[Q] Root SGM2 on Mac - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hello guys,
I've got a problem, does anyone know how to flash recovery - CWM or - using Heimdall? I've tried running Odin on Wineskin but it didn't detected my Mini, and Heimdall is hard to understand because there's no menu like Odin and also I'm pretty new to Android - been using iPhone 3G for a long time. Can you please help me?
Cheers!

Anyone? Please?

Heimdal don't work with mini
And we should not use odin in any virtual player.
So almost not possible
Try a friend's windows pc

Its not impossible you can use a windows emulator or Wine?(I not sure cause that's what I use on Linux and some say supported by Mac)

RE: Root on Mac
I finally rooted on Mac via VMware and then installed Windows 7 via BootCamp. Sorry Apple but Mini 2 is such unpopular phone that there's no method to do on OSX.

Wait a minute, you own a Mac and have never heard of bootcamp?!
Its a feature built into OS X that allows you to run a windows partition. **** man, I downloa.....er......"obtained" a copy of winblows 7 and can boot into it any time I want on my MacBook!
Google it if you don't believe me, but its well worth it.

It's the only way to painlessly get Odin working, I found an old copy of XP for just this purpose.

PC cannot read the Samsung Galaxy S (international)

Hi I really need someones help.. really plz.
Im trying to root my phone because i wanted to fix the lag of it. having read and watch different method of rooting, i was convinced of using the superone click rooting which could be found also in our site. But the problem im experiencing is, the driver i have downloaded and installed is not working, i think. Because, whenever i tried to connect my phone in my laptop, it always say device is not recognized.
i have tried to use this driver (x86) because my laptop supports 32 bit OS
yet, my laptop is still not reading my phone. and since my laptop is not reading it, i couldnt perform the rooting via super one click
I really need anyones help here. Please, please.
Please tell me what to do.

does your computer recognize your phone as a storage in MY Computer ????
Have you got modem driver enabled? It is necessary do make Odin work.
And, what system on computer you are using? Running as admin?

Soft/Hard Brick Tab P1000 (Help!)

Hi Guys,
So basically I have a P1000 in my hands. I was asked if I could upgrade it to gingerbread since it was running a slow froyo ROM from a Portuguese provider.
The thing is, since the beginning that I don't have access to ODIN. I can go into download mode but the tablet is not recognized in both windows ( USB Not Recognized - Unknown Device ) and linux ( device descriptor read/64, error -110 ).
Since I wasn't able to get in ODIN I used MobileODIN. I was able to flash gingerbread and I was able to boot but something went wrong because on boot and recovery I had colored lines. This was probably a bootloader issue since MobileOdin doesn't flash it.
After it I made the biggest error, I flashed thru MobileOdin the Overcome Kernel. The flash it self went fine and it was booting after but the big problem for me was that it changed RFS to EXT4, changing the partitions it self leaving me locked to that ROM since MobileOdin doesn't partition.
I didn't realized the impact of the kernel at the time and I basically killed the TAB when I tried to go back to froyo using again MobileOdin. It flashed the kernel but then it wasn't able to boot into recovery and the Tab was freezed in "Galaxy Tab" screen.
The thing is, I JUST NEED DOWNLOAD MODE!!! I'm able to get into it but I can't get a way to get recognized by the PC.
The cable it self is working since it worked with ADB,etc in the ROM.
I tried many drivers, with and without kies, and 5 different PCs (Win7x64,x32, XPx32) and no luck.
Was able to try other cable to but I have the same issue.
Basically I think I'm screwed! I don't think any of the bricked guides apply to me since I can go into Download Mode! I just need to get it detected by some OS.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Use linux with heimdall.
Your descriptor issue is probably irrelevant, maybe linux trying to mount the SD card.

Hi!
I already tried heimdall, but the device doesn't show in lsusb.
When using heimdall command line it just says that it doesn't find any device in Download Mode :\
Next thing I was thinking was to take out the battery because I'm really out of options really :|
Not sure if this matters, but I always have this in my machine. (Ubuntu)
create a file /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
within, add these lines
#Samsung
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="04e8", MODE="0666"
save the file, then do a /etc/init.d/udev restart
that should make the device hot pluggable, detected, in ubuntu.

Priyana told me about your problem... There was another friend on this community had something like yours...

You have to install the drivers on windows 8 according to:
1- right click on the setup.exe then select
2- troubleshoot compatibility.
3- run through the wizard selecting that your application was running fine on earlier version of windows ...
Good luck

Hi!
Thanks for the help but are those x64? Was trying to run in XP x32 but it says is not a valid win32 app. I saw they are 1.3.450.0, are they changed? I think I already tried that version without luck :|
Regards.
These drivers I was using on windows 7 without any issues... But after I used windows 8 I couldn't install them...
It is supposed that they are not changed and am using them for the last two years... I tried Odin 3.07 and it also work great for the tab..

Do you guys think JTAG could help in this situation?
Thanks

When in Download Mode it doesn't show in lsusb.
Heimdall just says it didn't found a device in Download Mode.
In dmesg the error is " device descriptor read/64, error -110 "
Going for JTAG.
I will let you guys know if it works out.
Thanks for the help

W8.1 Doesn't recognize Ace in download mode

Here is my history,
I was trying to unlock S5830, so I rooted and placed a custom rom (MaclawStudio ROM Final 3), kernel 2.6.37.6-maclawstudio.
I found my unlock key and when the phone asked for it, I went head! Problem is that I cant get any network service. And I know that the unlock key was correct (tryed two methods a hex method and an app method).
So I'm trying to go back to the stock rom, with odin 4.38 (w7 compatibility (im running w8.1 64x) and with admin rights) one package.
But my laptop recognizes the phone except when in download mode. Can anyone help me? I just need to really unlock the phone... thanks ppl.
