[Q] Suggestions for higher charge battery? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I use my phone alot for work, and I really need to get more juice out of it. I've tried changing sync settings and using battery stats to check app useage but battery life is still a bit lousy. Anyone got a suggestion for another battery for it?
Thanks

If your phone is not always wifi on. You can try juice defender from google play.

Samsung original 3000 mah battery with replacement cover. The only draw back the phone becomes a little heavy and 3 mm thick.
Btw I'm selling mine since I would like to have a lighter phone with less battery life. . pm if interested.

Don't wanna advertise it, but i installed smabergs "X-Power" rom from dev-section one and a half week ago and experienced a much lower drain on battery since then. Maybe it is a try for you too?

How lousy? 5? 10? 15hrs? Sometimes people expectations are too high....
There's many ways to improve your battery life. Look around or get extra one.

You might just need a new battery man. Im OC'd to 1440 and im still getting a good 12 hours with heavy use.
I've been finding that it takes me 3 or 4 full cycles for me to get my battery life back after switching kernels or roms. Out has been the same with my wife.

Make sure you are killing your apps and run less widgets. Like said before it takes a few days for your battery to work properly, you can also look in to recalibrating your battery as well.

you may also want to try doing a master clear if you haven't done that in between switching ROMs. sometimes that will help with random battery drain.
If your really that worried find an AT&T device support center and tell them you would like a new battery because you do not believe this one is holding a charge like it should. I've done that and gotten a couple new ones no problem. Or you could try calling 611 and have one sent to you. Of course dont say anything about your rom switching.

Give that a try. I dunno if it's true or not as I never realized that the different charging speeds has an effect on battery life.

I would, but I left my phone in my pocket one day when I ran. The heat from my body caused the liquid indicator red. and I know what they are gonna say cause att is a bunch of aholes. And I'm gonna try that different charging thing. I also ordered new batteries off eBay. I kinda wish I double checked them cause they aren't OEM. Has anyone ever tried a battery that isn't OEM?

Try continuum's 6.1. Its a jvq base 2.4. Sence I switched to them I've had no battery bug. It also uses the talon kernel that's designed for just that rom. Its a great combo.
I had a bad week with Continuum, though I think it was the I9000 bootloaders or just a bad flash. When i say bad poor battery life (8 hours with network and wifi off and most of the time on standby) and general lagg all around.
When you're switching ROMs and kernels, you're supposed to re-calibrate your battery.
Try this method here. If you're on a 2.3.3 ROM, it probably won't let you clear your battery stats file, so you can download the "Battery Calibration" app from the market.

IMHO, I would NOT use a NON-OEM battery. Stick with OEM and make sure to fully discharge your battery ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 0%. I have consistently had battery issues... poor life, not charging up to 100% or if it does charge to 100% once I unplug the charger it would immediately drop to 98% or 96% - all due to constantly charging the battery. I also read on these forums that when changing roms to wipe your cache & battery stats via CWM. Also, turning off background sync and stopping your email and apps from constantly syncing all day REALLY makes a difference in battery life too along with obviously not using 300 widgets at once, etc. Even the old 'recalibration' technique suggested on every Android forum didn't really work for me either. I recently bought myself another new OEM Samsung battery and fully discharged it by running it all the way down to 0% and that has greatly improved my overall battery life.

Same for me. I'm on my fourth after flashing cm7 nightly 48. I've been charging to full before each flash, and that helps a bit.

[Q] Dead Battery?

I'm pretty sure my stock battery has died after just over a year of usage. However I just wanted to check with you guys whether it's actually flat or if my phone is faulty. The battery will last about a day with minimum usage, but if I turn on wifi or data it will literally die in a matter of minutes? This is the same with every rom and I wipe battery stats. So would buying a new battery solve the problem?

Is the shape of your battery regular??
If not, change your battery not rom.
Note:due to overcharging, shape of battery may change, happened with me.
Minimum usage would drain battery so fast to 0%.

Sorry, shape of my battery? What do you mean by that?
Your battery has been heavily used. It's life is over. These are the symptoms of a nearly-dying battery. When you replace with a new battery your phone will function like normal again.

U can test the phone if is he draining power too much whitout buying a new Sga battery. If you can find some battery like Nokia bl-5c(i use it sommetimes) or some battery similar pins (+//-) to fit it in and try it on.
Test old sga battery.
Try to charge your old Sga baterry in a univerzal charger,do not worry abouth overcharging beacuse it got to protect it.

Ravpower extended batteries

Hi guys..wanted to know if anyone of u uses ravpower extended battery? Its 6200mah and is only $20 on amazon. I wanted to know what kind of battery life ur getting with it. From my side I get pretty good battery life. I am using for like 4days. Charged it only twice. But my problem is that its not that well calibrated. Sometimes on one percent it stays like for 10mins or more and sometime on a certain percent it stays less while doing the same thing. I already calibrated it with battery calibration app found on playstore. But I dont think it really calibrated it. So can anyone who uses this battery tell me if its the same for them. And can anyone tell me a good calibration app. Here are some screenshots of my battery life it. Thanks for reading and hope someone can enlighten me on this.
Btw..with the 3% that remained in the screenshots..it could last like 40mins or more. Thats wat getting me crazy! oh and am using phantom v4 rom.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Free mobile app
General rule of thumb with batteries is you get what you pay for. $20 isn't much...
The erratic percentage you're seeing is due to inconsistent voltage output from the cells - a classic telltale sign from low-quality batteries.
Best case it is just gets worse and worse till it dies.
Worst case is you have a cell short and the battery catches fire. No, I'm not exxagerating, I lost a dslr to a cheapo ebay battery that did this.
Honestly, I'd ditch it entirely and fork out for a seido or something.
I re calibrated it..and it seems a bit better now. But all the comments on amazon are so good. Duno..maybe ill use it till I sees it starts to get bad. Then ill ditch it before it burns everything.

Gonna need more info than that. You talking screen on time? or total? under what settings? full screen brightness?
Yeah screen on time with auto screen brightness. Pretty much on LTE all day. Only disabled bloat apps.
Full day with it, unplugged at 3am and at 8:38pm cst, I am still at 48%. Now I don't use facebook or Tweeter so that helps my battery life. Wifi at work weak and slow so I am on LTE most of the time.

Same here. Only around 4 hrs with regular use. This device needs root.
Easily getting through a day with the phone. Most of the bloat disabled, moderate usage, Bluetooth/NFC/Wi-Fi always on, though mostly on LTE. I certainly don't expect this thing to last like my Note 4, but I'm pleased with the battery life. I get home with time to spare, and plug it in every night like any other phone, so its all good.

Root doesn't mean better battery life. My nexus 5 had about the same battery and got about the same battery life as my s6. And that's rooted, stock, slimrom, and cataclysm. My G3 has about 500 more mAh than the s6 and I get about 5 hours of screen time. Stock battery was better than cyanogen battery.
It's not 2012 anymore. Root is almost obsolete. It's good for app removal, rooted app functionality, and customization. Even if underclocked and undervolted it doesn't change dramatically. If u want a better battery, buy a phone with a bigger battery. MOST people don't look at their phone for 25% of their awake hours (if avg sleep is 8 hrs.) The s6 will give u 3.5-4hrs of screen time on 14-15 hours of use. That is plenty for MOST users

We badly need root. Rooting my phone has always improved the battery life and performance of your phone.
Battery life today was better I think. Screen-on time didn't even show up in the battery usage list, so i'm not sure how much it used. 20.5hrs since unplugging with 14% left.
This will definitely be a phone I'll have to get rid of after a year. With constant charging and a sealed battery, this device really doesn't have a long life. That's my main concern.
Someone in another thread turned off Enhanced LTE (Voice over LTE) under network settings and saw a much better battery life (or lack of drain).
I am experiencing insane WiFi battery drain. I am foregoing the use of WiFi in the mean time. Seems to help.

I updated mine plus turned off Wi-Fi and the hotspots setting in advanced Wi-Fi and battery life has improved. I still see screen as being one of the lowest factors for battery consumption. Our gs6 must have a very battery efficient display. Android os is now my top battery drain. I'm hoping an update to android 5.1 improves the system battery usage. I know it did on my nexus 6.
