Nexus S Extended Battery Review - Nexus S Accessories

Hi all!
I bought an 3800mAh extended battery from aliexpress for just under 10$.
I must say that I'm amazed by the performance.
I have been using the phone heavily the past 3 days.
A little GPS navigation, talk time, browsing, etc.
Here's the link to the product and a few screenshots!
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3800mAh-Extended-Battery-For-Samsung-Nexus-S-i9020-with-Battery-Cover-Free-Shipping/510912211.html
I highly recommend this product for heavy users.
The phone becomes a bit bulky but that's the price you have to pay.

I've now ordered the 2450mAh gold battery from aliexpress and installed a software called battery compare.
So I will run this with all my batterys and compare.

Mine nexus s battery is going down.I think i have to buy a new one.

Be carefull! http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile...hes-fire-destroys-a-nexus-s-20130325/ftjzlno/

well well, never buy from china

I would be interested to know the results of your battery comparison. I was just wondering whether I should get the extended battery with the bulging back or the 2450 battery.

New Battery Suggestions

I'm planning to get a new battery for my Tilt. The one that I have is almost 1 1/2 year old and it's lasting less than 8hrs a day.
Can you please tell me your reviews of the ones that you have bought and where did you bought it?
Thanks in advance!!
There's a few options, i can't really comment on quality, but while you're at it you might want to look at the "extended" batteries available. I believe the default battery is 1300mAh. There is a 1600mAh one that still fits normally and then theres the uber 2800 mAh ones which comes with a new back cover [obviously making the phone thicker].
The 1600mAh one is probably what i'd go for, as it's an upgrade from the original anyway : Here it is on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innocell-1600-Extended-Battery/dp/B00133TOJG
Here's the 2800mAh one: http://www.amazon.com/2800mAh-Extended-Kaiser100-T-Mobile-Vodafone/dp/B001AGLIJ0 . I guess it's useful for that extended airplane trip, but it will be bulky..
Note: Amazon got other brands of the same batteries above that are cheaper...so shop around.

[Q] 2430mAh Battery

Has anyone tried this GOLD 2430MAH BUSINESS BATTERY FOR DELL STREAK MINI 5 battery here? (Just check it out on ebay, i can't link it because i'm a new user)
Wondering if its worth getting it or if I should just get a cheaper pack with a charger and 3x 1800mAh batteries? Mainly looking for an extra battery to take with me on long car trips so I can use the phone more like a tablet, but I wouldn't hate having a longer lasting battery for daily use either and then using the stock battery as my extra.

this looks interesting..one thing good about it , is that is the same size as the original dell battery.
I think its a fake capacity, the largest capacity that fits as standard size offered by a decent battery manufacturer, Mugen Power is 1800mah, and if you read the threads here, there is a 2400mah extended battery that has to use a custom battery cover because the battery is twice the depth of the standard battery.
So, i think you will find its not really a 2430mah battery, but a 1800mah battery at best.
if it seems too good to be true...
The best bet is to get one of those external battery packs with 3000-6000mah and a spare cable.
Also be agressive in your control of screen brightness and data use
If you read the feedbacks of that seller on eBay. There are heaps of negative feedbacks from buyers calling him a CON.
I bought off amazon since it had to be shipped to India... think there was only 1 seller in Amazon and he seems genuine.
There's a point with batteries where to make them any more powerful you must make them bigger. If fitting 2430ma into an 1800ma package was possible Mugen would have done it, so yes the rating is a lie.
REF: Gold Battery 2430mAh on eBay...
Total fake and ripoff!! ...so dont be wasting your money...
Here, read "all about it" from my experience in another parallel forae - "conclusion" after testing, on post #21: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305779

Sorry. Thought you asked for the regular 2400mah.
hi, i bought this battery 2 mounth ago and my phone authonomy is double now. so dont coment if you dodnt try!
Do dell sell them?
Probably a con, but what the heck… I just purchased it. If it’s not 'as stated', I’ll report the bugger.
could keep us posted about this, i looked at the seller's feedback and seems it is fake but wondering if that is true.
The Americans have a saying "You can't put a quart in a pint pot" and that applies to battery power as well. Don't waste your money.
Irritatingly, battery capacity is only shown on the battery itself and not in the device’s battery info. So, is it really 2430mah? Don’t know. But there IS a difference. The 1530mah stock battery ran out of juice alarmingly quickly – like falling off a cliff - when at 30-40%, yet ‘Business Battery’ allows heavy use (downloads, browsing, video… etc) right down to single digits. So now I can use Streak much more (I’d say several hours more of constant use) when battery level is below 50% without worrying if it’s going to suddenly die on me. No gain between 100-50%, though.
I was prepared to slag this off, but from my experience it’s genuinely longer-lasting, especially at low battery levels. How long the battery itself will last only time will tell.
I’m not prepared to test it against Mugen’s 1800mah and spend near 30 quid (plus £18 p&p) in the process.
I've read elsewhere that the cheap Chinese batteries often don't report the available power in as many steps as a 'proper' one does, so they appear to fall slower.
I don't know how old your Dell battery is but it might not be as good as it used to be when new.
Yep, I had to replace the Dell battery (after about 10 months use) because over the past week it became completely unstable – dropping to 70% after 30min use, suddenly back up to 95%, and plummeting from then on. But the stock battery right from the start was always weakest when two-thirds empty, and it drained juice even on standby. Last night it was 100% or ‘fully charged’ for over 3 hours (mostly on standby and some light doc editing)… that had never happened before.
The thing is actually stamped ‘made in Japan’… aren’t Japanese products supposed to be expensive? Looks suspect, but whatever. If it becomes unstable after a month or two then sure, I’ll invest in a nice new Mugen or Dell replacement. But as of now I’m fairly content with a £13 Ecell batt.
Got one of these last week, & have put it through a few recharge cycles etc, unfortunately, it's no better than the stock battery
Oh well, it was worth a try..
As with all cheap batteries it has a short life - no more than 2 or 3 months before it starts to rapidly drain. As a temporary and inexpensive solution it's fine, but don’t expect long-lasting quality.

High capacity battery life - verdicts?

Hello as I've come to find out the Samsung Galaxy Ace is a great smartphone for the cheap price (especially with a custom ROM) - but the battery life sucks.
I've been checking eBay and Amazon etc and there seems to be quite a few high-capacity alternatives to the 1350mHz stock battery - I just wanted to know if anyone has had any bad experiences with these alarmingly cheap offerings - or whether they really are as good as they sound.
I can't post links as I'm new hear but if you head over to amazon.co.uk and search for "Ecell - GOLD 2430MAH s5830" you will see the one I'm particularly interested in.
Not tried myself but read this!!! : About to buy a 2430mAh battery?
I have been using these batteries for about 4 months now and I must say I'm pretty impressed. The battery life is a bit better than the OEM battery and it comes with three and a wall charger.

Just make sure you dont get a battery thats too cheap(yep there is such a thing ). The battery life isnt just determined by the capacity. You also need good quality cells, some battery's on amazon & ebay are cheap because they really are Cheap.

Gold or MPJ batteries???

Has anyone used either the
Gold
or
MPJ
batteries?
I remember on the Note 1 forums, the Gold battery seemed to be no worse than the stock battery, but I'm not sure if this is the same brand/company.
Cheers,
Rich
Never heard of them...
I just ordered a back up Samsung battery for about $25. I feel more comfortable with Samsung Batteries.
I just ordered the GOLD one off ebay right now... for 12 bucks shipped I can't go wrong to at least try it.. If it's a true 4100 it should bring a good 20% increase in life..
They advertise it as comparable to stock battery, not better. I highly doubt it's better or they would not fail to mention that.
Do either of those require a new back for the phone? i know sometimes the battery is too bulky to use the stock door. is teh 4500 just a number or could it really be 10-20% better than the stock 3100?
They seem to be the same size as the stock battery.
I just ordered these
$13 including shipping for 2 batteries and a wall charger.
They say they are 3500mAh, but even if they are a little less than the stock battery they will be fine as back ups.
The battery life of the Note 2 is so good I won't need to use the spares most days. I'll mainly use them when travelling.

eCell extended battery

I recently bought one of the eCell Gold 4500mah extended batteries from Amazon. When I looked this morning they were no longer in stock. It is an extended battery that uses the stock battery door. Just barely. It is a very tight fit. But I had my doubts as to it really being 4500mah. I just finished my 3rd charge cycle on it and I must say that I am impressed with the results so far. The majority of the screen on time was using FBReader to read a book. I also did some gaming, interenet browsing, texting, and made a few phone calls. I don't know how long it will hold up. I will report that after a month of use.
Does NFC work?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Is the battery physically larger than the stock one? If it isn't I doubt it's 4500mah...as many "gold" batteries claim much more life but use the same size.
Could you post pictures of this battery side by side with the stock one?
Do you have a link to where we can get one?

I don't think you should trust that "Battery Management" app to actually give you the capacity for the battery you use. In that app, you actually type in 4500 mAh for what you think the capacity is and then the app just estimates drainage around that number. It's not reliable to measure the mAh for a battery this way.
From looking at your Android battery usage breakdown, it doesn't look any different than what a stock battery would do. Your on screen time looks particularly low for a 4500 mAh battery should provide and looks in line with the battery stats in the battery stats thread where people use stock 3100 mAh batteries.
Don't know about NFC as I don't use it. Physically it is slightly larger than the stock battery. I don't know where you could get them now. I got mine from amazon. As far as the capacity, I doubt it is much better than stock but for me it is getting about the same or a little better on screen time as my stock battery did. Maybe the stock battery I got wasn't that good but I couldn't get 8 hours of screen on time from it. The eCell was only $20 so that is not a bad price. For a gold battery the performance is pretty decent.
