[INDEX] Google Nexus 4 - ROMs, Kernels, MODs,Guides, Recoveries, Themes [10 Apr 2013] - Nexus 4 General

Hello Folks!! Welcome to the Index of ROMs from the Android Development Forum for Google Nexus 4. :highfive:
I just started using this forum and found that there was no index thread to navigate easily to different roms, kernels, etc. So i decided to create an Index for Nexus 4 android development
This index is not yet complete,i am trying to index all the stuff but it will take some time till then bear with me
First of all, which ROMs are included here? Well, I just search and choose the active threads (even if the ROM doesn’t have any recent updates) must. Perhaps you can find some outdated ROMs that are still functional. Please remember, the most important thing is to read the thread of the ROM that you choose, take a look at the benefits, user reviews, bugs, FAQ, etc. And then, flash it. Of course all the feedback is welcome, if you see some wrong information or want to see a ROM added/removed, you can post a reply in this thread or send me a PM.
Some useful info for beginners:
4.x.x is the Android version.
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project
CM is CyanogenMod
JDQ39 is the most recent build number as on 10th of april.

yeah!!Nexus 4 development is way too fast, but i guess that's the reason we all bought Nexus 4

I believe one of these is already being maintained. In the general section, they have a sticky roll up that links to this index.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975842
Within that index, there is a link to this directory:

Not to say your effort isn't appreciated, just wanted to point it out . Good luck!

Thanks for this very informative Post!!

Few basic tutorials
Few basic tutorials-How to backup current kernel
Download K-tools from Google play- link
Open ktools and click on "dump current kernel"
That's it, your kernel (zImage) will be saved on root of internal SD.
Save you kernel somewhere you feel safe.
How to flash kernel (custom/stock)
1. Using K-tools
Download kernel file and extract the tar or zip to get the zImage.
Put the zImage on root of internal SD
Download ktools (link above)
Open ktools and click flash kernel
Reboot and done.
2. Using Mobile odin (MO)
Download kernel (MO can handle both tar and zImage) and put anywhere on your phone.
Download MO pro from googleplay (paid) or MO lite from here (free)
Open MO (pro will automatically download add-ons. For lite go to above link and download add-ons manually)
Click Kernel field in MO and point to the downloaded kernel file (tar or zImage)
Scroll down and click "flash firmware".
Phone will reboot and you will be done.
Make sure to check whether kernel has been flashed after reboot for both tools.
Kernel can also be flashed using pc odin (.tar file) and cwm recovery (cwm .zip file)
but flashing (most of the) custom kernels using pc odin raises custom binary count,
so it's better to flash using MO or other method(s).
Adding more........

CM9/AOKP (ICS) ROMS
AoCP
Ganbarou
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TW based ICS ROMS
TheMIDTeam Codename "B&G"
AllianceROM Resurrection Edition
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HYBRID ROMS
Liquid Black - it is not a pure AOKP Rom because it uses TW kernels
HYBRID_TMT_MIUI - see above
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DISCONTINUED ROMS (don't think they should be listed at all)
M3dD0g´s LiquidSmooth
ICS StuNNeR
AOKP For Note! Milestone 4
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd chuck out the word 'TW' from GB rom title - it's redundant, because they are all TW Roms
Also, I'd put GB Roms at the bottom: very few users would be expected to search for them nowadays
Please see the Wiki page for the N7000 with a similar approach:
Custom ROMs
If this thread here will get more attention than the wikipage or is made sticky I will stop to update the wiki table. No use in making redundant entries. More important is an usable access for members to the relevant informations. And I assume most member do not like to switch from the forums to a wiki and back again. Only advantage of a wiki page is the possibility for more advanced structuring and formatting content.
Good luck here.

Your work is too good, appreciate that. But I think lot of users do not check wiki and it is not even showing up in forum or google search. I searched thoroughly before submitting my thread and I found nothing. So I submitted this thread assuming there is none
I agree that no need for double or redundant entries, so let me compromise mine (lol, just kidding), I have updated OP with your link for further updates (I am not going to update it further). Keep up your good work
Thanks for the work. this makes life easier finding the right ROM for my note.

Thanks for this mate. A little correction. The 1/2 Illusion is a JB AOKP rom built by toxicthunder and me collectively . U have it listed under the ICS rom heading.

I checked if I made the same mistake in the wiki table. I wrote AOKP there (without JB).
In your thread title you use ICS two times. Maybe a "democratic" decision made by jeetu1981.
And in your changelogs for v1 and v2 there is no explicit statement for JB based.
Maybe you like to change this for easier understanding.
Thanks
Thanks for the appreciation and feedback everyone!! When I last updated the index 1/2 Illusion was ICS only (or may be the title was not clear) and then I decided not to update this thread and provided link for ThaiDai's wiki page. That's why it was still in ICS only, I have now updated it in JB section too.
I believe HALF-ILLUSION v2 is still CM9?
I think this thread should stay ito date. the wiki is not easy to find for some reason and when I clicked on it I had to exit the xda application and go to the browser.

Facts about this ROM
★ This build is the product of my enthusiasm since I bought my Nexus 4
★ No original coding and patching. Just build it from CM sources after removing some packages.
★ After searching through Development forums of the Google Nexus 4 device, I realized that there are concrete efforts from developers with respect to ROM development
★ CyanogenMod was my favorite even before my first Android device and thus I decided to build from CyanogenMod sources
★ This is strictly a result of XDA driven guides' and threads' implementation from a newbie who has some knowledge of operating in a GNU/Linux environment
★ I have built this ROM to authorize myself that I can build from sources :victory:
Reasons you should prefer other ROMs
★ Trust: I am not a trusted and recognized developer
★ There are other regularly updated and maintained unofficial CM10.1 builds
★ I have discontinued development for this ROM and device as of v0.2
People/Organizations to thank
★ Google
★ CyanogenMod for its sources and wiki

Re: [ROM][LINARO][Unofficial][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 Experimental M Snapshot builds
First! Reserved. Let's see if I can get away from one of my ROMs to try this. It looks nice. Nice job with the Linaro as well .
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
You surely can try... I am running this and so far it is a pleasant experience. Not the fastest of all in terms of benchmarks, you can have superior performance from other Linaro builds. I guess that's because the bionic optimizations which were updated after Jan 21 are not considered in this build.
My main goal was to make it as par as CM10.1-M1 build regarding stability and source code usage.
This is my first build and I am learning to edit manifest files to use different packages and kernels. I might try building it with other kernels and updated bionic optimizations.

The GPS bug is present with this ROM also.... I have used the CM10.1-M1 manifest to build this ROM but some changes in the M1 branch might be triggering the GPS bug or it might be something else....
Will update with a new build and test it properly...
I believe my first build was not entirely a nonusable thing. Will try to build with some customizations after learning more....
Re: [ROM][LINARO][Unofficial][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 Experimental M Snapshot builds
Flashed and tested the first build. During the time I tested it, I didn't experience any lags, stutters, bugs, etc. Nothing! The build was bug-free and blazing fast.
Don't let the OP's low post and thanks meter think that these are low quality builds. These builds are definitely not low quality. If the OP keeps this up, his thanks meter might go up a little bit more .
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Once this rom has some of the customize-able features incorporated into Jellybeer, I'll be all over this. I'm still looking for a variant with center clock, nav bar height/width and some other knickknacks. Thanks for starting the development on this, I'm looking forward to seeing its progress.
OP updated with the new build...
More solid and stable. Used Paranoid Android Kernel which promises great color reproduction and it shows......
@Mattymat.. Sorry brother, I am not going to add any customizations which are outside CM. Kind of like to keep it that way.

@Mattymat.. Sorry brother, I am not going to add any customizations which are outside CM. Kind of like to keep it that way.

All good man, I understand. I'm hoping someone takes what you've done and maybe adds them in (if you're okay with that of course). I've gotten used to jellybeer with all of its customizations.
Re: [ROM][LINARO][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 M Snapshot builds (Updated: Feb 10)
I am perfectly fine with anyone who wants to continue this work. However this is no serious customisation and stuff.
It's purely build from sources but the difference is that it is build with Linaro toolchain rather than GCC

Any other download link?
IE reporting your link unsafe
Re: [ROM][LINARO][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 M Snapshot builds (Updated: Feb 10)
I do not have any other link. I shall try to upload on other account tomorrow(maybe Dropbox).
I assure you that's a safe link. It's uploaded to mega.co.nz, a relatively new service which encrypts your files and thus IE thinks it is unsafe. My chrome does not report it unsafe.
FYI, mega.co.nz launch was very successful and i admire it dearly.

[discussion] Evervolv AOSP ROM

I am in no way a dev or contribute to this rom, other than flashing it. i noticed there wasn't a thread for evervolv rom for the grouper, but there are nightlies for it. If i'm violating any rules on xda i'll take this thread down.
"For those that don't know what evervolv is, Evervolv is an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) rom. We're fully open sourced and encourage it with no restrictions. The work put into this rom is community driven and Evervolv Project is made up of numerous members and contributors."
Right now the current source we are working on is Jellybean (Android 4.2.x)
You can find us on irc.freenode.net in #evervolv (or by using the web chat).

AW: [discussion] Evervolv AOSP ROM
Maybe I'm blind but I don't see neither a release nor a nightly for Grouper.
It's the one that says evervolv-mirus, it says grouper at the end of the file.
