[IRC CHANNEL] For the purposes of fixing Wifi for CM Rom - HTC Desire C

Okay guys so iv been up all night after a long shift at work yesterday trying to find a way to get around the wifi issue we currently face on the current build of CM9 here on the forums for our device.
I have set up a channel on irc.freenode.net for our device and the channel can be found at: ##HTCDesireCcm9
If your new to irc simply go to http://webchat.freenode.net give yourself a username and connect, next in the entry box where you can type at the bottom type "/j ##HTCDesireCcm9" without the quotation marks and you will be entered to the channel where we can discuss in real time anything to do with the ins and outs of the desire c handset.
The irc channel is primarily set up to try to find a way to get wifi working on CM9 rom BUT is not strictly just for this, all are welcome to come and share ideas and talk about anything directly related to this device so come and make yourself known, especially if you have a good knowledge in development of any kind regarding android and HTC devices.
All the best and hope to see you all soon.
P.S. i will see if i can get this thread stickied so as not to get it lost in the realms of all the threads here.
se you there
edit: now channel is at ##HTCDesireCcm9 due to unable to create mod statuses and not getting auto op status when i relogged so now the channel has moved to here. come and join us in the fight against closed source code XD

Great work man, hopefully this will get us somewhere.

I know right currently working on fixing things related to getting aosp roms up and running with all drivers working etc seems to be a total of three people only one of which has recognised developer status here on the forums, if there are other people working the device they are being very quiet in the forums and irc channels such as the one iv made here and also the cyanogen channels. shame really its a pretty good device for its price range but if we have to slog it out with just a handfull of us then so beit.
also check out the development section for a fully working bug free CWM touch recovery freshly cooked up today with a bit of help from some friendly devs in cyanogenmod chan

WC Website launch

Hi guys and fellow users of the WCX series.
http://www.wcxxperia-nce.com/index.php
just a short post to let you know of the new website WC has created to host his current roms mainly the EXPERIA-NCE series. this is due to the current 'swamping' situation in the x1 forum right now. as you would have noticed a few cooks have started posting their roms on htc pedia to sort of weed out the bad apples and provide their work to people who truly appreciate it. the norm is that people flock to the roms with the most posts and most views. what peops dont realise that more post normally means more bugs! we on the other hand have tried to create roms with few bugs so our roms may not appeal to the flood of new 'beta' testers who join XDA daily. what we have produced is a rom that can be used daily from a cook who actually cares about what he puts out there. so if you want a rom on your device which allows you to concentrate on other things in your life then try our work................. the web address is at the top of the post and you will have to register to get access to the download.
this forum has turned into a '*****ing' forum full of whingers and too many stuck up folks. no one shares but are quick to take off you when they want something! we will never ask you for donations or ask for your help to buy a new device. we have no donation fund to buy phones for our 'people' as we can buy our own.................!
come try our work and if ya dont like it then you got so many to choose from on here! thanks for reading!
@shingers5
Nice post. I just posted something on the WCX ROMS thread before I saw this.
Cool ....... i really liked WCX rom. It may not be as flashy or as fast as some but it is very stable and it just works. so far i have not experience any crash or freeze (maybe i'm not a heavy user keke)
Thanks guys, posted somerules that need to be read in the first populated thread....FTP is up and running now.

I always liked the WCX roms. But frankly, registering at dozens of individual forums and checking them all several times a week for updates/fixes/comments simply sucks
Subscribe to threads of interest which makes it easier to determine if a visit to the forum is warranted.

Hi Wild Child,
i also greatly appreciate your work.
It really seems there are some who care a lot about a nice finish and there are others who always ride the bleeding edge...
Realizing little decay in some parts of the forum, there are always some of the good and brave who make it a nice place in sum.
Why did you open up your own forum
Seemed to me that you are one of the master cookers, so who bothered you?
Anyway, maybe you don't like to point it out here...
Keep up your good work and good luck with your forum!

[QUEST] List of all roms available

i`m not sure if i`m breaking any rules by posting this but i`m new on this forum and i have only one problem .. when i`m trying to search for a rom i have ten's of results and onlyt 10 % of them give me what i want .. and sometimes not even thoes... i found a thread in the themes and app section whit known apps working on the touch hd etc ..
could someone make something like this for the roms ..
it`s a nightmare to search for a rom ..
this could be verry helpfull .. just "stick" the thread to the top of the forum and there a moderator or anyone who wants the job could post every existing rom and the link to it ..
no description .. just something like this :
name(dutty`s r4),(miri`s etc) win 6.5 .. build 2****
link (or something close to this)
the reason for wanting this is because whenever i`m trying to search for something i`m spending literaly hours trying to find the rom, app etc ..
thank`s for the answer .. what ever that is
first, let me welcome you to xda! what information are you searching for? your best bet is to read the 1st-10th posts of each ROM thread for details on the the ROM. reading the first few posts of each thread and then posts after the posted ROM release date (usually in the thread title) is the approach i use to get feedback.

i`m starting to get my way around .. but it`s still a bit confsing sometimes .. because it seems that every chef after releasing a new rom he is just posting it in the previews threat without starting a new one .. and sometimes it`s quite confusing .. in the same threat you find 2 3 5 roms everyone diferent builds and it`s not always easy to gues witch is what .. anyway this could be a good ideea .. at least 50% of the users here don`t use english as their base language and it`s not easy for all to find what they are looking for... i started this thread because it was trying to find miri`s build 23053 test .. i was hoping to find`it in a new title but i found`it in a older thread .. somewere at the bottom of the post.. realy hard considering i had screenshots from older builds and the title was saying something else .. anyway .. i would startit myself but i`m away form my pc about 12 hours a day (not counting the sleep )and don`t have the time
thanks for the reply and please excuse my bad english

Its not a bad idea, but it would also be very time consuming. You have to remember that a benchmark thread already exists which gives some information on each rom already, but not to the extent your seeking. Why not have a go at creating this thread yourself and add to this site. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate your effort.

love to .. but like u said it would also be very time consuming .. and i don`t really have the time .. i will give`it a try .. but don`t be surprized if the thread apears after 2-3 months ...
im away from home 12 - 13 hours a day and that`s why i invited someone else to give`it a go .. i just came with the ideea
so who ever reads this and wants the job .. go ahead .. a lot of people will love you after the thread`s release
I've re-opened this thread.
Hopefully others want to help and assist this quest. I'll watch thread closely and if it develops I may sticky it. But its a long way off this for now.
Good luck
Hello
I am willing to give this a try.
I would first like to hear how it would be best to do it because it could quickly get messy.
So feel free to post your suggestions.
I would then be able to asess if i can really manage it.

I would suggest making a google documents account, and setting up a spreadsheet. Make it open access to all, and arrange with ROMs down the side and details along the top. You could have sections for different authors with their ROMs all in one place. Once you have a bare bones structure, invite people to contribute and publish the address of the spreadsheet.
Good luck, it's a great idea. I would also invite proposals for what column headings you have (eg it would be good to have votes so particularly successful ROMs could be identified.)
I'm also lost in the world of rom's
for a start:
what should be in the spreadsheet?
Name of the rom
Language
Version
On what WM is it based
Date of release
programs installed
Known problems and if they're solved

Jay
Hello
ok Here is a barebone first try. Please view and suggest improvements. If you would like access to edit and add roms please post here or Pm me.

There was a page on the Wiki that was kept up to date:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_cookedroms
This doesn't seem to have been updated for some time.
Surely this is the best solution, a sticky in the forum which links to the Wiki, and that page is kept up to date.
Maybe the Wiki main page should have details and links to the latest ROM version for each ROM out there, and each one has a link to a page which has previous links in there. These ROMs could be grouped by Chef, and give the Chef an oppotunity to write something brief if they wish.
I do agree that is it very annoying that new threads are not started when a new version of a ROM appears as all the comments relate to when the thread was first started.
I would be happy to be in a group of people to keep the Wiki up to date...
Maybe we need to make it easy as well for the Chefs to notify moderators of the Wiki cooked ROMs page they have release a new version.
Jason
I wouldn't mind allowing someone access to editing Wingster and adding a Touch HD section to my website. I need someone who is dedicated and has time to keep it updated though.
Any takers? The website is (www.thewingster.com)

Hmm indeed the wiki seems to be the most logical solution.
Jay
I had just picked up on this thread and was about to comment on the spreadsheet and the fact that I'm sure a Wiki page was updated once upon a time and low and behold, it's been posted!
The fact is whilst many people are fluent with cooked ROM's, there are MANY more that have a number of valid reasons for being sceptical and wanting specific information before trying.
My personal belief is that the Wiki would be the best solution for this as it can be edited by all.
However I think a mandatory standard should be introduced. Something along the lines of:
ROM Name|OS Ver|Win Release|Manila Ver & Build|Features (top 5?)|Known Bugs (Cooker) | Community common issues|
Just something like this to get some sort of understanding.
For instance, in most of the recent ROMs there seems to be an issue with MMS but the cooker doesn't necessarily agree that it's a ROM issue, hence the community common issues section.
I'm working off my own experiences here however. I personally want to know what device it will work on, what the OS and Manila versions are, what the features are but what the tradeoff to known bugs are if I flash this ROM.
One last thing - Whilst I understand that many of the cookers have other things that are ongoing and therefore get to their ROM's as and when they can and again provide support where they can, I have seen very little support for their ROM's as they know there is another around the corner. That to me is the biggest issue for people wishing to jump into the world of cooked ROMS - the ability to know exactly what they are and aren't getting. Standard ROMs provide that and hence the comfort it brings.
Comments & thoughts?

Hello
A mandatory standard is definitly needed for the Wiki.
I guess we now need to form a team/group of people who are willing to invest some time in updating the wiki.
As for what you say on rom support, the rom thread gives you a lot of info it would also add a lot of work on an already ambitious project.
The main goal here is to provide a single place where you can see and find all available roms.

Well count me in - I'm willing to be a part of this. I really feel that for the "average user" there is very little that they can get at quickly and effectively. If you are a power user you can go through the whole "editing of manila files" and the other titbits in the threads but the fact is most people don't expect "normal" functions to be interrupted by new ROMs...they expect enhancements with no reduction in usability. I understand that there is a trade-off, but i think that trade-off should be immediately understood and available for all users to see.
Same here....
I have started tonight compiling some of the ROM details...
I could add a new table into the Cooked ROMs Wiki page with where I am up to and so people can get an idea of the layout I am proposing?
Personally I think there should be a table per WM version, and also per language, although I have concentrated efforts firstly on WWE.
I also would group in the table by Chef, listing their variants next to each other, each on a different line, but light, standard, heavy builds of the same variant that are usually on the same thread should be on one line, I think we can span the lines in the table on the Wiki so it looks right. The main table should only have latest links, and maybe another Wiki page with previous links, that we move when a new one comes out, so a record is kept where possible.
The column where the name of the ROM series is will link to the thread, with the download links having its own column if possible (maybe with light, standard, heavy if applicable)
Mods: Can you advise on posting links to other sites, i.e. with Dutty etc going to HTCPedia. Some of these Chefs generate a lot of interest, dont really want to exclude these...
Thanks
Jason
EDIT::
I have updated the cooked ROMs page, added a new table near the top, only WM6.5 ROMs WWE versions.
Not an extensive list yet, and some missing information as threads dont have some detail:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_cookedroms
Need to decide on whether the columns are suitable and whether there is more information that would be handy, and/or any other revisions to the layout. If anyone is aware of any of the missing information, that would be great, just go ahead and fill it in...
MODS: Could do with a new thread with a sticky, pointing to the cooked ROM Wiki page once we have sorted it out please.
Chaps,
Now I have put an example table on the cooked roms wiki page, can everyone who is interested take a look and see if we can make this wiki useful...
Thanks
Hello
Nice work! but as you might have noticed there is allready a wm 6.5 section so now we have two.
altough anyone can edit the wiki i was advised by the Mods to first compile the data and then when we have most of the info edit the wiki .
so i suppose we should focus on editing the google spreadsheet i set up.
If anyone wants access please post here.
P.S Jason and Wiggz please PM me a google username so i can add you to the list.

OFFICIAL android port for cdma/diam500 users

im making this thread for all of us who own a diam500/cdma version of the touch diamond. lets see what we can do to get android to fully work or work at all on our phones. ive asked zenulator & msmission to assist us, they are from the vogue/android section of xda. im sure with their knowledge they can get us hooked up.
i find it ridiculous that gsm diamonds have a fully working port but cdma does not. hopefully this thread will spark some devs interest? id try but im no good at this stuff+i have no time to learn to develop.
so what doesn't work? Do you have builds already? Do you have a kernel git somewhere? Do you have a ril git somewhere?

im not sure, do you know of anybody that can help us out on your end?
so there is zero interest in this guys?
I'm very interested, but without any real developers on board with these specific devices, the going is slow and painful. I've been digging into source code this week, compiling kernel builds, trying to see how far I can get... but when it gets down to actually modifying the code, it's well beyond my level of expertise.
I've got a post over on ppcgeeks with a working build for my raph800, with possibly working wifi, but no cdma radio. I'm not sure if it'll work for diam500, but it should, since it's based on the combined build.
Since then, I've gotten some help from phh on irc, and gotten a build with cdma radio working, but still no cdma data (pretty sure it broke wifi, too). It's got a different ril rolled into the rootfs.img, and the last working smd.c and smd_rpcrouter.c from linuxtogo stuck into the latest build from the gitorious autobuild.
Anyway, you can give it a shot with this package from connect-UTB with the rootfs and zImage from ppcgeeks -- can't seem to upload them here. That's where we're at now. What's needed now is someone who can actually write the code for smd.c and smd_7500.c (the msm7500, i.e. cdma chipset) so that it properly creates a data channel. At that point we'll be pretty close to where the gsm project is. Are there any real developers in the house?

I'd love to see this happen, and have checked these threads for quite a while in hopes of real progress. I've been really impressed with zenulator's work, incredible really, but as I understand it, he was offered a dia500 but declined it? Were he or another accomplished developer up to the challenge, I'd make a Paypal donation to them in a heartbeat, as I'm sure many many other lurkers would.

i love to see it too as i hate winmo with a passion. i would also donate for a fully working port.

Me too no doubt you can count me in too for a paypal donation. Doing these kernals and modifying the code requires a good deal of time. If you are a developer out there reading this thread there are people here willing to reimburse you for that time and effort you put into it.

no progress than i can see. by the time they do it, ill have a real android phone.
Hey everyone, I've been working on DIAM500 and Android for the last week (after not having done much since October). There has been some real progress since then, especially in the phone functionality.
Things that work:
* placing/receiving calls (although only the speaker works, not the mic)
* send/receive SMS
* Wi-Fi
We're also real close to getting a cell data connection working.
Things that don't work:
* Bluetooth
* Camera
* GPS
* Power management (backlight control, sleep)
* Performance is sometimes sluggish
If I can get a cell data connection running (it is working sporadically on RAPH800), I'll post a kernel and instructions here so you can try it out.
I have a feeling if it gets to the point that wifi and data work, a lot of vogue guys will pick up diamonds on ebay, which would contribute to this fledgling thread. I am both a vogue and diamond owner, the screen and features of the diamond would blow the vogue out of the water if it were as functional with android.

[Q] How to become a developer?

Hey guys, Ive had my phone now for little over a month and have been using CM7 since Nightly 36, and I gotta say i dont feel bad replacing my old iphone.
But now i wanna get serious and learn more about becoming a developer. Just wanna know if you guys have any suggestions on what books i should start reading or links if you have any on how to become a developer. any tips and suggestions would be a big help and thank you in advance.
Hello mate nice to see another Iphone use getting to there senses and getting a decent phone
I aint a devloper my self but i would also love to learn about everything you said, I downloaded a couple of books
Sams Teach Yourself Android Application Development in 24 Hours
Oreilly.Learning.Android
And to be honest it went way over my head and thats what put me off, everthing I tried didn't seem to work lol.
And it was more than what I could take in.
I sent you a PM
I once read a recommendation of a book named "Hello Android"
Seemed pretty solid to me.

The PDK site is absolutely vital if you are going to work on custom ROMs
The link says it no longer avaliable as its out of date are there any others
Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys.
So far from what i read you'll need to dl the developers tools first. Heres a cyanogen wiki link to show what tools are needed
: //wiki.cyanogenmod. com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
next theres an east starter app that you make to get you started on developing apps. from the android website: ://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/hello-world.html
so thats what im trying to do rigt now. ill update you guys and let you know how it goes

Don't take this the wrong way, but creating a website for the Thunderbolt right now is like showing up late to a party with a 12 pack of Bud Light. Everyone will be happy you came, but you didn't bring anything that wasn't already there. Now, if you show up with a bottle of Single Barrel Jack Daniel's, you will be the shiznit at the party. So, if you can, please try to bring something different to your website. With that said, I'll be sure to keep checking on your site, it's always nice to have more people at the party.

To be honest, I love this idea. It's kind of hard to find updated roms and mods for any phone, not to mention the Thunderbolt. BeardedMan... Why is making a website like this, which will (hopefully) be a good hub for Thunderbolt mods and roms, getting "late to the party?" Is there another website out there like this, besides the android forms or Rom Manager? If there is, I'd like to know.
frankzua77, I would like to say thank you. If this website becomes what I think it will, it will make modding the Thunderbolt so much easier. If you need any help, just let me know.
I think the problem beardedman is referencing is the fact that there are a lot of android websites/forums already (even thunderbolt specific) and that there are a lot of much newer phones getting the attention. I have yet to not find anything I'm looking for without a 10 second search on Google. And the Thunderbolt is real close to being yesterday's superphone, if it's not already.
Plus, the problem with any of these sites is someone has to maintain it...which means sifting through posts, updating daily, etc. Unless it's a wiki that anyone can update, it's the same reason that the stickies all get outdated. Heck, it's the same reason I've started threads on many forums for many topics trying to compile information and eventually given up.
Now that I've rained on the parade and come off as a prick, I do applaud the effort...even if it doesn't stay updated or become the hub you imagine, at least you have an idea and a passion and are trying to do something about it. Don't lose that. And who knows...maybe it's just what the community needs

I have a "Thunderbolt" folder in my Bookmarks (just like I used to with my Incredible) that I have the five links in. I can open all the links and catch up with all the newest Thunderbolt news, for the most part. And the Thunderbolt is old news actually, just being honest.
TUDrewser understood what I meant, I wasn't being rude. ThunderNet, trying checking the above sites, I bet you'll find answers to whatever questions you have.

Please see my sig..
Users can submit a MOD, Downlad mods or whatever right from the web.
Still a WIP, but just needs attention.
Not knocking this idea at all, but should really consider opening it up to a wiki format and not center only on the thunderbolt.
!
I really appreciate everyone that makes their point, I am currently working on the page. One of my goals is to have videos that can show you a ROM even before you consider downloading it. I know we are focusing on the tbolt, who knows maybe later on this expands to having other phones and stuff...
I need your help on deciding on a domain name! Right now im using a free domain service but I would like to purchase a domain, any ideas???
Also please click on the ads on the bottom as this is how the site will be funded for right now.
