Google Wallet Working on ATT using Xperia Z - Xperia Z Themes and Apps

I have always been big fan of Google Wallet. I had it working on my Note 2, S3, etc. I recently pick up Xperia Z and wanted to see if i was able to get it to work. Last night, i went to 7/11 and bought a drink, the guy behind me was blown away just the fact that i use the phone to pay it..I am on ATT. I've search in the app section for google wallet and no thread about it and wanted to share my experience.
I want to let you all know that i take no credit for this. All information i got is from that XDA and from prereq step 2. Also if you are on corp email, i would suggest remove it and re add after you get google wallet working.
Warning..if you don't know what you doing, please don't do this. this can cause bootloop and many other stuff. Precautionary, please back up..back up...
Here is how i got it to work.
PreReq
1) Phone rooted
2) go here and download latest google release from Modaco. Currently it should be r96-v13.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083
3) root expolorer - please use this only otherwise you will get boot loop. For more information, follow thread in prereq 2.
Setup
1) Use root explorer and mount as r/w
2) go to /system/ and look for build.prop
3) open with text editor in Root explorer
4) within the file, search look for ro.xxxx, not ro.sem.xxx. look for exactly below.
ro.product.device=c6603
ro.product.name=c6603-1270-7689
ro.product.model=c6603
and replace with
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
5) put the application from prereq step 2 to /system/apps and set permission to 644
6) go to setting,more and check nfc and under wallet select google
7) reboot
8) launch google wallet and follow direction
9) after you get google wallet to work then launch root explorer
10) go to /system and rename the build.prop to build.prop.ori
11) rename build.prop.bak to build.prop
12) reboot
13) money
Please note that i did the exact step and it work for me. I have the xperia z c6603 and i am on ATT. Again i take no credit but just reading up on xda. IF anything, thanks OP in the link i provided.

I am using Xperia Z on Straight Talk, I just installed Google Wallet from Play Store, however, I got a" Google Wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network"
Is this gonna work?

I have this problem after I try to install google wallet
Also what is mean set permission to 644???

In root explorer hold down on file and go to permissions
4 is read
5 is read/execute (execute is always needed for directories)
6 is read/write
7 is read, write, and execute
The first number is Owner, the second is Group, and the third is Other. Thus 644 is
Read Read Read
Write

can you do a video on this? and does this work on T-Mobile on C6602?

9) after you get google wallet to work then launch root explorer
10) go to /system and rename the build.prop to build.prop.ori
11) rename build.prop.bak to build.prop
I did steps 9-11 and changing build.prop BACK to the Sony settings breaks Google Wallet again, you need to keep the modified version w/ the Google Nexus settings for it to work after a reboot. I tested this and can confirm it works.

Works like a charm!
Works as advertised except that you may not need to download the Google wallet app from modaco as stated above. I did a search on playstore and got the latest version of Google wallet and at first, it allowed me to download it and install but I couldn't use it. I then just changed the name of the model, device etc... and rebooted and it worked!!
Cheers.

Got problem with making payment.
Hey mad, im not sure u can help but I do need advise here. Mine is c6602 and im on tmobile 4g. I do all the steps except steps 9 to 11. The build.prop need to be kept as edited to make it work so I can open the app. Finally I get it and I tried the app. See a little yellow title that unsupported device on top. I added and selected my credit card. Then I went to office depot and tried it. With data network on, I make payment and everything go throught and it seemed I got transaction declined. I dont know what is the problem here. Is the rooted z rejeted by wallet recently or. Because of the carrier or the store system?
I really want to use the app so if u know the solution here plz show us.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. I have done this with every ROM I've installed on my Z and it worked every time. I am on AT&T, but I'm not sure if that matters. I even have a corporate Gmail account on this phone and it was unaffected by this process.
If you have trouble, you need to start all the way over. Remove the app from /system/app, fix your build.prop, and reboot. Then start at step one. It works even when you change your build.prop back to the Sony values if you follow the process correctly.
I have Niaboc's ExistenZe Ultra installed, Android 4.2.2, and this still works, just tested now.
If you get tired of the Play Store offering to update it, use Titanium Backup to disassociate it with the Market. You may have to do this several times, but it will stick eventually.
I should mention that com.android.phone complains and fc's a couple times at boot now, but it doesn't seem to cause any ongoing problems. Calls and SMS work just fine. All networking and telephony works as expected.
This same process worked on my Xperia ZL, my Xperia Acro S, and my Galaxy Note 1. Oh, and my Nexus 7. And the Note 2 while I had it.

I'm not sure if the exposed modules and framework are compatible with this phone or not, but you could try installing the exposed framework and the google wallet patch module.

[MOD] GS3 SecEmail.apk & Exchange.apk with Exchange Security Disabled

This was cross-posted in the US GS3 forum, but I figured you international guys might want this as well.
Below are the Mail and Exchange apks for the S3 with exchange security disabled. This is for those who use exchange support at work, but who hate entering a pin or password every time they want to unlock their phone. Many of us use low-level security corporate exchanges that don't require a pin, so the apk files below remove that security.
DISCLAIMER: If your place of employment's exchange policy requires the use of a pin, please be advised that use of these apks may be punishable up to termination of employment, as well as other possible legal action. Some companies take their exchange security VERY seriously and this mod is only for those whose policy does not require a pin but are unnecessarily prompted to enter one anyway. Please speak with your IT department before using these files as I will not be held responsible for any mis-use of this app or any collateral damage that may ensue. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. In the event you need to get back to stock, I have also posted stock apks below which will get you back to stock. Download the 'Return to Stock' link, unzip the downloaded file, and then just push them to /system/app/
1) Delete any exchange email accounts from your phone and remove any shortcuts to the mail app from your device
2) If applicable, remove any exchange administrators from Settings -> Security -> Device administrators
3) Download the 'Hacked Mail apks' file linked below. THIS IS NOT A FLASHBLE ZIP. The apk files were just too big for XDA's upload limit and so I had to zip them up and host them online. Once downloaded, unzip and grab out the 2 apk files inside (SecEmail.apk and Exchange.apk)
4) Mount your phone's system as R/W (either using Root Explorer or 'adb remount')
5) Copy the newly downloaded SecEmail.apk and Exchange.apk files to system/app/ via root explorer and overwrite the older file if/when it asks, or you can just push the files to system/app via adb
6) Set permissions on both apks as rw-r--r--
7) Reboot
8) After reboot, create a shortcut if you want and then open up the Email app and set up your corporate account.
7) You will be prompted to enable security policy midway through... this is normal so hit 'OK' and it will not ask you to enable security any further.
As previously mentioned in the disclaimer, you can use the Stock apks to get back to stock if you run into any issues. Just download the 'Return to Stock' link below, extract the 2 apks out, and follow the same process as above.
Donations always appreciated. Enjoy

where in you can still choose to do patter lock. after adding an exchange account.
the mod for SIII disables all types of lock aside from Pin and Password after adding an account. although you can add a pattern lock before adding an exchange account and it still works.

This mod disables thr EXCHANGE administrating those locks for you, it doed NOT affect your ability to setup a lock on a device on your own, in any possible way. In fact, replacing just the apks mentioned, it technically cannot do anything to affect it.
Thanks a lot for that man. What about jellybean I be seen the exchange.apk became exchange2.apk
Is there a difference?
Working great, just needed to delet odex files

Install whatsapp on wifi only Galaxy TAB 2 7" w/o rooting your Tab

This is for ppl who are facing issues because of blue stack, apguard or getting error messages like "tablet not supported", "it looks like your client has been modified". Please follow the below steps. I tried today and it worked perfect. No need to root your tablet. For easy understanding, I have colored the text :- Red-Things that are to be done on phone . Green-Things that are to be done on tablet
1) Install Carbon backup app from play store on your android smart phone and on your tablet. My android smart phone is rooted [it should work in non-rooted smart phone as well]
2) Take a back up of whatsapp and select the option to save it on your external SD card.
3) Now move to your tablet. Take a backup of any app. In my case, I took the back up of Temple Run2 and select to save the back up in your external SD card. This is mainly done to create the Carbon backup folder structure.
4) The back up would be available under /ext_sd_card/carbon/
5) Now back to your smart phone- copy the complete carbon folder under /ext_sd_card/carbon/ and upload it some where. You can use some file manager like EXexplorer to do this for you
6) Moving to your tablet, download the carbon folder you uploaded in your tablet and replace with the one that is already existing on your external SD card.
7) Open Carbon application and restore whatsapp
8) It will ask you to install whatsapp from play store. I would recommend you to download the apk and install it.
9) Select restore option again and restore whatsapp data
10) Now you can open whatsapp with the same state as you left it on your smart phone. I mean the messages
Please note : Whatsapp can be attached to a single number only, so please uninstall it on your smart phone after the above process.
If you want to use a different number on your tablet, then follow the below steps after Step 10.
Send one or two messages to your friends.
12) Uninstall whatsapp and install it again.
13) Restore the back up again from carbon app.
14) Open Whatsapp, you will be asked to verify your number.
15) Enter your new number and select Ok. Please make sure that the new number is in working state i.e. the SIM card is inserted into a phone and can receive SMS/call
16) Whatsapp will send the verification code to your new number.
17) Wait for sometime and you will get the prompt on your tablet to enter the verification code.
18) Enter it and enjoy
Good, but there is any way of doing that without an Android smartphone? Will the Bluestacks or YouWave works?
Blue stack worked for many but it did not for me. Not sure of you wave.

Some info about Whatsapp before I answer your question.
1) You can TAG one Whatsapp account with one Phone number only
2) If you try to configure Whatsapp with a already tried phone number, then it would stop working in your previous device. [rather it asks for re-verification of the number in your previous device]
Coming back to your question :
Scenario 1 : Lemme assume that you have
* smartphone [android] with Whatsapp configured with your phone number [eg. 12345].
* you have ANOTHER active phone number [eg. 6789] which can receive SMS.
Then go ahead with the above steps and configure the other number [eg. 6789] on your tab. Now you can enjoy Whatsapp on your Smart phone [with your old number i.e. 12345] and your Tab [with your new number i.e 6789] simultaneously.
Scenario 2: Let us assume you have
* smartphone [android] with Whatsapp configured with your phone number [eg. 12345].
* you do not have an alternate active phone number.
Then go ahead with the above steps and configure whatsapp on your Tab with the only phone number [ i.e. 12345] you have. But after configuring, you will loose whatsapp on your smartphone.
You need not have your smartphone with you every time when you use Whatsapp on your Tab, in any of the above scenarios.
Please let me know if I answer your question and hit Thanks if it really helped you
Cheers
Thanks! Really helped me

WHATSAPP regarding
I am not able to install the APP (WHATSAPP) in my device Samsung Tab GT-P3110 without 3G build no JZ054K P3110DDCMA4...NOTE: I have tried the carbon backup trick its backing & restoring the APP data (not the App).The restore is also with errors as it cannot see the APP in the device.... it asks for app but playstore wouldnt allow (it says the device not supported). However the App is installed from other way .....but would not continue to work . It stops & says (unfortunately its stoped).
Show me the way how to override.....& make the play store to allow install the APP.

[HOW TO] Note3 Playstore/Samsung Apps Spoof

Alright guys, Iv figured out another nice little mod to view both Samsung Apps & Google Playstore as a Note 3 on your mobile device, in my case my Galaxy S4.
You might be wondering why we would even want to do this ? At this stage Note 3's have access to exclusive APK's for example the app "Atooma" for the gear !
Your mobile device MUST be rooted. Also please keep a backup of your original build.prop.
Also I cant confirm this works on every device, although works perfectly fine on my Galaxy S4 i9505.
So lets dive straight into it.
1. Open/pull "/system/build.prop" from your rooted mobile device using a root file browser or adb.
2. Open file in a text editor.
3. Replace the default lines with the following:
Code:
ro.product.model=SM-N9005
ro.product.brand=samsung
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
ro.product.board=MSM8974
ro.build.description=hltexx-user 4.3 JSS15J N9005XXUBMJ3 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/hltexx/hlte:4.3/JSS15J/N9005XXUBMJ3:user/release-keys
4. Save changes.
5. Set permissions to your modified build.prop if they do not match with other files in the /system directory.
6. Navigate to "Settings -> Application Manager -> All -> Google Playstore" and "Clear data", "Clear cache" & "Force Stop".
7. Restart device.
You will now have access to Note 3 exclusive apps, I recommend downloading the apps you want and reverting the changes you have made to the build.prop.
What I have done is kept a backup of my original build.prop in the system partition and I just swap them around when I need to by renaming & restarting, remembering to clear data & cache of the Playstore !
Remember to hit thanks !

I use root explorer, which includes a text editor.
I would recommend pulling your build.prop to your PC tho, so you can simply copy & paste.

just tried and when i try to replace the build with the modded one it wont keep the mod it reverts back to sgh-i337
im using 4.2.2 i think thats my problem.
thanks for the intel i will try it again when i get 4.3http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
If this works with earlier versions (pre-4.3) then this would remedy the issue that I and so many others have been having
with the Gear Manager application where it won't sync with the watch because it detects that you are using an "unsupported device".
I might try this out sometime...

[Q] Tethering Disabled

I just upgraded from a S2 Skyrocket to a S5 Active running stock 4.4.2 on ATT, and realized that in the last couple years ATT must have caught onto the simple uninstall TetheringManager.apk trick to enable tethering. I have rooted with towelroot (easiest root I've ever done!) and I've cleaned off most of the ATT garbage from the phone, but haven't been able to figure out how to get tethering working. I read through this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535141 but since it's for the S4 I assume the apk won't work for me.
Can anyone point me to a set of instructions that apply to the ATT S5 Active?
And before anyone tells me to pay ATT, I have a really old $10 unlimited data plan that would be lost if I ever added tethering, I would go back to the S2 before I would consider dropping my data plan.

Ok, what's a working procedure to install and use this? I've read through 10 pages of that thread and have no idea....
I tried installing the apk, won't overwright existing apk.
I tried uninstalling existing apk and installing this apk, says it cannot install. (I have a backup of existing which I then restored)
I tried deleting the installed apk from /system/app and copy and paste this apk in, tethering crashes when I try to launch it.
EDIT, the apk downloaded as a .zip which I renamed to .apk, might this have something to do with it?
EDIT 2, I missed the clearing of the cache and rebooting. After replacing the APK with the downloaded one, clearing the cache with TBU, and rebooting, it seems to be working great. Note I didn't have and odex file to delete....

Just make sure you use the link in the post I recommended. There's no zip, only an apk that is 232KB large. Use a file explorer like the ES Explorer app. Go to /system/app, copy TetheringProvision.apk and TetheringProvision.odex to a backup location, then delete them, copy the downloaded apk to /system/app, set the permissions to read + write for the owner (root) and only read for the rest (using the "more options" setting if you use ES Explorer) and that's it, the Mobile Hotspot app should work.
I have tested and works correctly with a phone released using another operator. :good:
It's easy, take root the phone, use "ES explorer" or "rootexplorer", go to the folder "system / app" delete "TetheringProvision.apk" and "TetheringProvision.odex", copy the new "TetheringProvision.apk" and set permissions "rw-r--r--" reboot and go.
Wireless Tether running smoothly.

:good:

confirmed working. thanks
I didn't realize there is a way to tether without a chance of at&t detecting and shutting down the plan. Is this it?

Reading this I almost thought I woke up in the middle of the night and made another post; exact same situation I found myself in!
I used Wanam Xposed to disable provisioning, is this functionally identical to using Wifi Tether Router to 'bypass' the tethering plan requirement? I'm using the native hotspot app atm.

You are missing the final r, it should be rw-r--r--.
In ES File Explorer it's Owner read write; Group read; Other read
I also cleared the cache after doing the file swap. I had my permissions wrong the first time as I left Execute in there, once I figured that out it's working great for me.
I'm on an S5 Active.

Whoops, it was a typo, I had the permissions rw--r--r--. The hotspot works now, but it doesn't show me the screen to configure my password and stuff like that.

When you click it on, you don't have the three dot menu right next to it? Are you using FoxFi or stock?
I'm using stock. It looks like this.

Hmm I'm sorry to say I don't have other ideas besides a full reset. Here is what mine looks like.

I have rooted and installed SU. I have tried Helium to backup the app on my old S3 then install the app on my new S5. It wont register that way. I tried Device spoofer to make it look like an S3 and it still wont register. I found an older thread where the guy said it worked with both above mentioned methods on his Note 3. But they dont seem to work on the S5. Anybody have any other ideas? Is the network possibly seeing the S5 sim card and simply going NOPE not happening or does it read the device info instead? If it is the sim maybe they can reactivate my S3 sim and maybe I can get it working that way?
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using Titanium Backup and doing the exact same thing; back up the app on your S3 to your SD card, move the card to your S5, restore the app. Should work fine. I've never worked with Helium.

I will give that a try. It seems like helium backs everything up except for the registration data and the network even when i spoof it still knows it is an S5. They told me at the store they expect eptt to be updated to work with the S5 soon but how long is "soon"? A week or two is no big deal but any longer becomes a real issue. I use it all the time. Luckily I have a paid subscription to titanium so when i get home I will give her a whirl and see what happens.
Same issue. It tries to activate on the network and it wont allow it.
You have to fix your sd permissions use this app.

Ok guys here is the way to do it if anybody else ever runs into this situation. Device spoofer does work but it makes everything on the screen super small and after you activate EPTT and get it up and working then switch back to the stock profile it then stops working again.
In order to get the EPTT app to work on all non supported ATT android phones you must change the phones model number. I followed this tutorial and it worked perfectly. You must be rooted.
http://www.skytechblog.com/2013/01/change-mode-number-to-galaxy-s4-or.html
"Requirements:- A rooted Android device, Root explorer & patience
So let's Start..!! Video Tutorial
1. Start the Root Explorer app.
2. Go to System folder its in the root if the device
3. Make sure that System is in Read/Write from the top right
corner.
4. Look for a file named
build.prop in system folder.
5. Long press it for Options and then choose Text editor.
7. Search the line as followed ro.product.model= and then change the text after = sign to whatever you like your Model number to be displayed.
8. Press back and hit Save.
9. Exit the app and Reboot or simply Power off and on it.
That's it...its done now check the edited name in Settings>About phone> Model number
To get back to the original:- Just delete the build.prop and rename the build.prop.bak again to build.prop and reboot "
I changed mine to an S4 which is supported. The registration network looks for the Model number to verify it is being used on a supported device. Simply change it to the name of a supported device and waaa laaaa working EPTT.
As you can see by the icon at the top left I am signed in to EPTT and it does work great on the S5.
I know very few use this but for those that do and want a newer phone then here is your 100% working answer if you are willing to root your phone.
