help installing CM10 on htc vivid - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

im trying to install CM10 on my HTC Vivid. i have the most recent nightly CM10 file for holiday downloaded to my computer, but last time i tried installing it, i didnt have proper directions and it messed my phone up. I was wondering if anyone here could guide me through how to properly prepare my phone for install and how to install CM10?

Y u post this in dev section if you don't know how to do something as simple as flashing a ROM you shouldn't be modifying your phone. There are plenty of guides throughout the internet just search

(Q) Ubuntu development

Hi just wanted to see if any Deva are still trying to compile Ubuntu for out device as I found this post in the nexus s development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38393990
and since it is nearly identical hardware in both phones I wondered
1) is any one still working on this
2) what's the worst that could happen if I flash it to my i9000 as I have used ROMs which cause my PC to recognise my phone as a nexus s in the past
Thanks for your time

Thanks for the tip on this, it runs as good or better than any other AOKP based rom that I've tried and I really like the theme. The new ribbon format is awesome! Don't know if ATGAdmin browses this forum anymore but I've downloaded the 5/23 gapps 4 different times (yesterday & today) and it comes up corrupt and won't flash.
Upon checking with Winrar, it seems that the META-INF folder with the script is the culprit. I got around this by extracting everything but the META-INF folder and then archiving it in the 5/18 gapps replacing everything while leaving 5/18 META-INF intact, this worked great.
So dparrothead1, thanks for the heads-up and ATGAdmin, thanks for the terrific rom. Hope you decide to give the forum another chance and reopen your thread.

I've been trying to get in touch with him. His XDA pm is not accepting msgs and his androidhosting site has no contact info.
He has a a 5/24 update so it looks as if he is updating along with the AOKP nightlies. As much as I like this ROM, I'm having a hard time using something with no support.

I was just in a mini dialog with him in another forum for the new Hisense Sero 7. I told him about my issue with the 5/23 gapps but he told me that he's flashed them many times with no problem. Maybe they became corrupt afterward because there's definitely something wrong with them now. I remember reading last night that the host had a power outage around the time I was downloading, maybe the file became corrupted on the server.
Anyway, as I mentioned I worked around the gapps and the 5/24 nightly is working well.
Here's a link to the posts with ATGAdmin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41798468&postcount=28
EDIT: Here's the latest post from ATGAdmin, he uploaded a new gapps and all is well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41800432&postcount=31

I'm not using this ROM. The ROM creator has made it fairly clear that he is not going to support this on XDA.

Can't install some Roms.

So far its been asop Roms. I tried to install a few cm nightlies and pacman ROM and I get installation aborted and a status 7 error, something to do with m7 buildprop. Something or other. Never had trouble in the past installing these Roms and yes before someone asks I always wipe.

I will not recommend using a toolkit at all. Just learn how to use fastboot. It is very very simple. And it is, after all, "the right way".
1. Always search the forum BEFORE making a new thread.
2. Using a toolkit is cheating, and you will learn nothing.
3. Using commands on the CMD line is far better because you get too see the outputs in their raw form.
4. Again search before posting! I can't stress this enough.
If you need any help, throw me a PM and I'll reply back, in my own time.
Learn your fastboot commands, there are more than plenty guides around on XDA to help you with that.
Actually, in the fastboot CMD window you can type something along the lines of "help" and it will show all of the possible and usable first commands.
Downloading android SDK is a very big.so I just prefer toolkit.and toolkit saves lot of time...but I need to learn how to use cmd...
