Sense 5 App Drawer - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else dont like the fact on Sense 5, if you want a app shortcut to be on the bottom app bar then it gets removed from the app drawer? So you cant have it in both the drawer and on the home screen! Hope this gets modded by the awesome devs on here.

Why would you want it still in the app drawer if you have made a shortcut to it for easy access

I agree with craftycarper1 as I don't see why you would seek to start an app from the app drawer after you created a shortcut for it. If you want to see the list of all apps there are many apps and usual android settings menu to do so.
On the other hand I have to admit that I don't like this Sense 5 app drawer. It too minimalist and does not allow even basic customizations.
Tell me if I'm wrong but It does not allow horizontal scroll, app groups on other sorting than custom. I hope these little features will be added soon.

[Q] app drawer app?

So.... ive been digging around this morning to no avail........
What im looking for is an app that i guess would be considered a simulated app drawer? Not a home launcher. For example, it would list all apps and allow you to run them from within itself as shortcuts just like the normal app drawer does. More specifically something that would allow the changing of said apps icons. At the moment i dont care about any battery drain side effects that using an extra app drawer app would cause.
Anyone know of anything like this?
Note: Remember im not talking about an entire home launcher, im well aware of most all home launchers and there abilities or lack there of.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: At best the closest i can come to this is to create a folder and add apps to it by dragging folder organizer shortcuts with custom icons in it into it. This is a time consuming process and needs to be manually updated every time an app is installed.
Something like Simi Folder?
Thats one option i was looking at but when it comes down to it it would basically require the same effort that folderorganizer does.
I think what i really need to do is research creating icon "packs" that i can link too that would auto assign an icon to an app. Simi is a bit more pleasing to the eye though.
Edit: haha thanks for posting that i just reread the simi folder thread and realized i missed the fact that it has support for icon packs... So does folder organizer though. I guess im kind of looking for something thats right in my face.... 0.o... Im just not to fond of trying to learn how to create icon packs... wonder if i could just mod one and sign it with a test sig...
Edit Edit: Nah after installing simi folder its actually less capable of doing what im looking for then folder organizer is.
I know you're not looking for another launcher, but have you checked out Go Launcher Ex? You can create folders inside of the app drawer with that launcher, which is what you appear to be trying to do.
If you already checked it out and it's not what you're looking for, then... at least I bumped your thread
Herp derp Captivate XDA app.
Have you tried circle launcher? It allows you to. Create a widget on the homescreen and within it you can choose what appear you want it to launch
Its.essentially like folder organizer but.with eye candy I guess. Not really sure.how else to.describe it.

I was thinking the twgtglauncher puts the app icons in tiles. Maybe you can edit that launcher. Are you trying to create a "Glowen" app drawer?

A few questions

Hello,
I bought the Galaxy recently, and changed his rom.
Rom comes with Launchrpro, and I am very satisfied with it.
But I want to stay with the original rom menu (TW). is this possible?
In addition, I want to get the applications menu in folders.is this possible?
Thanks
I don't know which rom you are using but if that rom gives you both option then go to
settings> application> manage application> choose TW> set default (you can clear defaults too)
Hope this works for you.
There are custom roms that offer touchwiz, and you can always install it afterwards too (e.g. From apk found off the forums, or via sgs tools app).
Doc rom kitchen is a great place to start.
The app menu is launcher specific, afaik there aren't any that allow you to arrange your apps into folders, and launcherpro is the only one that lets you hide icons.

Tnx but I know that I can switch to TW.
I want to stay with Launchrpro and replace just the menu like TW.

What menu are you talking about? (screenies would be nice)
The first picture(left) is the menu I want to go back to.
This second picture menu I have now, in the launcherpro
I wish to keep launcherpro because of the comfortable home screens.
That menu is called app drawer a part of the launcher and what you want I believe not possible with launcherpro. If you want the horizontal scrolling + menu in app drawer I mean. You are better off with another launcher. Like ADW launcher or some modified TW.
As near as I can tell, what you are showing in the first pic is the TWLauncher homescreen, while in the second you are showing the App Drawer in LauncherPro.
It is easy to reproduce a similar homescreen in Launcher Pro. On your main screen, just press the button to open your App Drawer (the thing shown in your second picture). The press and hold the icon for an App you wish to put on your homescreen. Your view will switch to your homescreen, with a garbage can at the bottom. Position the icon where you with it, or drop it into the trash and start again. Once you have everything on the first homescreen that you want, go to the second screen, reopen the App Drawer, and add apps just as you did before.
You can control the number of homescreens you have, and which opens by default, from the Launcher Pro Preferences menu.

As you can see if you look closely BOTH pics are app drawer . Look first pic, grey bar down (home screen has it black) and Home button which doesnt exist in the homescreen since there is the Applications button
To OP look what I wrote you up . Or you could kinda put all yours apps on your homescreen like rschenck said.
Try Go Launcher, free in market. It lets you have the "side swiping" app drawer/menu

Quite right, my bad...been a while since I used the TWLauncher.
OP, are you asking to be able to horizontally scroll through apps, or to have buttons for Phone and other key tasks on the same page as all your apps?
I am still thinking that you can either jury rig a solution using Pro, or as Pagot suggests, try other launchers, there are lots of good ones out there...ADW, Pro, GO, Zume, plenty of others.

Google experience launcher but stock app drawer?

I'm using gel on my htc one. Overall I like it, but I prefer the stock app drawer with the ability to use folders. Is there a way to replace the app drawer, or change the app drawer shortcut to the stock one? I know launchers such as nova allow you to make activity shortcuts. I made one for blink feed, but can't find the activity name for the app drawer. Any ideas?

how to hide app icons?

I just got the note 5 use to have the S5. My question is on the S5 there was a way to hide icons so the apps icon couldn't be seen on the top right corner there were 3 little dots that you clicked on and selected hide apps the clicked on the apps you wanted to hide then done and now no one could see the app icons you hid. Is there a way or an app that will allow you to hide you app icons? I may have posted this in the wrong place if so please move to proper section. Thanks.
do you mean in the app drawer? there are third-party launchers that allow you to hide apps from showing in your app drawer. I don't use TouchWiz, so idk.

Yeah it was easy to hide your app icons in your app drawer before but now that I got this as a bday gift I don't see a way of doing that. What app is there that I can use that allows me to hide my app icons from my app drawer?
since the old CM ROM days on earlier HTC devices, I've been stuck loving ADW launcher. there's just some settings in it that keeps me sticking with it. I find most ppl to like the style of other launchers though.

You can just disable the apps that you don't want to see. I'm assuming if you don't want to see the apps then you won't be using them anyways? If you disable an app the icon will go away. You can always re-enable the apps at any time if needed.
You could also create a folder in the app drawer & throw all the apps you want to hide in there. Not really hiding the app icons but they'll be somewhat out of the way if there's a bunch you to want to remove. Better than nothing if you don't find a solution.

I downloaded Nova launcher prime cause the free version didn't let you hide the icons in your app drawer. It's not that I don't use the programs I want to hide it's that I don't want everyone else seeing what programs I have like the kids. Thanks for the help. Wish it was like it was before and not that you have to download a program now to get some features back.

App drawer

Hi guys,
I've done a quick search, sorry if this has been covered. I've just recently picked up a p20 pro after a couple years with Google pixel.
Really happy with it so far, the only thing is I'd like to swipe up to access the app drawer.
I know about nova launcher and converting to 'stock' android. My question is how would I keep all the features currently on EMUI with the only mod being so I can swipe up to access app drawer.
Thanks in advance
nope, not possible and if i have to be honest then i like it just as is without a app drawer to begin with. Nice and easy all icons on the main screen from the start but i do think that in the new Pie releases that i have seen the swipe up drawer but cant confirm.
I know what you mean. I can't work out if it's habit or I actually prefer an app drawer. But I do find myself wanting one for some reason.
Can I hide/alter the Google search bar on EMUI or simply just move it?
Thanks again

i just removed my google search bar and im using the one in the google feed. I get your point tho because when i just got my p20 pro i also was missing the swipe up to get to my apps. Back then i had multiple folders on my homescreen filled with apps and i had turned off the "add app to homescreen" after install so that i had to do everything manually but in the end it takes more work this way and even had some folders with the same app which is retarded of course
Now i also got a couple of folders and 1 is called system where i put in all app related to the system or apps that i wont use so that the homescreen stays more clean
