[Q] Help on Nokia BH-221 Bluetooth headset - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I just purchased Nokia Stereo Bluetooth headset BH-221 for my Xperia Z. All the functions like FM Radio, NFC, Music, Call Pick etc are all working fine. However I inbuilt OLED display is not displaying anything. Is anyone aware how to get the display working?.
Can anyone please help me with this problem and provide any solution?.

Does it display anything? Radio station? Caller details? Track playing?

No. It's not displaying anything. I am wondering if the piece is defective or there is some button combinations which needs to be pressed.

Can you try it with a Nokia? Then you will know for sure.

Yesterday I went to Nokia care and the contact person agreed that it is defective as it is not even displaying the startup NOKIA letters, ruling out any incompatibility issues with Xperia Z. I will get new replacement in weeks time and will check again with my new Z beauty

[q] se mw 600

I've jst purchased the sony ericsson mw 600 bluetooth handset. While using it to make calls, i'm not able to get the voice over on my mw600's headphones. It comes via the speakephone on tab. Infact even on my iphone 4 the same thing is happening.
Can anyone pls help me in sorting out this issue ???
Read the manual. I use the SE MW600 with my TAB
I did. It says to press the call button on handset after the call has been dialed. Did that but it did not work. U did not have to do any settings for ur handset ??
thanks ! rechecked the manual. Got it sorted !!
Are you guys able to connect the headset to the media? If so, what is your firmware version?
The phone connection works fine but, even tough the profile is set, I can't get it to connect for media use. The logcat doesn't show any exception (or any clue regarding media).
Sorry for the thread hijack.

Sony Ericsson MW600 Bluetooth for note 2

Does Sony Ericsson MW Bluetooth work with galaxy note 2? I have seen on some forums that Sony MW600 Bluetooth doesn't work with S3. Hence just wanted to confirm whether it works with note 2 or not.
What is the best Bluetooth headset with caller ID?

Caller name does not display. However, music track name does display.
Caller ID works but Just number. Sound quality very good. Better than the earphones came with note 2.
Is there any known hack to display those caller name on it's display ?

Text support over bluetooth is broken in android. Sony phones support their headsets through some sort of hack but other than that you wont get text support. I have the mw600 and the same issue

Bluetooth Accessories

Hi, I have just updated to version 434 after a little accident with my /data partition. I have a MW600 Bluetooth headset with OLED screen to display caller and track details. On my Xperia S the bluetooth stack in android ICS didn't support track text ( an android issue). Now I tried this headset when I got my Xperia Z too but am sure track text still didn't work with the Z. So after update i repaired all my bluetooth devices and to my surprise the track text now displays! (only tried this in the Walkman app) I'm quite happy this worked so seeing as I was on a roll i decided to try my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and pair it up with the Z too. This also works perfectly! (never worked before on previous devices)
Is this a JB feature that these devices now work or was it something in the latest update?
Any ideas?

Any one got an MW600 and Xperia Z on ver. 350 can confirm this?

Hi,
I have (mw600 and 350fw). I've tried and it has showed song's name. But I couldn't use my phone to making calls. So I haven't tried caller ids yet.

Anyone got the SBH20 Bluetooth headset yet?

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/stereo-bluetooth-headset-sbh20/
Looks promising, especially for owners of the Xperia V who are afraid their flaps will eventually get loose. I was thinking of getting one (primarily in order to use it with headphones to listen to music on the go), but I'm afraid having Bluetooth activated over longer periods will accelerate battery drain. So I was wondering - is anybody using it already? And if yes, how is battery life affected when using it?
Also, does it ship with earphones? I already got the ones from my V which I don't use, and I don't need another pair honestly ...

Just got it today, it's really nice, but NFC function is really useless, it connects the headset and turns bluetooth on, but you have to use NFC fuction always on which drains the battery more then idle bluetooth. So I connected it manually and it connects automatically each time I turn headset on with all the devices it was once connected. It's good for those who use NFC a lot.

And how much does Bluetooth drain the battery when you use the headset? That's my main concern.

I've never used the sbh20, but i use a similar bluetooth headset by nokia and i always connect my T to the car stereo with bluetooth to listen to spotify's music..in the beginning i was scared as you by a possible battery drain, but in the end you don't have to worry...It uses 1/2% of battery for 15-20 minutes of music, not bad imho!

Somebody on this forum told about Xperia that useing bluetooth headset takes less power then listening to music through wired headphones plugged directly to the phone, not sure though.
My experience shows that NFC feature takes 1-2% more than idle bluetooth on my Sony Xperia Acro S through the night.
Thanks guys!
Btw., I just ordered it for my birthday
I think some people are misunderstanding NFC here, the music isnt streamed through NFC, It would be usless if that was the case. It uses bluetooth to stream, the initial connection to the device is created via a tap with NFC enabled. NFC only works in the proximity of a couple of MM.
My experince with bluetooth headphones is very positive, barely any battery drain directly with bluetooth headphones and liveview attached to my XperiaT.
I use a bluetooth speaker in my car and find the battery drain is significantly less than playing it through the devices inbuilt speaker.
What can you say with the quality of sound? Difference between the generic headset from out of the box came from the phone and the headset include in sbh20. Thanks

ill order one for myself. RM145 here in malaysia.. thanks for this info!
Got mine today, in sexy white, to fit my iPod earphones Now I've got several Sony chargers and earphones which I don't use ...
Anyway, the SBH20 is great, makes the phone a proper MP3 player PLUS it doubles as a headset. Very comfortable. Also: no more opening my V's flaps
I got one too. Now I don't have to lug my hefty phone in my pockets or hand to listen to music \

The earphones are alright. They're more or less the same than the stock earphones.

Hello. I am looking to buy Sony SBH20 to use with my Lumia 920 and desktop computer. Currently I am using a Jabra Street 2. I wanted to know a few things.
1. How is the mic quality when on a call? Is the background noise of wind, people around you audible when on a call from the mic itself? I had this problem with my Nokia BH-214 handsfree but not with my Jabra Street 2 so I am cautious when buying these.
2. Does the handsfree add its own Bass/Treble to songs being played? My Jabra Street 2 does it and it is annoying as I can't listen to songs in their pure form.
3. Do you have access to a Nokia Lumia 920? Can you please check if there is any problem with it? It is ok if you don't have access.

BT doubts

Hello experts,
On my Z3c I have a BT headset + SW3 smartwatch paired, and I use them at the same time, of course.
It happens that they do not work fine: for example notifications (such as the wibration of an incoming call) arrives late, or I get I headset not connect...
It looks like Z3c dosn't handle corretly 2 devices simultaneously via BlueTooth.
Can anybody give me a hint?
Thanks

I have Z3C paired with SW3 and while driving a car, I'm always using my Sony BT radio MEX-N5100BT to stream music and handle the phone calls and I've never really had any problem with these devices, everything is OK...
I don't really know how to help you... BT connection is not a type of connection that suspends when the phone's screen is off so this is really strange that your devices don't work simultaneously. This might be stupid but do you use any app suspender such as Greenify? Or just stamina?
