Do you use film in Xperia Z? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm in doubt buy a protective film to use the Xperia Z, but I'm afraid to lose touch sensitivity and screen brightness too!
The anti-shatter that comes standard is very easy to scratch? I mean just scratch with normal use of the fingers!
On my Xperia S, the original film it was only scratching with normal use! I removed the film and left without!
But the Xperia Z to remove the film, the Sony comes out soon too and I did not want to lose it!
1) You left without anti-shatter film, only with him or bought another protective film?
2) Someone found to sell a new film with the logo of Sony?

You could remove the file to give it a cleaner look and then you can put on a screen protector that doesn't scratch like spigen ultra thin screen protector. But if you don't want to lose the logo put another screen protector on top. You won't lose screen responsiveness unless you get really bad quality screen protectors.
Press thanks if I helped

I bought Zagg Invisible Shield, is it good?

I have a minimal scratch on the back , used the phone very carefully but I don't know how I got it ( it's very small but it is) so it's scratches very quick ( at least in my case ) so I bought a film for the back. I will buy for the front too , but I will wait a little bit cause here in my stupid country we don't have alternatives

not with sgp ultra crystal, what screen protector are you using?
AW: Don't use a screen protector
Was just about to say. Use a real protector and not some transparent plastic you found in your fridge.
In defense of iujona some expensive "military grade" screen protectors are almost like sticking a combination of bubble plastic and syrup to your screen.
I finally settled for a hard plastic variety that does not get marked by my S-Pen and cheap enough to change every month or so.
A screen protector goes a long way towards protecting your screen from enemies like sand. It also helps in preventing dynamic tension release. Allow me to explain. When gorilla glass is made, the final step is to dip the glass into a polymer, which makes a thin oleophobic coating, and then shrinks a bit, making a tight fit. This greatly improves durability, but puts the entire pane under orthogonal volumetric shearing strain, or for the common man's day to day vocabulary, stress. When the screen them scratches, this stress/pressure is released, and causes a crack, similar to how one would score a glass pane to cut it. The panel of glass will, on the next fall, fail along this near invisible hairline. Screen protectors prevent the layer on the glass from breaking in this manner, by acting as the first line of defence.
Tl;dr: spans l spend a few bucks on a good screen protector, even if you feel its a tad expensive. It's a miniscule portion of what was spent on the phone, and is well worth it

True, yet...
1. people report that after the factory fitted protector is removed, the glass does not exhibit oleophobic properties
2. as can be taken from above, a protector is already fitted, so the shattering effect should be eliminated already
3. I spend a whopping 20 bucks on the one I ordered and planning to glue it on top of the already fitted one
What a great and insightful thread
DO USE a screen protector.
If your screen protector caused any losses in responsivenes or clarity - change brand because it's not very good...

I don't use screen protectors and never have it always reminds me of people who leave plastic covers on their car seats.

I put on an 'invisibleshield' from zagg and haven't noticed any difference in response.
It set me back about 15 pounds sterling but since my last phones screen got badly scratched bouncing around in my pocket, I figured that 15 bucks really wasn't much.
It's worth looking after stuff sometimes.

Christ, just rip off the protective foil. Then you'll have a -lo and behold- scratch resistant screen! Or make up your mind on a 2nd protector to buy.
I don't understand why I need a thick foil on a screen that doesn't scratch. No other recent phone needs it. Neither does this. And don't bring up the shatter thing again. If it breaks it breaks. You can drop it and break it without shattering the display.

[Q] screen protector do i need it?

i did a search and i could not find a thread about this
i have a question about screen protectors do i need them for my xperia z
i want one only at the back
i have plans on peeling off the anti shatter film from the front i see no reason in doing it at the back or should i?
i want a screen protector for one single reason and that is antifingerprint coating
i have read that the xperia z is a fingerprint magnet and i want to avoid that so i want to buy a full body screen protector
zagg screen protector (the retailer i bought the xperia z from said sony recommended invisible shield thats why the retailer has it for sale with the z)
do i need a screen protector for the back only to avoid fingerprints and smudges does invisible shield do that
as in the original edition
is there any point in removing the anti shatter film from the back aswell? i see no reason for it but i don't know

I actually put the supplied ones on both the front and the back, and to be honest I cant tell they are on the phone at all. The main reason for doing this is because the phone is in my pockets with keys etc and yeah people will say it won't get scratched but I rather have them on for now then in a few months time take them off. Also with the protectors on you can only see a couple of finger print marks, I don't think it is as bad as say the ipad screen and this is when in certain light/angles and the screen is off.

but it gets very easily scratched :S
I already had a few small scratches
I suggest you try one of the various cheap hard plastic screen protectors that are available. This cost only a few dollars so you can change them once every one or two months. That's what I do with my Note II
I think the point wawyed was making was your device is not scratched, the pre-installed film is.
There are quite a few threads on this exact topic already.... you can remove the pre-installed film if you wish - but you may loose your Sony logo. There are a few good replacement films out there (Spigen)
Bottom line: remove the stock film and replace, or leave the stock film - and put yet another one on top of it.

I read some informations on the net, but I` think the pre-installed one is a different kind of film
I was thinking about using a normal film over the pre-installed one

I had applied 3M Vikuiti ADQC27 to Xperia Arc S, S, T, TX and I ordered one more set for tomorrow when I get XZ. I was very pleased with this screen protector, but tomorrow I'll decide on which one to apply them: 3M or the 2 that come in the package (I ordered extra package with dockingstation, smartTags and screen protector). And yes, I put it over the preinstalled one :good:.
Where did you ordered the extra package?
get a set of these and be done with it!

The back of my phone has a couple of hairline scratches - I presume it's because of the bolts near my jeans' pocket. But the screen is fine so far. :victory:
Do you think that will be available a screen protector like the anti-shatter film that Sony put on the phone? It's scratching very easy and I'm thinking that if something similar will be available then I will remove the one from Sony and put that one. On other Xperia phones is available this kind of screen protector?

I think the chance of that happening is 1%, but I am surprised that companies haven't brought screen protectors with the sony logo/text.
Also a thing Sony could do is to bring out a services to re-apply the anti shatter sheet for us, specially since it scratches so easy.
Anyways, the reason why I don't see it happening is because the anti shatter sheet is being applied by a device, it needs to fit perfectly or it might lose it's function. Screen protectors can be applied by men, because it's only there to protect the device from scratches and such, not to stop the screen from shattering, even though normal screen protectors also do that, but on a smaller scale.
1. There is no screen protector with Sony logo because of patent / copy rights. It would be very expensive to get the right to use the logo.
2. Sony already offers the service to replace the anti shatter film. Costs about 20 bucks
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9100 mit Tapatalk 2
20 bucks is not much but I think is not ok to charge me that money for a piece of anti shatter film that scratches very very easily, I've put an cheap film and I will look for a better one in the future to preserve this anti shatter , but extremely scratching film from Sony. That's a huge minus for them. A gorilla glass would be a perfect solution, too bad that Sony didn't think of that. But I still love the phone
I'd prefer to completely remove the anti shatter film, but something is still holding me back. Maybe it's because I payed some hard earned money for that thing, whatever don't wanna argue about that here.
I did not put any other protection film on my XZ. I think it's odd to have two on you display and to be honest there is nothing compared to real glass. the feeling is way better... still don't wanna argue 'bout that.
so I have no protection on my display and I do not use a case... "this guy is an idiot" ...I will buy one soon; I promise. For now I use a little bag where I used to keep my sunglasses. Btw Krussel has some nice covers. "get to the point dude!" ...I keep my XZ in a sidepocket of my jacket and there is nothing else in that pocket and stil I got a few scratches on my display. It does not bother me at all. You have to look very closely to see them. What I am trying to say is that the anti shatter film scratches very easy and as far as I remeber there is gorilla glas underneath... so close, yet so far. I can live with that... for now. Someday I will take it off anyway. I just love my plain black XZ without any logos. LOL, I used to put a little piece of dark tape on my old s2, just to cover up the logo.

I personally bought this from ebay: H1 Ultra Thin Clear Tempered Glass Film Protector F Sony Xperia Z2 10.1" Tablet
I have put it on my z2 and it looks great and I have the extra protection.
I actually didnt think these tempered glass were really what they say they are, but this weekend, my phone, z1s fell and had a crack on the screen. I was so upset! :crying: But when I inspected it closer, I noticed the crack was on the tempered glass I have on it!!!! :victory: so it really did work and absorb the break. So that $10 glass saved me a bunch of money!!
So if you dont have one, think about getting one. Well worth the $15 you pay for.

screen protectors for Xperia Z tablet works on Xperia Z2 tablet, im using it on mine atm. it fits perfectly if youre still wondering .
anyone got any suggestions for matte ones?
I bought an ebay cheapie. It works re: anti glare and has actually really helped the fingerprint magnet factor / made the surface 'slide' better, but it has a weird polarising effect that's clearly visible as a sort of strange colour/pattern overlay, so on the fence about whether it was the right move or not...
On the first Sony Tablet S there was an official screen protector that had all the anti glare properties but didn't show a funny pattern, I'm looking for basically that effect.
I bought this tempered glass screen protector from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191544717348?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Not too expensive and it arrived very fast from Hong Kong (1 week) and in a crazy overdone packaging. It was inside a large foam box, so no chance of it breaking in shipping
It comes with a wet and dry wipe and installation is like every other glass screen protector. It was a bit tricky to get it on, since it's so large, but I managed on my 2nd try. I'm pretty happy with it, no bubbles and no weird colors. I was hoping it would bring less fingerprints, but it seems to be about the same as without. The screen touch seems to be better though somehow.
Also keep in mind that the hole on the protector isn't for the front facing camera, but for the ambient light sensor! At first I thought I had received the wrong item
I recently changed from my normal plastic screen protector for a 0.3 MM glass screen protector and love it! Looks way better than plastic ones, resists scratches much better and I can slide my finger over it much more easily. Would definitely recommend a glass protector. Buy one for your phone to try it first if you're unsure as they do cost quite a bit more, but for phones aren't much more expensive than cheap plastic ones.

What to do with a new screenprotector ( and ASF )

Dear community,
I received my new Z1 around 2 weeks ago, and i already have light scratches on my ASF.
I would like to protect my phone a bit more with a Tempered Glass screen protector.
this one: DX dual Screen protector
BUT here is my question:
should i put the new screen protector over my lightly scratched ASF ( will it mask the scratches?? )
OR
should i remove the ASF and put the new screen protector there instead.
Also i have another question, is putting oleo-phobic coating on top of the ASF a smart idea? ( will it mask the light scratches and make it more scratch resistant ) ?
Thanks for your time,
dinkelstefan
