgs 2 and is working the best for me.
Low states and smooth.
Bro I flash it on N8010 and the kernel is too smooth and great but I have a question that when I benchmark my device i score only 3667 without any power saving mode
Benchmarks mean 0 hahhah.... I like to see the actual feel and performance of the device with the kernel
got this on my 8013 and although it is fast and smooth, i lose wifi. it acts like it is connected, but no traffic will go in or out. if I restore to stock kernel, my internet traffic will be fine.
anything i can do to help find why this is happening? (I am on Hyperdrive ROM - also using the kernel installer on that ROM causes this issue)
everything was installed on a clean wipe
Which tool you recomend to oc kernel?
Will I able to use apps2sd script after flasing this kernel?
The rom @civato made does not come with this kernel. You will not be able to use Synapse until you flash this kernel.
I guess this is only working for P900, not P905?
It is stated that way in the OP.
Civato,
Thanks for this great kernel and hard work! Installed on my rooted P900 and works so far great. AND it fixes the BT issue with the Logitech keyboard.
Yes. Civato amazing work, logitech keyboard working great with this!
Yes this kernel fix the Bluetooth Problem.
Hi Guys,
Can someone help with a quick install steps list for newbie like me from stock tablet?
I've downloaded both the kernel and source file and put them in the SD card.
I've started under custom recovery mode and selected update from external storage in the menu, and run it for both file but I've got nothing different afterwards and still the famous Bluetooth issue.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
What do you mean by screen flickering? Does the screen actually shut down and (then) you have to (manually) switch it on?
Also since custom kernel created the issue to you, why did you "switch back to custom kernel"?
No, I don't must switch on manually.
The screen flickers an half second to black and comes back from self -> it flickers
With stock Kernel and also with 1.8 Kernel the problem is gone.
Tested yesterday with 15% Accu. Everything is fine now. [emoji106]
Edit: I mean "switching back to stiock Kernel" sry for irritations [emoji6]
